And watching the press (especially if it’s MSM) scurrying down the tarmac, carrying bags & shit & boarding thru the back door! POTUS meanwhile saunters out of The Beast, right by the front entrance, & everyone else carries his stuff on board later! It’s just delicious & I grin every single time! :) I used to be a really nice person … I promise! :)

NBC/WSJ/Telemundo: Obama up 50 among Latino voters
    By EMILY SCHULTHEIS | 10/3/12 12:33 PM
A new poll of Latino voters out from NBC/WSJ/Telemundo this afternoon shows President Obama leading Mitt Romney among the demographic by 50 points.

    50 points!!!

Mitt is at 21%. John McCain got 30%. Too bad the Republican primary could not have gone on longer because that number would be down to 10%. And that’s just because the 10% wouldn’t be paying attention.

Hey Jacquelineoboomer, here’s a way out for them, had me laughing, though I’d rather they didn’t land in someone’s lovely country:

            http://www.jetblueelectionprotection.com/

With jetBlue’s newly unveiled promotion Election Protection 2012, voters who back a losing horse can avoid the fallout — for a while at least — by flying for free to a number of international destinations in and around the Caribbeans.

To enter, simply declare your allegiance in the Election Protection Poll, and choose a getaway spot. If your man doesn’t come through for you, jetBlue will add your name to a drawing from which 1,000 blue (as in sad) or red (as in angry) Americans will be picked.

And to everyone backing Mitt Romney — good luck!

Good point anniebella. Funny how Chuck feels so comfortable telling us how blacks and hispanics feel about PBO, but never focuses on the vile people who make up Mitt’s base. I’d bet he has more “sources” in Mitt’s base than he does within the black or latino communities.

a string of interesting photos with this article (one is the library picture chips brought in)

‘ On February 18, 1981, a student at Occidental College, Barack Obama, delivered his first public speech. As the opening speaker at a rally protesting Occidental’s investments in companies that were doing business in apartheid South Africa, he stood with one hand in his pocket, spoke in declarative spurts, and showed no sign of being the orator who would become President nearly twenty-eight years later. ‘

Speaking to students at the University of New Hampshire on Wednesday, former President Bill Clinton said that the state Republican Party was trying to disenfranchise college students in the state.

“The Republicans in New Hampshire think it matters, that’s why they have tried to hard to keep you from voting,” Clinton said about voting rights.

While voting rights fights across the country have generally focused on voter ID, the Republican-dominated New Hampshire legislature passed a law requiring students to sign a statement of residency in order to vote in New Hampshire.

Students have traditionally been allowed to vote in the state where they’re attending school without meeting formal residency requirements

The New Hampshire Supreme Court agreed to litigate a lawsuit before election day. A lower court judge issued an injunction last week staying the new residency rules and requirements.

“Choose to vote,” Clinton told the students.

Chips, to thank you for providing this safe haven from which to watch the debates tonight, blog, and share with each others our excitement, I have sent you just now a small donation (Pierce). I look forward to this being my venue tonight. Thank you so much for all that you do for us, for the company, for the pictures, for the news.

I usually donate to the President, Vice-President, First Lady or Jill Biden through materials received through the mail, that is why I have not donated to fundraisers here. I hope I linked to the right thing (the Obama Diary on a previous fundraising post) to donate to you.

I will be here this afternoon too, but just want to say to everyone … see you tonight! As our V.P. told Kobe: Keep the Faith!

Just back from the eye doctor, with eyes still kinda dilated. But I can see the beautiful photos on this site! And the ones of Mitt, too.

I heard somewhere that PBO would have the first question tonight and that Mitt would have the last closing argument. If true, I kind of like that line-up. I figure a lot of Americans have that short attention span thing going - so they will stick around for the intros and debate first question - to PBO - then switch it off. Likewise, those Repubs that stick around to the end to hear Mitt’s wonderful speechifying - they will have to sit through PBO’s sure-to-be memorable speech first. Five more hours and counting…

WASHINGTON (AP) — Madeline Stevens knows what it’s like to be a military brat.

“The first week of school, it’s really hard,” said Stevens, a 17-year-old from Jacksonville, Fla., who has moved eight times with her naval aviator father and attended 10 different schools. “You sit by yourself at lunch; you try and make friends in classes. When you’re younger it’s easier because, you know, you just share crayons, and you’re new best friends.”

But in high school Stevens said she’s had to integrate herself into sports and clubs to make friends, many of whom already have known each other most of their lives. The shuffle also has been a strain academically.

Moving can be tough for any child, but it can be even harder for children of military families, who, like Stevens, may relocate more frequently. They must leave friends behind and get acclimated to new schools that may have a different curriculum than the one they left behind. And the emotional impact of having a deployed parent can also include worry and anxiety, said Mary Ann Rafoth, dean of Robert Morris University’s School of Education and Social Sciences.

