yessss….
:) hey Mr. Number One: I had a question for you, but can’t remember what it is just now!
If it is one about chips’ baking art, I don’t know either.
Hush!
HaHa! I just remembered: earlier today you were swooning over a pic of FLOTUS, and it occurred to me to ask if you are Aware the Naughty Mats are Gender Neutral? Right, Mr. Yardarm, sir? ;)
Well done, amk :)
Great selection, as always, NW.
I’m particularly smiling about this one ….
Our President Obama has, without doubt, inspired other world leaders to grasp the importance of diversification of sources of energy and Tzar Vlad has only accelerated that process for many of the EU clients of his petro-oligarchs - delicious irony.

Shhhhh.
I was vacuuming the other day and spent, oh, 25 minutes trying to retrieve my 97 gazillion MB memory stick, which contains my life, from the inner working of the machine after it was sucked up. Hate that.
“from the inner working of the machine after it was sucked up ”
are we talking about danny boy here?
:-) This is actually one thing I cannot blame him for, because I have to lock him outside when I’m vacuuming (once every 36 years) because - how do I put this? - he attempts to make love to the machine. Truly. One of these days …. no, no, I’ll behave.
Well, I would give ANYTHING for Danny to regard my machine as evil, instead of being sexually attracted to it!
You should let them mate. The progeny would be an active vacuum cleaner that doesn’t need you to steer it.
Dyyyyyyyyyying. The progeny would, more likely, be a machine that spewed chewed up socks all over the flippin’ carpet.
*which contains my life*
Tell me about it!
This is a couple of weeks old, but wanted TODville to know that when CNN actually switched from the missing plane to the Chile earthquake, they literally played a user’s video of a CNN report.
Who are these people who call themselves producers at CNN?
It’s like some of us are living in a parallel universe, isn’t it? CNN has gone down to such depths, it’s just about unbelievable at this point.
So either they fired all the moderately competent producers or aliens have taken over the network.
Every single one a gem, thank you Nerdy!
Thanks, Chips.
Pete’s probably still laughing to himself at that one. Precious!
What a lot of people who may not track small packages don’t get is that both UPS and FEDEX often charge their fees for shipping - and do some of the shipping in all kinds of circuitous ways - and then present the packages to the USPS carrier, which delivers them via the mail handler to your front door. That’s one of my biggest pet peeves about the mandate and the brouhaha kicked up by the dastardly Republicans.
Jeepers…I was over there TALKING TO MYSELF AGAIN! It’s embarrassing. Dannysticks is AWESOME:) Look at him take to water like the Lab he is! It would be news if he DIDN’T like the water, Chips…this is normal:) Well, he does write on a blog, so he IS quite exceptional! Oh my…we’re pushing close to 25 million…..Danny’s never partied with us….could get messy.

Look at you!! You ARE a little salmon:) Just keep swimming….. :) You’re getting so big! Mama Chips must feed you good stuff:)
Is this Danny’s version of a “cold shower?”
He is a natural seal.
tnx akm i no
Amazing; Chips, you realize you will have to move, live in a tent close to wifi, near the water! Be prepared for his constant demands of you to take him to the local pond, lake, or swimming pool! He is a true blue Lab!

KIEV, Ukraine (AP) - Russia has “days, not weeks” to abide by an international accord aimed at stemming the crisis in Ukraine, the top U.S. diplomat in Kiev warned Monday as Vice President Joe Biden launched a high-profile show of support for the pro-Western Ukrainian government. Russia in turn accused authorities in Kiev of flagrantly violating the pact and declared their actions would not stand.
Biden, the highest-ranking American official to visit Ukraine during its conflict with Russia, planned to meet with government officials in the capital of Kiev on Tuesday. The vice president also planned to announce new technical support to help the fledgling government with energy and economic reforms.
I hope we tighten the screws like a vice grip. I feel badly for the ordinary people, but this needs to stop. Putin needs a reality check.
CarolMaeWY responded to me on the previous thread, wondering if the reason South Korea isn’t hosting a State Dinner had anything to do with the ferry tragedy, and Carolyn mentioned that whichever countries aren’t hosting a State Dinner might be because PBO’s visit is not an official state visit.
On a previous thread, someone mentioned that Cillizza called PBO “mourner-in-chief.”
But consider PBO’s itinerary:
1) Oso Washington (devastating mudslide)
2) Japan (Mar 2011 catastrophic earthquake/tsunami)
3) South Korea (last week — shocking ferry accident)
4) Malaysia (last month — mysterious missing plane)
5) Philippines (Nov 2013 devastating cyclone Haiyan)
So all five places PBO will visit have been touched with stunning events and loss of life. Who would have predicted this to be so, when this visit was being planned 6 months ago (only the Japanese event had occurred)?
The South Korea ferry sinking is very troubling.
The initial reports from South Korea were very wrong (cover up?) and why would a young (I think the same age as the Malaysian Airline co-pilot) be alone at the helm of the ferry when weather conditions were poor?
So sad that these events have preceded our President’s visit.
Wow! That put’s it all in perspective Arapaho. This is going to be one tough week for the President.
Night all. It’s early, but I didn’t sleep very well last night. don’t know why because I worked in the yard all day and was exhausted, but such is life. Seems that I am suffering from post nasal drip from allergies…everything is blooming here and all the pollen has spines. Everything here has prickers…the pollen is no exception. It’s miserable making. Have a good night everyone.
Hope you sleep well DF, that pollen business is a NIGHTMARE. See ya tomorrow.

