President Obama salutes as he arrives to deliver commencement address at the US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs

…. with Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Norton A. Schwartz

President Obama receives a painting of Air Force One from the US Air Force class of 2012 during their graduation ceremony at the US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs

Air force rocks!
Congrats!
Thanks Lisa
Good work, PF!
My grandfather was a photographer in the Air Force!
Winner!
Thanks Chips!
I cannot express how much I adore this photo. I love everything about it.
Can’t wait to hear his inspirational speech!
Too late. Sigh!
Better luck next time!
Never give up. Never give in. :-)
I love it!

BTW, When are you going to do the collage of pics for yesterday’s winners? With your expertise, one post could take care of all six of us. Just slap each of our names beside a pic; I’ll call dibs on one with POTUS and a baby or POTUS, FLOTUS and a young’un..
Outstanding!
Delurk to say the correct term is “vampire capitalist”.
Why are you lurking? Did I miss something?
A difference of opinion on Cory Booker, these have been testing days!
Oh my. Well it’s happened to all of us, even you Ms. Chips, although you can run but you can’t hide………..
Thanks for not giving up on us, Chips, even with the Cory Bookers and Ed Rendells of the world trying to separate the good guys! 4MoreFor44 !!
Anyone attacking Daval Patrick should see the whole interview. He said exactly what PBO said. He praised Bain Capital as a company & attacked Romney tenure as a venture capitalist & his record during his term as Gov of MA
Thanks Me4o. Glad that he is not another cory.
Thanks, Me4O (long time no see; Hi!), this reminded me of a thought I had yesterday and mulled on overnight. I’d like TODville to help me brainstorm a list of Dems who regularly do the right thing so that we can take a little time to pat them on the back. IMO we expend so much passion and energy on the ones that mess up that they end with a whole lot of attention and the others get overlooked.
These are the names I came up with though I know they have got to be many others. I’m calling them #BigPictureDems because they see the big picture ow what the Admin needs to do to win and they publicly avoid being an obstacle in the way.
My overnight list =
#BigPictureDems
Gov. Deval Patrick - Mass
Gov. …… O’Malley - MD
—- Krystal Ball - ?
PS Jay Carney - WH
Then I got stuck. Would you please add as you think of them? I’m going to put them on a list, then do a little research prior to giving them a word of praise WITH YOUR HELP on ‘the Twitter’. No reason why heading towards Nov. the ‘bad guys’ should get all the attention. VC
Definitely Krystal Ball, and also Karen Finney. Barbara Boxer, too.
THANKS, T-67!
When you guys add names please also tell me where they are (state & position) if you know. Remember my knowledge of U.S. is limited and I don’t want to ‘mis-identify’ when patting them on the back. TY
Nancy Pelosi
TY
Thanks. I’ll correct some of my tweets!
Yeah, when I read those posts, I knew I would have to see the interview for myself. Deval Patrick has always been on message any time I’ve seen him, and he is one of PBO’s fiercest supporters. Thanks for the confirm, Me4obama.
Gee, I wish there was more Dems Abroad could do, although I donate and do make calls closer to the election. President Obama’s gr-grandfather’s [hope that is correct] house in Moneygall was opened today as a tourist center and will be open for at least the next 12 months. Euro is crashing today, but for those of us getting paid in US$, that news is not all that bad. Oil is falling fast as well. and gold.
Just blocked the troll from yesterday. Really don’t have time today to argue with blockheads.
Yes, block!! I don’t ever respond to RWNJ trolls on twitter. They’re a total waste of time and many are paid to be idiots on twitter.
Me neither LL I don’t have the time of day for these people. We all have more important things to be doing. Like re-electing PBO :-)
I was visiting my brother and sister-in-law yesterday, my niece was going away on an overnight trip for the first time. Anyway, they are buying a used iPhone 4 and I turned it on ( I know my brother was using it last) and the EIB Rush Limpballs website came up and when I tried to get out of there, Drudge’s website. I know my sister-in-law is an Obama supporter (quietly) but my brother and I always get into arguments when he spouts the RWTP’s. Now it is confirmed, my brother is a “teabagger”. He has nothing good to say about PBO and Democrats. He changed his voting from DEM to Independent but he is really a Republican but ashamed to wear it like a badge of honor. This man who is a “Christian” believes the RW crap.
0388jojothecat, I mean no disrespect to you, but your brother says he is a christian, really? I say I am a size 8, but that doesn’t make me one.
Hi anniebella, no disrespect taken. He is a much better man than our father was…a good husband and father, but I don’t know why he can’t relate to PBO. They have similar backgrounds, we were abandoned by our dad, raised by grandparents, worked hard, government loans for college, worked, but he just doesn’t get what the repugs are all about. His daughter’s school has lost good teachers, cut back on music, etc., but he wants to vote for people who will get rid of public education.
One time exemption modo read on men in white and other such ridiculous costume wage war on women.

my favorite line from this is, ‘i don’t know-you ask him’. yes, reporters, that’s your job-when do we see a clip of some reporter grilling robme about the ‘russia is our biggest threat’ idiocy?
The Air Force Academy is the bomb. Best Academy and best branch in the US Military.
Okay now Jessica, full disclosure - what’s your connection? ;)
My 1 year anniversay of being in the AF is coming up June 28th 2012!
Meaning you will have completed your first year of training, or first year AFTER graduation? Congratulations on either scenario!
Wow, Jessica, Good on you!
And with that my twitter streak for the day is over. Gunnite folks.
Good Nite Amk. As always you have been masterful!
Good Night, pard! Sweet Dreams!
Gunnit amk, congrats again on your son.

