Morning to you too sailor, good to see you ashore! Any definitive time frame on the hanging on for fulfillment of dreams (I’ve had one ongoing for decades)? Pin it down for me, how much longer?
hey all. hello from sunny coastal maine. what a beautiful spot to get to listen to the best CiC speak. android not writing what i want want w/out a fight so will try later. hugs all around
No surprise that VP Biden is doing a spectacular job exposing the horror and lies of #BainMitt ….

Moreover, it really is time for the #NEWSTAINERS to realize we’ve known for quite some time that the John Birch Society vision for America is one and the same as the 21st Century Republican Party. Buckley’s predictions have all been proven correct.
Clue to #NEWSTAINERS - Dems aren't "Akin-izing" anything. The GOP did that to itself when it succumbed to the Kochs' John Birch Society $$.
Most definitely wants and needs the R in there, LunarSea, so it doesn’t come across being pronounced same as lunacy! Yikes… We know that’s far from your reality!
I think we should get a prize for accidentally posting last on the previous thread at the exact moment when a new one has been introduced!
Brought over from previous (and enhanced): We are eagerly awaiting Mitt’s quick visit to eastern Iowa at noon. Hmmm, who ELSE was in the Quad Cities on a Wednesday, it sounds SO familiar. It’s not like Mitt’s ever original.
Lots of funny anti-Mitt stuff unintentionally (?) showing up at #romneyqc.
I also just learned that PBO is coming back to Iowa again next Tuesday (at Iowa State) and then again to Des Moines on Sept 1. Sounds good!
When Mitt gets here, I hope he takes time to answer a few questions posed in this letter:
I think we should get a prize for reading comments on the old thread long after the new thread is posted and wondering why all of a sudden no one has anything to say. It’s like after awhile you get a ‘aha’ moment and realize there must be a new thread. Once you realize it, you feel a little embarrassed for a nano-second.

First Lady Michelle Obama will be on the Late Show with David Letterman next week on Wednesday, August, 29th, 2012. Coincidentally, that’s when Paul Ryan will be giving his speech at the RNC convention.
VP Biden will be holding a huge campaign rally during the first day of the RNC convention.
Ann Romney’s speech “blockbuster” primetime speech at the RNC convention may not be so primetime after all. ABC, CBS, NBC (all the major stations) will not be covering the first day of the RNC convention and that’s when Ann is scheduled to speak. (If the campaign doesn’t do some quick scrambling) So much for Mitt’s secret weapon.
If it is not covered by the msm, isn’t that like a smoke screen, covering up the fact that the woman is dangerous and an imbecile, and by not allowing her maniacal rantings to be heard publicly, avoiding the true exposure she deserves, and has earned?
I’m a little late. I see everyone has already risened and shinened on this great getting up day in TODdytown!!! I’m investing in Pepto Bismol and popcorn. The convention next week will show a run on both of these. The RRs will be chugging the Pepto and I’m eating all of the popcorn.
My political take today is don’t complain about Robme being a shill for Grover Norquist. Even tough Norquist said they just need someone to hold the pen. Pens are people too my friend!
ha ha ha thanks for saving me chipschica. not lonely with all these gulls flying and darting around everywhere.
and yes I am on vacation again and loving it. have out of state company but today i took a friend for day surgery and am lazily whiling away the hours till he’s released.
sometimes it’s just so nice to be on my own even if only for a few hrs
so of course who do i want to spend that time with? why TODvillagers of course lol
A little humor for the day. I mentioned a while back that we’re holding a Latinos for Obama rally in Lebanon, PA on Saturday. It took a couple of years of patient fundraising to get enough funds for this and we’re hoping to have a great event with music, delicious Latino food, fun games for children, information about health care, taxes and the Dream Act and a dynamic speaker from OFA. We’ve been marketing for weeks and everything at the event is free. Well, now the local Republicans have heard about it and they’re irked. They vow to have their own rally for Latinos in September and they’re running around trying to find sponsors for the event. Rumor has it they’ll be selling their food to help pay for the event. All I can say is good luck guys. Events like these take money, sure, but they also take a lot of heart and cooperation from the Latino community and we’ve been giving it all we’ve got. I’m truly hoping that Latinos in the area can tell the phonies when they see them.
Events like yours also take a LOT of time to plan, grow enthusiasm and buy-in, as you well know. Repubs always do everything for the wrong reasons, the wrong purpose, so they end up with the wrong outcome.
I hope you’ll have the GOP party platform talking points ready!! They are really hating on immigrants.
 Yes, JG, I remembered the date as I promised to send particular targeted virtual support on the day itself. I’m expecting a mah-vellous day for you, your team, and your ‘guests’! Republicans always seem to be a step on two behind everything except in lying, deception and meanness.
Congrats on you all putting this wonderful event together and foooie on the Repubs, they couldn’t come up with an original thought if their lives depended on it.
Which Repug was it who tried to eat a tamale with the corn husk still on?
Gerald Ford, maybe. Jeez, good old Jerry — what a prince of a fellow he looks like when compared to the current crop of loonies.
i scolded the hospital receptionist for having fauxspews on in the waiting are and made her change it. she was none too happy with a big ole scowl in my direction. as if that would make me ask her to turn it back on!

