Watching cable news, you will see iteration after iteration of Capitol Hill reporters and other commentators expressing mystification that the House isn’t talking to the Senate, the White House isn’t talking to Congress, Democrats aren’t negotiating with Republicans, etc. Here’s a tip.

John Boehner has already told everyone, including Harry Reid, Mitch McConnell, and Barack Obama, that his caucus isn’t going to budge on the Sequester until after it kicks in and starts causing real pain. He doesn’t have a strategy beyond that. Everyone knows that this is what he’s going to do, so anytime you see someone call for negotiations or compromise, they are either positioning themselves politically or they are actually referring to some time in the future, meaning March.

    Congrats on 1st Vitaminlover!!!

Even with all the evidence and time we have had since 20 Jan 2009 to realize just what the GOP’s anti-American, anti-PBO agenda is, it still is sorta mind-bending that we are living in a moment when, as so many have warned over the centuries, the MOST DANGEROUS enemy is the enemy within …

They set in motion – from the very idea of the sequester itself to the knee-jerk opposition to anything he’s for – a series of manufactured crises. What they forgot is that manufactured or not, when crises arise, the people look for leadership to the President. Right now, they see a president providing that leadership and a Congress busy manufacturing even more crises.

Morning Joe is giving Bloomberg the ribbon for winning the gun war – I just can’t understand that man – what does he think VP Biden has been doing for the past couple of months. When 61% of the country want gun laws tightened – it is not Bloomberg doing all the work – I am pleased that anyone fights the gun laws – but as usual the President and his administration are leading the fight.

I see this as them both working in tandem to achieve the same goal. Personally, I don’t really care WHO does it, WHO claims credit, just that it gets DONE! Those of us “in the know” know that the President and VP have been hard at work on this, but Bloomberg has the vehicle and the $$$ to go after individuals that side with the NRA….see Robin Kelly primary….this insanity must stop! df – I agree with you – I don’t have to live with the incessant gun deaths – I have no idea how the parents who lose their children this way get up every morning – but when the person who has done more for your country than anyone else in the past 20 years is NEVER given credit by the media – to get colloquial – it stinks.

    Awesome!! http://www.motherjones.com/blue-marble/2013/02/watch-live-how-us-navy-leading-charge-clean-energy-and-climate-change

The US Navy is now leading the charge towards clean energy—which is big news for national security and even climate change. Through investments in biofuels, construction of a more energy-efficient fleet, forward thinking about issues like rising sea levels and a melting Arctic, and commitments to reduce consumption and reliance on foreign oil, the Navy is poised to “change the way the US military sails, flies, marches, and thinks.”

    http://politicalwire.com/archives/2013/02/27/republicans_are_losing_the_spending_argument.html

A new Washington Post-ABC News poll finds 67% of those questioned disapprove of the “way Republicans in Congress are handling federal spending.”

Key findings: “Forty-four percent of self-identified Republicans approve of how their side is handling spending issues, while 51% disapprove. Even the base of the party is less than enthusiastic about how the congressional GOP has approached the issue — with 50% of conservative Republicans approving and 49% disapproving. Compare that to the nearly nine in ten (87%) of liberal Democrats who approve of how Obama has handled federal spending.”

PBO is taking ALL their toys away!! Couldn’t happen to a more deserving group of idiots….this is the long game, people! Not just for the moment, but for generations to come:) Love my President!

It’s quite amusing at the minute – a GOP punter is raving about Rubio and Christie as the wonder guys in the party. If Christie doesn’t lose weight he won’t survive a country wide campaign – and Rubio will implode like Palin when asked the easy questions.

i just read it DF. Brilliant as always. Smartypants nails it every time. One of my favorite posts is this one….

Obama stole all the GOP’s good ideas

      ———————————-

Tell me where he’s left room for the Republicans to develop any meaningful alternative. As I’ve said many times, their choice has always been to either work with him or paint themselves into a marginalized extremist corner.

We see this playing out right now as Sen. Rubio works desperately to both embrace meaningful immigration reform AND tries to pick a battle with the President. He’s having one hell of a time trying to find some real estate not already covered by President Obama on which to make a stand.

While the extremes on both the right and left continue to fight their battles, President Obama has turned all of their ideas into pragmatic solutions to actual problems. That leaves both groups with the choice of either fighting for ideological purity or getting to work with him on finding real policy solutions. With the American people behind him now, those who choose the former are seen to not be terribly interested in the latter. That’s why they’re losing.

Three people have been killed and seven injured during a shooting at a factory near the Swiss city of Lucerne, local media quote officials as saying.

The killer is among the dead, police and prosecutors are reported as saying.

Shooting broke out in the canteen at the Kronospan wood processing plant in the town of Menznau at around 09:00 (08:00 GMT).

According to the Geneva-based Small Arms Survey, Switzerland ranks third in terms of gun ownership, behind the United States and Yemen.

Street gun violence is very rare in Switzerland, says Emma Jane Kirby, who recently investigated the subject for BBC News.

However, there are more domestic homicides and suicides with a firearm in Switzerland than virtually anywhere else in Europe except Finland, she says.

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-21601323