David Stockman: Mitt Romney Not a “Job Creator”

LIES, AND THE LYING LIARS WHO TELL THEM (Cory Booker gets breathless coverage, Roves lies get a shrug.)
The new, strikingly dishonest ad from Crossroads GPS
By Jamelle Bouie
————————-
Of course, I don’t expect a Republican super PAC to do anything different; they’re in it to win it. But I am surprised the Times would run such a positive piece on the ad and its creators, and forgo any attempt to evaluate the claims made by Crossroads GPS. Unfortunately, when it comes to coverage of Mitt Romney’s campaign for the White House, this is par for th course. The Republican nominee is running on a series of unsubstantiated or easily debunked claims: that he is responsible for 100,000 new jobs at Bain, that there has been net job loss under Obama’s policies, that the stimulus failed, that his policies would reduce the debt (the opposite is true), and that the Affordable Care Act was a “government takeover” of health care.
It’s not hard to find an independent evaluation of each claim, and yet, it’s rare that news outlets challenge the Romney campaign — or Republicans in general — on any it. The GOP is running the most mendacious presidential campaign in recent memory, and the collective response has been a shrug.

With all the important things that are happening HP is featuring two articles on Bristol Palin under their “Politics” section. And we wonder why our electorate is the way it is.
Before the campaign for the election in 2008 began, when I tried to get any real news, all I could find was stories on Britney Spears (and I did not even really know who she was) … then the campaign and Palin, Palin, Palin and that is all we have heard for the last four years. I am so sick of it. Plus, it feels like this last 3 years have been a campaign instead of a Presidency. He has done so much but it it like we have had to campaign during all of it. I just would like to enjoy the time of this President and the hope I feel in me. I am glad CNN is in a freefall. I wish we could do something to annihilate FOX.
Everything President Obama does is labeled as “campaigning”. I wonder what excuse they’ll give in President Obama’s second term when he has won his last campaign?
Cable cut him off?
I put on cspan.
AN AMERICAN CENTURY
This is what real leadership looks like. This speech is so powerful. President Obama just said never bet against the United States. We are the indispensable nation in world affairs.

p.s Morning Joe ratings are in the tank lol 331,000 viewers on Monday, and CNN is in a free fall.
PBO supporters are turning away from Morning Joe and right wingers have never watched him. What is his remaining demographic?
35 - 64
Bill you are correct. I hear a lot of callers call into the Bill Press and Stephanie Miller shows and say that they are happy that they have an alternative so that they no longer have to watch Morning joke.
They’re watching Current TV,,,,,Al Gore is a genius. After he got rid of KO, he put Bill Press AND Stephanie Miller on in the morning, so they are simulaneously on the radio and being broadcast on Current teevee. I don’t get Current but I can listen to them both in the morning.
Hey Everyone: “iHeart Radio” app and on your computer, you can listen to Bill Press, Stephanie Miller, and Randi Rhoads. I miss Thom Hartmann after he went completely internet radio from 12noon to 3PM pacific time, 3PM - 6PM Eastern time. They play reruns on 1150 am over the weekend late night/early mornings.
It’s all in the tabs ….