Don’t know if somebody’s already posted this anti-Grover-Norquist-pledge ad for the Democratic candidate in the NH governor’s race, but the ad is really, really good: http://pledgezombies.com/. It should hit the GOP a little too close for comfort…
not surprised to hear jackie. they lack original thought andfollow their leader’s lead in just copying everything dems do.Yet their efforts never pass muster. SEVERELY LACKING LOL
I was looking at that picture on the previous thread of our VP Joe and boy does he looks great. He has a nice sun tan and is awfully daper. We are blessed to have such a formidable, handsome, genuine, funny, fit, honest and brilliant Presidential Team working together for our side. I just love them both.
Apparently, the once famous Neutral Country of Switzerland, is now raving mad at the President for His Continous mentioning of Robneys Swiss Bank accounts.
So, after 1000 years offending their own fucking business, even during all the Wats this is what has gotten Switzerland- raving mad?
Whatever???
@jovie sounds like he must be getting serious pressure from Bain/Rmoney and other such billionaires to do this because as you say after all this time, now they want to get mad.?
maybe they will leave him alone now. We’ll see if he conveniently ‘retires’ in the coming weeks. you must know there is more to this than meets the eye.
HaHa, Jovie, you might not have enough money to qualify for ties to Koch industries… They don’t like middle class, veterans or other reality based human beings!
Telemundo says that the President has a 35 point lead with Latinos, but as usual prefaced with a enthusiasm problem.
Whatever? It’s all mind plucking from Here on out!
Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Martin Dempsey called out a group of special operations veterans for wading into politics with a video claiming President Barack Obama has taken too much credit for the killing of Osama bin Laden.
“If someone uses the uniform, whatever uniform it is, for partisan politics, I’m disappointed by that, because I think it does erode that bond of trust that we have with the American people,? Dempsey told Fox News in a video posted Wednesday.
PAUL RYAN HAS MEMORY LOSS ABOUT HIS RADICAL VOTING RECORD
Ryan vs. Ryan’s record
By Steve Benen
————————-
Republican vice presidential hopeful Paul Ryan sat down this morning with Jon Delano of KDKA in Pittsburgh, offering his first detailed remarks since Todd Akin’s odious comments over the weekend on rape. What was striking about Ryan’s comments was the extent to which they were at odds with his own record.
.
.
Asked to defend his own legislation, Ryan refused. “Rape is rape. Rape is rape, period. End of story,” he said. When the reporters pressed further, asking, “So that forcible rape language meant nothing to you at the time?” The vice presidential hopeful again added, “Rape is rape and there’s no splitting hairs over rape.”
But therein lies the point: for Paul Ryan, Todd Akin, and their far-right colleagues, there is splitting hairs over rape, and it’s not the end of the story. Under the legislation Ryan pushed, if a 13-year-old girl who was impregnated by a 24-year-old man would not be able to use Medicaid funds to terminate the pregnancy, unless she could prove she’d been “forcibly” raped.
Dear Lord, I absolutely LOVE, LOVE when the President tweaks his stump speech! Today adding that (long) list of things we still have to do was INSPIRED! {{{PBO}}} WIllard, old boy, give it up!:lol::lol:
I recall when Obama had visited Atlanta earlier this year, and I saw grown men around the ages of 30-55 jumping up and down, smiling, laughing, hollering, screaming when PBO’s motorcade passed on the street. That was truly a sight to behold.
And they had no shame doing it…they just didn’t give a hoot that they were on camera. All they knew is that they saw their President and that was more than enough for them!!! Obama is not just for the young (and old) ladies…no sir, EVERYONE is allowed to have a crush on PBO!!!
PRESIDENT OBAMA SAYS: DON’T BOO…. “VOTE”. “VOTE”.
I was out of my seat when he said that. Freaking awesome. Everybody gets that message. Bottom line, don’t sit your thumbs and complain about the Republican Party. Get registered to vote and make sure your voice is heard in November.
meta didn’t you see the article on askmen.com which had a list of the top 10 men that guys were allowed to have mancrushes on? Well, as I would have guessed, PBO was #1 on that list :)
And imagine how fine our world would become if more men EMULATED PBO, rather than just admiring him? Ladies, I become faint to consider a world like that! But I am having a wonderful day off, hence my presence here, so have the luxury of contemplating a world filled with PBO type menfolk….
ROMNEY WON’T DISCUSS HIS ENERGY PLAN IN FRONT OF REPORTERS.
Clinging to detail-free campaigning
By Steve Benen
————————
Politico reported this week that Mitt Romney’s campaign advisers believe “diving into details during a general-election race would be suicidal.” The line continues to ring true.
Mitt Romney started to lay out his energy plan at a Tuesday event, but because there were reporters in the room, he decided against doing so.
During a Houston fundraiser, Romney told a room of about 125 donors that he planned to unveil his comprehensive energy plan this week. He said his proposal will specifically relate to fossil-based fuels. But then, he said no more.
“I know that we have members of the media here right now, so I’m not going to go through that in great detail,” Romney said, according to a pool report from the event.
There’s Willard in his blue checked Obama shirt speaking in front of an audience all in new t- shirts which say “Government didn’t build my business. I DID!” Should also have said “I am a low information voter who has allowed myself to be misled by this taken out of context piece of campaign propaganda.”
Watching President Obama’s fired up speech and his very enthusiastic and cheering audience, and I see Paul Redefine Rape Ryan and his stiff crowd on my teevee—-all standing straight as a board—-wonder who picked the guy standing right behind him in the bow tie!—-unsmiling, no joy, no enthusiasm, looked like they had been sent there as punishment. What a contrast.
Romney at end of his Rally: “I need for you to go find one person who voted for Obama last time and convince them to vote for me.” Wait. what? See this is why it is so hard listening to what the enemy camp is doing.
