Say it
Hey japa. Just noticed you didn’t get much love for your first, dear. I’m here for you. Congrats! :-)
Late to the party - congrats on first place, Japa!
A brilliant collection of tweets Nerdy, thank you for doing this, you’re the best.
Thanks, Chips.
You’ve got me all choked up with this picture you selected. Sec. Shinseki is a good and courageous man. He has sacrificed so much in defense and love for his country and it is a shame that the media played a heavy role in backing the GOP and railroading him out. He and President Obama fought the good fight and made so many improvements to the VA.
I wish him the best and I thank him so much for everything he has done for veterans and the country.
I want the truth to be Told………from True by Spandau Ballet.
Great Tweets.
Thanks NW.
Wow, Alison Grimes has absolutely no class. I mean, NONE.
she is a cowardly piece of shit is what she is.
Wonderful collection. I sometimes complain that 140 characters is not enough for nuance, and it isn’t. But sometimes the truth doesn’t need the nuance. Sometimes it is pretty balck and white.
I am seeing three kinds of people today. Those that, like the vast majority of us, view this as a sad day. Then there are those celebrating the resignation. And then there are those, like pmcarpenter, who I generally like, who say this wasn’t a resignation, but a firing.
There are two issues I have with the last group. Number 1 is that they assume that President Obama did the firing despite all evidence to the contrary. But even more important, they are saying that Shinseki isn’t honorable enough to resign and let others tackle the problem, knowing he is just a distraction and that as long as he is there, solutions won’t be looked at.
Awsomeeeeeee Awesome collection of Tweets….KaBoooooooooom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WTH??
It’s true, isn’t it? If she wants to run as mini-mitch, she is gonna lose and lose heavily.
Sorry, I meant to respond to meta’s comment about Grimes.
To be the first to run to the microphone to claim to be the first to call for Sec. Shinseki’s resignation is absolutely deplorable. I don’t care how red your state is, this is a man of valor.
Pretty damn tacky
you are right about that. Better the snake you know than the one you don’t.
She sucks.
WTH does that mean? I’m losing confidence in her ability to run a take-no-prisoner campaign against on of the most sleaziest, disgusting humans like Mitch.
she ain’t up to it.
Took her a week to get her shit together on McConnell’s latest ACA blunder. She got off a few good lines to her credit. But she has been disgraceful on the VA (of which she knows nothing) and on Shinseki. Running to the mic, doing her damnedest to be a good RWNJ.
And she’s slow to figure out what she should say, and half the time she says the wrong thing.
Gee, here’s an idea: how about informing your constituents about how Democratic policies and this administration will improve your life and protect you and your interests?
As you said, who needs a tepid RWNJ when they have the real thing.
I’ve been tweeting her like crazy, I’m so pissed. I’ll see if I can corral the tweets.
Boom. Dis here.
she is a piece of crap
And not even that because even Mitch didn’t call for Shinseki to resign.
Great collection. I liked the thankless job one. So true.
Alison Grimes - last name fits her today.
The more I hear about Grimes, the less I like her. If she wins, she will be another DINO. I guess she would be a cut above a Republican, although I can see her voting often with Republicans.
I wouldn’t be surprised COS but I do question if she would be a cut above Repug. Afterall, Repubs stand up for each other and never gloat about being the fist person to eat their own.
She most certainly would. She’s clearly the type to go against Dems when it makes the least sense. How many votes did her comment about Shineski get her?
She will make noise but imo will vote with Dems at least 70% of the time. I’d like it to be higher but if McConnell gets reelected it stays at zero.
Yes, as grimy as a piece of slime.
Jay’s is going……Leaving the WH
Nena,
I can’t believe it! Oh, I am going to miss him so much. Such a nice guy, so professional and with much integrity!
Josh Ernest Takes over from Jay.
Just called A.Grimes campaign and told them no more contributions from me even tho don’t like Mitch, the man on the other end of phone acted surprised, said he did not know she called for Sec. Shinseki to resign now to find all those other turn coat Dems and do the same.
I tweeted the same thing. If she can’t act like a Dem and support Dems, Democratic administrations and Democratic policies, she can go join the GOP. No $$ from me.
good for you.
I called as well. Told them that it is a terrible day for Democrats and that I was truly disgusted. Would never give her another dime. I called Phone: 502-352-2390

President Obama just walked into the briefing room.
There is a personnel announcement about Jay ‘Clark Kent’ Carney. No, no, no, no. Not Jay. Don’t go Jay. We love you. We will miss you terribly. Replacing Jay Carney is Josh ‘THE VOICE’ Earnest.
This day sucks! Jay Carney resigned? I knew it was coming. He was - hands down - the best WH Press Secy in history. Only C. J. Craig was as good, and she was fiction.
I agree 57. I just love Jay. He is the best press secretary ever. And his relationship, love and respect for President Obama warms my heart. He is a sweetheart.
