Astonishing: 6,500 stood under the blazing sun….

A Secret Service agent perspires as he keeps watch on President Obama at Carnegie Mellon University

Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: President Barack Obama told an enthusiastic, if steamy crowd this afternoon that the election “isn’t just about two candidates or two parties - it’s about two fundamentally different visions for America.”

Speaking at Carnegie Mellon University, he laid out campaign themes he’s been hitting on his “Betting On America” bus tour.

He got big applause when he said, “Why would we want to go backward to the same theory that didn’t work before?” and “The Supreme Court has spoken, the law we passed is here to stay.”

A crowd of about 6,500 gathered on the College of Fine Arts lawn. At least 13 people were treated for heat exhaustion as temperatures stood in the high 90s.

I want to see Willard in 100 degree heat. Reggie Love said once that PBO liked to drive around DC in the summer, with the windows up, and no AC. Reggie was about to pass out but PBO liked it that way. PBO can handle the heat, he is skinny but tough, and people will still come to see him. Softy Willard will suffer, and no one will brave the heat to see him.

Beautiful faces!…what a successful 2 days tour, great job Mr. President!…..

ok now I’m reposting my last post..

How can this bully be vetted for VP?….doesn’t make sense….what is wrong with him?

Gov. Christie (R-NJ) was hangin’ with his family in Seaside Heights … and had just ordered an ice cream cone when a passerby fired off some snide comments about Christie’s policy on education.

Christie got PISSED — and while clutching his cone, shouted back at the guy, “You’re a real big shot … you’re a real big shot shootin’ your mouth off.”

The man shouted back, “Nah, just take care of the teachers!”

The comment only enflamed Christie … who aggresively marched towards the guy and warned, “Keep walkin’ away … really good … keep walkin’.”

Soon after, someone in Christie’s party put his arm around the 49-year-old and escorted him in the other direction.

He’s an overgrown bully. Such a stark contrast to the President; you don’t see him losing his cool like that. I’m with you - I don’t know how on earth Christie can possibly be considered VP material. Quite frankly, I don’t think he’s even Governor material.

        July 6, 2025 at 7:04 pm

He tried to bully Californians when he came here to support Meg Whitman but Californians made him STFU! Christie is a spoiled bully. If he is not careful, one of these somebody is going to knock his teeth out. Governor or no governor, you just don’t get into people faces like that.

    • 18 vcprezofan2
      July 6, 2025 at 4:48 pm

I guess this is an example of Christie’s COMMON touch. These Repubs who have great aspirations towards the WH, or leadership positions in general, have no class or any sense of decorum. Problem is those who vote for them also do not understand the need for a leader to HAVE decorum, maturity, and class - they only want someone like themselves. Remember the Alaska Barbie? And the ‘you lie’ guy? And Walsh the deadbeat? Etc. Etc.

    • 20 majiir
      July 6, 2025 at 4:55 pm

Christie has a highly visible anger management problem. Having to have one of your staff members restrain you should be embarrassing for any politician, but I don’t think Christie cares. The rank and file republicans love this kind of thing, but they never think about the fact that it wouldn’t play well in an international setting where a politician has to practice restraint. According to a post on the Think Progress site, Russian politicians are already concerned about a Romney presidency. A member of the Duma described a Romney presidency as a diplomatic disaster, and a return to the policies of GWB. He also expressed concern about Romney using many of GWB’s foreign policy advisers. If Romney and the republicans don’t think the eyes of the world are on this election or that foreign politicians don’t see the disaster that Romney would be as president, they’re in a state of serious denial.

      • 21 Lovepolitics2008
        July 6, 2025 at 5:08 pm

Except for Netanyahu, I bet that all world leaders are concerned about Romney. They are INFORMED and are very well aware that Barack Obama is an exceptional man and an exceptional leader. Wanna bet that even conservative Angela Merkel wishes that Barack Obama is reelected? If Romney goes to Germany, watch for the germans to do only the minimum to not appear impolite.

This difference may be worth mentioning, but if it becomes “news of the day”, it’s ridiculous.

      • July 6, 2025 at 5:21 pm

According to Knoller the WH says the presidential seal will be displayed “at future campaign speeches, but a campaign official says it won’t be displayed at fundraisers”.

