Congrats Bobfr but isn’t their anniversary tomorrow, the third? If I remember right, because ours is today, hump day! ! ! Won’t let hubby near Chips. ;) We’ve only been married twice as long as the first couple, forty-two! ;););)
It’s only about 7:35 here so it seems early to me. Just sitting home watching old movies. Hubby just put pumpkins in the garage because of storm warnings. So I took a break to check out TOD. Also listen ended in on an OFA Conference call. It’s going great for ACA.
I usually forget, but it just happened to be a break and saw my reminder. It was very upbeat. Thanked us and reminded us to tell people they have until Dec 15 to sign up so don’t let them get discouraged. Everything has been covered on TOD as far as information. Told us how important it is for people to hear it from people they know from their communities. My battery went out but I think I heard all the questions and answers, just missed the wrap-up. There will be another on Oct 9. Not sure of the time but I’m sure you’ll get another notice. I think I’ll send them a suggestion to put the questions and answers in memo as soon as they can after the call because so many can’t always make that exact time. Also good for those of us who take terrible notes and have short memories. ;)

And that could create a financial hardship for those who depend on the stores’ steeply discounted prices to make ends meet — particularly young service members with families to feed or retired veterans on fixed incomes.
About 12 million people — including military personnel, retirees and their families — are eligible to shop at the 246 commissaries on military installations worldwide. The commissaries typically carry everything a national supermarket chain would — including brand-name products — but at much lower prices than their commercial competitors.
Screw you, military families. You’re only important to the Republicans if you’re trying to visit a memorial in Washington this week and can be easily used in a photo-op.
Yep, my mom and dad still make the trek to the nearest base to go to the commissary & post exchange (essentially a department store) as often as they can. Both the commissaries and base exchanges are usually staff by military family members and civil servants.
It’s really heartbroking to think of how many people are being put out of work by this stunt!

He said the President has an excuse for everything and that there are lots of problems, not just traffic. EXCUSE ME! IT’S THE SECOND DAY FOR HEAVENS SAKE!! It is no worse than when you are trying to get good seats at a concert. These people make me sick.

The media should be asking this question over and over again. If it is such a disaster then WHY did they vote for it in their own budget? WHY won’t the media hold them accountable?? This should be the only question they are asked. Boehner should be asked this every single minute.

Each time I see that photo, I recall that day because I worked as a volunteer for this campaign event and got to shake hands with both.
Since that time, I can’t walk on the path near that spot without thinking of the day ( I even saved newspaper reports of that event).
I have to say that that photo has always given me goose bumps. It was during the campaign for the midterms in 2010, wasn’t it ? I remember watching that particular speech. The crowd was very enthusiastic. But there was melancholy in the president’s eyes. I think he knew the election would be a bloodbath. He was giving it all, but he didn’t have much hope. Michelle was trying her best to cheer him up; she introduced him and when the crowd roared, she looked at him with so much love and encouragement; she was like …. “see ? they still love you, they still have faith in you”. And I was watching at home with tears in my eyes. I was aching for him, and for Michelle.
That’s why I can’t look at this photo without getting this sadness in my heart again. From now on, I’ll think of your story and it will help. Promise !

Lawrence is probably in Africa. He raises funds to help provide school desks for African students through UNICEF, and he makes a trip to Africa at about this time of the year to help deliver the desks. This is a wonderful effort because the desks are constructed in the villages by parents. The effort has become a good business for the African countries that are involved. Lawrence is awesome on so many levels.
I do not think he would stand for MSNBC muzzling him. He makes it clear this is a side job for him. He loves writing and developing shows like “The West Wing!” He has said he won’t do this for a very long time.

Maybe the 1% are mad they get to fund ACA/Obamacare after they lost their tax cut….that’s the real rub against those that make over $250K. These are the so-called Americans Boner is referring to, not the working people and the elderly.
I watched the interview, and PBO firmly told Harwood he’s not negotiating ANYTHING.
John Harward is an idiot…maybe HE needs to watch his own show before he talks about it. I am watch HGTV, no LO and that woman who’s substituting for him is just stupid too. Why can’t Joy Reid sub sometime?
Either Lawrence is on some kind of medical leave, or MSNBC put a muzzle on him for some reason. I notice he hasn’t tweeted from his @lawrence account since Sept 29.
Lawrence is probably in Africa. He raises funds to help provide school desks for African students through UNICEF, and he makes a trip to Africa at about this time of the year to help deliver the desks. This is a wonderful effort because the desks are constructed in the villages by parents. The effort has become a good business for the African countries that are involved. Lawrence is awesome on so many levels.
I do not think he would stand for MSNBC muzzling him. He makes it clear this is a side job for him. He loves writing and developing shows like “The West Wing!” He has said he won’t do this for a very long time.
You’re probably right Gwendolyn. He’s been back a couple days now, I believe. I saw him tweet on Friday nite in response to a popular “movie” hashtag that was going around :)

You know what, let them think it is caving. Eventually Boehner would have to pass clean CR. We are on the winning side, since all the dems are united. Fractured GOP will “cave” on this, then they will have a dejected electorate for 2014 (kinda like our emoprogs), which hopefully give us back the House. I am going to rub it in on any GOPer I encounter, when they finally pass the clean CR.
