….. And this was a key issue in the 2008 election …. this was a hugely successful policy opposed by McCain, opposed by Bush and opposed by Romney. No wonder they’re so upset at reality. It’s the same reaction they have when it becomes clear that Osama bin Laden was captured and killed by a president smart enough not to deploy torture, years after a bunch of thugs took over US intelligence on the orders of the panicked incompetent, Dick Cheney.
And one thing about John McCain. He actually said: “And, you know the thing about heroes, they don’t brag.” For his entire political career, McCain has done nothing but brag about his own military service, milking every last, disgusting drop for his own interests, making it the center-piece of his campaign. And he didn’t kill anyone - just crashed his plane…..

OFA is in the Eastern part of the state.. Fargo.. college students, et al are where the Democrats live. Here on the east end of ND it is Tea Party central. We did have an OFA office here in Williston in 2008 where the oil boom is now raging.. but thus far no OFA. I was the ONLY person who went out weekly w/ the one staffer to knock on doors.. he and I literally covered this entire town by ourselves. With that said the eastern end of the state is Pro-Obama more than not.

I was going to email her and lambast her for this BS.. then decided I could care less.. So the oil boom has been very good for the economy here.. but from what I’ve learned.. it s been even better for the oil companies.. they don’t pay taxes to the state or the city. What is missing from this discussion is that Bush/Cheney/Condi had shut down the intelligence unit to get bin Laden. They focused on Iraq only in a conventional military sense and did nothing to respond substantively to the change in threats of the 21st century. One of PBO’s first moves was to reinstate that unit and focus not just on bin Laden but on al Qaeda (and I assume other terrorist threats) and focus a 21st century response.
It was not about the intelligence just falling in his lap and any idiot — even a Democratic president — would have ordered the action. It was a direct result of President Barack Obama’s substantive, intelligent reorganization of the gathering of this information that led to his actions against al Qaeda and bin Laden.
IT WAS THE VISION OF THIS PRESIDENT THAT BROUGHT NATIONAL SECURITY INTO THE 21ST CENTURY.
The Bush administration was a failure on national security, squandering trillions on a war built on lies.

I just saw the tail end of a segment with Tamon Hall where she was interviewing Chuck Todd and Michael Smerconish. Chuck Todd made the point that Romney had moderated his tone a bit in the interview on CBS and the press conference with Rudy G. Apparently, the Romney campaign realizes they stepped in it with the wisecrack about President Carter. And I am beginning to think they realize they fell into the trap that PBO set for them. I think they would rather be talking about something else now. Their poutrage has only brought more attention to the difficult decision that President Obama had to make. Everybody is talking about it. And surprisingly, a lot of commentators are saying that President Obama has every right to let the American people know what he did. Everybody understands this is just sour grapes for the GOP.
