LOD had a great show tonight. He pointed out that Cain would end SS and Medicare and it is all within 9-9-9!!! I am very happy that LOD got his own show. LOD and RevAL is the least critical of PBO than anyone on cable.

I make it a point to watch the Last Word after hearing/reading some of the crap that has/is being said about PBO because LOD has a better picture of what is really going on than anyone in the media other than RevAL.

Very rarely have I ever been disappointed in The Last Word (TLW) when LOD is on instead of someone else who might be sitting in for LOD.

Hi Chipsticks…all I get is a black screen. I have never had any problems with your videos before…..:(

    • October 12, 2025 at 9:25 pm

Oh flip, sorry WoS, a couple of other people had problems today too. Could I just check with you what browser you’re using and if you have it updated to the latest version? That usually seems to be the source of the problem. Sorry again WoS.

Noooooooooo! Before today I was supping champagne, celebrating the departure of all those gremlins.

          And now they’re BACK! :-(

I honestly haven’t a clue what’s causing the problem GGail, the video’s working fine for me in Firefox but it should be good for you too in Chrome.

I’m nearly afraid to ask - are other Chrome users having problems?

Chips the reason you have the problems has nothing to do with you it is just like being on crowded highway the net has bottlenecks of information that just doesn’t get through complete. Also a lot of information servers that carry the information to the different IP address of all of us who are here at TOD is just like the Post Office We get junk files that cause the problems from time to time.Prime example is The Worldwide crash of Blackberry service.

    Chip,
You will not hear this on the news, but again, the President beats all republicans head to head in new NBC poll:

    Obama 46%
    Romney 44%

    Obama. 51%
    Perry. 39%

    Obama. 49
    Cain. 38%

Strange how the news always hides these facts in their polls.

Hey Jovie, been wondering where you’ve been. Glad to see that the president’s poll numbers are looking stronger. The non-stop talk about jobs is ressonating. I knew it would - that’s why I’ve been wanting to see it for a long time. The one good thing about breaking up the jobs bill is that the president and Democrats can keep pushing the jobs message over and over with each new aspect of the bill that is going to be introduced in Congress. I hope we steer clear of deficit talk as much as possible for the next year.

        Hi,
Me two. Although, the debt commission looks like a stalemate and that trigger will kick in.
GOP will blame the President and they still have the spending bill, poised for around that time.
GOP is a messed up party, so they could change the subject if they want.

        What do you think?

        • 22 vero804
          October 12, 2025 at 10:35 pm

I agree, the deficit commission will not deliver and then there will be chaos in Congress for them to figure out how to keep the trigger from being pulled. I’m not looking forward to that mess. I’m sure the GOP will make it as dramatic and as painful as possible.

Lawrence O’Donnell has found another target. He analyzed Herman Cain’s 999 tax plan and it s not pretty. Cain may regret that he talked about Lawrence negatively after that interview. Cain will find himself being the new Donald Trump on Lawrence’s show. :) Now that Cain is the front runner rest assured every stone will be turned over.

      October 12, 2025 at 9:56 pm

Yeah, he sliced that 999 plan up into little itty bitty pieces. I’ve noticed that every time Cain starts having to answer questions on his joke of an economic plan, he starts blinking really hard as the b.s. flows out of his mouth. I mean, why 9? Why not 8? Why not 10? No though whatsoever. Buffoon!

A couple of days ago a friend e-mailed me this wonderful and prescient quotation of Frederick Douglass from 1883. She also sent me some great pictures of the President, most of which I have never seen before. It seems unlikely that there are any pictures of him that are not in the TOD archive, but I would be glad to forward them in if I knew how. PRESS ON EVERYONE!!

FREDERICK DOUGLASS QUOTE IS APPLICABLE TO PRESIDENT OBAMA

114 years ago, Frederick Douglass prophetically provided the explanation for why people are so hard on President Obama. The quote below is worth remembering next time we are invited to pile on criticism or to fall for that of the Tea Bagger Party and others.

    *********************************************************

“Though the colored man is no longer subject to barter and sale, he is surrounded by an adverse settlement which fetters all his movements. In his downward course he meets with no resistance, but his course upward is resented and resisted at every step of his progress. If he comes in ignorance, rags and wretchedness he conforms to the popular belief of his character, and in that character he is welcome; but if he shall come as a gentleman, a scholar and a statesman, he is hailed as a contradiction to the national faith concerning his race, and his coming is resented as impudence. In one case he may provoke contempt and derision, but in the other he is an affront to pride and provokes malice.”

Phenomenal. I love the writings of Frederick Douglass. It is definitely more dangerous to be the scholarly statesman — add swagger to it and you really drive people insane. We’re incredibly fortunate to be here witnessing this proud, brilliant gentleman.

It’s the people like Frederick Douglass, and their experiences and courage to speak out when there were no laws protecting them, that I’m sure give President Obama strength to endure the attacks he receives on a daily basis. I heard him say one day that he looks at what those people endured, and it gives him strength because what he goes through is nothing compared to those who risked their lives.

      Great quote, Dave.

Frederick Douglass had it absolutely right. If President Obama was to yell and scream all the time, the media would chortle in glee because he would conform to their disgusting stereotypical view of black men. The fact that he’s never given them any of those 30 second sound bites they love so much infruriates them so they always try to cut him down. But he’s the teflon President and all their hate bounces off him and makes them look like petulant children.

Joy Behar - who really respects PBO and shows it, more so than many, many others - is having Hank Williams Jr. on her show tonight. Either she’s going to give him a good tongue lashing, or another platform for his hate.

Think I’ll watch. If she doesn’t take him down, I’m gonna lose a lot of respect for her.

Please report back.I heard she spoke up in support of Hank Jr. last week. I was disappointed - because I doubt she would have spoken up if Hank had made anti-Semitic or misogynistic comments. Nobody was saying Hank Williams Jr didn’t have the right to speak his mind, but he also had to be ready for the consequences. In civilized society, people just don’t say stupid things that Hank Williams said.

WASHINGTON — Congress passed three long-awaited free trade agreements on Wednesday, ending a political standoff that has stretched across two presidencies. The move offered a rare moment of bipartisan accord at a time when Republicans and Democrats are bitterly divided over the role that government ought to play in reviving the sputtering economy.

The approval of the deals with South Korea, Colombia and Panama is a victory for President Obama and proponents of the view that foreign trade can drive America’s economic growth in the face of rising protectionist sentiment in both political parties. They are the first trade agreements to pass Congress since Democrats broke a decade of Republican control in 2007.

That’s good. Although the American people aren’t going to get jazzed up over trade agreements given how badly NAFTA has ended up.

      • October 12, 2025 at 10:04 pm

They may become jazzed when they learn about the built in protections for displaced workers in these agreements. No such protections were included in NAFTA. As with the AJA more folks come on board with access to real information.
