June 2, 2025 - Pete Souza: “Paul McCartney sings “Michelle” to First Lady Michelle Obama during an event honoring McCartney as winner of the annual Gershwin Prize. I knew this was a special moment but didn’t have a full realization of its significance until when I later heard the President telling others that his wife could never have imagined as an African-American girl growing up on the South side of Chicago that someday a Beatle would be singing this song to her as First Lady of the United States.”
Sneaky approach. Real sneaky. I mean, I missed it and I was all ready to go. /smh/ Not even sure I want to give you a morning hug

{{CC}} Good Morning, Gurl Chile. ….:)
{{{CC}}} - Have to give you credit this morning since I was lying in wait for evah and you stepped quietly by. Definitely have to recalibrate my TOD entrance sensors this week! :)
That’s the mystery VC, I haven’t changed my morning sipping routine - tea, tea, tea, coffee - so I don’t understand this bubbly-i-ness. Especially when it’s a Monday.
Thanks Meta for the link to politico story. Does Manhattan have nice dog parks? I don’t think Bo and Sunny will like leaving the White House. If 4-legged kids get to vote, it will probably be Hawaii.
Sara, if you can afford the best in NYC, there is everything-Central Park, access to every single cultural event imaginable and a rich universe of diversity, learning and energy. If money were no object, I’d head for NYC myself. Miss the state, miss the city.
Morning Hopefruit! The President isn’t actually making the announcement himself, the EPA are doing it. He’s doing a conference call with public health groups about the new policy, but I don’t think we get to hear that.
They’re all following suit this a.m., Matt Lauer opened asking if the safety and security of all of us was put at risk for the release of one man.
This is the current GOP/media theme.
EVERYONE. Including my liberal husband. See, here’s the problem: people like my husband are somewhat informed but susceptible. He is my barometer for John Q. Public, and he is ‘listening to both sides’ this morning. I had to explain to him that the ‘other side’ lies 95% of the time. I hate that I have to remind him of that. I admit that I was tuned out this weekend and now I have to ferret out the actual truth.
But when Mr. 57 is falling for the b.s., that means the the b.s.-ers have done their job.
THIS ENTIRE CONVERSATION REGARDING THE BERGDAHL TRADE IS VERY UNWORTHY OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST…A HUMAN LIFE IS A HUMAN LIFE…HE SUFFERED 5 YEARS IN CAPTIVITY AND I DON’T GIVE A DAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM WHO THEY TRADE. IT’S ANOTHER EXCUSE TO PICK ON PBO AND IN THE MEANTIME THEY WILL MAKE THIS VETERAN FEEL VERY POORLY ABOUT HIS OWN RELEASE! OUR COUNTRY SHOULD BE VERY ASHAMED OF THE HORRIFIC BAG OF DIRT IT HOUSES IN THE HALLS OF CONGRESS. GOD’S WRATH WILL SPEAK TO ALL THAT IS WRONG HERE. IT’S EMB ARRASSING AND WRONGFUL IN SO MANY WAYS! I DO HOPE THAT LATER IN HIS RECOVERY…THE OBAMAS WILL HAVE BOWE,FAMILY AND FRIENDS TO THE WH FOR A CELERATIVE DINNER AND SHOW THIS ROTTEN COUNTRY THAT THE THIRD LEG ON THEIR CHAIR IS MISSING. AMERICA HAS LOST ITS GODLINESS!