So, Dick Halperin gave an Softball interview to Robney, so he can answer to how Wonderful Bain is.
You just can’t make this shit up!
Apparently, he would not talk about Bain, only how bad Obama is. Good interview Dick! Not!
Played on every channel, for days and days.
Bet?
And Halperin sticks up for Him. He thinks the approval of Keystone is His answer to Bain.
What utter bullshit!
I hate this Guy, both of them.
Willard mentioned “community organizer” twice in the interview. Everytime a Republican makes a reference to community organizer, a draft dodging Mormon French missionary should be referenced.
But but but Rendell said we all should be nice to each other and stop the negative campaign and we all should sing Kumbya and…
But I thought PBO wasn’t fighting hard enough, wasn’t in-your-face like Hillary would have been.
But…………
My thoughts are a Community Organizer is more in touch with the problems of the bottom portion of our population whereas a Corporate Raider is in touch with the wealthy 1% of the population.
I would rather bet my money on someone who knows how to organize the world community and the community of the US than a one shot businessman.
Exactly - isn’t that the very point that President Obama and VP Biden were making? A community organizer actually has relevant job experience when it comes to running the country as President. If Romney doesn’t have any community organizing in his background, plus he doesn’t want to talk about his type as governor - then he’s basically disqualified to be President. Let them keep talking about community organizing - it will surely come back to haunt them.
I’m tweeting this.
Saw Politico article cited on TOD yesterday that quoted actor Bruce Willis saying some pretty unflattering things about Mitt (he called him a “disappointment” among other things). Since Willis is a staunch republican who voted for both Bushes, it would seem this would get more press than it has, considering how whenever Matt Damon spews some anti-PBO nonsense it gets hyped by the MSM. I guess Damon’s publicist knows his/her job, you only get attention when you feed the anti-PBO narrative. Pathetic.
Bruce was also obtuse in that article..saying “everyone wants to be Barack Obama ..what has he done?”..like all pols are doing nothing is the way I got it. I commented that Bruce Willis needed to study and learn what PObama has done.
I’m running out of dingbats, expletives, etc.: so, “Fucik!” (in RSA, an extreme expletive, used when the F-word is not powerful enough). Pronounced: foo-sek. :)
“Meet Romney’s ‘Special Advisor’ on education policy”
http://maddowblog.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/05/23/11831575-meet-romneys-special-advisor-on-education-policy?lite
The Pres has to shake hands with all 1000+ of them!!! Oh dear!
I hope each one gets a photo with him.
Bill! 1000+ pictures?? After the individual handshakes  What has the president ever done to you?!! ;)
Many universities have a professional photographer who takes a picture of each handshake as the diplomais presented.
That makes the most sense, particularly under the circumstances, but as I didn’t notice any flashes I wondered.
i do worry about his hand! but i guess this is when being a lefty is a real benefit-he may have to ice his right hand every night, but he can still write!
WASHINGTON — Shifting from the economy to education, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney was proposing a voucher-style system that could significantly alter the public school system and revive the debate over school choice.
Romney, who has been reluctant to stray far from the economic issues at the core of the presidential campaign, was outlining the proposal during a speech Wednesday at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
A Romney aide who previewed the speech for reporters said the candidate would let low-income and disabled students use federal funding to attend public schools, public charter schools and, in some cases, private schools. Federal funds could also be applied to tutors or digital courses.
The plan is line with GOP reforms aimed at giving students more educational choices. But it’s unclear how schools in areas that depend on the federal funding would fare.
The proposal was not expected to include any new federal money for education.
Romney has so far offered few details for his plans on several key policy areas, including foreign policy, health care and education. He attacked Obama’s education policy while speaking to donors in New York City on Tuesday evening, previewing themes likely to play prominently in Wednesday’s speech.
“This president receives the lion’s share of funding from organized labor, and the teachers’ unions represent a massive source of funding for the Democratic Party,” Romney said. “The challenge with that is when it comes to actual reform to make schools better for our kids, they talk a good game, but they don’t do it.”
He continued, “If I’m president of the United States, instead of just giving lip service to improving our schools, I will actually put the kids first and the union behind in giving our kids better teachers, better options and better choices for a better future.”
The message is consistent for the Romney campaign, which regularly heaps criticism on the Democratic president’s policies but offers only a vague road map for what Romney would do.
AP report
So now instead of talking about the economy (which wasn’t going so well for him) he wants to switch to education. Yes! No problem. Vouchers are horrendous and the average American can see that. If you take millions away from public education so you can give a few lucky Americans a 5k voucher for a 10k, 12k, 15k + private school how will they come up with the rest when they have a mortgage, groceries, gas, clothing, etc. also to pay? Romney is so damn backwards it’s unfathomable. His ideas are archaic and has led to the decline of education and America in general. Why would we go back to them 10 times over. Rmoney clueless again.
Simply, not going to let him get anywhere near our Public Education System …
#AmericaThisIsNotATest
Yes We Can … Do More Together
WTF!! AP reporting that Mitt Romney proposes a voucher-style system that could change public education.
Hiddeeee Hoooooo OOOOO’s !!!!!!! Another great gettin’ up day, yesirrrreee!!! Ok, I heard what Deval Patrick said, I heard what Powell said and in neither case did I hear what some have posted here. Powell, did not indicate he would endorse Mo’Money, and Deval didn’t go rogue on teh Bain message. He said that Bain isn’t a bad company, and it’s not. It serves its purpose as an equity firm. PBO said as much also. The pushback is that Mitt can’t continue to use it as a qualification and not expect to be questioned about it. PBO also said as did Deval, that it doesn’t create jobs. Soooo, please, when there are posts that disparage a Dem, or an otherwise supporter, make sure it includes the entire story, or post the link.
I did post the link. But what democrats are not getting, the lazy biased media, are using Democrats to attack the President on Bain.
This is pushed by Robney, it is their strategy.
In a lot of cases, they are quoted as saying to leave Bain alone.
Deval Patrick should not allow a soundbite to be played in an ad.
Just say, Bain does not create jobs, he could leave out the- Bain is a good Company stuff!
We are trying to define Robney and disqualify his Bisiness record.
Also, Most People think a good Business is a good thing.
Understood?
The Dems on the TeeVee who have PBO’s back are getting it. They are doing a good job. The ones who aren’t, become identified immediately (talking to you Corey). The media may be lazy, but we don’t have to throw the baby out with the bath water by omitting or over embellishing on what is said in our posts. Things are going to get heated up enough without playing to emotional rather than practical reaction to what is said. Deval, and no other guest has control of soundbites that get played in an ad. He can’t control how his words are edited or parsed, but we can control what we post about what was said. WE aren’t on the TV. WE are on a blog site. WE can help get out the vote. We can follow PBO’s lead by speaking to our neighbors and friends about his successful policies and plans for our future. WE don’t have to wring our hands, gnash our teeth, or act like the sky is falling because of what somebody said on the television. Understand?
Well said cookemom.
You are a lot more forgiving than me. In a soundbite era, politics says your statement should be measured, not Give anything to other side.
Feinstein was quoted saying move on from Bain.
Do you deny she said that???
Oh, and it looks really really bad when Democrats have gotten more donations from Bain, and then they throw in, but Bain us a good Company.
Of course it is a good company, especially when it fills your campaign coffers.
Ahhiiiight?
And btw-
I love you too!
Also, maybe you have not been listening to the Democrats in DC.
They are not exactly running to the tv to defend the President.
Their support of him is self serving.
That is, a lot of House Democrats only support the President because of coat tails.
Just saying.
Do you refute anything I have said, without your choir backing you up?
Lol! Lmao!
luv ya Jovie and I’m not going to pick any bones with you. Been there, done that. I’ll just stand by my original post, that all things are not going to hell in a hand basket every time somebody opens their mouth on tv. I personally, don’t get all flabbergasted when a pundit poots. There is nothing wrong with accepting donations from Bain or any other company. In most cases it’s the employees of the company who are giving their own personal money to a campaign. Because those contributors have to identify who they work for, it is reported as money from the company itself. That’s ok with me, as long as the politician doesn’t govern or legislate based on those donations. If they stand up to the corporation or business when they are out of order, as PBO continues to do, then any donations are fair game. I don’t have a choir, but if I did, I’d have them serenade you with one of my favorite songs, Don’t Worry, Be Happy. It works.
My philosophy exactly. Great points.
Except that is the point. During the Clinton years, a lit of Democrats went DLC way.
Daily kos accuses this president as such. That is not true. On the other hand, Rendell, Harild Ford, all the damn blue Dogs and conserva dem, do govern pro wall street.
Also, you say you don’t want to argue, and then you do just that.
You have tour opinion, I have mine.
Peace
I ain’t a part of nobody’s choir. I agreed with what she said just like sometimes I’ve agreed with you. Let it go at that.
Thank you!!!
Good advice, cookemom. ;-)
And I always, always, always leave a link and a source.
Yes, you did leave a link in the Deval Patrick post. When I read your responses to what he was to have said:
“And now Deval Patrick has a Problem with the Bain attacks I am sick and tired of these toothless Democrats.
Disappointed about Patrick!”
“Governor Patrick is a co chair of the Obama camp talking shit-”
“This is definitely giving Team Obama pause, all these Democrats are sticking up for Bain!
Jeesh!”
“Democratic Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick appeared on CNN and defended the Boston-based company Mitt Romney led, saying it wasn’t “a bad company.” Patrick added “I respect what Bain does and its role in the free market system,” he said. Ugh!”
Based on your posts, I thought that we had another Corey Booker to deal with today. Then I clicked on your link and I had to wonder if you actually listened to it before you posted, because nowhere does he say any of the things in the context that you would lead us to believe.
Here’s your link: http://www.buzzfeed.com/andrewkaczynski/deval-patrick-defends-bain-capital-not-a-bad-com?s=mobile
PS: I wasn’t necessarily speaking about you in my original post. I’ve seen similar reactions from others. I get all riled up, only to find that the whole story wasn’t given, or something. i.e. Powell will endorse Romney, etc.
Sensitive about democrats saying anything about Bain!
They just used 4 in an ad against the President!
It is more than understandable that I am a bit pissed!!!
I’ve seen a lot more about Powell since hearing the first report yesterday on NPR, and I take back my criticism of his comments. He was quite supportive of President Obama, and the buzz on twitter is that he’s roasted Hannity alive. So, I take back my criticism.
Aw, President Obama is going to shake each graduates hand. He’s such a sweetheart. PBO’s going to need a hand and body massage after this. Awesome.
I’ll gladly volunteer.
Oh trumpdog, you rascal. Very funny.
  I was on the point of saying volunteers could easily be found at TOD when I got distracted by the doorbell.
Trumpdog, no no no, let Michelle Obama give it.
Doesn’t Michelle have some gardening or something to do? I say we should relieve her of such a mundane duty of messaging PBO. I’ll bring the oils.
TrumpDog, if you need a helper I would gladly volunteer too!!!!!!!!!!!
Romney’s favorite book is Battlefield Earth by Scientology cult founder L. Ron Hubbard! Figures since this piece of Mitt belongs to a cult too!

