States & Plutocrats whose objective is INEQUALITY are the enemy of humanity - in the 21st Century and since our ancestors began migrating from the Serengeti Plain.
We, Americans, must lead the way in defeating, comprehensively, any adherent of INEQUALITY.
If we do so, we truly will be the beacon, the promise, the reality that America espouses in its words and in many of its actions and sacrifices.
@OFA Those whose objective is INEQUALITY are the enemy of humanity. In 2014, We the People must defeat ALL who espouse INEQUALITY. #YesWeCan

Yes We Can
…. time to prepare some dinner … rest well or welcome to a new day, dear TODers, depending on your time zone :)
I don’t know if someone pointed to this tribute to President Mandela written by the journalist Mr. Michael Cottman who is also writes regular columns for Black America Web and The Tom Joyner Morning Show.
It is a short and highly personal article.
Mr. Cottman has met both President Mandela and President Obama and he his words reinforce what many of us commented on already – the similarities between these two great men!
He puts down his thoughts succinctly (especially the paragraph that I quote at last ):
“ COMMENTARY: Nelson Mandela: A Humble Statesman With a Quiet Power “
“Í met Nelson Mandela in Johannesburg, South Africa on November 14, 1991.
We met one year after Mandela was released from serving 27 years in prison for attempting to overthrow a cruel government that practiced widespread apartheid, physical abuse and racial discrimination against South Africa’s black citizens.
……
………
As a journalist, I traveled to South Africa in 1991 with New York Mayor David Dinkins, who became friends with Mandela, and I wrote about their budding relationship and Mandela’s strong leadership of the African National Congress, the black activist organization that eventually stamped out apartheid in South Africa.
At an event for Dinkins, Mandela looked thin for his 6-foot frame, but he was healthy, gregarious, and stately – and his mind was sharp and focused as he spoke passionately about black children who are sick from hunger while also calling for racial reconciliation among South Africa’s black and white citizens. He was more like a king than politician, more regal than calculating.
With dignity and grace, Mandela always seemed to put the needs of his people above his own.
And what’s more, after covering many hard-nosed politicians over the years, Mandela offered a rare and refreshing quality: he was humble.
“I am one of the countless millions who drew inspiration from Nelson Mandela’s life,” President Barack Obama said Thursday at the White House.
“My very first political action, the first thing I ever did that involved an issue or a policy or politics, was a protest against apartheid,” Obama said. “I studied his words and his writings. The day that he was released from prison gave me a sense of what human beings can do when they’re guided by their hopes and not by their fears. And like so many around the globe, I cannot fully imagine my own life without the example that Nelson Mandela set, and so long as I live I will do what I can to learn from him.”
Today, I cover the White House. And after meeting Mandela and Obama, speaking with both men and shaking hands with both men, I can’t help reflecting on the uncanny similarities between the two world leaders: Both men were rooted in community activism and social justice; both are tall and lean; both men are soft-spoken and would prefer diplomacy as a means to resolve conflict; both men are well-read and students of history; both men have talked openly about their faith; and both men overcame improbable racial obstacles to become the first black presidents of their nations.
…………
Very cool! The headgear is different, but the face is the same. I have high hopes for a new peace being forged in the Middle East thanks to President Obama, SOS Kerry, and a few open-minded citizens of those countries sick of strife.
Couldn’t reply below to your question….I bought some as a joke/bet in Vegas 2 years ago…… and what do you know they were worth 1000 bucks a piece, until they plunged 20+% today ( http://techcrunch.com/2013/12/06/bitcoin-value-loses-its-mind-as-trading-lags-on-the-mt-gox-exchange/ ). But I got 10 Bitcoins for like a dollar!!! There are actually Bitcoin ATM’s now… many retailers (Somebody bought a Telsa in California today with Bitcoins http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-12-06/bitcoin-meets-tesla-in-california-dealership-model-s-transaction.html ) who want younger demographic customers accept them, and you buy/cash/sell them on exchanges. http://bitcoin.org/en/
1. I should “get a life” - since, the longer I stare at the image, all four in that cluster of gentlemen, including famous guy, are starting to look like long-lost brothers o’mine
2. Quit thinking you’re going to say it’s Baghdad Bob or something as a cruelty, while lulling me into a grasshopper meditation pit
LOL……..Baghdad Bob!!!! The person has been very relevant in the past 2 months…. i.e. is alive, and of course at this point in the evening we should all “get a life” :)
Actually, “get a life” reminds me of one of my fondest takedowns of a RWNJ on twitter (here, I proceed to pat myself on the back) … he or she told me to “get a life” and I wrote back something like “you’re arguing back and forth with a great grandmother on twitter on a Friday night and I should get a life?”
Hee hee hee - I only “pull out” that great grandmother stuff, when it’s absolutely required!
Dudette gave me a clue (meaning she wins the trivia contest) and I guessed a name … we’ll have to see if LP confirms before we’re both “out like a light” !!
I wish there is a way the Ukraine (euromaidan) protestors could organize with the opposition in Russia so that they hold simultaneous massive street rallies in both countries;
may be then putin could pay more attention to dealing with the Russian citizens instead of the people of Ukraine
I wouldn’t recommend going there, but somebody R/Td this guy in my timeline … haters everywhere! Once in a while, it’s worth it to see the bile that’s out there, just to keep up, but I’m off to block this animal and the R/Ter.
Poor Trolls, they got a bad rap when the blogosphere took off. I have one that said “I love you this much” with outstretched arms. My fiancé gave it too. We exchange top dollar gifts. ;) He got one too.
How did you find that? I think I spent an hour looking for it. It’s probably the one that won’t play on my iPad. There are Hawaiian dance instructions for everyone that has needed a naughty mat. We could learn it by Christmas while the First Family is in Hawaii. ;)

