President Barack Obama lays a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va. President Obama is leading the nation in remembering its war heroes, the fallen and those still defending the flag, in a Memorial Day tribute
Too early to decide about today - although the weather is almost perfect at the minute. Chilly mornings and beautiful days - and itâs 4 days until the start of winter!!
I was just reading Ms Chippâs advice - everyone has to live in her time zone, you can follow that idea :) - Itâs easy for me cause all the posts show the time in Eastern USA :)
Itâs hard for me. Iâm two hours behind. Iâm slow as it is. Seems like I heard news about something in Australia but I canât remember it. That so bothers me.
Just another non-contribution to this country made by THOSE people………Hereâs a thought. Let”s start reparations in Amerikkka by printing the TRUTH in ALL history books for starters.
Brilliant Yardarm sir {salute}! YES, YES and THIS!
And thank you Nerdy for this tweet! I knew about Decoration Day from a blog post I had written couple of years ago; thanks for the reminder so that I can pass on this link to others.
Born and raised in Cali :-) but part of my ancestry is Italian, so I obtained my Italian citizenship a couple of years ago through jure sanguinis or “blood law”, which enables descendents of Italian immigrants to prove this ancestry and obtain citizenship and also the right to vote in certain elections (now I get to stress about two countryâs politics :-) ) I travel to Rome when I can and plan to move their as of January 2017 :-)
Ah Rome. A beautiful place. I was there for the â60 Olympics and, of course saw Naples. I even got to visit Bari on the East coast……I love the wine :).
:-) Canât remember the exact countries, but a work colleague of mine traveled once to Fiji/Tonga and somewhere else - left one of the places and arrived in the other the day before. Iâm still getting my time-zone head around that one.
Just 1 question; where do you and Chipsticks get these pictures from? You guys post the most AMAZING animal characters, always make me laugh and or smile. : )
Well, first of all, I wouldnât put it past anyone at CNN to spread rumours on behalf of their puppet-masters, in order to sour voters for 2014 elections. Secondly, unless I hear it from a Democrats own mouth, I wonât trust anything John King or anyone from CNN will have to say about anything. And third, Democrats (voters and elected officials) are going to have to work very hard in this election, because clearly, Republicans and their media puppets are working overtime to distort the truth.
Donât let yourself get distracted by these people. They are up to no good.
Thank you to all of my TOD family members who have given so much to all of us. Thanks to Yardarm and also Jovie and so many more here. Jovie, it is so wonderful to see you with us again. I hope only goodness comes into your space. Be well dear friend.
Thanks so much Nerdy W., for all that you give to us here on TOD. You are a beautiful gem to all of us. Chips has such a beautiful and brilliant group of thinkers here in this beautiful space. Thank you, Chips.
May our president be granted wisdom, love, compassion, physical strength, and a grace that will keep him strong as he visit with the many families and their loved ones who have given so much. We are so blessed to have President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden in the WH. So grateful that the traveling angels were right there with POB and his team, and the wonderful staff and team who serve our president so faithfully and so beautifully. Grateful to have them back home with us; and may Godâs grace rest upon the men and women at Bagram and all those around the world. Lord, may the mercies go wide and strong for all of them.
May God give a beautiful measure of sweetness of grace to our service men and women who have given us their last breath; but may we stop for moments to give a grateful word of loving thankfulness for their lives and service. HZ
{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{ You are so wonderfully kind Nerdy, and I just love you for being here for Chips and giving so much love in all that you do with a brilliant and respectfulness to our president.}}}}}}}}}}}}}} You lift my spirit daily and give me so much encouragement. TY.HZ
Former US secretary of state Albright: Putin lies to Russian people ‘on an hourly basisâ
“Madeleine Albright, the first woman to serve as U.S. secretary of state, on May 26 castigated Russian President Vladimir Putinâs dishonesty about events in Ukraine and the United Statesâ role in supporting Ukraineâs fledgling democracy.
âThe people of Russia need to know they are being lied to on an hourly basis by their president,â Albright told journalists in Kyiv on May 26. âI find it very hard to understand much of anything of what Vladimir Putin is saying. Anybody that can say the dissolution of the Soviet Union is the greatest tragedy of the 20th century is not operating with facts. There were two world wars in which millions of people were killed, among them Russians. So it I think it is insulting what he has said to all of our historical knowledge.â
Albright has been in Kyiv for several days in her role as chairman of the National Democratic Institute, a U.S.-based international nongovernmental organization that promotes democracy, human rights and fair elections in many nations of the world. She was in Kyiv leading an NDI election observation mission, which gave high marks to the May 25 vote. “By conducting a generally well-run presidential election in the face of significant challenges, Ukrainians achieved a democratic milestone,” NDI concluded.”

