Almost as bad as the commentators (and moderator!) on a local show that were laughing at John McCain’s response to a heckler recently. I get that McCain had the right to answer to the charges being leveled against him (that he reacted too slow to the VA problems) but the words he chose were inappropriate. He even accused the guy of not even being from AZ (he was ) and called the guy a jerk. Is it really a surprise that he chose Sarah Palin as his running mate in 2008?
And here were these political pundits laughing with glee at McCain’s behavior. We really dodged a bullet when he was not elected president. Something tells me Obama would not have gotten a pass if he had acted like this, but for some reason McCain gets away with shit like this.
“In fact, a poll conducted by the Jewish advocacy organization J Street found that 84 percent of Jewish-Americans support President Obama in his efforts to forge a nuclear deal with Iran. Very plainly, in every sense imaginable, Netanyahu does not represent American Jews tuning into his speech—whether in Congress, on TV or on social media—and watching wouldn’t necessarily show support for the Jewish people or even Israel. Nor is boycotting the speech in any way, shape or form anti-Israel or anti-Semitic. In fact, articulating and operating from a more nuanced and accurate understanding of anti-Semitism would be infinitely more helpful to Jews and Israel in general than attending Netanyahu’s selfish star turn.
Apparently, it’s not enough for Benjamin Netanyahu to poison the political terrain in Israel he has to spread his toxic extremism in America, too. Don’t let him do it, people.”

“It is shocking that the House speaker is willing to violate two cardinal principles of U.S. foreign policy: that democratic governments should not interfere in the elections of allied nations and that America should speak with one voice on foreign affairs. Moreover, why interfere on the side of Israel’s Likud Party when the values and policies of its opposition, the Zionist Alliance, are far closer to those of the United States on such crucial issues as settlement expansion?
Worse, if Congress heeds Mr. Netanyahu’s advice and torpedoes a potential arms-control agreement with Iran, a new American war in the Middle East is likely. In that regard, it is important to recognize that Mr. Netanyahu seeks nothing less than the complete elimination of Iranian nuclear technology, even for peaceful purposes. Few believe this is feasible short of war.
President Obama has said he will take America to war if necessary to ensure Iran does not obtain nuclear weapons, but he understandably wants to avert an unnecessary war if possible and focus on fighting Islamist extremism rather than generating more of it. Indeed, Iran is helping Iraq to defeat the Islamic State group and that should not be lightly discounted.
When Mr. Netanyahu appears before Congress, its members should boycott his address out of respect for the vital role of the commander in chief in our system of government and the right of the Israeli people to vote in an election without undue foreign interference.”

Don't Cry for John Boehner call him out for the ultra right wing tool that he is MT— The People's View http://t.co/48AeBaVea7
— Pretty Foot (@PrettyFootWoman) March 2, 2025
John Boehner is not a victim of the rise of the effective right wing control in the House of Representatives. He is the architect of it. He has been every bit as motivated by the hatred of President Obama as those who are now seen as tightening the proverbial noose around his speakership’s neck. From the moment Republicans took over the House in 2011, Boehner has been remarkably focused on undermining President Obama and steadfastly dedicated to a extreme-Right agenda.
WELL DONE PRETTYFOOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!….BRAVO! RUSTY IS NEVER A VICTIM…HE HAS INSTIGATED AND PLANNED ALL OF THE CHARADES ON THE HILL…UNMASK HIM AND GIVE HIM THE ORANGE SUIT HE DESERVES!
Well, honour on the field of battle may not necessarily transfer to the field of life. Heck, he can hang with whomever he wants; that’s a reflection on *him*.
It’s disgusting how superficial and incompetent our media are. There is a report out now pointing out how climate change is a contributing factor in the conflict in Syria and there have been conflicts over water access in Kenya as well as refugee crises because of terrible drought and famine in East Africa. Republicans prefer to bury their heads in the sand, collect their oil and gas industry contributions, and neglect the strategic interests of the United States.
Given that the President basically summarized the report, I do have one question:
No mention was made about hiring practices.
Let me explain: My father was head of the finance department of the Amsterdam City Police from the mid-70s to the late 80s. One striking statistic he told me was that, on average, only 1 in 10 of the applicants for the job of police officer was hired - too many people either didn’t qualify or tried to enter the Corps with a wrong attitude (to what a police officer should be).
Did the group that produced this report even looked into that ?
I *do* remember a police officer in Ferguson - on national television, no less - talking about the people he was supposed to “serve and protect” as “animals”. Why would the local police force even *hire* someone with this attitude ? Surely there would be others willing to join who’d fare better in the “people skill” department ?

Sen. Kirk: Chicago could end up like Detroit if Emanuel loses
USA TODAY 5:02 p.m. EST March 2, 2025
CHICAGO — With polls showing a close race in next month’s runoff mayoral election, Sen. Mark Kirk suggested on Monday that that the city could go the way of financially strapped Detroit if voters fail to re-elect Rahm Emanuel.
“The people who are running against Rahm don’t have the gravitas with the bond market. I would worry about the value of the Chicago debt if Rahm was not re-elected,” Kirk, R-Ill., told reporters at an event celebrating Casmir Pulaski, the Polish general who fought gallantly in the American Revolutionary War.
Mayor Emanuel and his challenger, Jesus “Chuy” (Chew-wee) Garcia, face voters in an April 7 runoff.
MARCH 2nd, 1807
Congress Bans International Slave Trade
On March 2, 1807, Congress approved a bill to ban the importation of slaves into the United States. The act took effect on January 1, 1808, and provided that violators were to be fined up to $2000 or imprisoned. The act was poorly enforced; the government often refused to allow the British Royal Navy to search and seize American slave ships and rarely imposed serious punishments against captains, officers, and owners of slave ships participating in illegal slave trading. Consequently, Africans continued to be smuggled into the country, but in smaller numbers. In the two decades following the ban, approximately 10,000 enslaved Africans were brought to the Gulf region, compared to the 73,000 enslaved Africans who arrived in the United States between 1801 and 1808. Mobile, Alabama, holds the distinction of being the port of entry for the last cargo of African slaves kidnapped and brought into the United States in 1859.
The act did not hinder the domestic sale of slaves within the United States and it failed to provide a remedy for illegally trafficked Africans.