In order for Robney to convince me to vote for him, he would have to show me his plan. Robney has no plan. Even if I was threatned, I could not vote for Robney because Robney has no morals, and no core, and I detest liars. Robney is sounding a little desperate.
CjOS, even if Romney had a plan he could change his plan on a dime. He has no hardheld beliefs and will bend whichever way profits himself. He covers his tracks so we cannot use his past as a measure to judge him by. Secrecy does not create confidence.
Mark Knoller is a racist scumbag. This is not the first time he posts pics of “Obama supporters” at rallies, but making sure the picture is mostly showing black/non-white people. I called him out on it.
@markknoller That is par for the course with ALL Obama rallies, but it's only when they're black or brown you seem to notice. WHY???
Michelle will appear on Letterman during the GOP convention.
That is cool.
But, don’t look now, Miss Ann will probably be going on Jay Leno during our Convention. Bet?
Help! I wasn’t swift enough so I got caught on CBS with Willard, and deciding to be …ahem…’fair and balanced’… I’ve been listening to him. Yikes! He might have added points to his speech, but he hasn’t yet added substance. He has however added the point that this election is about choice, yada, yada! He’s delighted that he’s got Paul Ryan to help him get that job done - getting 23 million people back to work. ..yada yada
[Did you know ] Some one in Mitt’s travels in Europe actually said to him (among other things) “….Mitt, if you are lucky enough to be made president….what we all fear the most is a weak America….” O
Oh God, he’s asking them to do something for him. Find one person who voted for Barack Obama last time and are disappointed with him and convince them to vote for Mitt & Paul this time so that they can take the country back.
Well, TODobots, I’ve now fulfilled my quota of being fair and balanced and giving the other side a chance to present their arguments. Could I have my award of good citizenship now - something that might cleanse the taste of dirt from my mouth? I don’t know what got into me, really, but I’m reminded of my grandmother telling me that the devil always found work for idle hands to do.
I know he wouldn’t be credible before making my on-the-spur-of-the-moment decision to watch, but at the back of my mind I remember J Capehart saying Ryan was good on the stump and never having listened to THIS one for any length of time I risked it to see how I would feel if I tried to listen objectively. It really didn’t take any time for him to get to ‘the economy is in tatters and it’s all Obama’s fault’. I also got the sense that he’s convinced his listeners have no idea what really happened on his overseas trip, and he may very well be right. The camera never once shifted from the view of him and the 10 or so people behind him who built it on their own, and of course he doubled down on that quote, providing context which was more damning in his eyes. By the way he was heckled and pleaded for a chance to finish his spiel and answer any questions (outside) later. During the heckling the crowd started shouting USA! USA! Anyway, enough of Willard; I have done my civic duty (forcing you souls to share in it - sorry, misery loves company) and given him a chance to air his views.
Actually it’s a little piece of a VPJoe’s regular comment when speaking of his father, or his mother. In fact, several bits of phraseology from both PBO and VPJoe surfaced. I saw Ryan doing the same thing in a segment recently when he talked about what his dad used to say to him. I think it’s Willard’s and Ryan’s attempts to seem more sincere as our guys do.
“HR-3″ WAS ONE OF THE FIRST & MOST URGENT ORDERS OF BUSINESS OF THE GOP HOUSE.
Ryan, Akin and GOP Give Sexual Predators ‘Get out of jail free’ Card
By Karen Y.
———————————-
Representatives Paul Ryan (R-Dark Ages) and Todd Akin (R-2000 BC) were proud co-sponsors of HR-3. For those fuzzy on the significance of the nomenclature, “HR? stands for “House of Representatives? and the “3? identifies it as the third bill presented by this congress. In short, it was one of the first and most urgent orders of business of the GOP House that came to power in 2010. HR-3 contained language of “legitimate rape? and sought to revise the legal definition of rape. In essence, the bill endeavored to legally establish – yes, as law of the land – that a woman could not become pregnant due to rape. Thus, if an alleged rape victim was impregnated, said pregnancy was proof positive that she was not raped. Based on this brilliant “medical? breakthrough by unlicensed obstetricians Drs. Ryan and Akin, exceptions for rape and incest could be tossed out of state abortion law without repercussion, since this phenomenon is now deemed physically impossible. Thirteen Blue Dog Democrats and every last House Republican voted in favor of HR-3.
During my 20 seconds of Rush this noon I heard him say that Mitt’s focus on the Medicare issue is working and that Mitt is up 12 points in Florida. Anybody know what he’s talking about and/or what he’s smoking??
Rush is quoting an already debunked poll which grossly oversampled white and over-age 50. . Our go-to person for polling, Jefferson Gauvin had this to say about the poll:
@Defeatmitts That Pollster is a GOP Front and used 90% weighting of 50+ voters and mostly white. Few minorities & 64% sampled over 65
just keep talking $arah and let’s hope she continues to get coverage. As hard as it is for us to swallow, it’s even harder for indies and undecideds. Not to mention, how ’bout the news on the screen directly under her. precious.
Sarah’s mad because she wasn’t asked to speak at the RNC. She just has to keep herself in the spotlight and news, and FOX will oblige her until her contract ends.
i was not watching the rally but know from sitting next to a rally coordinator in ’08 that the plan was then to start chanting Yes We Can! when someone was causing an interruptive ruckus. I believe this time around it has changed to 4 More Years! I see it that way especially when it is the middle of his speeches.
When my late husband was in the military (Vietnam Era) and we had to move a lot. I sure would have appreciated the part of the measure that allowed me to transfer my teaching certificate to the new state we had moved to. It always meant months without work for getting everything in order and hearing back from the state.

