Worst President in my lifetime. Incompetent is an understatement
My ‘unbiased’ $0.02 from across the pond.
You all remember nut n yahoo’s last ‘address’ to the cong critters just before the 2012 elections where there was a 100% attendance and all the critters gave him ‘standing ovation’ for every crap he spewed?
From that utter 100% crass cowardliness of the critters to today’s 90% (mebbe it’ll ‘grow’ into lower number) cowardliness, I’d say he has done a heckuva job.
Just an FYI…..Spandan is back at TPV. He explains his temporary absence, and has posted two excellent articles: one on “Don’t feel sorry for John Boehner” with a good rundown on Boehner’s behavior and motives, and the second on the far left and how they should be apologizing to PB after his veto of the KXL, but of course they haven’t.
On a personal note: I met my new doctor today. We HAD to change doctors for several reasons. I so like her. She actually listened and explained, and I believe I will have good care. Fortunately, I haven’t been sick, but we never know when we get to a “certain age.” This was a relief. I was nervous beforehand, because I have so disliked my previous doctor for over a decade. I know, I know, a slow learner, but we finally made the decision to leave him, got a good recommendation from close friends, and both of us are delighted. We wanted to stay in the same hospital network we’d been in for 40 years…..transition made, and it’s a good one. Relief tonight.
Very happy for both of you, Carolyn!
good for you carolyn…it is hard make a change of docs…even when you are not entirely satisfied…the fear of the unknown sometimes is stronger than the discontent of the known….
i recently had my doc of 22 years retire….it was so soo hard…accepting it…and even more difficult to find another doc….i have since found a new doc..but it is not the same…never will be….

Thank you, NW, for yet another outstanding set of informative (and fun) tweets!!
OT, but a little something for all of you to enjoy …
All of you may want to read this before viewing the video …
The Rijksmuseum museum in Holland had an idea: Let’s bring the art to the people and then, hopefully, they will come to see more - at the museum. They took one Rembrandt painting from 1642, Night Watch and brought to life the characters in it, placed them in a busy mall and the rest you can see for yourself!
Bob, that was awesome! I would love for our Children’s Museum or African American Museum to do something like that in one of our Malls in Los Angeles.
Thanks for posting this!
Wow, that was fun! LOVE the Rijksmuseum.
Same for us, meta. Unforgettable experience being there!
Thanks, Bob.
Thanks also for the video. What an innovative, creative, and fun idea!
Glad you enjoyed it, NW!!
What an amazing and wonderful thing for the Rijksmuseum to do. And what an unforgettable experience for the shoppers.
Agree, JackieG!!
Pakistani authorities have conducted their first-ever mass arrest of parents for refusing to allow their children to be vaccinated against polio.
Authorities in Peshawar, in the north-west of the country, detained 471 people and charged them with “endangering public security”.
The local government says they will only be freed once they have pledged in writing to vaccinate their children.
The Taliban prohibit vaccinations and have attacked health workers.
…
The Taliban have claimed that the polio vaccination drive is a front for espionage or a conspiracy to sterilise Muslims.
In November four polio vaccination workers were shot dead in the south-west city of Quetta.

Gee, I wonder who(m) the last lines remind me of.
NW, what a great summary of the day’s news. Muchas gracias!

Hey HGTV watchers…. tonight is the finale.
I’m rooting for Tim. There is something about Katie that irritates me. :)
Twenty-seven senior Afghan police officers have been sacked as part of what the government calls a drive towards good governance.
The move involves 17 district police chiefs in the capital Kabul, along with officers involved in counter-narcotics.
The changes were ordered by Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, who has said many officers had links to warlords.
Since taking office last September, Mr Ghani has repeatedly sacked officials accused of corruption.
Recently he sacked dozens of officials just hours into a snap inspection.
However the BBC’s Jonathan Beale in Kabul says the latest dismissals are not as radical as they appears. Many of the police officers removed have been handed new jobs and awards.

