I am so glad someone said this!!! I was just telling my sister that Chris Matthews and his guests sounded like the Super Bowl pre-game show and I turned it off. I can’t imagine what it’s like at CNN. Families in danger of losing Earned Income Tax Credit, mortgage deduction, healthcare deductions, etc. have a vested interest in the outcome of the election. The MSM does not. Good afternoon Chips and TOD family. It has been quite awhile since I have been able to comment here. But I want to be with you for this debate tonight. I have great confidence in the President but not with Romney or with Candy Crowley. Things here in MT are very strange. Due to many reasons I am not able to volunteer except for making phone calls from home. I have several friends who have tried to go to the local OFA office and they say they are only calling other states because they know they will loose MT. That has really made us all mad. How can they write off all of us supporters here in MT. Beside our Senate, House, Govenor races are all very close and it is very important for them to be Democratic. I know OFA is doing a great job in other states but those supporters here in MT feel they shouldn’t give up on us. I know we are only 3 delegates but oh well. I have to be so careful with most of the people I work around. They are mostly Repubs. I want to say something but I also want to keep my work. At least nothing has been too bad.

I just got this thick envelope in the main from the President Obama today, and on the front of the letter it said, “Donald, This is our last campaign together.” it knocked the wind out of me for a second. I’m really trying hard to stay focused, but already I miss this man. I remember as a young man reading “The Autobiography of Malcolm X” and how that book changed my life to a certain extent. But what Obama has meant to me is something that is hard to explain. I feel emotionally connected to him.

This is the best good news site on the intertubes - I get all stressed out - and then I see the headlines from Chips, followed up by the tweets posted by utaustinliberal & LiberaLibrarian not to mention Tally having a rant I have to take my 88 year old uncle out to do his shopping this morning (am in my world), so probably will miss some - if not all of the debate - I look forward to all the reports when I get home.

I have learned a lot on this site, for one thing I’ve learned about polls, and about crosstabs, and skewing, and reliability and non-reliability, and credibility….of polls. Most people take them at face value, I used to. So, I am thankful for this site for many reasons, the education being a big one!!! I appreciate the work that so many of you do, and the explanations you write. A number of you could be “Secretary of Explaining Things!”

Oh my goodness, it seems the minutes are ticking by so slowly!!!!!!!!!!! I want this debate to be done with already! I feel like i am on pins and needles. On Fb there is this group named something like “I am happy every morning to wake up when barack obama is President.” i may not have that just right but the title is something like that. Anyway…I UNLIKED that group today believe it or not because of some ridiculous thing they posted that I did not like. I was then later trying to find the group again in a search to send them a message of disapproval and I mistakenly clicked on another fb site with a similar name but it was not a supportive group for POB. The front page of that group had pics of its members up and i kid you not it was all older smiling white guys! i was so disgusted. I am a white woman even…but i do not, not, not connect with that group whatsoever. Yuck! aAl i could think of was that t-shirt seen at a Romney rally within this past week. Sorry about venting….but I am so disgusted with that segment of these United States.

OH YEA, AS AN INTERESTING NOTE, i LIVED ON lONG iSLAND, ENROLLED AND WENT TO ORIENTATION AT hOFSTRA BACK IN SUMMER 1970. (sorry for the caps). I did not pass my drivers license, so I could not start that fall. Ended up going to another university in the south , which was better for me in the end.

Truly Chips I don’t know what I’d do if this site wasn’t here for us. I have complete faith in our President and know that he will blow Robney’s butt out of the water with his quiet calm and intelligence…

