It’s Time To Vote

****

If you are in Virginia, you have until October 15th to register or re-register here

New Jersey Information here

In my part of the nation, early voting has commenced-while this year in Ohio, it’s purely local. My city is electing a Mayor and Council. This year, I am going to vote early anyway. After all, even President Obama started off as a state legislator.

If there are no elections, this is the perfect time to register if you haven’t already, or re-register if you’ve moved or changed your name. Get ready for next year here

    JUST DO IT

    Schumer To Boehner: Prove That A Clean Spending Bill Won’t Pass

    ———————————————-

    “I think there’s a bit of posturing going on here,” Schumer said. “To have us default could, and there’s a pretty high chance, send us into a recession deeper than the one in 2008. … I believe Speaker Boehner will not do that when push comes to shove.”

    He accused Boehner of “playing with fire” and likened his stance to that of a hostage-taker.

    “Speaker Boehner comes in and he says, basically, it’s sort of like this,” Schumer said. “Someone goes into your house, takes your wife and children hostage and then, says, let’s negotiate over the price of your house.”

      Tweets from Harry Reid’s Comm Director.

      Probably didn’t get any MSM attention because the reporter was the vile Dana Bash.

        it wasn’t that Boehner couldn’t deliver, Boehner said in his interview with Snuffaluphagus that yes he made that deal with Reid but he changed his mind and also wanted Obamacare.

        That is worse. He has no honor.

          Oh, so MSM lets the frigging Speaker of the House change his mind after making a “gentleman’s agreement” to a budget that is LESS THAN the Paul Ryan rodent’s budget, but on a whim the Speaker of the House “decides” to include changes to an ENACTED LAW that has been upheld by all three bodies of the Federal Govt.

          And MSM whine that our President, the Executive of the people, should negotiate.

          Any MSM who believes this should be fired. They are in no way objective.

          FormerlyFred had some good links to Fournier’s history on the previous thread. Will tweet them out.

    On Boehner’s facebook page he is claiming the WH said “we are winning”. Meaning it wasn’t Rand and McConnell who got caught on video plotting how to lie to the American people so they could win, it was actually the WH who said it.

    This man disgusts me. The lies he tells.

    May the fleas of 100,000 camels infest Boehner’s nether regions and may his arms be too short to scratch.

    Hi GB great to see you here today. Hope things keep going wonderfully for you.

    Congratulations on the new granddaughter born 2 hrs ago, hope she grows up to be President.

    Watched the Stephanoupolus(?) Boehner interview and all who voted for this guy should be ashamed. I just get the sense that their whole attitude is he’s black lets just do him anything, say anything about him, he can’t respond, we’ll just up the hate till America can’t stand him and throws him out…its all delusion on their part unfortunately for the rest of us they believe it and they are in positions of power to do real harm. Lets hope this whole debacle comes to an end before real and lasting harm is done to the country

    When elections used to have consequences

    By Mark Murray, Senior Political Editor, NBC News

    ———————————————————————

    Two ways Washington creates change

    In the U.S. system of government — with its checks and balances — major legislative change comes in two forms. One, when one political party controls most, if not all, of the branches of government (see the New Deal, Great Society, Obama’s health-care law). Two, when divided government reaches good-faith compromise (Social Security changes in the 1980s, welfare reform in the 1990s).

    But in the 15-plus years this reporter has covered Washington politics, such legislative compromise has never been dictated by the terms of the side that had lost the previous election. The losing side has certainly blocked the majority creating new laws (like George W. Bush’s Social Security effort in 2005, Bill Clinton’s second-term agenda, Obama’s cap-and-trade legislation). However, it hasn’t rolled back major laws, especially without controlling all the branches of government.
    The reason: Elections have consequences. Or at least they used to.

    I’ve posted this before, but a reminder that the GOP plot against President Obama was not limited to DC GOP pols and “strategists.”

    It was made public at the GOP Governor’s get together in the week following President Obama’s Nov 2008 election victory.

      Irrespective of whatever harm it would do to America. And, they gave it their best shot and lost on 6 Nov 2012.

      Now, they are desperate. If their Coup d’Etat fails, plutocrats like the Kochs are unlikely to get another chance at establishing a fascist state for a very long time, if ever.

      LL, his intentions require no special divining, as you know. The attempted Coup d’Etat is underway. We either defeat it or America will just be another failed state for historians to ponder and students to slice and dice in their Ph.D. dissertations.

        Bobfr—If we are seeing this correctly that what’s going on now is a coup, that ACA, deficits, are just the pegs they are hanging their hats on, what happens when we prevail? When winning elections has failed for the Kochs, and subverting the economy is avoided, what happens next?

        What will they do next to try to take power back into their hands?

        • 62 Bobfr (@Our4thEstate)
          October 6, 2025 at 6:54 pm

          Vicki, as you know,

          They will continue to own the corporate media until we convince - by not viewing, and boycotting advertisers - that that’s a no win.

          The will continue until we successfully overturn the Citizens United SCOTUS ruling by passing strict regulations for funding elections (something that can be accomplished if we control the House and Senate in 2015).

          They will continue until President Obama has the opportunity to appoint two Justices to SCOTUS (and that we ensure we elect a Democratic President in 2016 to continue to overhaul of SCOTUS).

          In other words, they will never stop. But if citizens do their job and vote, don’t provide financial support to corporations - like the ‘news’ media that spread lies and enable sedition - we will continue to prevail.

          The core message of democracy is that citizens MUST PARTICIPATE - all the time, not just at elections and sure as hell better always vote.

    So I walked out of the library today after tutoring, and there was an AA woman, asking people to sign a petition to put some Republican on the ballot. You could only sign the petition if you were a registered R. I said “No”…and she said asked if I was a Democrat…I said yes and she was noticeably upset by that. Said, “Ohhhhhh” Really? WTH? Wonder if she realizes that they don’t give a damn about her? I almost said something to her, but you know what, I just didn’t feel like getting into it right outside the library today. Tutored for 2 hours….people are seriously deluded.

    I know PBO doesn’t govern by polls, but I can’t help but to recall what David Axelrod said during the ’12 elections. They had an internal poll that never showed PBO behind, ever, not once. The trajectory always showed him rising in the polls. The closest it came was when the trajectory went flat for awhile, after the first debate.

    I’m sure PBO has already knows how much the real American people have his back. I mean, no way his internal pollster just packed up and went home. Contrary to Paul saying that ‘I won’t negotiate’ couldn’t have been poll tested, PBO knew just when, where, and how to deliver his stance.

    PBO is a very patient man, whose strategy is about the big picture and end game. He doesn’t bluff, because he doesn’t have to.

    Since most beltway refers to the NY Times as the paper of record, I think any one who can needs to focus on the piece they had today.

    the stuff in there is chilling and looks criminal ( I have no legal background but I can smell stench).

    this article names the names of the participants who can be legally charged.

    I see that a number here are already demanding that legal charges be brought and I agree (thought so the very first time I read the contents of this NY article).

    we need to work on multiple fronts. so while some in the beltway can ignore the contents temporarily, there is nothing like a law suit to get their attention.

    someone needs to be charged for the damage they have done to so many through deliberate action;

    Please take the time and:

    - if you can, share this with as many people in your network and media as possible;

    - create attention-grabing tweets;

    - don’t know if States’ Attorneys General can be involved since the states can point to specific financial losses from the GOPshutdown

    - can send to citizens’ groups which understand which laws were broken;

    - see if a petition can be put out in which citizens demand an immediate investigations;

    - sent to elected representatives and political strategists;

    - other stuff …