I don’t get it.
Good morning amk, check the opposing direction of the skis on the sled ;)
smacks head. of course. Thx, Bob. :)
You just needed that first cup of coffee, amk :)

Reason no. 1 why men are such spendthrifts.
An ancestor of mine fell off his horse & died after spending a few hours at his “local”. The publican and his son used all of those answers at the inquest that followed - there being a law against supplying inebriated people with more drink.
his wifey unit made him do it.
Background; Ohio is the place I have called home since I left my country of birth; Cleveland is just less than 3 hours away if you drive; So the killing of the CHILD Tamir Rice is something that I feel happened in my neighborhood;
What has me so upset today: the choice of the city of Cleveland to blame the 12-year-old CHILD they murdered (Tamir Rice) for causing his death!!!! Why would anyone with any brain and soul do something so callous;
My visceral reaction to this garbage from Cleveland was in the form of rage expressed in Ms Nina Simone’s : “Mississippi Goddam”. It may be different circumstances but right now I feel like shouting “Cleveland Goddam”
She deserves much gratitude, primarily from Israelis ….
The concluding remarks by our Ambassador Rice could not be more poignant ….
“This weekend, President Obama will travel to Selma, Alabama, to mark the 50th anniversary of the historic marches there. He’ll pay tribute to those brave souls who took enormous risks for civil rights, including Jews and rabbis from across the country—from St. Louis and San Francisco; the Northeast and the Deep South. They faced tear gas and billy clubs, Torahs in hand. They were jailed. They conducted Shabbat services behind bars, and they sang “Adon Olam” to the tune of “We Shall Overcome.” They broke the fast of Esther in prison. They even started a trend. Some black marchers, moved by the solidarity of their Jewish brethren, started wearing yarmulkes—they called them “freedom caps.”
As you recalled last night, one of those on the front lines in Selma was the great teacher, Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel. After marching across the Edmund Pettus Bridge with Dr. King, he reflected, “our legs uttered songs. Even without words, our march was worship.” Our march was our worship.
The Jewish community amplified the rightness and the urgency of the civil rights movement with its own unassailable moral compass—guided by the basic principle that people should be free in their own land. And, I stand before you knowing that I and many others would not be where we are today without all those who fought for equal rights – African Americans and white Americans, including so many Jewish Americans. As we mark that Selma anniversary, as we gather here to celebrate an improbable dream that grew into the great State of Israel, we remember what we can accomplish together, when we’re at our best.
In a spirit of brotherhood, we have overcome so many trials to reach where we are—as nations, as peoples. In a spirit of brotherhood, inspired by all those who marched and struggled and sacrificed before us, let us continue the work. Let us never succumb to hopelessness or cynicism, to division or despair. Let our legs utter songs, and let our hands reach out together. That is how we fulfill our common commitment to mend our imperfect world, to do the holy work of tikkun olam. And, as we do, at home and around the world, the United States will always stand with our Israeli friends and allies.
That’s our enduring commitment. That’s our sacred duty. That’s the hope and the future for our children. So, let us keep marching arm in arm together.”
Class, total CLASS!
I’ve said this before: I hope she runs for POTUS one day. She is remarkable.
Other than Ambassador Power, who can’t run, she is 2nd only to VP Biden as the most qualified next President of the USA, imo, meta.
Absolutely beautiful speech, perfect in tone and aptness to her audience. Ambassador Rice is a brilliant and remarkable person and I am very proud that she is dealing with our nation’s foreign policy at the highest level. What an asset she is to this country and what a positive image to the world.
So true, JackieG!!
Bob, thank you so much for posting Amb Rice’s words.
I am bone tired from the day, but, I swelled up with pride as I read her words. Remarkable! She echo’s the poise of our President and does us all so proud. Thank you Amb Rice!
Something we should all strive to do - Rise above the hatred and shame them with our intelligence and reliance.
I knew she would shine. She always shines, because she is very, very intelligent.
Wow….. what an orator, what an inspiring speech!
Thank you, meta ….
Thx!

