Oh, MightyPamela, your “Lots of lovely pollen coating everything here” sounded so good … we keep going back into winter here in the Midwest! Give me some lovely pollen any old day.

It’s all the way up to 44 degrees, here in River City south of you. And I also have first daffodils in my yard, go figure. And last night the weather man said “rain turning into snow.” Me no likey!
As we got ready to leave school and I was telling the students they had to wear their coats, they said “But it’s Spring!” and I said “But it’s Snowing”, to which they replied “But it’s Spring! How can it snow in Spring?” I just shook my head and thought “You poor innocent foolish babies. You’re living in MICHIGAN!!!” I had this conversation approximately 15 times in 10 minutes.
I shall wish for 75-degree temperatures under sunny skies for both of us, and no precipitation for at least a week, starting tomorrow! Or at least IN THIS CENTURY.
You need to pace yourself and really examine what absolutely has to get done. Put yourself first, for once. You’ll get better that much faster and be ready to conquer the world.
That has been the lesson all these weeks, 57, and a steady learning curve it has been. There is a tussle for High Priority, and those nesting pairs of birds are way up there. If you knew me, you would be quite proud of all I am letting slide by, tho you might think I am a rather messy housekeeper!
Chips - Thanks, in particular, for that last thread - will take me “more coffee” to get through it! Loved hearing this morning that Gov. O’Malley is considering a run in 2016. That made me smile, bein’ part Irish, with O’Malleys in my family, to see yet another Irish-American run for President. Some of our immigrant ancestors, of course, came to this country seeing “Irish Need Not Apply signs” waiting for them. Only takes a century or two for us to change our ways.
If he does end up running, I guarantee that at every one of his rallies he’ll be doing his signature “move FORWARD, NOT BACK” gesture from the DNC. It’s so iconic and so him lol!
Almost. The “O” comes from Obama, and the “Boomer” comes from my being one of the original baby boomers (I shudder to add: of last century) who love President Obama. But the “O” would also always come from my Irish streak!
I’ve often thought that one of the reasons he’s so well-grounded is that every night, he has two daughters telling him that he “just doesn’t get it,” “no, you’re not cool!” and “please don’t be so embarassing.”
You know, I double-checked the tweet URLs before I hit “Post Comment” so don’t know why the wrong tweet posted here. Guess it’s either my computer or some sort of other techie glitch. Trying again:

