A big win for the Obama administration
I think the country will go thru a “RODNEY KING” moment cause folks will be in the streets, if this whole law is overturned. If people feel as if something that is saving their lives, has saved their lives, saved them money or saved their children lives been taken away by a right wing activist court, look for obama poll numbers to go thru the roof cause folks will be outraged, pissed and hell bend on getting him re-elected to go in to put in another health care law with help from a democratic congress. This court will be opening up a can or worms because people lives are at stake. This law affect the ENTIRE country. Do they want to play with a bomb like this?
This is not like Citizen United case cause folks really don’t like the law but they are not really up in arms in the streets, but if people healthcare peace of mind is snatched because of politics. All Hell will Break Loose
What if you are student who is under 26 who is on their parents insurace? A spouse who was just diagnosed with a disease that is going to cost a lot to care for? What if you are a senior who was getting her prescription drugs for less money? What if you have pre existing condition and now you can’t get insurance? What if your family member is laying up in a hospital right now and the insurance co calls u to tell you Oh, the court says I dont’ have to cover your wife now since she hit the cap, so GOOD LUCK and GOODBYE? What about those who don’t have insurance?
I mean if they strike this whole law down, then we know this was politics. If they strike the mandate down, then I can accept that and that will eventually put the insurance co out of business and then lead to single payer.
Here is the reality. The country as whole hate this law. But they don’t hate whats in it they just want it tweeked and they want both sides to fix this problem. The GOP don’t want to do anything so if the country feels the only way this will get fixed right, is to re-elect this president and get him a democratic congress.
Oh and this will really galvanize the hispanics to the polls cause they love the healthcare law. They have real motivation to vote this november.

I sent her a tweet asking how she puts a positive spin on his actual statements: “making immigrant lives miserable so they self-deport” and “veto Dream Act”. I can’t imagine that anyone thinks Romney has anything positive to say about Hispanics.

A senior White House official said Monday that regulations to toughen oversight of oil-and-gas “fracking” on federal lands are on track despite a two-month extension of the public comment period announced last week.
Heather Zichal, the top White House energy aide, told reporters that she expects the Interior Department rules regulating hydraulic fracturing, dubbed fracking, to be completed by year’s end.
An Interior department spokesman offered the same forecast Friday. But the comments from a senior White House official could help ease jitters among environmentalists, who fear the extension of the comment period, until mid-September, on the draft rules could set back the measure.

Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia (R) not only took a gratuitious shot at President Obama’s new policy against deporting DREAM Act kids in his dissent on today’s Supreme Court decision striking down much of Arizona’s SB1070, he also laid bare his remarkable standard for judging the constitutionality of state laws:
But there has come to pass, and is with us today, the specter that Arizona and the States that support it predicted: A Federal Government that does not want to enforce the immigration laws as written, and leaves the States’ borders unprotected against immigrants whom those laws would exclude. So the issue is a stark one. Are the sovereign States at the mercy of the Federal Executive’s refusal to enforce the Nation’s immigration laws?
A good way of answering that question is to ask: Would the States conceivably have entered into the Union if the Constitution itself contained the Court’s holding? Today’s judgment surely fails that test. [...] If securing its territory in this fashion is not within the power of Arizona, we should cease referring to it as a sovereign State.
So according to Scalia’s logic, SB1070 is constitutional because Arizona wouldn’t have entered into the Union if it weren’t. Brilliant! Well, except for the fact that Scalia’s glib assumption about what Arizona would have done is undercut by the fact that Arizona isn’t seeking secession in the wake of today’s ruling.
But even if Scalia is right, that Arizona wouldn’t have entered the union, or if it tries to secede once its idiot governor figures out what it means, haven’t we already answered the question of what happens to states that try to leave the union? And isn’t it remarkable the Scalia, as a sitting justice, is taking the side that still calls it the War of Northern Aggression?

That the Federal Government have been preventing undocumented immigrants from entering by checking people PRIOR to entering? That deportation of people who have committed crimes has increased? What is he talking about when he says “A Federal Government that does not want to enforce the immigration laws as written” - when all evidence is to the contrary. Where was he with his complaints when President Bush was doing less than President Obama to protect the country and its borders? Isn’t he also the same one who complained about having to actually read the Health Care Law before he ruled on it? He needs to get off the bench…

Okay,,,,what is up with the three o’clock hour on MSNBC? Tried to watch a little of it. EVERYONE is so off the mark on HCR and Ed Randell needs to know what it is like to start a family WITHOUT the government (our tax dollars) paying for their health care! Most people, NOT ALL, but most people by the age of 26 know if they are going to start a family or not. Who the hell won’t buy health insurance at 26 to cover the cost from birth to graduation for that child. I had my FIRST at 28! I waited until we had health care coverage! These pundits have NO CLUE what it is like in the real world. Again, if I hear the words, “both parties” don;t have a plan…..well I would never do violence but high blood pressure would be the result.

QUESTION: So does he think it’s wrongly decided?
GORKA: “The governor supports the states’ rights to do this. It’s a 10th amendment issue.”
QUESTION: So he thinks it’s constitutional?
GORKA: “The governor believes the states have the rights to craft their own immigration laws, especially when the federal government has failed to do so.”
QUESTION: Does (Romney) support the law as it was drafted in Arizona?
GORKA: “The governor supports the right of states, that’s all we’re going to say on this issue.”
Just gpt off the phone with OFA/Chicago. Asked a question about Latinos and deportations AND had a suggestion for messaging change for PBO. As I listened to the speech today, and every time he speaks, he says that the wealthy need to help pay down the debt. I think that the messaging on that is not good. They DO, but the REASON why, is not to pay the debt down, but because they have unfair tax advantages that most Americans DON’T have! When people like Romney can keep money in Swiss or Cayman accts….and pay an effect tax rate of 15% while the rest of middle America pays far more…THAT’S what’s wrong! They said they would pass that along
