Is that a good thing? It’s been in Mercury for a while hasn’t it - and there’s been a lot of chaos and craziness. Hopefully, this means some calm?

Sun into Sag is always a good thing, but the ref to Mercury is a bit different…. Mercury is given the constituency of communication, all things to do with sharing info… It moves into apparent retrograde, or moving backwards when viewed from the Earth, for 20-21 days approx 4 times a year. When this retrograde motion is evident, we seem to have everything crashing, nothing seems to go smoothly, appointments and reservations need more juggling. Posts on TOD become very l.o.n.g and w.e.i.g.h.t.y, before a new thread makes it’s way to the rescue! (only kidding Chips ~ that can happen without the Mercury retro!) conversations can be mis-interpreted, etc. The phase ends on November 26th, but can take or two to smooth out and feel normal again. It might be a lot more fun is Sagittarius than it was in Scorpio! Check out http://www.alanoken.com if you have interest in this sort of thing and the interpretation. LUNCH! only 2 hours late today…. Man, I am hungry!

Oh - thanks so much for the info and the link, Pamela! I have to admit, I’m a novice at this astrology stuff, but I find it so interesting and at many times, accurate. I’ll check out the site you referenced. Glad that the Sun in Sagittarius is a good thing! That Mercury stuff sounds tricky… :)

Something Chips is thankful for: Rafa Benitez about to be appointed Chelsea manager.

Something I’m grateful for: he’ll last only 6 months.

Why didn’t he do it before the election so the state of IL would Not have to be taxed extra for yet another election?

JJ started going Rogue when he was not able to be appointed senator to complete sen Obama’s term. That is sad.

Just watched the pardoningof the turkey….crazy, funny American ritual. Something nice and light after the seriousness of the past weeks. What brought tears to my eyes was watching him put his arms around his two girls as they walked back into the house. The love comes right through the video. I am SO thankful that we have him and his family for four more years.
Like others have said, I just could not imagine Thanksgiving after a Romney election, but he wasn’t elected. We still have our wonderful PBO, and he and SOS Clinton, the peacemakers, have given the world a better Thanksgiving.

The girls had that teenage look that we have all seen (kill me now; I am too old for this; or I am sooo bored) during this ceremony. Dad, however, was having fun by connecting this event to the election. The girls, however, got it together (especially Malia) when they followed their dad greeting guests and shaking hands.

I was thinking the same thing…kill me now. LOL They put up with it though for their dad.

Funny…..that wasn’t my impression at all. I thought, what poised and lovely young ladies. They like being with their dad, you can feel it, and he is thrilled to have them with him.

Don’t recall seeing this posted last week:

    Vice President Biden Celebrates Diwali

The Vice President marked the festival of lights with a closed-press reception for members of the Diplomatic Corps, lawmakers, community leaders…
Vice President Joe Biden on Tuesday afternoon celebrated the holiday of Diwali on the White House campus with a reception in the South Court Auditorium of the Eisenhower Executive Office Building. The closed-press party for the festival of lights that is celebrated around the globe by Sikhs, Hindus, Jains and some Buddhists wasn’t listed on Biden’s official daily schedule, but a post on the White House blog said guests included South Asian American community leaders, elected officials, entrepreneurs, Administration officials, Members of Congress and members of the Diplomatic Corps. After Biden made remarks to his guests, at the conclusion of the ceremony, as he lit the traditional Diya, an unidentified priest from a local Hindu temple draped a blue shawl around his shoulders. President Obama did not attend the reception, but on Tuesday issued a Diwali greeting.

That’s the firt time I recall seeing the girls go down the rope line, especially Malia. What an amazing graceful young woman she is becoming. She strikes me as being the more serious of the two, with Sasha having that glint of michief in her eyes. I suspect Malia will do great things down the road, although not necessarily in the public eye. And PBO just seemed to be having a good time. I’m sure he is relieved he will be able to enjoy the Holiday with the cease fire.

Chips, I was away for much of yesterday but just wanted to tell you what a thrill it was to see the photos of PBO’s trips abroad late last night. I skimmed them then, and went back to them first thing this morning. I know it takes a lot of work to put those threads together and wanted to thank you for all you do for all of us. You are a treasure!

PAKTIKA, Afghanistan — With less than two years before U.S troops withdraw from Afghanistan, American commanders here are going full-bore to ensure that local military and government officials will be ready to take over once coalition forces leave the country.

On the security side, U.S. troops stationed here at Forward Operating Base Sharana in eastern Afghanistan have almost completely moved from battlefield “owners to integrators,” Army Lt. Col. Scott Thomas told The Hill.