        • 44 0388jojothecat
          July 6, 2025 at 5:34 pm

Agreed. The only way they can increase their ratings is to put Rachel or Tweety in that spot.

    • 45 Lovepolitics2008
      July 6, 2025 at 5:33 pm

Ri-di-cu-lous. Joe Scarborough is OPENLY republican. Gregory’s bias are obvious but officially he has been a “journalist” for quite some time.

And not only Scarborough is a republican, he doesn’t have the credentials nor the temperament for this job. Good God, MSNBC is losing its credibility at a fast rate.

For the record, I wouldn’t want Rachel as host on MTP either. Oh I would love to see her pushing back against conservative lies and distortions. However, since Rachel is well identified as a liberal, her pushing back wouldn’t carry the same weight as if it came from a journalist whose political views are hard to decipher.

Meet the Press needs a journalist not identified with conservatives nor liberals. Someone who will “grill” everyone who goes there, someone knowledgeable who won’t accept BS. If we could see on MTP real journalism, well researched topics and interviews, it would certainly favor democrats but that’s another story…

Something Mitch McConnell Would Never Do: President Obama Consoles Woman Whose Uninsured Sister Died Of Colon Cancer
    Dear Senator McConnell:

I’ve been reading comments about you all over the internet today. Very few flatter you. In fact, most express disgust, and ask why we can’t vote you out of office. I assure them that I am doing everything I can to make sure that happens.,,,,,,

The article linked below, Senator McConnell, demonstrates the stark difference between you and the man you so unjustly criticize. I understand that you are not in this for the money any more. You surely have enough to live well the rest of your life. My guess is that you are in it for popularity and power. I admit that I know nothing about your youth and am only guessing that the few friends you had were probably as cold-hearted and awkward as you, so your political career might be a “take that” of sorts.

I ask you, sincerely, to take a look at this and imagine how it must feel to be the kind of man that President Obama is. You’ve been around him. You know he exudes goodness. Even people who might not agree with his politics recognize that and love him (I’ll bet even your racist base, if they’re honest). Anyone can change if the desire is there. Wouldn’t it be nice to spend your remaining years being loved instead of hated?

President Obama Consoles Woman Whose Uninsured Sister Died Of Colon Cancer: President Obama stopped shaking hands for a moment today so that he could embrace a sobbing woman whose uninsured sister recently died of colon cancer. The sister of Stephanie Miller, from Sandusky, OH, would have been covered if Obamacare were fully implemented when she got sick. Instead, the woman was left without insurance and couldn’t […]/p

    “Your WTF of the Day
Posted on 07/06/2025 at 4:40 pm by JM Ashby

Via Grist, the new CEO of Duke Energy resigned today after only one day on the job, but according to the Wall Street Journal, he will retain his full severance package and relocation expensives for that one grueling day of sitting in a high-rise office.

Despite his short-lived tenure, Mr. Johnson will receive exit payments worth as much as $44.4 million, according to Duke. That includes $7.4 million in severance, a nearly $1.4 million cash bonus, a special lump-sum payment worth up to $1.5 million and accelerated vesting of his stock awards, according to a Duke regulatory filing Tuesday night. Mr. Johnson gets the lump-sum payment as long as he cooperates with Duke and doesn’t disparage his former employer, the filing said.

Under his exit package, Mr. Johnson also will receive approximately $30,000 to reimburse him for relocation expenses.”

oh grasshopper, it was a beautiful thing. My grandfather was the ‘iceman’ in our town. He and his sons (one was my dad) brought big blocks of ice to homes to be put in the bottom of their ‘ice boxes’. My mom, a hairdresser did hair in the kitchen with a pressing comb, before AA women got their hair ‘permed’. My dad was a watchman, who fixed clocks and watches for miles around. They had these things called hands and faces and a little stem that was wound to keep them ticking, yes, an actual sound…a ticking. My best memories were of several cuckoo clocks and grandfather clocks in the house waiting to be picked up by their owners…noon and midnight were a blast. We didn’t need no stinkin air conditioning, we were skinny and tough.
