Arapaho, I thought that some GOP U.S. Senators regard the president as “exotic.” The last time I checked, quite a few past American presidents enjoyed playing golf. I include in that company, the lovable Gerald Ford who was not known for his accuracy but was enthusiastic about his golf game. Full disclosure: I really don’t know much about golf, although I earned 3 units in PE credits ( a “C”) when I took it in college, way back in 1966. I highly doubt that I could have played as well as President Ford. All I am saying is what does President Obama have to do, other than swallowing a pill to make himself completely white, for right wingers to accept him as a typical American? I think President Obama is the most athletic President in my life time. There is no doubt that he is the most knowledgeable President about Basketball. But he is also well versed in baseball, football, soccer, hockey and golf. I don’t care what the Obama haters say, but President Obama is, without a doubt, the most well rounded president in my lifetime. What we have in President Obama is an avid sportsman with a first rate intellect and sharp political skills.

I am pooped! It was a fantastic birthday.
We saw Fruitvale Station this evening and there was not a dry eye in the theater. I highly recommend this movie. It is an emotionally charged and profound story. My heart aches for his mother, daughter and girlfriend.

If you’re on Windows, you can use your keyboard shortcut keys to zoom in and out.
CTRL+SHIFT+ (plus or minus key at the top of the keyboard)
In other words, if you wanted to type the + sign, you have to hold the SHIFT key down to do so. To zoom in (bigger font, etc.) just hold down the CTRL key at the same time… CTRL+SHIFT++ or CTRL+SHIFT+-.
Probably as clear as mud, but being an oldtime Lotus 123 user, always preferred keyboard commands to fiddling with my mouse.

GGail-I’ve had that problem since I got a larger monitor a year ago. I don’t think it’ has anything to do with the settings because it only happens with TOD. I was frustrated at first, but now have gotten used to it. But please, I’m the most electronically challenged person I know, so don’t take my word for it. Only know that this was my experience, as well.

The comments/letters are all about the terrible things the government has done & the RW opposition (who will probably win the election) is offering to cut company income tax. I retrieved my sense of reality by listening to Glenda Jackson tell the truth about Margaret Thatcher - which equally applies to all RW politicians since the 1970s.
Just so folks are aware, the latest rash of racist stuff being reported in the media, from the Arizona & FLorida “protestors” to the MO Rodeo stuff are carefully orchestrated acts sponsored by GOP political operatives. Don’t think for a minute these are random events…this is the ONLY way the GOP can get votes in the 2014 midterms. The media is just playing along - pretending to be just reporting, but doing their part to help spread racist propaganda.
Another thing to be aware of is that the online comments sections of most news outlets are highly manipulated, and not representative of the public. When 95% of a comments’ section is negative with the most vile, hateful rhetoric about a President who won with 51% off the vote, you KNOW that something is amiss. Positive comments are censored or removed, and only the most nasty, anti-Obama stuff is allowed. Also, some of these sections are also filled with paid GOP political operatives posing as “ordinary” people.

AG Holder to take another step in ending the war on drugs
Tonight AG Holder will give a speech in which he will announce the end of the use of mandatory minimum prison sentences for low level drug users.
In a major shift in criminal justice policy, the Obama administration will move on Monday to ease overcrowding in federal prisons by ordering prosecutors to omit listing quantities of illegal substances in indictments for low-level drug cases, sidestepping federal laws that impose strict mandatory minimum sentences for drug-related offenses.
Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr., in a speech at the American Bar Association’s annual meeting in San Francisco on Monday, is expected to announce the new policy as one of several steps intended to curb soaring taxpayer spending on prisons and help correct what he regards as unfairness in the justice system, according to his prepared remarks.
Saying that “too many Americans go to too many prisons for far too long and for no good law enforcement reason,” Mr. Holder is planning to justify his policy push in both moral and economic terms.