The first debate I came here to watch while participating in this blog site. I was very disappointed as it left me feeling so upset at the discussion and accusations. I also had on MSNBC most of the day and hated their criticisms.
The second debate I just watched C-Span and MSNBC, then came here later. Everyone on our side was happy so no problem.
This third debate I am so nervous as all the chatter has made me think it may have a similar outcome with Dems, not good enough. I have not watched MSNBC today because of the expectations. I think I will just watch C-Span alone and come here later. Am worried but praying hard. Love PBO whichever way it goes. I am one of the people that does not think you can call a liar a winner.
I have not had tv on all day. Got into a great discussion on facebook why I support the pres with some Romney supporters, encouraged a few people to vote. Had “VOTE” signs placed in our business, to help inspire employees, and customers. Will watch c-span, text with my grown kids about the debate, and come here for analysis, not giving Chris, Ed, and company the time of day.
I used the same strategy. Stayed off news sites and avoided the cable chatter. I used TOD and Twitter. That’s it. Until tonight’s debate when I will switch to CSPAN.
Someone…..anyone, please: The video of PO talking about how he really doesn’t get angry BUT if anyone tries to take advantage of him (or something to that effect), he will “knock them out”. PLEASE, pretty please.
I remember that interview. It was during the primaries in 2008, and it was in New Hampshire, an interview with one of the major papers. I think this is right,,,I don’t have the clip, but I bet someone does.
So many people mistake being noisy with being forceful and powerful. The President knows that’s not the case. When he gets particularly silent and his eyes glint, is the time to look out for him! And it won’t be a karate chop, it will be a very precise epee slice.

Apart from my conversation with you guys I have the buzzing of my laptop to keep me company. At 8:50pm I’ll turn on C-Span, and as soon as the debate is over I’ll turn it off. All I want to hear is what is said by the participants, and I want to see their body language. The frills, I can do without. The good Lord gave me eyes, ears and a brain and he didn’t feel talking heads were a necessary part of the packet in my understanding my first language!

I am going to be walking the dog during the debate (it’s on at 6 here.) I’ll check in here every once in a while. I don’t have a tv, but even if I did I’d adhere to my #1 rule of sanity: never listen to people who are paid to talk. This particular election seems far zoo-ier than others in my long life, a real circus, and I attribute that largely to the media. I can’t let the crazy energy take over, and, by coming here instead of anywhere else, I keep relatively calm, since I do get infected when anxiety is posted here.
I woke up this morning with a great feeling of calm. I’m not sure where it came from. The sense that I’ve had since 2008, that Barack Obama is an avatar, was especially strong. He is destined to bring us into the future. He has been called. Avatars don’t have an easy time of it (ask Martin Luther King and Nelson Mandela), and they can’t do everything they and we dream of. But their destiny is to advance human evolution, no easy task. And the bane of their existence is the pull backward of human weakness, fear and greed.
As an avatar, PBO needs our constant supportive energy. He needs the genius of Chipsticks, gathering, educating and chivvying an army of supporters, and all the love we bring him. We hold him up. Whatever he’s destined for, we go with him. Let’s create a flood of positive energy.

Hi All - I had an idea that we each consider pledging 25 cents for every Romney Lie told in tonight’s debate then donate the total to the Obama campaign.
Living in Oklahoma, I know the south is very negative about the President. I had a feeling that the South was what swayed the national numbers, and I also think Gallup overpolls the south.
One more reason Pres. Obama needs to win.
Chips, when you post the actual debate thread, I would recommend you state clearly that rule about no newbies today, nicely explaining that you don’t have the time to check each comment in moderation, but that you welcome them back in a couple days. It can get frustrating posting a comment someplace where you are new, being told your comment is in moderation, and it remaining there for hours and hours without any explanation as to why.
A funny——in response to the news that Willard had to practice sitting on a stool—-apparently had never seen one of those dang things, no bar experience.
C-SPAN is showing the town hall stage and 99% of the “undecideds” are white voters. This is who Gallup picked? How does this represent the electorate? We’re more diverse than this.
Well, to be honest, us folks with extra melanin or funny last names aren’t really undecided. We’re voting Obama.
When I found out it was Gallup that chose them. I knew there would be a problem.

This is a good page on Facebook to ‘like’: The Obama Prayer Team. They are prayer warriors for Pres. Obama and the whole administration. I always feel uplifted after I read their posts.

Calm has come over me, Barack Obama does not hold our destiny in his hands, WE hold our own destiny in our hands by voting and working hard to relect PBO……..the only thing BAD that can happen to PBO tonight is for him to fall off the stage and break a bone…..so……my prayer is….Dear Lord please protect PBO from physical harm and give him strength and control to not cause physical harm to anyone else no matter what my thoughts are.
Just heard a tv promo for the upcoming debate: Romney, Obama round two of the debates. Just what the hell is this? A debate or the Ali-Frazier fight ? I will definitely be watching it on channel PBS, then I’ll turn the sucker off.