President Obama will campaign in three key battleground states during the week of the Republican National Convention.
Obama will visit Colorado, Iowa and Virginia in a two-day swing starting on Aug. 28. Obama will be in Fort Collins, Colorado on and Ames Iowa on Tuesday and Charlottesville, Va. on Wednesday, the White House announced on Wednesday.
The Romney/Ryan plan wouldn’t strengthen the program and wouldn’t help seniors. It would increase costs and lay the groundwork for ending the government’s guarantee of health care.
And this is to be expected. Since its inception, conservative Republicans have opposed Medicare on principle. They don’t believe government should provide health insurance. Paul Ryan — who wrote the template for Romney’s Medicare plan — has a particular hostility to social insurance. To use his words, it takes wealth from the “makers? and breeds “dependency? and “complacency? among the “takers.?
If you wouldn’t trust a fox to guard a henhouse, then you probably shouldn’t trust an anti-government radical to protect the welfare state.
Good morning all!
Mooooooooooooooorning Theo!!
I love this picture - they are all so wrapped up in each other. This is a good team - thanks Chips!
Ditto!!!
I’m with you theo! This picture is so telling on so many different levels! I just LOVE it. :) :)
What a trio. However, one person is missing.
:-)
There you go.
Also Ditto!
Good Morning, Everyone! Hope your Wednesday is progressing as you wish. Hi Theo!
Helloooooooooooooooooo VC!!! ;-)
Hello, Ms Mayoress, Ma’am, it’s a pleasure to see your cheery smile! ;)
Hello all.
This is good, but I want to see a double digit lead on Medicare. Anybody who leaves their Medicare future up to the R boys is a fool.
It’s early still. Wait until after the the conventions, and most importantly after the debates.
Oh the first speaking is firing up the crowd. I guess this is ready to roll.
The first *speaker* - sometimes my fingers have a mind of their own or my laptop becomes willful; not sure which.
Top o’ the day vc and you TOD lot. vc I see you got fairly close on this. Hang in, dreams do come true. :-D