Read the ending.
Great story, amk. I do sorta hope they find peace with each other before it’s all over for one of them ….
What an incredible story. The man can take everything in his stride, but can’t forgive to talk to his sister. Sad.
sad indeed.
Rachel just said some ” breaking political new”…….amazing. Taking one minute to nail it down. Okay…..back. Hillary use personal email to do state dept. work. Said she never had a government email address. ?????????? Makes NO sense. Can anyone explain?
If true, she’s in a big pile of ……
Yup….
yup, more on this mess.
http://www.nytimes.com/2015/03/03/us/politics/hillary-clintons-use-of-private-email-at-state-department-raises-flags.html?_r=0
How many emails were in Mrs. Clinton’s account is not clear, and neither is the process her advisers used to determine which ones related to her work at the State Department before turning them over.
“It’s a shame it didn’t take place automatically when she was secretary of state as it should have,” said Thomas S. Blanton, the director of the National Security Archive, a group based at George Washington University that advocates government transparency. “Someone in the State Department deserves credit for taking the initiative to ask for the records back. Most of the time it takes the threat of litigation and embarrassment.”
Mr. Blanton said high-level officials should operate as President Obama does, emailing from a secure government account, with every record preserved for historical purposes.
…
The revelation about the private email account echoes longstanding criticisms directed at both the former secretary and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, for a lack of transparency and inclination toward secrecy.
…
Mrs. Clinton’s successor, Secretary of State John Kerry, has used a government email account since taking over the role, and his correspondence is being preserved contemporaneously as part of State Department records, according to his aides.

sheer incompetency. or corruption?
Why? Why? it seems to me lessons were learned by not retained. This seems so bizarre to me. why would she do this? It makes no sense but it does make perfect sense when it’s Hillary Clinton.
eeeyup. And the emmessem have just got started on her. even before she ‘announced’ her candidacy.
Next two years are gonna be unbearable.
That was one of my primary concerns about her candidacy…it will be one “scandal” or distraction after another…No one is perfect but we need someone with less baggage to go about the business of running this country.
What sorta ‘advisers’ did she have around her as SS? How come none had a clue about this mess? It’s all 2006-08 again.
The same kinds of clueless “advisers” who told Allyson Grimes to run as a “Clinton Democrat” and not on the successes of the current President….
I almost forgot.
‘sup?
Proof that evolution is still occurring…
NOW…THAT’S WHAT I CALL…………….A BLUE DRESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Corruption would be my first choice ….
Moreover ….
Don’t come at me with bull shit ….
Both. More bullshit as well. #tiredofhillary
Her husband did not inform her? Since he has so much information for our President.
I hope she is in deep shit because she is not who she says she is. She is just as sick of Bill as we are.
They deserve each other.
They have collaborated in f***ing up too many people’s lives for their political gain.
It may seem like team work to some. But on the flip side it is cynical, arrogant, serious narcism and boarder line racism involved here.
They are not aging well. Bile is starting to seep out and usually it makes you look older than your years.
Yes, I am sick of calling out racists and using the word “racist.”
But the impact of having an African American President has unleashed the core of those who are.
Every day he wakes up and is still working hard holding his peace with a smile. That’s more than enough for me.
It reassures me that he has a plan. He is the President…….I’m good!
Sending prayers and good thoughts to GoBrooklyn <3