“Most of us go through each day not realizing that we’re a nation at war. But those kids do,” she said. “They often feel like they’re carrying that burden alone.”

However, educators often don’t have the tools to help military children cope.

A new initiative being launched Wednesday by first lady Michelle Obama and the vice president’s wife, Jill Biden, is designed to better prepare educators instructing military-connected children. “Operation: Educate the Educator” already has a commitment from more than 100 colleges offering teaching degrees.

This is how a citizen, who truly created something on her own, feels and behaves:

    J. K. Rowling:

“I chose to remain a domiciled taxpayer for a couple of reasons. The main one was that I wanted my children to grow up where I grew up, to have proper roots in a culture as old and magnificent as Britain’s; to be citizens, with everything that implies, of a real country, not free-floating ex-pats, living in the limbo of some tax haven and associating only with the children of similarly greedy tax exiles.
A second reason, however, was that I am indebted to the British welfare state; the very one that Mr Cameron would like to replace with charity handouts. When my life hit rock bottom, that safety net, threadbare though it had become under John Major’s Government, was there to break the fall. I cannot help feeling, therefore, that it would have been contemptible to scarper for the West Indies at the first sniff of a seven-figure royalty cheque. This, if you like, is my notion of patriotism.”

Turkey hits targets inside Syria after border deaths

Turkish artillery has fired on positions inside Syria after shells from Syria killed five people in a southern Turkish border town.

A woman and her three children were among those killed earlier when the shells, apparently fired by Syrian government forces, hit Akcakale.

Turkey’s response marks the first time it has fired into Syria during the 18-month-long uprising against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

FLOTUS said, “I know you have an election going on but it would be nice if you surprise me with something nice”. I wonder what that “something nice is gonna be????

I was at a stop light and noticed a car ahead of me in the left hand turning lane. It was a beast of a truck- big, black with the extended bed and a camper on top. The driver had a military like sticker as well as like sheriff type star on back of the camper top as well as a bumpersticker, noticable because the small Obama logo caught my eye. I admit that I had preconceived ideas based on the type of car, assuming it would be anti Obama. Giving it the side eye, I braced myself and read the sticker.

It had a pic of a dog and the caption said “I ride inside”. The Obama logo was on the corner.

    I smiled. :-)

Wonder what costume Rombo will show up wearing, at the debate tonight. I’m picturing something with a cape, to take on The Great President Barack Obama. Maybe Mitt could be Carnac the Magnificent, but with the answer in the envelope, not the question. We already know he has a couple of masks he’s been wearin’ to finish the picture.

    Gag.

Hello family. Sad and depressing news. Hubby and I finally had a conversation…..if you want to call it that…….about PO and Romney. Short version: His views are exactly what Romney (47% version) and Ryan (30%). He even said we are in worse shape than we were 4 years ago. He blames the entire financial meltdown onDemocrats……Freddie and Fannie line. Unemployment isn’t really much improved because so many people have stopped looking for work, etc.etc. I am leaving a lot out. Stopping at rest area……will finish later.

I’m so sorry. I’m very spoiled because the wife unit is a firm Democrat. Honestly, I don’t think I’d ever be able to be with someone with such diametrically opposed political views. But, love commands who it wills.

True about love, LL. The thing is that I have gotten more and more liberal as I have gotten older and he has gone more to the right. Seriously, his words/phrases were very close to what Romney and Ryan say about makers and takers. He feels we are ready to fall off a cliff. He did most of the talking…….very authoriartian…right-wing— He is right, absolutely right. I said it will be interesting in the coming years when he is proven wrong and I wonder if he will admit it. Of course,he doesn’t think he will be proven wrong.

you’re not alone-lots of folks out there have been swayed by the media and the stories circulating about pbo. keep the faith, tnmtngirl-we’re all praying for you, for your husband, for pbo and the nation.

Thanks. I do know there are many “mixed marriages”. I actually feel sorry for him. He has no desire for facts….again, the typical right- winger that is closed minded and is ALWAYS right……don’t confuse him with the facts! We all need prayer, for sure.

Please join me in a moment of reflection, meditation and/or prayer in the candle room for President Obama’s debate tonight.

    http://www.gratefulness.org/candles/candles.cfm?l=eng&gi=pbo

It would be wonderful if we can get 100 candles lit by the start of the debate.

So Romney is going to accuse the president of being dishonest, that he’s a liar??? A Rove trick—-accuse your opponent of what you are most guilty of, your biggest weakness. Every time Romney’s mouth was moving, he was making some false accusation about President Obama.

and if he did ‘rally the country’ i hate to think what he’d rally us to do or be….so his weakness is actually a blessing.