I’m really bummed. He was effing brilliant.
President Obama is announcing Jay Carney’s resignation as Press Secretary. Sad to see Jay go.
Wow, today is a double whammy of sadness.
Awww damn!
OMG, JAY IS RESIGNING.

OH NO!!!
I loved Jay. He really did handle the Republican press quite well but a person can only deal with the likes of these jackals for so long.
This is turning out to be a not so good Friday!!!!!!!!!
Donna, I’m just beside myself.
I have to say I had this premonition a couple of news ago that he might want to leave. I have absolutely no idea where it came from. Weird.
Josh Earnest will fill in until there is a replacement. Which I hope will be Josh Earnest.
I’m going for a long walk. It’s been a rough week!
Good idea donna. This is just too much today.
I read columns of conversations on TOD about a month or so ago about Jay planning to leave. When I heard reporters surprised about it I thought, “Wait a minute! I read about it over a month ago on TOD.”
Now everyone here is surprised. Wait a minute you guys were here when the topic came up before and participated in the conversation.
Jay:
http://www.whitehouse.gov/live
This!!!
Yes, we have Al Franken and Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren and all the other supposedly great Democratic sentinels that stand guard over this great democracy. But I haven’t heard one single word from those motherfuckers backing General Shinseki or President Obama for that matter. When it comes to President Obama these sentinels go into hiding waiting for the storm to subside. The Democrats love talking pretty and witty, as if appealing to someone’s intellect will somehow cure their ills. I am not surprised General Shinseki is gone, I’m not even less surprised that I haven’t heard a voice other that the Whitehouse standing up for General Shinseki. President Obama has tried for the last five plus years to give the Democratic Party their manhood, but at every opportunity the Democrats have come up short.
“tried for the last five plus years to give the Democratic Party their manhood, but at every opportunity the Democrats have come up short.” Well said, the only, ONLY, man in government is our President.
You’re wrong about Sanders: Sanders has been phenomenal on the VA issue and on Shinseki. He kept pointing the finger at the past administration & at the GOP. Shinseki had his support. For once, Bernie did the job that Democrats should do. People like Franken should know better. I’m sickened by it.
But this time - Sanders was in our court, big time.
Sanders voted against closing Gitmo!
“A number of important questions remain unanswered regarding the rather complicated issue of not just how you close down the facility, but what you do with the prisoners,” he added. “Are there some who should be released, are there others who should be returned to their home countries, are we confident that under Bush the correct determinations were made with respect to these prisoners’ status as ‘enemy combatants’? In order to answer these questions, President Obama has appointed a high-level committee of top administration officials who will be issuing a report in the coming months. I think that it is prudent to review that plan they develop before we spend $80 million in taxpayer money.”
I repeat, Bernie Sanders voted against closing gitmo. It is safe to assume that if President Obama wanted to close gitmo then he had a plan in place to do just that.
I thought we were talking about the VA ‘scandal’. Sanders has been very supportive and sensible on that.
Bernie loves to bash PBO. I know that. It was on the VA that he’s been good.
Sanders is on the VA Committee.
Don, I agree with your overall comments, but Bernie Sanders was on Chris Jansing show this morning and defended General Shinseki, even went so far as to say, he hopes President Obama would not asking him to resign.
Al Franken was calling for Shinseki’s resignation this week. The loud-mouths don’t seem to actually do any actual good.
jackal April Ryan wants to know what Jay has learned working as press secretary. Deep, really deep question.
And why does Jim Acosta always want someone to be fired???
He is the worst. Now he wants to know exactly who was in the meeting with President Obama and Secretary Shinseki this morning. It’s nothing but tabloid reporting. Disgusting.
Only when there’s a black President do fucker like this are all concerned about the brothers and sisters out in the field. I goddamn didn’t hear a word from these folks when Clinton and Bush were President!
…….And Jay is leaving the Whitehouse, oh well, hope the Heat win tonight. Goodnight everybody!
Thank you Press Sec. Jay Carney for your service.
Welcome aboard Josh Earnest. He has been with President Obama since the early days of Iowa 2008 and he’s the West Wing Week voice.
Wishing them both the best.
You know there is usually some buzz around a Presidential appointee leaving. This has to have been the best kept secret ever. I wish Jay all the best.
I already see signs of mass hysteria on Twitter, so let me just say that Jay Carney is already one of the longest serving Press Secretaries ever. This is a tough job and most press secs serve 2 years and move on. Meanwhile, it’s par for the course that people come and go in WH administrations. It doesn’t mean anything is “wrong,” it’s just that people are ready to move on - and that they are perfectly entitled to do. Just some perspective.
Why is Jat leaving!? This is a terrible day. Today, I hate WASHINGTON and all the dumb, weak, cowardly Dems.