I MEAN WHAT I SAY WHEN I UTILIZE THE WORD ‘ROTTEN’….THIS COUNTRY HAS PROVEN ITSELF TO BE FILLED WITH HATRED,PREJUDICE,GREED AND SELF CONSUMPTION…TRUE INDEED….WE ARE OUR OWN WORST ENEMY!
He’s being deliberately ambiguous thus lending credence to the GOP’s position. The media did this same nonsense with the birth certificate issue. This is not a matter of debate.
Good morning. Good news from PA comes from the latest Rasmussen poll, showing Dem Tom Wolf leading Corbett by 20 points. Corbett has the support of only 59 percent of R’s in the state, while Wolf enjoys an 83 percent approval among D’s, the majority party. Corbett is one nasty piece of work who needs to be gone in December. My hope is that Wolf has coat tails for both state and Congressional races. By the way this was the percentage advantage that Bob Casey had over Santorum in 2006 at this stage in the game when he ended up crushing Santorum that November. Fingers crossed.
Now if we can just keep IL out of the hands of the gazillionaire who is blanketing our airwaves with his folksy ‘charm’ when he is on record saying he is going to make Scott Walker look like a liberal.
Has never served a day in any elected office. He terrifies me. Yet our Dem governor who has had to make very hard choices is very unpopular.
God help us. I hope we don’t swap PA for IL in the RWNJ dept.
I’m afraid we’re going to end up with Rauner—-seems to be a coordinated push to oust Quinn. Media seems to be protecting problematic/controversial issues re. Rauner, including some prickly divorce issues. Sick of seeing the manufactured cutesiness of Rauner’s ads also where the wife says she is a (fake) Dem and she’s Voting For Him Anyway! Ugh.
It’s far from over but I’d like to see Dems start fighting back. However, our crooked Dems in the legislature would be happy with the bribes they’ll get from rauner, the state be damned.
I heard this on Dick Kay’s radio show awhile ago (and you need to push this far and wide): the ‘term limits’ referendum. It is written so that it doesn’t go into effect for 10 years, so the current batch is unaffected. But the worst part is that it reconfigures the IL legislature: cuts Senate seats, increases House seats. It will forever shift the power away from the population centers to rural RWNJ’s.
57, it’s not too late to turn it around if a big push is made in Chicago. A right wing governor brings a right wing SOS and that means discrimination and voter suppression through 2016 and beyond. It’s worth doing anything to prevent this.
Everyone always underestimates Quinn - he’s a harder fighter than people realize. In no way have I given up. And Rauner’s blanketing of the air waves is tiring people out - it’s so obviously phony.
However, he managed to corral the IL ‘Latinos for Obama’ head who now wants the ‘breath of fresh air” of Rauner. And they found a token black as well.
It’s nowhere near too late, but it’s going to be a very hard, long fight.
Being the 2nd of the month I don’t have to play fool’s games to access the NYTimes - it would seem in Idaho - they care not what the pundits say about their boy