Oh my effing GOD!
CHICAGO — Patrick Fitzgerald is stepping down as the U.S. attorney in Chicago.
Fitzgerald has overseen thousands of criminal prosecutions and was the architect of cases against Illinois governors Rod Blagojevich and George Ryan, former Vice President Dick Cheney’s top aide I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby and media mogul Conrad Black.
Fitzgerald has held the post for the Northern District of Illinois for more than a decade. His office announced Wednesday that he’s stepping down effective June 30.
Fitzgerald doesn’t give a reason for leaving in the news release announcing his departure. He says he has no future employment plans and he’ll take time off this summer before making any career decisions.
Fitzgerald is leaving the Justice Department after nearly 24 years, including his time as an assistant U.S. Attorney in New York.
AP report
Patrick Fitzgerald is a Republican hack who has basked in the notion that he is non-partisan. My ass.
Yeah, he got Ryan. But let’s be clear: any first year law student could have gotten Ryan. And probably a whole lot sooner than Fitzgerald did.
Blago was a witch hunt in search of a crime. When Patrick Fitzgerald got up there at the press conference and shrieked that this was the Crime of the Century……
But most important — he didn’t “get” Scooter Libby. He let lying Karl Rove come in time and again and change his perjured testimony in order to fit the facts. The Bush Administration got away with literal murder with what they did to Valerie Plame and her covert organization. We will never know the extent of the damage done by craven political hacks in the Bush Administration in order to pursue their lying policies. They all should have gone to jail for treason.
The reason they didn’t - Patrick Fitzgerald. Blago was the Crime of the Century (when not one thin dime passed hands) but it was a big shrug when it was the Bushies. Disgraceful.
THE CONSTITUTION AND THE WALL BETWEEN CHURCH AND STATE
Romney to Speak at Ralph Reed’s 2012 FFC Conference & Strategy Briefing
—————-
The 2012 Faith and Freedom Conference and Strategy Briefing will be held at the Renaissance Hotel in Washington, D.C. on June 14-16. A whole heavenly host of right wing authoritarian figures will be present, including not just Mitt Romney but GOP presidential also-rans Rick Santorum, Michele Bachmann and Newt Gingrich, along with luminous loudmouths like Glenn Beck, Herman Cain and The Donald. We don’t know yet exactly what will be discussed since the agenda is only tentative even a month out, but it takes little effort to guess given the guest list and the host. Yes, Reed is a liar but he’s a slick liar: Evangelical vote? What Evangelical vote?
.
The Constitution says no to the establishment of state religion but that is exactly what fundamentalists like Reed are working toward. The Constitution says there shall be no religious test to hold office, but that is exactly what fundamentalists like Reed wish to impose.
.
There is no doubt that they are buying Mitt Romney’s soul and Mitt knows exactly who he is selling his soul to in order to land his dream job. Oh, I’m sorry: you want to know what your role is in all this? Think pig with apple in its mouth.