We certainly have our work cut out for us in NC - the phone banks I’ve captained so far have gone very well and we’ll need every ounce of help we can get!
Good day all. Love the tattoo story. Condolences to the family of the young officer. Yet another casualty of this madness of violence. We can only pray for better days ahead.
Both PBO and Joe, in remarkably different ways, are able to touch the souls of mourners. I am unable to watch, but in my mind’s eye, I can easily see and hear Joe say those words. I know what his tone of voice is, the expression on his face, the gestures.
I too love him, love him. What compassion, warmth. I can’t put into words the depth of feeling I have for our Vice-President and how important he has been to our President, and therefore, to us. He is one of a kind.
I will watch our VP’s remarks again from the memorial, to take it all in, but I think when he was quoting an Irish poet, he said something like, “I don’t quote Irish poets because I’m Irish; I quote them because they are the best poets.” Some of their poems are clearly the best, especially when it comes to pain and loss and - the bigger one - love for each other.
WASHINGTON — Senate Democrats are delaying a confirmation vote on Labor Secretary nominee Thomas Perez after Republicans threatened to use a separate hearing to criticize his handling of a whistleblower case.
A vote in the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee that had been set for Thursday has been pushed back to May 8.
Committee Chairman Tom Harkin of Iowa says he was concerned that Republicans would use the separate hearing to attack Perez when he would not be present to defend himself. Harkin canceled the other hearing on whistleblowers, which also was set for Thursday.
Republicans have criticized Perez for declining to intervene in a whistleblower case while he was at the Justice Department. They claim the decision was based on political ideology and not the merits of the case.
The Republicans are really racking it up, aren’t they, Linda. If they mess up on immigration and turn the Perez nomination into a witch hunt, they are going to royally P.O. Latinos and other immigrant group. I almost want them to try it, but it wouldn’t be fair to Perez.
I have a question: if corporations are ‘people’ and they have the right to the First Amendment, can they be tried as criminals and murderers under the other amendments?
Shower the People
You can play the game and you can act out the part
Though you know it wasn’t written for you
But tell me, how can you stand there with your broken heart
Ashamed of playing the fool
One thing can lead to another; it doesn’t take any sacrifice
Oh, father and mother, sister and brother
If it feels nice, don’t think twice
Just shower the people you love with love
Show them the way that you feel
Things are gonna work out fine if you only will
Shower the people you love with love
Show them the way you feel
Things are gonna be much better if you only will
You can run but you cannot hide
This is widely known
And what you plan to do with your foolish pride
When you’re all by yourself alone
Once you tell somebody the way that you feel
You can feel it beginning to ease
I think it’s true what they say about the squeaky wheel
Always getting the grease.
Better to shower the people you love with love
Show them the way that you feel
Things are gonna be just fine if you only will
Shower the people you love with love
Show them the way that you feel
Things are gonna be much better if you only will
Shower the people you love with love
Show them the way that you feel
You’ll feel better right away
Don’t take much to do
Sell your pride
They say in every life
They say the rain must fall
Just like pouring rain
Make it rain
Make it rain
Love, love, love is sunshine.
Oh yes
Make it rain
Love, love, love is sunshine
Yeah, all right
Everybody, everybody
Shower the people you love with love
I saw James Taylor singing. I have grown to truly appreciate this guy. He has been a loyal POTUS supporter. And he is a fellow Carolinian. North not South.
At this moment, the House is busy trying to introduce a bill to get rid of funding for pre-existing conditions. The Republicans have a mental condition.
I’m sick to death of students of ‘history’ who think Johnson, JFK, Lincoln, FDR or anyone else could have done better than PBO. There is no period in American history that remotely comes close to this Republican Congress.
They should have to go out and purchase health insurance under the same conditions as the average person. Since they don’t have to worry about things like that, they could care less about how the bills they introduce will impact most citizens. I’d bet the “47%” doesn’t even register on their radars.
In many ways, Chris Cuomo, who’s now with CNN, takes on all of the “good traits” of his dad (his brother Andrew has less, from my POV). I’m no longer much of a fan of his dad, but I used to think he was really special, pre-President Obama’s “reign of terror.” Hope Chris doesn’t let himself down with any bashing of our wonderful President!
No - Not Chris. I have not heard him criticize PBO - I’m just trying to be preemptive (as if he cares)! His dad Mario Cuomo is a big Clinton supporter, and I’ve heard him “criticize” President Obama in the past. I like Andrew Cuomo as well as Chris, but Andrew’s not as calm and charismatic as Chris - strictly from my perspective.
Several people have said that putting gun control on the back burner is bad. My thinking is different. Any Senator who changed his mind right now and voted for gun control would be in big trouble with the base, which has long memories. I would like to see it kept in front of the public and then reintroduced next summer. One of two things will happen:
1. The vote will be basically the same which, based upon what we are seeing, will really put those who vote against it in trouble, even in red states. Specially since it will still be frersh in people’s minds.
2. Many of the GOP Senators who voted against will vote for, seeing the backlash and wanting to avoid it. That gets it based, which is good, but also puts those running for reelection in a vulnerable spot. They have pissed off their base, possibly losing votes, and the Dem candidate can say it is just pandering to get elected and bring up the earlier no vote and say that is where the GOP Senator really stands.
It could then result in even better legislation than this last bill was.

Oh, MightyPamela, your “Lots of lovely pollen coating everything here” sounded so good … we keep going back into winter here in the Midwest! Give me some lovely pollen any old day.
Inorite… I do think of all o’ y’all when I’m dealing with the pesky pollen, but I am also aware of a deep sense of gratitude that we still HAVE pollen, what with our pollinators in peril….. I’d really better go…. my birdies are working so hard out there in the sunshine, they will be needing fresh water…. BYE!
Awww …. enjoy all of it.
That would require it stop being winter in Chicago. Outside of my office, we’re getting the first daffodils. I never remember it being this late.
It’s 41 degrees here.
It’s all the way up to 44 degrees, here in River City south of you. And I also have first daffodils in my yard, go figure. And last night the weather man said “rain turning into snow.” Me no likey!
No joke! I was snowing all afternoon today in beautiful downtown Michigan.
Oh no!! Hang in there!
Oh, that is SO funny! Snow, snow, go away, do not come back for another day - NEXT YEAR!
oh please oh please oh please!
I shall wish for 75-degree temperatures under sunny skies for both of us, and no precipitation for at least a week, starting tomorrow! Or at least IN THIS CENTURY.
Amen to that!