“In churches on Sunday and among the steady stream of residents sharing information at Zaney’s River Street Coffee House, Sergeant Bergdahl’s release dominated all talk. The focus was both on what he had gone through and on what they all could expect in the future.”
So the Obama Administration wasn’t to cut carbon emissions more than any time in the history of the United States of America, shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit, I thought Al Gore already cleaned up the environment. Oh, he didn’t, he just made a billion dollars talking about cleaning up the environment and pointing fingers.
The only thing missing from the Whitehouse this weekend has Tom Hagan walking into President Obama’s private study and whispering in his ear that all the heads of the five families are dead.
We remember just last week Sec. Kerry had to straighten out Chris Cuomo, when Cuomo tried to put words in Kerry mouth and Kerry told him don’t try to do that, he knows exactly what he said. It shut up the Cuomo dude too
Good morning Ms Chips! Morning VC, Cos, hopefruit, and everyone! I haven’t been commenting much, we lost our sweet 14-year old tomcat last week, so would not have been good company anyway. Good news all around, the polls sound very positive! Loved this moment when McCartney sang to our First Lady!

Was 41 Republican Senators blocking that VA veterans bill a risk to the Republicans, has everything low down dirty racists thing they have done since Obama has been in office, is that a risk to the Republican Party. These Reps has refused job bill, immigration, unemployment benefits, raise minimum wage, sensible back ground check on guns, after little kids were gun down, they have gone after voter’s right, and that’s just to name afew. Is all that a risk to the Republicans Mark Murray?
In Norfolk, evidence of climate change is in the streets at high tide
Norfolk exists because of the sea. Ships have been built in its harbors since the Revolutionary War. It is home to the largest naval base on the globe. Bounded by the Chesapeake Bay and two rivers, sliced by coastal creeks, Norfolk has always been vulnerable to flooding. But over the past decade, people began noticing alarming trends.
…
The city hired a Dutch consulting firm to develop an action plan, finalized in 2012, that called for new flood gates, higher roads and a retooled storm water system. Implementing the plan would cost more than $1 billion — the size of the city’s entire annual budget — and protect Norfolk from about a foot of additional water.
As the city was contemplating that enormous price tag, the Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS) last year delivered more bad news: If current trends hold, VIMS scientists said, by the end of this century, the sea in Norfolk would rise by 51 / 2 feet or more.
Good Morning my Chips and TOD family. Everyone have a lovely day and get some refreshing quiet moments to center yourself in your space because the people have started already to try to pull at our hearts.
Put your boots on early. Walk it, speak it, and trust our President; but lift him up with your beautiful thoughts for wisdom, physical strength, and that calm but fighting spirit to keep him through this day. Pray for a safe and very productive trip with his team. Courage, inspiration, and determination be his companions as he travel on this journey.
It is a joyful grace to be above the green today, and I hope to use each moment to help someone pay their bills by me paying mine. Get to the paper work. Pray for me.
“These bills represent an Abundance of the goods and services I have received to enhance my life. Now, I have the Blessing of circulating the Energy of money in exchange for them.” Amen.
May the mother who just stepped out the door trying to catch not one but three buses to go and do her job to be able to put food on her table be blessed.
May the father who went out early trying to figure which place to go in order to try to get an interview to get a job to take care of his family.
May the students who just came home from school find that job to help them get through summer school or find a job to help them save to get back into college this fall.
May the senior who need some cool air to help keep the small house or room cool for the summer find that caring help when he or she call in.
May the children who need that mother or father to answer as many calls sitting in that chair when customer service receive those call about an issue be bless to make his or her quota.
May the neighbors who just got the notice to move out find that apartment who has a gentle and full heart of compassion to rent to him./her family and children.
May that senior not have to tell the pharmacy to only fill three of the six medications because he./she did not get enough in her/his check this month.
May we all stop, pray a prayer or give a word of thoughtfulness to the children who will not get a decent meal because Congress refused to allow the food to come to them because of where they live or the color or their skin. Oh, mommy, I wish I could just go back to school.
Count your blessings but do not count them and forget how much work we have to do to make A Blessing For Our Brothers and Sisters all over this nation because the evil, political hearts ruled over the gentle, firm, and decent cores of men and women with power in our Congress.
Circulate your blessings wherever you can today. People need all of us. () Have a nice day, my beautiful TOD family.HZ
IMHO she is running against the wellbeing of the citizens of her state…I pretty much have had enough of ‘well she needs to this to win’ it’s outrageous!
Shame she has to use GOP talking points and describe clean air as a “war on coal” If she keeps it up - she will lose - actually - she has probably lost already.
Unfortunately, you get this from all Dem’s in coal states: WV, KY. On this I’m not surprised.
It’s her running to the mic to crow about Shinseki resigning and the painful silent week she took before deciding to be pro-ACA that I have problems with.
I expect to see Sen. McConnell until the turtle shell strangles his scrawny ass.
We do live in interesting times where up is down and down is up, but under the leadership of PBO we are steadily moving forward in so many areas that suffered for decades from inertia. All of the sound and fury that surrounds everything that he does is to be expected because change is difficult. PBO’s administration is truly transformative and we are so blessed to be alive and aware and able to participate.
Thanks to everyone who works so hard to keep all of us informed and up to date.
“I firmly believe that, in some very prominent place in his mind, John McCain is in the second year of his second term as president of the United States. He certainly is president of John McCain. I don’t know the source of this delusion; in no way, is the guy a leader, either of his party or his nation. His only obvious followers are Senators Huckleberry Butchmeup from South Carolina and Kelly Ayotte, the Richelieu Of Rye.”