It’s another good day. America is starting to wake up!

It’s about to start now!!!
Good afternoon, my one and only Hopefruit! How are you this fine afternoon?
Oooooooh, they are FIRED UP!!!!!
I like seeing him in a thinking mode!

Thanks Roberta for a great picture!
Whoa, this should go viral. Buzzfeed has dug up video of Ryan railing against abortion health-of-the-mother exemptions. (h/t The Dish)
Okay - they’re getting ready to introduce President Obama! The crowd is PUMPED and FIRED UP!!!

So, after 1000 years offending their own fucking business, even during all the Wats this is what has gotten Switzerland- raving mad?
Whatever???
Um…I don’t believe any of that nonsense. More Romney propaganda.
LOL. Their Minister is denouncing our ads about Switzerland!
Besides, the Swiss Army is busy guarding the Pope!
Aren’t you glad we have a President’s whose allegiance is to the American people and not to the Minister of Switzerland? I sure am! :) :)
Seriously!
Good for him.
Also known as Myth’s foreign policy agenda!
What was that scumbag heckler shouting?
Scum, I would guess.
The Presidents interview with the Nevada appeal-

For those who can multi-task :???:
@jovie sounds like he must be getting serious pressure from Bain/Rmoney and other such billionaires to do this because as you say after all this time, now they want to get mad.?
maybe they will leave him alone now. We’ll see if he conveniently ‘retires’ in the coming weeks. you must know there is more to this than meets the eye.
And i smell a kochroach
What are you talking about? Are you denouncing the fact that I am a Team Leader for OFA?
Are you alright?
What’s going on?
She’s not referring to you Jovie - she’s referring to that minister of switzerland!
Oh, I thought she was saying I had ties to Koch! LOL!
HaHa, Jovie, you might not have enough money to qualify for ties to Koch industries… They don’t like middle class, veterans or other reality based human beings!
LOL!
HAHA! At first I thought so too, so I re-read the comment, and realized that it was the way she phrased the first sentence that caused the mis-read!