Rachel had an article about Oklahoma being off the charts Red. The clean energy segment showed the Koch Bros funding anti solar legislations and fines. Oklahomans supporting many unfair bans and legislation helps me understand two of my art guild members severe conservative actions and antiObama rhetoric as they are both from Oklahoma. They drive me crazy, and are impossible to reason with.
Let them rot in their pool of hatred.
I didn’t hear Rachel, but we are not all haters. On the previous post I wrote a short post about the church I attend in Oklahoma City. It is a Congregational church, and the most loving place I’ve ever attended. It is a liberal oasis in the state, and is growing. The people I associate with are not haters at all. I know our legislature right now is horribly right wing and punitive, but as with every place, all people are not like that.
In fact, where I teach, a small church-related college, the majority of the faculty are very liberal and open, and our students are like the young people their age across the country…..liberal-minded and open. It will take time for change to come to this state, but it will, which is why those of us who are the different ones now, must stay and be agents of change.
If you read my entry on the previous post, you will read what our minister said, and the reaction it got from the congregation.
Rachel needs to visit us.
Carolyn, I am proud of all of you that are fighting this craziness in Oklahoma. You deserve kudos. I know it is not the entire state, but according to the election results the state is getting redder. That atmosphere can affect those in the state to want to conform to the norms of the state.
May your oasis become oases. Even if it takes years.
It will probably take years, but it will happen. I’ve said jokingly, but there is a lot of truth in it, that Texas will go purple/blue before Oklahoma does, but then Oklahoma will decide to change too, because if there’s one thing Oklahoma wants to do, it’s be like Texas.
We are always about thirty years behind the curve. We moved here from California because my husband got an excellent position at a university, and for the first years, it was not this bad at all. We had good governors like Bellmon, Boren and Walters, and sensible legislatures. I don’t know what happened, I do blame a lot of it on ORU and TV evangelists who have an awful lot of influence in this state.
I think some of it started during the oil bust in the 80s, when people lost everything. This was different than the depression because Reagan was president with his don’t trust the government harangues, and people bit on that, and also on the Left Behind book series that came out at that time. It is a strange amalgam of religion and ignorance and political fervor.
There is a storefront church on every other corner, as if there are not enough already established churches. It is crazy religious and has gotten worse in the last twenty years. The reaction of huge numbers of young people, like mine, has been to leave any church whatsoever. What they have seen has been so disgusting, they have no trust or faith in anything religious. So, you have pretty much two extremes.
The two people I have spoken about in my Oregon Art Guild having lived most of their lives in Oklahoma are both hard core religious. I have a hard time calling what they espouse as religious. They also listen to Limbaugh, and watch Fox. These two people are not married or related nor knew one another before joining our guild.
You must be very happy to have found your church community haven.
I’m in the same boat, living in blue oasis in a vast wasteland of red. Hoping we turn at least purple in my lifetime. Right now the best we can hope for is a good showing but yellow dog Dems. I try to avoid becoming depressed.
Okay then. All the details are worked out, tea things are in order, everything shipshape, ready for PBO visit tomorrow. And for Earth Day in the PeaPatch. Though it might be raining, so Pete Souza may just have to produce a few new wet POTUS shots for the TOD ladies! (and gents)! Now, that’s a lovely thought to close this day….. ;)
Earth Day’s comin’ up. My “plans” are to celebrate managing to survive on our planet, as long as “I” have! And be glad the rest of “you” have, too. How’s that?