It’s an important life lesson to put your wellbeing and health ahead of a dust mop. It’s tough, I know, but a lesson well-learned.
I’m watching you, girlfriend! Do you cause yourself any relapses!
Well, well, well! Look out world. They are both awake and Satan is on the run!
Something tells me you aren’t really afraid, Sailor Man! :)
Who me, afraid? Not now. Maybe 25-30 years ago. I can always use some excitement in my life now. :-D
Yeah, tell me about it! :)
You are hilarious, Yardarm! Welcome back to the blog; everyone missed you.
Where have you been? I’ve been back for a coupla days and have suffered at the hands of some of these er, ah, shipmates? :-D
i mostly lurk, seldom comment. Cannot believe how disrespectful those shipmates are toward you. Are you going to call for a mutiny? lololol
Not until I finish my time in the brig, eh? :-D
loved the Canadian “eh?” reference!
Helloooooooo Barb!
Good Mornin’ Chips. Beautiful sunny day in Vancouver.
Wo0t, congrats on #1.
Here’s props from Jeff Gauvin:
Love those RCMP officers!
I used to pretend the RCMP rode me to grade school in the morning. Oh, wait, that was The Lone Ranger. (Looks like I need more coffee!)
Ah, the ’50s.
lol. Trying to visualize that one!
Sure it wasn’t Sergeant Preston of the Yukon with his horse Rex and dog Yukon King. God, I am old.
Sheesh, I’m worried about how you’re going to get up the aisle now, unassisted.
You’ll have to carry me.
 I had to carry Mr Dotster too in the rehearsal. I’m exhausted from it all.
Oh, wait, you can’t see photos at work …. check out the alarming image when you get home!
Actually, it is only a few that I can’t get at work. This one is fine. You have obviously slimmed down from the picture yesterday.
I exercised quite a bit overnight Japa!
Well I remember all that, too. God, I am old (too).
It may have been Dudley DooRight! (of the Canadian Mounties)
Woot! First looks just fine on you cb4O! ;)
Thanks MP; hope I get a picture with PBO and Bo.
Hey Barb! Congrats on First!
It really is soooo exciting as I’m usually last to comment; from westcoast!
There is one and only one family tattoo that the Obamas could ever get!!! The Obama “O”
Were they to do so, it would be a boost for ink joints across the country!
And I had this exact thought… It would be really cool actually, all the Obamabots in the world could be identified by their ink!
Yes, that wouldn’t make us “Obamabots” or anything. Ha!
I was thinking the same thing!
Chances are that is the LAST tat those girls would consider!
Chips - Thanks, in particular, for that last thread - will take me “more coffee” to get through it! Loved hearing this morning that Gov. O’Malley is considering a run in 2016. Morning Jacqueline! I can’t even bear to think about 2016, but Gov O’Malley would ease the pain a little - love him!
I’m with ya on those 2016 thoughts, Chips. Let’s stretch out the next three (plus) years!!! With your help, they shall remain glorious.
If he does end up running, I guarantee that at every one of his rallies he’ll be doing his signature “move FORWARD, NOT BACK” gesture from the DNC. It’s so iconic and so him lol!
me neither chipsticks, I just want to enjoy the next 4 years (almost) with the best president ever.
As I’ve mentioned, only a gazillion times,Jacqueline, Gov. O’Malley would be the best pick for 2016. Let’s keep the Irish ancestry in the WH!
:)
SO! That’s where the O’Boomer comes from….. Curious minds…. ;)
Almost. The “O” comes from Obama, and the “Boomer” comes from my being one of the original baby boomers (I shudder to add: of last century) who love President Obama. But the “O” would also always come from my Irish streak!
(I knew that)
{{{JO’B}}}
Me too.
(Hey, it’s early.)
OMG, how much do I love this man.
What a perfect response.
And sign me up for viewing that You Tube of the Obama family showing of their family tatoo (exactly the same tattoo in exactly the same place). LOL.
That’s just about the coolest way ever to dissuade a kid from getting inked! Love it…
Gato
Agree 100%.
Such a cool POTUS; soooooo jealous of Malia and Sasha for having such an amazing Dad.
Still crossing my fingers that the First Family visits Montana this summer for some quality fly-fishing time with Brian Schweitzer!
I’ve often thought that one of the reasons he’s so well-grounded is that every night, he has two daughters telling him that he “just doesn’t get it,” “no, you’re not cool!” and “please don’t be so embarassing.”

Yeah, mistaken people like Palin and Ayotte can go off and form a “think tank” together. Oh, my, just made myself laugh at them. Again.
Yeah the image of a Palin-Ayotte Think Tank is both amusing and depressing at the same time.
You’re right about that “depressing” part. Which is why I usually like to call the latter one “Coyote Woman,” strictly for laughs.
I guess the ‘think’ part of the think tank would be empty.
Great news about Sen. Ayotte, maybe we can get that seat turn blue.
Maybe Ayotte will learn a lesson from following McCain and Graham.

Well, you can’t go around infringing on people’s 2nd Amendment Rights just because their name is on some silly list.
NRA fought tooth and nail for this. And they have power, why?
Everyone who has an “A” rating from the NRA earned it by pushing this kind of stuff for the NRA. They should be ashamed.
Despicable.