Robney big announcement in Halperin interview- he says he personally will get unemployment to six percent in 4 years.
That is what it is forecasted to be in four years.
Omg!!!
Media just fawning over this bogus interview!
Who’s fawning over it?
Cable!
Any particular station or the coaxial itself?
Cnn
They have gone off the deep end. I thought their abysmal ratings would give them pause but no it’s full steam ahead to FOX land. Terrible news network that just keeps getting worse.
Hi Jovie141
this might cheer you up, for all CNN fawning over Mittens Lol;
http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2012/05/22/cnn-hits-15-year-low-in-weekday-primetime-viewership/135390/
Good. That’s what they get for trying to be Little FOX.
I’m sure getting rid of CNNis one of Ted Turner’s biggest regrets. I remember when it first came on. There was great reporting and real news.
And I thought they would keep going in that direction. I figured we would get some real in-depth reporting. Instead they repeat themselves every 5 minutes (yeah I guess they all do) and decided to grab what was left of the Republican base. Big disappointment.
VC they had a chance to tap into a huge audience that wanted something more than right wing talking points and anti-Obama questions. They failed.
They failed big time IMO! Years ago they used to be my go-to station for news and I had a lot of respect for them. They killed that respect very thoroughly in 2008 when **I** decided out of the blue to actually follow a story in all its detail. Turned out I got really angry by the way they did details.
That’s what they get for pandering to that idiot Tea Party. At lot of people lost respect for them after they did that. Who the hell wants to see a damn Tea Party debate?
Hasn’t President Obama already matched that? Unemployment peaked under him at about 10.3 and it has since dropped the same as what Romney is predicting for himself. Yet it will be a smaller feat for him because unemployment will drop further before he could take over (horror of horrors!).
That’s not earth shattering. PBO has reduced unemployment by over 2% points nationally and more in some states where the auto bailout has helped such as Ohio where it is 7.6%. So Romney will do the same get it from 8.1% now to 6 % in four years, so daaaa.
And how is he going to do this?
That is just pathetic.
He just opened the door to scrutinize his Massachusetts record - that’s the only thing we can use to compare his past performance to his promises of performance in the future.
That’s a great point, theo67.
Uneployment Would Be Way More DOWN NOW if gopricks in Congress weren’t blocking it like the a$$hole traitors they are.
Oh my goodness, the President must get dizzy from all this left and right hand shaking (lol).
WOW!! It’s a good thing he doesn’t have to do anything with one of his feet at the same time. He’s pivoting back and forth saluting and shaking hands like a wind-up toy. He’s even taking time to say a word or two to each cadet.
I just tried to duplicate what PBO is doing with salutes and shaking hands back and forth and I feel nauseous.
LOL! After 10 minutes I’d need some aspirin and a nap.
I’m getting dizzy just watching him.
Oil is at 88 and freefall. Europe pushing prices down bigtime.
I would not be surprised if we were under 3 bucks a gallon by the election.
Already in Florida, gas is 3.36 per gallon.
I saw $3.16 this morning but most places in east TN are $3.32-$3.35.
$4.59 in San Francisco.
4.39 on the Westside of L.A.
4.19 in Pasadena. We pay over .53 in tax in California so we are way behind the rest of the country.
Hi AnitaW, I am in Pasadena too…it was 4.39 at my station close to my house last night. I haven’t gotten out yet today….working from home.
The same here $4.59 in San Diego
TN, are you there yet, or have you already returned? I trust mother is doing well under the circumstances?
I am here now. She is very weak today……sleeping a lot. Did eat a good lunch. Had wheel chair issues I had to deal with. heading home in a few. Thanks for asking.
I figure you will hug mother, so I’ll just give you a hug {{Tnmtngirl}} with wishes for a safe and easy drive when you do head home.
Hang in there. We’re pulling for ya.
Tnmtngrl I’m glad you got to your mother’s safely. I hope she feels better soon. You and your mother are in my thoughts and prayers. I hope you have a safe trip home.
but…but…. Mitt said he would build the Keystone pipeline on DAY ONE with his own hands.
Name one thing that uppity arrogant rich lying fool has built
After November he is going to have plenty of time to build a car elevator.
Heh!
PBO attending a private fundraiser in Atherton tonight where David Crosby and Graham Nash will perform to 60 people at $35K a plate.
Is Stills still around still?
Lord have mercy, I could not shake all those hands. I would have stood before them and gave one salute and that would have been it.
Isn’t he the most awesome leader we’ve ever seen~ I am absolutely amazed to see him doing this.. shaking each grads hand, saluting each one.. as a vet I am so impressed w/ his continued respect toward all our military.
I do wish they’d have set things up w/ better thought though.. so that he didn’t have to do that dizzying half turn over and over a thousand plus times.
sherijr, have you left N. Dak yet? Did you sell your home, or are you still looking? Let me know, #1 would be interested if it’s still available.
Oh cookemom thank you for asking.. my house has sold, we will be signing the purchase agreement today- so that part is done. I have not yet found a house in Baltimore. Three times I’ve been ready to make offers, but was too late. Tonight my son will look at another one for me, and if that ones suitable then I will make an offer. I haven’t left ND- but am partially packed up. I can’t go w/o a home to move to.. since I have my youngest son & our little zoo in tow ;)
Good luck in your search. I love the Maryland/Baltimore/DC area. I’ve always said I’d love to retire there when I retire for real. I’ve been retired since ’01, but it still doesn’t feel like I’m able to just kick back. Maybe that only happens in the commercials.
I’m very excited.. soooo looking forward to city life again and especially to my grandchildren.. cannot wait to kiss their little plump cheeks :)
