Supreme Court Justice, Samuel Alito, also came close to being rude to the President.

No, no Meta, I’ve been going easy on the birthday cake in order to make sure everyone can have a slice. I was working on the rationale that his 2012 term (which hasn’t started yet) will finish in 20016. However, to be clear, I’ll miss the daily pictures and news about PBO AFTER 2016. Who else is going to bring a smile to my heart just by my looking at his/her picture, or hearing his/her voice?
I was actually thinking about this yesterday. He brings so much joy and excitement to us every day. Not sure how we will make do without his presence with us. I’m so curious to see what he has in mind for himself. I know he’ll write more books.

GGail, Hilda Solis, is a very beautiful product of the district that I taught in for 35 years. I passed her home every morning as I travelled to the school to my school. In fact, she came back to the district just recently to be honored for her many successes.
My best friend’s husband taught her in junior high and we buried him yesterday. She just sent him a special hello at the beginning of the school year while another young teacher friend of mine was on business in DC, and had a meeting with her as well. In fact, she was mentioned in one of the comments at the service yesterday. He was very proud of her as a student, and was so elated that she remembered him. A young lady who did well in school from our local school system. Very proud of her.HZ

If the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES speaks about an ongoing investigation, that would be grounds for bias. Any defense attorney worth his/her law degree would claim bias, and that attorney would be correct.
Some folks just don’t understand the basics of the legal process. I get their passion, this Trayvon Martin situation is HORRENDOUS, but it does not involve POTUS. It can’t involve POTUS, not if justice is to prevail.
I just read the POLITICO article about this.
The article from Poliitico regarding the Trayvon Martin case is suspect in my book. The blog mentioned is not at all a high traffic blog, and Boyce Watkins (also known as “Bitter” Boyce) is a whiny emo-prog who has not been supportive of PBO on very many issues. He is self-aggrandizing and pretty much in with the Tavis Smiley/Cornel West crowd. It’s not about him or his opinion. Plus, Boyce made a false equivalence to Sandra Fluke. The Fluke issue was not a criminal investigation. (Shhheeesh, Boyce… You are a professor???)
The Department of Justice is in on this case and will sort it out. How does the President play a part? He can’t comment, his comments would be regarded as biased, and be (rightfully) used by the defense to attempt to make the case against the alleged killer less effective.
People like Boyce Watkins really need to understand basic legal proceedings before the go spouting non-sense.
Boyce knew exactly what he was doing by talking to POLITICO about this situation. He and the media are still trying to push the meme, that President Obama doesn’t like to talk about racial issues, which is a big topic in the AA community. Boyce has had it out for POTUS from day 1 just like Cornell West.

House Republicans last night rejected the Senate’s bipartisan transportation reauthorization bill and said they would instead adopt a short-term resolution that would maintain current funding levels for 90 days. With just 10 days until the current short-term authorization plan expires, that means House Republicans have made possible a transportation shutdown that could force more than 1.9 million workers off the job.
I’m not a praying person, but I sure as hell pray the damn dems don’t cave AGAIN! I know there are a lot of livelihoods at stake but these creeps just don’t stop! Give then an inch and they take a mile. I’m so tired of them. Nov 6 can’t come fast enough

Before the night ends, want to wish VC an almost belated happy birthday.
I was re-watching the WH St Paddy day celebration and reflecting on Teuchich (sp?) Kenney’s speech thanking PBO for all his help this past year in helping Ireland right their ship of state. He seemed really grateful for PBO’s help, yet because of PBO’s tendency to never beat his chest, (and the US media’s failure to actually present us with ‘news’) we won’t know until it makes it into the history books, just what went on behind the scenes.
I think of all Tim Geitner’s (one of our unsung heros) trips over there and even tho Europe went for austerity measures instead of stimulus, there must have been a lot of schooling going on because we hold so much of their debt. I’m sure Tim helped secure our interests. But I’m really curious what we did to gain so much praise and appreciation from Kenney.
Also I just have to say that Kenney is the only world leader who can stir me with his speeches like PBO. He has a natural gift and infuses his speeches with such passion, second only to PBO. The Irish are just so kewl. A year long ‘homecoming’ celebration? Seems like they are embracing their pagan roots. he he he- 2012 may be THE year for a trip to Ireland.
The funniest part of that WH celebration was the Cert of Irishness LOL or whatever it was. I love that PBO will give it a place of honor, right next to his birth cert! Take that you repugs - LMAO at that one
Lastly just have to say to everyone who wonders how we will survive after 2016 I say, O’Malley! The man has good values, (from what I’ve seen so far) Always talks the truth without apology or bluster. Never seems to get riled or thrown off message. Speaks fluent spanish. Has a slamming body and plays some serious Irish rock. He’s the package! Mark my words.

Belated thanks , LS. :lol: I agree that I’m keeping an eye on O’Malley and I like what I see. However, Barack O brought me into Am. politics, and since it is now taking up 97% of my life, I’m hoping for a little less addiction come 2016.
Enda Kenny is truly a man of moral conviction. His passionate speech denouncing the Vatican last year was historic & a must-see (http://thelede.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/07/25/video-of-irish-leaders-speech-attacking-the-vatican/) following the publication of the Cloyne report which found that clergy leaders failed to act on complaints against 19 priests from 1996 to 2009. You don’t see this kind of courage from bible thumping Santorums.
Fun reading all the comments about various things, such as the President’s clothes today in Oklahoma. Knowing oil fields, I’d say he was dressed just right. You certainly don’t want your pants legs to drag in the muck and mud. For that, he looked just right:)
I do know he has a valet at the White House. All Presidents do, and PBO has a good one, but the valet has a good person to take care of. I imagine FLOTUS is too busy to choose his clothes, so a good valet does that. He’s probably responsible for the new gorgeous ties too.
Last night we were all( on this blog) so disgusted with our Governor who did not go to meet the president. Well, we weren’t the only ones. One of the TV stations has what is called The Rant in which people email their feelings. Thursday is Open Night, and every rant was about the governor and how inappropriate she was. One person took an interesting tack…she said the Governor took the oath and promised to represent ALL Oklahomans 365 days a year, and she should have been there. People were truly disgusted, which did encourage me some. I sent a rant too, and I also wrote the governor and told her exactly what I thought about her actions.
Wow glad I saw you post as I was about to log off. It is really good to hear that ppl were upset. Yeah OK and thanks for sending her a piece of your mind. I’m sure you spoke for all of us! Curious, what did the station with the blog say about her absence? Or did they stay out of the fray?
okay, Carolyn, I’ll give PBO a pass on the high waters (floodies). You know the area much better than I do. But I do remember him saying once that he really didn’t care to shop (or maybe it was Michelle who said that) so it was funny to me that he had on high waters.
I give props to the White House staff, valet included. They do great work. And I’m sure they enjoy working for POTUS and FLOTUS Obama. That has got to be a joy.
Thanks Carolyn for your comments about the governor. We have enough love to send his way when those who do not give him the respect as the POTUS. That is one reason among so many that this beautiful place here is so important. Our prayers, meditations, beautiful candle lighting, and great fun will keep him cheered, I pray.

If the people on the right were given a lie detector test, tell me how many of them could say that about their GOP candidates?
