Did you guys read what FLOTUS said about their trip to Robben Islands? At the tweets, where she said ” Today our family visited Robben Islands for an experience we will never forget.”

Sorry to be so OT, I think I’m trying to distract myself from My Madiba, beautiful, courageous human being. I just can’t bear him being gone from amongst us. But, he has his own journey to travel, as do we all. And he has lived an enormous, exemplary life. Bless!

Just had to share what these young people are producing in the SF Bay Area. I know all of them from young tikes. BTW, this is not PG-rated, at least as far as the music link. I try to encourage all artistic endeavors, and they’re working hard. Lovely group of young people. If you’re into hip-hop & its fashion, etc., please click the link & share]:

just thinking about the places PBO has taken his US Secret Service Detail -

    - places many could not have imagined going because POTUS’s interests are so diverse, deep and all-encompassing. (poor areas, cultural areas, centers of learning, historical sites, palaces, religious monuments & places of worship etc)

remember PBO visiting the residents in the poor sections of Brazil

    • 41 vcprezofan2
      June 30, 2025 at 6:41 pm

I do remember PBO visiting the favela in Brazil, but I never before considered this aspect, GCLinda - he is indeed exposing his SS detail to many (more than likely) new-to-them venues. Though, one might wonder how much of the places they truly see, as they have to be focused and alert to potential danger all the time.

      • 42 globalcitizenlinda
        June 30, 2025 at 7:38 pm

Yeah, their focus is on PBO & the First Family - as should be.

But I think the USSS is sometimes surprised by the intense reaction to PBO from people of so many backgrounds.

the protective detail & trip planners probably ask themselves: where in the world will PBO head to next

I sincerely do not understand the games Ecuador is playing. It is not a win, win situation for them. They really should stop playing this game for they can easily be crushed.

      Venezuela, Ecuador.

      Hmmm….

Assange may have cooked #Snowden’s goose with his arrogance. Being an Aussie and Europhile, may not realize that the Americans are part of the same (Western) hemisphers.

Along with Kerry and the Mid-East, could this be a catalyst for a spectacular Foreign Policy summer?

      Keeping my fingers crossed.

I do think if it’s at all possible for Snowden to travel, Russia will convince Maduro to take him back with him.

        • 61 Layla
          June 30, 2025 at 8:11 pm

Yep! Maduro detests PBO, called him a devil…

          June 30, 2025 at 8:34 pm

All Snowden would be doing in that case would be expanding his rap sheet. The dude is already a fried fugitive.

If Venezuela wants the inevitable consequences of harboring an American spy/traitor/fugitive they’ll suffer for it, for sure.

PBO & AG Holder have all the time in the world. Justice will be served, of that I have no doubt.

It’s illegal to travel without a passport. Snowden’s passport was nullified by the US Government a couple of weeks ago. Irrespective of how much a particular Venezuelan President doesn’t like an American President, Venezuela has had an extradition treaty with the US since April 14, 2025 (43 Stat. 1698). So, it’s all a matter of how many laws these dudes want to break. The US has no reason to rush. Snowden, Greenwald, Poitras + whomever the $$$ sources are have already done the damage to our National Security. It’s all retribution from this point forward and anyone wanting to become a target of that retribution will regret it in the long run.

I feel bad for @kurteichenwald. He is trying to have an intelligent Twitter conversation with some Daily Kos Greenwald cultists. Lol, he keeps telling them they don’t understand basic NSA procedures and asking if they are tea partiers. https://twitter.com/kurteichenwald

For sure. They throw around the words “surveillance state” now like Teabaggers say “socialist state”. I have to say he can type fast and stay on top of the argument with actual facts. All their bs would get me pissed off and distracted.