Cookemom, give yourself some time, you will settle into retirement before you know it (eleven years ? - you must have retired quite young). My sister-in-law and I were talking about all the things we would do if we could retire now…first thing was, sleep in late, volunteer in my community, travel, pamper myself daily..repeat.
yeah, that telecommunications company that I worked for (30 years) gave me an offer I couldn’t refuse. I thought I’d work elsewhere for awhile but after sleeping in, spending time with #1 and #2 and the grandkids, then other things that I couldn’t do while working, it’s all this time later.
That’s wonderful cookemom, you’re doing things that you enjoy and make you happy. A friend of mine who I think worked for the same telecommunications company also retired about the same time you did. She retired at 50yrs old and was doing well until a couple of hits on her 401K that she had to go back to work.
Instead of Baltimore, try looking in Ocean City, MD.
Awesome place!
I’d love to Jovie, but I don’t think that would be at all affordable for me :)
Yes, it is a beautiful place! Stayed at a hotel on the ocean once - breathing that in every morning. Nice.
I remember were the President would stand there and the graduate would walk up to him salute, shake hand and walk by.
TeaNN has no sound and the CBS feed has now switched to the Pentagon. :(
for a while I had both cnn & wh feed going for both sound and pics.. then turned to cspan- it has both sound & pics.. YAY!
Vice President Joe Biden will deliver the commencement address at the United States Military Academy at West Point on Saturday, May 26, the White House just announced. The event will start at 10 a.m.
My sons graduated in 2002 and 2003 from the USMA at West Point and it was one of the proudest moments in me and my husbands life. Knowing the small percentage of minorities that make it through 4 years at these Military Acadamies made it even sweeter. The only thing that would have made that day better would have been If we could have had PBO or VP Joe there.
To our horror we had to sit through Bush in ’02 and Darth Vadar himself in ’03. Sigh!!!!
Speaking before conservative group The Latino Coaltion in DC, Mitt Romney chided President Obama for using his record at Bain Capital in campaign attacks, noting that a number of Democrats in recent days have expressed discomfort with the tactic.
“Sadly, President Obama has decided to attack success,” Romney said. “It’s no wonder so many of his own supporters are calling on him to stop this war on job creators. Make no mistake, when I’m president you wont wake up every day and wonder if the president is on your side.”
Did he say this before or after he told them they should self-deport?
Just returned from getting a mani-pedi at my lovely little Vietnamese salon. I asked the owner if he would turn the channel from FOX, which he did (but he was cool to me the rest of the time there - his wife is a sweetie, however). He turned to NBC - I was there a couple of hours and saw at least four-five Walker ads every half-offer. One Barrett ad during that time. I hadn’t seen many ads because I rarely watch network tv. They’re good — meaning effective — although full of lies. The one that was on the most declared it was telling facts, not opinions. FACTS. Repeated facts throughout — when it was full of lies.
The deluige of propaganda is stunning.
Agree on that about the deceptions in the ads by Walker. Exactly the same as the ones he ran in the 2010 election. Shocking when you know the truth.
Ooooo, thanks for the updated pics, Chips. What gorgeous shots! The salute pic is stunning — the colors are beautlful. Looks like they got perfect weather in Colorado.
Diaz/Balart is a troll!
huhhh? I don’t see anyone here by that name?
LOL, I had to Google. I think she means one of these guys: https://www.google.com/search?q=diaz+balart&sourceid=ie7&rls=com.microsoft:en-us:IE-SearchBox&ie=&oe=
Oh…Ok!
On msnbc in charge of telemundo.
Guess you were not watching.
I just laid down cement for my Patio, came inside and their is Diaz-Balart saying Latinos have an enthusiasm gap for the President, because he single handedly deported 1.3 million Latinos.
Lol!
No jovie I work outside the home (just lurking from time to time during the day) so I am rarely home during the day to watch MSNBC and you know how I feel about cable “news” shows so…..I wouldn’t have had a clue as to what you were talking about. ;)
Thanks for the clarification.
Diaz-Balart, who is Cuban, has two brothers who have been right wing Republican Congressmen from South Florida. One has retired and the other is still serving. He never mentions that fact.
Okay, this one cracked me up:
Ok, that look is full of win.
Isn’t it?!
It made me smile. Pic looks fine to me. Wonder what elicited that response?
he is so cute. :)
Check this out
I’m unsure how laying off 1,000′s of Federal workers helps unemployment.
Oh, wait. I forgot that if you run a filthy meat packing plant and don’t worry about whether the toaster starts a fire, you can hire all kinds of people.
I loathe Republicans. I particularly loathe Romney.
criquet, I think we know Mitt Romney is a liar. The Republicans knows that too, but with them HATE, RACISM, over rule LYING. They hate the President more than they hate lying.
You know sometimes when I am tired, or just don’t feel like volunteering or stepping outside of my comfort zone I just think about the idiot things this man says and it’s all the inspiration I need. ;)
That is what I said upthread. Lis Smith and I must hangout!
Randi Rhoads is on fire today. If you can, Google “iheart radio” and type in “1150″, click on the southern california station to listen to Randi. I was able to use my smartphone to listen to her show all afternoon while away from my home office.
I have the app! Thank you so much. I didn’t know I could listen to Randi on it.
http://thinkprogress.org/education/2012/05/23/489191/romney-latinos-education-civil-rights-issue-massive-cuts/
In a speech today to The Latino Coalition, a pro-business group led by President George W. Bush’s Small Business Administrator, Mitt Romney said the nation’s public education is in “crisis.” But while he publicly claimed that improving education for minority children is the “civil-rights issue of our era,” his recent closed-door remarks to donors suggest that his real plan for education is massive cuts.
In other words he’s lying…again…like always.
What er. say you Toure?!?