FIRED UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Was he incredible or what!
He had me FIRED UP sitting here watching him at my desk.
Dear Lord, I absolutely LOVE, LOVE when the President tweaks his stump speech! Today adding that (long) list of things we still have to do was INSPIRED! {{{PBO}}} WIllard, old boy, give it up!
Now all the ladies are kissing him…..!!
You think one of them would give him a kiss for me?
Oh, yeahhhhhh!
POTUS is FIRED UP!! Wow, he’s just amazing.
And he’s looking so FINE!! Do guys also have a mancrush on President Obama?!!
Yeah they do but they won’t admit it. I just know our amk has one on him.
I’ll just duck and run back to work now.
LOLz!! He knows you’re right but yeah, DUCK!!
NO way! I didn’t see that. OMG, that’s too funny. He’s brilliant, sexy, kind, warm, funny……Honestly, he’s ALL THAT and way, way beyond.
And imagine how fine our world would become if more men EMULATED PBO, rather than just admiring him? Ladies, I become faint to consider a world like that! But I am having a wonderful day off, hence my presence here, so have the luxury of contemplating a world filled with PBO type menfolk….
That is my fondest desire. I’m not sure I’d be able to breathe!

I will lay it out for him, to quote another loser: “drill, baby, drill.” No secrets there…
BRAVA!!
WOOOOTT!!
I cannot recognize my country:
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/08/22/1122970/-Texas-Judge-Raise-Taxes-For-Militia-To-Overthrow-Obama
This is treason, pure and simple! This is beyond free speech.
There’s Willard in his blue checked Obama shirt speaking in front of an audience all in new t- shirts which say “Government didn’t build my business. I DID!” Should also have said “I am a low information voter who has allowed myself to be misled by this taken out of context piece of campaign propaganda.”
I’m really upset that this lie has legs.
I am sure he provided the shirts and bussed in those wearing them….
In NH they turned away people with tickets to his event to make room for bussed in people from Mass.
His entire campaign is a fraud
Quote of the day: Don’t boo - vote! President Obama responds to audience reaction to the Romney/Ryan agenda.

Ok guys, let’s RT this far and wide. It’s very important.
Done!
Happily RT’D! Thanks UT :)
Whoops! I meant COS. Typo.
why am i not surprised. this guy is so underhanded and sick.
He just admitted he cannot convince people to vote for him on his own ?
Bwahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
That’s just copying Michelle’s “Just one person” campaign. They truly have not an original thought in their little pinheads.
Here’s a photo of lots of empty floor space at Mitt’s event that is just finishing up:
Mark Knoller is a racist scumbag. This is not the first time he posts pics of “Obama supporters” at rallies, but making sure the picture is mostly showing black/non-white people. I called him out on it.
You mean the same Paul Ryan who voted against all of PBO’s bills pertaining to jobs. No one except the haters of PBO are buying that swill.
Did Mitt really say (about PBO) - “bless his heart” https://twitter.com/EdTibbetts/status/238333725887303680
Eww - that sounds like something Sarah P would say, it’s just so phony coming from the GOP.
Actually it’s a little piece of a VPJoe’s regular comment when speaking of his father, or his mother. In fact, several bits of phraseology from both PBO and VPJoe surfaced. I saw Ryan doing the same thing in a segment recently when he talked about what his dad used to say to him. I think it’s Willard’s and Ryan’s attempts to seem more sincere as our guys do.
i’m kind of late, but maybe you still want a little something to get that icky rethug taste out of your mouth….you certainly deserve it!

Rush is quoting an already debunked poll which grossly oversampled white and over-age 50. . Our go-to person for polling, Jefferson Gauvin had this to say about the poll:
it’s Rush Limpballs for Pete’s Sake…….. nothing he says carries any weight which is ironic given his size.
Hypocrisy anyone?
Will the media jump on it as they did with VP Biden?
effin’ crickets.
You knew this was coming. No matter the news event she always manages to jump in it.
Trying to change the subject off of Rape
just keep talking $arah and let’s hope she continues to get coverage.

Don’t forget: VP Biden will be speaking at 3PM ET / 2PM CT in Detroit. We have coverage and I believe C-SPAN One will be covering his event on TV.

Curiosity update, now live.
Fox, meet henhouse. Paul Ryan, meet Medicare.
By Jamelle Bouie
————————————