Orale vatos y vatas!
And to all a goodnight! God Bless us, Everyone!
:-)
Catching up!
All right, gentle souls, I’m off for the evening. Missus and I both have early mornings tomorrow. Chin chin!
Night LL, and thank you again for your beautiful post today.
Oh my ….
Oh yes ….
This will not end well for either Yanukovych or Putin …
On President Mandela – more learn to learn
Thanks for that link, Linda.

Actually, Dudette gave me the big clue aka answer, so my personal congrats to her and Judith!
LP, do you actually have access to a bitcoin, and what would one do with it? Maybe Danny needs a girlfriend!
2 syllables:
1. Oneself
2. The past tense of run
:-)
Oh, okay. I see what you did there, but I’m too tired to go look at photos to come up with the famous person’s name.
Me too. I’ll be sleep before the name is revealed.
LP, who is he!
Dudette gave me a clue (meaning she wins the trivia contest) and I guessed a name … we’ll have to see if LP confirms before we’re both “out like a light” !!
OMG! Just say it’s their President.
Rouhani is his name, by the way. [Yes, I’m that annoying kid from class!] :-)
Annoying u say?
Okay, I peeked, maybe Hassan Rouhani in a ball cap?
Naw
Sheesh! Finally! :-D
Put your hand down and quit holding your elbow up with your other hand. You’re disturbing the other “students.” Ha!
LOL!
Really??
Good thing I didn’t want no bitcoin or a toy for Danny :-)
Actually, LP mentioned a “to” for Danny, but, as always, you are kinder than I. :)
J, you crack me up!
I wish there is a way the Ukraine (euromaidan) protestors could organize with the opposition in Russia so that they hold simultaneous massive street rallies in both countries;
may be then putin could pay more attention to dealing with the Russian citizens instead of the people of Ukraine
Just like AMK, always comes in sloppy seconds on new threads……… he should expect the same result here:

Today’s Tech Tip.
Have you ever accidently closed out of a tab in your Internet browser that you were getting ready to read?
Simply press Ctrl+Shift+T to re-open it.
Yeah. That doesn’t work.
Since the National Christmas Tree was lit tonight, MST, by our Pres. Obama, Mele Kalikimaka !
How did you find that? I think I spent an hour looking for it. It’s probably the one that won’t play on my iPad. There are Hawaiian dance instructions for everyone that has needed a naughty mat. We could learn it by Christmas while the First Family is in Hawaii. ;)
Aww, you can’t see it. Sorry. I’ll go find another one.
I can see it on TOD. I found other versions. Thought Bette Middlers was funny and tweeted it. She is from Hawaii I think. ;)
Oh, I didn’t realize you could see it here! Okay! :-D
Just not on you tube were I was looking or on iTunes. Maybe a Amazon.
Okay here’s another one with even more shimmy-shakin’ :-D
You’re so sweet. Thank you.
Oh good. If I had to bring in another one, it was gonna feel like the movie Groundhog Day around here! :-D
Love that movie, “You don’t know me” by Ray Charles if I remember right while they were dancing on the gazebo one night.
Bing Crosby with the Andrew Sisters. ;)
Goodnight, TODland! Sweet dreams.
