If I’m not mistaken, Sterling has given to Democrats. The Right could easily turn around and say “See, a Dem racist!!11!11!!” But, no. The need to dismiss blatant racism is so ingrained in the Right that it’s fallen into line behind Sterling. And that’s why it will lose.
Now, off to sit on the porch and sip a Manhattan. BBL.
Actually, they’ve been using that logic and also pointing out that Robert Byrd was previously part of the KKK and was a Democrat. I just roll my eyes or block them on Twitter because that level of stupidity is so ingrained, nothing can help said stupid person.
The idea that a racist can’t be a Democrat or Republican is so blinkered. The bigger picture is that Democrats in 2014 are not lining up behind, propping up, and cheering racists every day of the week. The Republican party is. Exhibit A: Cliven Bundy. Exhibit B: The Lieutenant Governor of South Carolina. The Democratic party isn’t putting forward policies that disadvantage minorities. The Republican party is.
These days, whenever a racist persona pops up, no one has to ask is he/she a Democrat? Nope. And that’s what’s wrong with the GOP and why they will continue to lose minorities.
Josh at TPM had a great post about the GOP’s race problem yesterday. Well worth a read. (And he uses a naught analogy, which was amusing.)

Again, this is the thing. We in L.A. have known what a scumbag Sterling is for decades. This is not news to us. And the NBA knew. However, if a *thug* player wears the wrong thing, he gets suspended. Mark Cuban calling out bad officiating gets fined. (Despise Cuban, but using him as an example.) But the worst owner in US professional sports again and again evinces racism, and crickets. I’m with Mayor Johnson: the NBA has much explaining to do. If the fanbase of the NBA was mostly white, shenanigans like this wouldn’t have been tolerated. But a sport perceived to be “black”, and nothing is done.

Must have been something good that got my attention, since I dropped them a long time ago. Whoever writes their copy for these emails needs a little public relations training. If you receive them, you may have noticed their recent subject lines (I never get past those). Samples: all hope is lost, just since 10am, MAJOR EMBARRASSMENT, WHOA, FUMING, JAW-DROPPING, painful loss. Holding on to ‘em, so I can write and tell them why I’m cancelling. This is NOT how a party of strength ought to be soliciting ideas or donations. Maybe the content of their messages is better, but I’m too depressed after seeing the entrée that I won’t go there.
Jacqueline, I am getting those same desperate emails. I don’t even open and read anymore. They should know that those type of emails become crying wolf emails after we receive so many.