Eve, please be calm. Obviously Jay Carney’s leaving has been in the works for some time, and Press Secretaries rarely stay for more than 2 years so Carney is already one of the longest serving press secretaries in US country. Today is not a “terrible” day by any means.
Thanks, Hopefruit. I have stopped watching MSNBC. The toxic waste is too much. TOD is where I get most of my news. For us to have to be discussing and reacting to all this really rattles my nerves. Shinsecki and Carney in one day has been a little too much.
Thanks for the order to be calm. I will.
:) :) Cheers - I know it can be difficult and the media goes overboard trying to stir up hysteria.
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/05/16/1091597/-GOP-Voted-Against-7-Bills-to-Help-Veterans
Here’s the Bills in numerical order. In short, the GOP has voted TO NOT SUPPORT THE TROOPS at least 7 times. I think that is sufficient to call the GOP House Hypocrites and Phonies.
Bill’s Blocked By Republican’s Since President Obama Took Office.
David Gregory, John McCain, and the media aren’t covering this story so we have to.
Here’s a concise extraction for easy viewing for those who are INTERESTED IN VETERANS ISSUES and need to know which party supports veterans and which party does not.
The rejected Bills are named:
H.R. 466 – Wounded Veteran Job Security Act became H. R. 2875.
H.R. 1168 — Veterans Retraining Act
H.R. 1171 – Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program Reauthorization
H.R. 1172 — Requiring List on VA Website of Organizations Providing Scholarships for Veterans
H.R. 1293 — Disabled Veterans Home Improvement and Structural Alteration Grant Increase Act of 2009
H.R. 1803 — Veterans Business Center Act
H.R. 2352 – Job Creation Through Entrepreneurship Act
DETAILS OF BILLS REJECTED BY REPUBLICANS:
Details of each bill at the link. Pass It On.
In fact, I think that it is our duty to pass this info on to every veterans organization IN EACH STATE, every local news outlet, IN EACH STATE…and demand that our elected officials make a comment on this. I happen to think that the General’s resignation today may have a backfiring effect. I say that because most veterans know that the VA has had these problems for years. They also know that Gen Shinseki has worked tirelessly on their behalf. They will begin to see more and more pundits, RW talkers, LW talkers and the like..come out and jaw about this, but when they had the chance..none of these people actually took the opportunity to fix the problem, because decades later, it still exists! Add to that the facts that we know about understaffing, bonuses, more people able to access VA care, more returning vets that earned care and further strain the system, and you have a recipe for trouble….I don’t think they will take too kindly to certain people using this situation to score cheap political points….others that have always believed that Repubs had their best interests at heart…should be really, really paying attention now…be honest with yourselves about what you hear…and VOTE FOR DEMS WITH A PROVEN TRACK RECORD OF ACTUAL SUPPORT!
I agree, I think this is going to backfire on GOP and Dems who act like GOP, at least I hope so. Just discovered VOTEVET, that is where Alison G and all other contributions going for time being. Also increasing to Obama organization. Wake up America to the slime in DC.
Bill Clinton had 5 press Secretaries .
1993–1994 Dee Dee Myers
1993 George Stephanopoulos
1994–1998 Mike McCurry
1998–2000 Joe Lockhart
2000–2001 Jake Siewert
GW had how many? I would think of Ari Fleischer, Snowe, The Blonde on the Five, etc.
George W. Bush
2001–2003 Ari Fleischer
2003–2006 Scott McClellan
2006–2007 Tony Snow
2007–2009 Dana Perino
Thanks Linda.
Thanks Linda for posting this. Press secretaries RARELY work for more than 2 years.
Both Dee Dee Myers and George Stephanopoulos at every turn had something negative to say about the Obama Administration.
F Dee Dee and GS. :)
A jackal wants to know exactly when Sec Shinseki resigned. They want a blow by blow minute by minute timeline about what happened. They got their pound of flesh isn’t that enough. Now they want every detail so they can write the negative narratives.
Now they are questioning the new EPA announcements next week and why Gina McCarthy is making the announcement and not President Obama. She is the EPA Administrator. Duh.
Now they want the names of who will replace Secretary Shinseki. As if Jay would tell them now if he knew.
Eff those effing effers!
They leave their souls behind when the cross over inside the belt-way, ( If they have a soul at all )
The POTUS gave Jay “Clark Kent” Carney a HUGE Hug……I hope that Picture and twitpic get a deserved retweets.
Yes, there is a LOT of affection there. I was frankly very uplifted when I heard that remark. Jay is a very intelligent and a very funny guy. Just the sort you’d imagine would be in POTUS’ inner circle.
Noooo, not Jay too!! Man this is like the one-two punch today. Feels like I’m losing old friends and I don’t know either of these upstanding public servants personally. If I’m feeling like this today, come Jan 20, 2017, I’m going to be down for the count. Heavy sigh.