If Clinton (Hillary) had a top secret clearance as SOS, how could she conduct State Dept through her non-secured personal email account?
state dept “business”
It’s a TOTAL FAIL, idon. TOTAL.
It is a total fail Bob, yet when GOP governors do the same it is simply “business as usual”. Two rules for two political parties.
No, 99. It’s a total fail irrespective of the fact that, temporarily, certain folk think they are acting with impunity. History has never been kind to those ‘certain folk.’
mmm - I see a few who have yet to pay - but I live in hope - being what PBO has enforced many times :) It was a wonderful meme he inspired - I am forever thankful for the man & those who voted for him.
As am I, 99. And, history is irrevocably on President Obama’s team.
I have to admit I am surprised at my reaction to the news about Hillary’s emails today. I am not surprised that she tried to hide them incase there was anything in them that could give her a problem running for the Presidency. That act is in character with how she ran in the primary in 2008. I am not her fan. My surprise is that I became aware that I would rather have her than a Republican and I worry if she runs with dumb moves like this she could lose.
ireesh are getting clobbered by the proteas. 6 runs an over in first 10.
1/214 after 36 - about time to pick up on the run rate
They picked it up 4,4,6,4
As long as AB is there, 400 is a possibility. Also. Too. Amla.
I hazard they will win with 300 (but are my prophesies not so good) - Amla gone - AB still there
also. too. AB. stupid shot. law of averages and all that shite. Ireesh have track records of chasing 300+
Given my thoughts we can probably give Ireland the match :) I’ve been on the losing end almost every match I’ve followed.
Totally off topic, two young Indian guys driving ancient ute with flat tyre just stopped out front to readjust their furniture load. I hope they don’t have too far to go!
Mini collapse here!
hugs, prayers, aloha, and boundless hope coming your way gobrooklyn. you will be well <3
1st world problems - unrelated to cricket - my dentist has retired!! I might never recover from the shock of having to go see someone who really wants to fix my teeth rather than clean them up and send me home - ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
I was reading the Clinton story in the NYT and noted that there is a list alongside of the 10 most emailed stories on the NYT. 4 of those 10 (including No 1) were about Downton Abbey. This defines the US media.
Unf-believable! Only Hillary could bring a welcome distraction from “the speech”. Cannot stop laughing. With all of the digital upgrades the O administration did when they came into office, you know she once again just thought she could ignore the rules when they came to her. The timing is too funny and oh so perfect. Take that Bibbi! And on another positive note, I am happy to see more and more Dems seem inclined to skip the speech tomorrow. I’ll be curious to see the final tally. In any event, at this point I don’t think they are going to have much impact unless he is stupid enough to reveal confidential details. If he does that, he will pay an even bigger price. Not sure if even Netanyahu is that stupid.
A distraction to the speech…. itself a distraction from the GOP-led Congress that cannot do its job.
Furthermore, a distraction from the fact that the GOP is shutting down DHS. After this distraction, 5 days from now, the DHS shut down will be placed on the President.
No it will not be President Obama’s fault, NCLB. Period. And any attempt to make it so will be met with derision.
Oh, I know. But putting it on the WH’s shoulders will be the new spin. The crooked spirits always find a way to lend a blame at the doorstep of the WH.
You are correct NCLB. They always manage to find some way of blaming PBO so this scenario wont be any different. Just watch and see.
for each tweet that suggests PO is at fault, someone should rt with a link to the video of POTUS trying to dunk his cookie in a glass of milk but can’t .. then he says “Thanks Obama”.
That clip would put things back in perspective every single time.
There is nothing hard there. They ought to be present at the POTUS’s meeting, the President of their country. Clear Choice. Period.
Ha!
Glad you are enlightening them, Bobfr.
Thank you, NCLB :)
Good night TOD
“Goodnight you princes of Maine, you kings of New England.