Bobfr, thank you for all of great information that you bring to TOD. Your knowledge of the current events all over the world is a tremendous enjoy to partake of during these historical times.
I come away knowing a little more each and everyday that I have the honor to be a part of this beautiful family of well-read and brilliant minds. I do not use that word lightly, since I use it often; but I do sincerely mean every appreciation when I attach it to the likes of you and all of the great minds here within our TOD family. So blessed to be here with all of you and see history unfold in our blessed lives. TY, Bobfr.
Have a wonderful Memorial Day in your remembrance. HZ
My father died ten years ago at the age of 79. He entered the marine corps by lying about his age at 16 (his parents lied too). By the time he was 19 he was in the worst fighting in the Pacific during WWII. He fought in the battle of Bloody Nose Ridge on the island of Pelilu where most of his company was killed and wounded. He was one of five to walk away when they were relieved after holding out for days against waves of the enemy counter-attacking and getting cut off from supplies. Hand to hand combat. He received the Silver Star for bravery. And was wounded on Okinawa. He suffered terribly from PTSD and alcoholism. But in his 40s he got sober and eventually become an alcohol counselor. He started a detox and counseling program for the county where he lived and was recruited by the VA to start an alcohol treatment program in the VA facility near where he lived. The things that had hurt him so badly, alcohol and violence, became in a way his means of transformation and helping other vets like himself who were damaged by war violence, PTSD, and alcoholism. My parents divorced when I was a child and we were estranged in my earlier years. But the last twenty years of his life we began going on an annual spiritual retreat together at a monastery and began just talking and listening to each other, and meditating together in silence. In the end we had become best friends and I held him in my arms at the moment of his death. Love and healing is stronger than violence and death.
” Love and healing is stronger than violence and death.” Powerful conclusion, Bill R. Tears are flowing as I read this. Thank you for sharing it, Bill R. Your spirit is one that is so compassionately deep and pure. I appreciate your beautiful spirit, my dear TOD family member.
Enjoy your day with all of these powerful memories. May a gentle and peacefulness rest in your space today and always. HZ

Hello 99ts! How are things down under? ;)
Too early to decide about today - although the weather is almost perfect at the minute. Chilly mornings and beautiful days - and itâs 4 days until the start of winter!!
Oh thatâs right. I needed reminding.
Finally I have flowers and my crabapple trees smelled so good until the wind blew off the blossoms. My tulips have only been blooming for a week. ;)
I love tulips - and daffodils - rarely see either where I live
Is it too warm? They need six weeks of frozen temperatures to bloom. So do peonies and I think lilacs. You force them. But Iâve never done that.
Way too warm - we donât do freezing where I live. I donât know I loved the daffodils when I spent a year in London.
DMâed you Carol!
Okay. đ
Itâs retweeted.
Excellent, thank you Carol!!
Glad I could help.
Just another non-contribution to this country made by THOSE people………Hereâs a thought. Let”s start reparations in Amerikkka by printing the TRUTH in ALL history books for starters.
Thank you - that would be a great place to start.
Hear, Hear, Sir!
AMEN!!

And thank you Nerdy for this tweet! I knew about Decoration Day from a blog post I had written couple of years ago; thanks for the reminder so that I can pass on this link to others.
Thanks MadameSoph. Whereâs your home port? Your comments lead me to believe itâs not the US.

Ah Rome. A beautiful place. I was there for the â60 Olympics and, of course saw Naples. I even got to visit Bari on the East coast……I love the wine :).
I just realized there is a Cali, Colombia! I was born and raised in California; sorry for the slang… I feel like everyone at TOD is family :-)
No apologies needed. I knew what you meant.
Our troops love their Commander-In-Chief. Jefferson Obama is not the only one who gets super excited to see our President interact with his troops.
He is back in US already?
Iâm beginning to think he has a time machine - Afghanistan yesterday, Arlington today.
Poor you. Must have increased your time zones phobia by 1000 x.
:-) Canât remember the exact countries, but a work colleague of mine traveled once to Fiji/Tonga and somewhere else - left one of the places and arrived in the other the day before. Iâm still getting my time-zone head around that one.
:)
When I rule the world, there will be one time-zone (mine), even if that means you have to work in the middle of your night. Be warned.
me? work?
an oxymoron, if one.
If you become the world bt, this must be your af1.
 That is revolting!!!!
WOW….GOTTA LOVE THAT…AND IN MY COLOR!
My 6th birthday lasted two days. Started in Okinawa. Flew back to the States overnight. Still my b-day when we arrived. Woohoo! :-D
Oh yes:)
Congrats on 1st vetivera!!
Belated thank you to NW for the excellent R&S.

How precious is that picture? These men and women are true patriots, not those tea party haters or the ones hanging around that Bundy rancher.
Not good ….