I can’t even think about 2017.
Here is the list of Press Secretaries going back to Truman. ( he had 5 )
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_House_Press_Secretary
I know we’re heartbroken. I know we’re fed up. But we can’t let a setback like Gen. Shinseki’s resignation knock us off our game. That’s what they want. Politics are bruising, and sometimes we take the beating. The key is to get back up and back into the fight. To not do so means a certain loss.
I totally agree LL. We should focus like a laser on CONGRESS.
Yes! Excellent point LL.
I’m pissed off at the stunningly destructive, disloyalty, but for my money any sitting (or running) DEM is a better choice than their GOP opponent. Yes, that goes for Ms. Grimes. Although I’d like to bop her and a bunch of other Dems on their collective heads with some Nerf bats publicly right now.
Oh please, Chuck Todd wringing his hands about systemic problems in the VA and other agencies is just nauseating.
Someone needs to spit on Jonathon Karl.
Pfffatooie!

You are being to nice Linda. Replace P with h. :)
Bwahaha! Dag, you’ll are hardcore! :-D
I wonder it Tammy Duckworth is on the list for Sec VA.
We need her in the House. This seat can flip easily.
Yeh, I thought of that. It boggles the mind, remembering that she only won 55-45 against loud-mouthed deadbeat cretin Joe Walsh.
Some in that district might as well live in rural MS. They will re-elect her but any other Dem could easily be defeated. Besides, they will tear her record apart because she was part of the VA during these years. She’s great where she is and she grows with the job every day. She has a great future but right now I want her in Congress.
Duly noted. Thanks 57.
She called for Sec Shinseki to resign just this morning.

Iraq War Vet Tammy Duckworth Says Shinseki ‘Has To Go’

Noooooo. Ugh
wouldn’t that be a kick in the arse. Tammy would not roll over for the msm instead she would give all the jackals explicit directions to the location of the nearest cliff.
I don’t think that she would be since she has served as Asst to Vet Affairs in the 1st term.
Yeh now that I think of it, she’d be a new scapegoat. Confirmation hearing would be a total circus.
Honestly I have my doubts that Congress will confirm anyone that POTUS selects to run the VA.. I believe keeping the VA without a permanent Secretary is exactly what the repubs want.. and that their ultimate goal is and has been to eliminate it altogether or make it private.. thus helping it to fail IS their goal. Maybe I’m just too cynical anymore.
I need some medical marijuana to calm me down…..
Spark me a joint too Linda. :(
pass the doobie to the left hand side 8-)

I think you’re looking for that “get naked.”
Can’t help you with that, but how about some soothing music and pictures of butterflies and flowers? :-)
Thanks, I will try that.
Thank you, that was beautiful, needed something just like this.
A shame we’re losing Jay Carney. It’s s a very tough exhausting job. I can see where a person might only want it for a limited time. He’s got a young family with kids, so it’s understandable.
The Voice is speaking now……
Haha!
“Statement of Information Policy Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine to the official note of the Foreign Ministry of the Russian Federation regarding so-called “Russian humanitarian aid” in Eastern Ukraine, May 29, 2025
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has considered the request of the Russian side to give it the opportunity to provide so-called humanitarian assistance in the eastern regions of Ukraine.
We believe this proposal is nothing other than another element of propaganda, which has as its goal to demonstrate, especially to the Russian consumer, the supposed “good intentions” of the Kremlin by taking advantage of the difficult situation that Russia has itself provoked in the eastern regions of Ukraine for its own narrow political interests.
In practice, it is specifically because of the actions taken by the Russian side in the East of our country that so far peace and stability have not been reestablished. Russia has not shown any willingness to de-escalate the conflict and to stabilize the situation. From the territory of the Russian Federation, the Ukrainian-Russian border is being systematically violated by armed terrorist groups who kill, terrorize, and intimidate the citizens of Ukraine. Therefore, we should not discount the likelihood that the gimmick of the so-called humanitarian aid is nothing other than a veiled attempt to help Russian mercenaries and terrorists who now find themselves in a difficult situation due to the success of the antiterrorist operations.
Yesterday the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine sent an official response to the request by the Russian side regarding the humanitarian aid. In the document, we proposed that Moscow should focus instead on meeting the many requests for humanitarian aid from the residents of the Crimean Autonomous Republic, which has been annexed by Russia.
We officially expressed our concern that numerous warnings from the international community regarding the rapid deterioration of conditions on the Ukrainian peninsula as a result of the Russian occupation have not received an adequate response from Russia.
In the note, the Ministry has once again called on the Russian side to ensure the rapid and steady fulfillment of its obligations to Ukraine and the world and prevent further deterioration of the situation on Ukraine’s Crimean peninsula, which is on the verge of a humanitarian disaster as a result of Russian armed aggression.
Translation: Anna Mostovych”