{{CC}} Good Morning, Gurl Chile. ….:)
:-) Moooooooorning VC!!!!
{{{CC}}} - Have to give you credit this morning since I was lying in wait for evah and you stepped quietly by. Definitely have to recalibrate my TOD entrance sensors this week! :)
I’m feeling very bouncy and nimble-footed this morning VC, so there was an inevitability to my triumph.
Okay, so what did you have to drink before, or after, your morning walk? ‘Fess up!
That’s the mystery VC, I haven’t changed my morning sipping routine - tea, tea, tea, coffee - so I don’t understand this bubbly-i-ness. Especially when it’s a Monday.
Maybe you are testing the old ‘power of positive thinking’ theory. Monday is exactly the day to test its validity!
Or, could DannyO have tipped a bit of the bubbly into your tea-tea-tea-coffee?
Ah ha, the bubbly theory sounds plausible!!!!
When you turn 23 you will regret your cheating ways - or not
:-) With age comes character? Will anything change when I hit 22, or do I have to wait til 23?
23 is old in your age system - 22 is spent worrying about 23.
There are those that age gracefully and gain character - then there is John McCain. Pretty sure you will follow the former path.
Good morning TOD. Can Danny come out to play?
Thanks Meta for the link to politico story. Does Manhattan have nice dog parks? I don’t think Bo and Sunny will like leaving the White House. If 4-legged kids get to vote, it will probably be Hawaii.

G’morning Chips & TOD!!!
I may have missed if the time was already posted on TOD, but does any one know when our President will make his announcement?
Morning Hopefruit! The President isn’t actually making the announcement himself, the EPA are doing it. He’s doing a conference call with public health groups about the new policy, but I don’t think we get to hear that.
Okay thanks! :)
Morning, COS, Hopef, Sara, and anyone else in the house!
Why can I be chatting on the last thread and not even notice there is a new one? sigh
{{TS}} They move too fast sometimes. ;)
Isn’t he agreeing with the trade?
He’s ‘asking’ if people agree. So the GOP puts out a false meme, and everyone including Dem’s follow into the
‘some say’ rabbit hole.
This is part of our problem: Dems who continue to play this game. Every tweet like this chips away at our ability to set or change the narrative.

To sane people there is no controversy, to right wing extreme radical racists conservatives who “HATE” that black President, there is controversy.
The media likes controversy, so we know which way they are going to go, even though they know things like this have been done before.

Thanks to everyone here who stimulate all of us tweeters with great comments and ideas!

and yet the ‘unlawful’ meme is pouring out of every GOP mouth. Their ‘grounds for impeachment.
Good morning, Chips, BTs and TODers.
Another day, another fight with the press.
I think they would all have a meltdown if the word ” but ” was eliminated from the English Language.
It’s their favorite punctuation.

Amen to that.

Good Morning Chips and TOD.

According to the news, everybody should hate clean sir!
Clean air and clean sirs ! :)
Rise and Shine.

The Vacant Soul Of John McCain
“I firmly believe that, in some very prominent place in his mind, John McCain is in the second year of his second term as president of the United States. He certainly is president of John McCain. I don’t know the source of this delusion; in no way, is the guy a leader, either of his party or his nation. His only obvious followers are Senators Huckleberry Butchmeup from South Carolina and Kelly Ayotte, the Richelieu Of Rye.”
UNFORTUNATELY 99…HE REPRESENTS THE REPUBLICAN ‘INSANITY’ THAT HAS FRANKLY RUINED ALL THIS COUNTRY STANDS FOR!…IT IS EVERY SAD!