First lady Michelle Obama will launch her latest media blitz next week with a string of TV appearances to promote her book on gardens.
Obama is set to appear Tuesday on ABC’s “Good Morning America” and “The View,” and Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart,” the White House said Wednesday. She’ll also tape an interview for “LIVE! with Kelly” while in New York next Wednesday and an appearance on the “Rachael Ray Show” is set to air next Thursday.
Obama’s book, “American Grown: The Story of the White House Kitchen Garden and Gardens Across America,” is being released Tuesday after several production delays that pushed its publication date back from earlier this year. The book includes a history of White House vegetable gardens reaching back to Eleanor Roosevelt’s Victory Garden and also takes a look at gardens across the country.
The media appearances that Obama is doing to promote the book — for which she did not take an advance and from which the proceeds will go to the National Parks Foundation — are just the latest in a sustained effort to boost her public image. In recent months, she’s appeared on “The Biggest Loser,” “Ellen,” “iCarly,” and several daytime and late night talk shows to promote her policy initiatives, Let’s Move! and Joining Forces.
Can’t wait!
are just the latest in a sustained effort to boost her public image.
What is that supposed to mean? Can’t they ever leave out the snark ? Her public image is just fine.
That’s what I thought, Linda..I guess she’ll “boost her public image” outta the statrosphere then!
jovie141, I am looking forward to seeing FLOTUS, let me write it down, because I do not want to miss our wonderful First Lady.
Here’s a DeGeneres segment that will give you a chuckle
NEW YORK — A new Bob Woodward book is scheduled for September, upholding an election-year tradition.
An “Untitled” Woodward book is listed on Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble.com, with no details provided.
Spokeswoman Tracey Guest of Simon & Schuster, Woodward’s longtime publisher, said Wednesday the book would be out Sept. 12. She said she “had no other information to share.”
—
Sounds fishy…..an Untitled book with no details…yet they released the date the book will be out.
I cannot stand Woodward and his hit job books.
Since Colin Powell just came out in support of marriage equality and said Robney’s foreign policy advisors are far to the right, I think it’s safe to say that the GOP will not be looking for Powell’s endorsement any time soon.
He is having a difficult time hiding his admiration for PBO. I loved the way he put down Hannity about the “apology” question.
I saw some young ladies holding up signs for Tony Strickland here in Southern California - one sign said “Honk for lower taxes”, another sign said “Honk for more education”. Do they realize that these are two opposing positions? That the hunt for lower taxes is the very thing that is impacting education? I just shook my head. They were so young, too - sad for them to go through life so uninformed.
Today from Colin Powell:
“I have no problem with gay marriage”.
“The economy is improving”.
“Romney should think twice about the advisers he is choosing”.
“President Obama has not been apologizing for America in any shape or form.”
“Our nationally security is as strong as ever.”
“Everything should be on the table including military cuts/reforms, tax reforms, social program reforms.”
“Russia is not a national security/foreign relations threat.”
“We cannot go backward.”
Amen to all of the above. And thank you General Powell.
Oh and I want to add one … we need more trains! (This girl can dream too.)
He was good!
Another fantasy of mine: a group of sane republicans all supporting PBO’s policies/positions/presidency in a big mash-up of a commercial that runs on Fox News endlessly — especially in the battleground and red states. Throw some Reagan quotes in there for good measure…. …. a girl can dream…
IMHO, Powell was a better surrogate, than any Democrat was the last couple of weeks
I love having Colin Powell out there slamming Romney and defending Pres. Obama. Hopefully more sane Republicans like Hagel (what happened to him?!?) and others will come out and start setting Romney and his supporters straight!
Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Wednesday urged Republicans to stage an immediate vote on extending the Bush-era tax rates for the middle class and making those rates permanent.
In a letter to Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), the House Democratic leader said the issue should be resolved “as early as next week” both to lend confidence to consumers and to ensure the issue isn’t lost amid the chaos that’s expected to mark this year’s lame-duck session.