WORLD FEDERATION OF UKRAINIAN WOMEN ORGANIZATIONS
CALL TO ACTION
SOLIDARITY with NADIYA SAVCHENKO Hunger Strike
March 8 2015 – International Women’s Day
The World Federation of Ukrainian Women Organizations calls upon women around the world to unite in support of Nadiya Savchenko on March 8 – International Women’s Day – by joining Nadiya Savchenko in her hunger strike for one day.
In June 2014, Nadiya Savchenko, a Ukrainian military pilot and former officer of the Ukrainian army, serving in a Ukrainian volunteer battalion in eastern Ukraine, was captured by Russian terrorists and illegally transferred to Russia.
She is being held in prison in Moscow where she awaits a trial date in May 2015 on charges that she provided the coordinates of two Russian journalists who were killed in a mortar attack in the Luhansk region. Savchenko denies the charges and cell phone records confirm that she was in the custody of Russian forces when the journalists were killed.
Since December 13, 2014, Nadia has been on a hunger strike protesting her illegal detention. She has lost 17 kilograms (37 pounds) or 26% of her body weight. Her situation is critical.
The UN Commissioner for Human Rights and governments across the world have called for Savchenko’s immediate release.
Show your support for Nadiya Savchenko by joining this international hunger strike. Notify local media to bring attention to Nadiya’s critical situation and call for her immediate release. Local events can include demonstrations, marches, vigils or meetings in community centres or even private homes. Invite a speaker, send articles to local newspapers, issue a media advisory, publicize your event on social media, send messages of support to Nadiya, upload photos and reports about your event to the Nadiya Savchenko Facebook page. (https://www.facebook.com/nadiyasavchenko1).
Donations equivalent to the cost of food you would have consumed on this day can be made to the Patriot Defence Fund (www.patriotdefence.org) in support of Ukraine’s army.
Join us in supporting Nadiya. Together we can make a difference.
2,000 only!?! Twitter ought to be able to shut the whole thing down by region, grouping, section, segment, international boundaries, or NSA them all. Every single suspect account.
poor bowling, poor fielding so far from the ireesh.
Which genocide I may ask?
““I personally want to offer an apology to anyone who was offended by our organization’s ad about National Security Advisor Susan Rice,”
that apology was not an apology.
Very witty.
This is dated. The DOW is actually at 18,288 K .
http://www.c-span.org/video/?324597-2/american-israel-public-affairs-committee-annual-conference
The speech by Susan Rice was excellent. She laid out POTUS’s expectations and strategy very clearly.
Bill R. You’re right. But it was posted here for the trend of all metrics.
aaand the south africans score over 400 runs, twice in a row for the first time ever and set a new record.
And somewhat of an Irish collapse - I might have got one right - 5/54
well, at least they crossed 3 figures.
From 48-5 to 185-8. Not bad at all for minnows. They need to hang in there for another 10 more overs.
All out for 210 in 45. Too bad they didn’t last the length.
They did well to pass 200 after the horrible start. I missed most of it - 2nd innings is always while I am doing the evening chores - a housewife’s job is never done - sigh
Agreed. If they had lasted another 5 more overs, it would have done a lot of good for their net run rate. They still have a chance if they win next 2 out 3 matches. No, they can’t win all three since we will be in the way. 8-)
India is doing well and a couple of seemingly easy matches to come - wonder if West Indies can pick up their game - if my lot can’t win tomorrow they might as well go home - not far to go either.
We might the only team to have a clean sheet going into QF.
Good Morning……

Exclusive: Obama says Iran must halt key nuclear work for at least a decade
WITH RELATED VIDEOS. Morning everyone:)
Morning, Df. I hope Iran agrees to this. The deal is too important to Iran’s own success and security and I would also hate to see Bibi win in any way.
Morning to you, jackieg:) I don’t know. I just don’t know….I hope so, but I think they may argue about this quite a bit…I just hope they have the courage and will to dare to change their path and not listen to the noise/hate/fear/ of others. We can do this. We HAVE to do this.
Will Bibi commit to the same?

If my memory serves me correctly I believe our Chips has a funeral to attend today. (thinking of you and his family)

Thank you, Donna, for reminding us of the date. I read your comment after I posted below and now I remember the significance of this day for both Chips and GB. My heart goes out to both of them. Hope you’re feeling a little better today.
A little better today.
Looks as if there are a few of us here this morning, waiting for the shop door to open. We’re got more snow and freezing rain in the forecast for today, so I’m trying (hard) to look on whatever bright side I can find.