Very touching article about an iconic photo:
http://www.nytimes.com/2012/05/24/us/politics/indelible-image-of-a-boys-pat-on-obamas-head-hangs-in-white-house.html
There are so many wonderful pictures of POTUS, and kids. And POTUS and his family. I just hope and pray we will be bless with four more years of President Obama, First Lady Michelle, and the family, Bo too.
Wonkette said this was a photo of PBO bowing to another world leader.
meta - I remember that photo. Just beautiful. And the children shall lead us.
White House press secretary Jay Carney ripped GOP criticism about spending under the Obama administration, calling it “BS.”
Carney also said reporting on the GOP criticism without exploring the counter-argument is “a sign of sloth and laziness” during an exchange Wednesday with reporters on Air Force One.
http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/229093-carney-calls-gop-spending-criticism-bs
Right On Jay, the entire Republican Party is full of alot of B.S.
I’m in love with Jay Carney. There, I said it. He is freakin awesome. He said what needed to be said. And he should know, he sat on the other side of the podium. How refreshing to hear someone call out the feckless media stenographers. More of this please.
This is really good. Jane Lynch’s narration is exquisite. Sorry if this was already posted.

This is wonderful, especially since she had harsh words for PBO at one time because she thought he wasn’t doing enough.
New post everyone:

Corn…..is telling it….calling out the media (Halpern) for not taking the fire to the Romney…and calling a lie a lie