“House Speaker John Boehner’s annoyance with President Barack Obama is turning into a grudge match against the Constitution.
Boehner’s decision to invite a foreign head of government to address Congress without first consulting the sitting president has no precedent in American history. And for a simple reason. It’s unconstitutional.
clip
In contrast, the president is charged with making peace — and “peace [was] attended with intricate and secret negotiations.” So the founders placed the president in charge of meeting with foreign ministers on delicate matters requiring discretion.
The founding fathers would be horrified by Boehner’s current actions. They had a passion for checks and balances. Madison, the father of the Constitution, distrusted power in the hands of mortal men. He feared both mob and monarchical rule.”
ibid.
Outstanding essay and bang on accurate. Thank you JER!!!
Senate Democrats blocked the motion to negotiate with the House on the Homeland Security funding bill that means that John Boehner is both out of options and quickly running out of time on his Homeland Security crisis.
The final vote 47-43. Republicans were 13 votes short of the number needed to move forward.
Before the vote Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) told House Republicans that Democrats weren’t going to take part in Boehner’s charade:
SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE A HELL OF A LONG TIME AGO!…NOTHING LIKE YOUR OWN COUNTRY ALLOWING THE ENEMY TO USE HOME TURF TO COMMUNICATE…CLUSTER MUCK OF IDIOCY!
She is a subversive who is plotting with Rick Santorum, Lindsey Graham and John Barrosso to undermine President Obama.
I reported her to Nancy Pelosi today with a video to prove what she is doing. Rick Santorum blew her cover on Friday night when he was being interviewed at CPAC. He revealed that she has been meeting with them to form a ” PR ” campaign against how PBO is dealing with ISIL.
I have been complaining about her for several weeks now… she keeps popping up on most of the cable shows . 8 times in the past 3 weeks.
She is trouble….plus she is a liar….she has been caught lying more than once.
As long as she is willing to say something controversial or negative toward PBO then CNN will continue to invite her on their shows. Thanks for the alert about this woman. I’ll be keeping an eye on her!
I think some may. I think a message needs to be sent to Boehner that he went over the line with this shenanigans. However, whether we like it or not, Bibi is the head of state of a major ally of ours and I think, as such, he deserves some respect. I know people here would be upset if PBO visited, say, Germany, and all the members of one of the opposition parties chose not to attend.
Where Boehner made his mistake is that he thinks he is using Bibi for his own purposes, while in reality Bibi is using Boehner. Boehner will get nothing out of this, Bibi might.
No matter what we think of him, he is an astute politician and knows the temper of the Israeli voter. All he needs to do is up Likud’s vote by a couple % and he stays in power. He feels, and he may be correct, that this will do it. He knows perfectly well that he is not going to influence enough people to put an end to the talks or any possible agreement. But he gets to pound his chest and “stand up” to PBO, and just like here, there is a large group of voters in Israel that will respond positively to that.
The difference is that PBO would NEVER undermine the people of Germany and go to that country without informing the Chancellor. If he did such a thing I believe that he would understand that he would be addressing them at the risk of opposition. What Boehner did here is unprecedented and trumps any respect for any head of state that would be willing to take part in such an egregious act.

There is no excuse or equivalence for this period. It’s treason.
” I know people here would be upset if PBO visited, say, Germany, and all the members of one of the opposition parties chose not to attend.”
False equivalence.
In addition to the atrocities that Bibi inflicted last year on the Palestinian people, Bibi conspired with Boehner to deliberately deceive the WH in order to poke a finger in the eye of POTUS and scuttle talks.
POTUS would never put himself in that situation.
Bibi deserves nothing from the USA in fact, taxpayers should not be forced to fund Bibi’s wars.
President Obama would never visit another nation under similar circumstances so there would be no reason for one political party to boycott the visit.
Bibi - I believe is Prime Minister & head of government - which in a parliamentary system is different to head of state. In the US PBO is both. In Israel there is also a President who is the nominal head of state - but he has little political power.
All the democrats need To skip the speech period. I don’t understand why this is such a hard call. Borhner had no business inviting Netanyahu He did an end run around President Obama . Why are they letting him get away with it?
He and the Koch brothers are going to run those ads against them whether they go or not. That’s the obvious dirty little fact that only our Dems in Congress don’t seem to realize.
Spot on Linda & Donna. Dems are cowards for not standing with President Obama on this. F’ning disgusting.
The way I see it: Disregard basic respect for a Black Pres. + Disregard the Black Vote = Democratic Losses all across the board in 2016 & beyond. They’ve earned it.
If this was a repub president and Nancy Pelosi had done the same thing Boehner did the repubs would be raising hell at not one of them would go to the speech.
Whichever, whatever. Japa, do you honestly think I paid close attention to this? I was gobsmacked to sit in the medical lab awaiting my turn to be tested last Thursday (day after the ‘story’ broke in the village here) to see the story featured as one of the ‘news’ item on the local channel. I rolled my eyes that with our global connectivity no one is immune to the stupidity that comprises ‘the news’! OTH, I did feel proud of our reporters in the village since these days I am invariably a day or two ahead of our ‘local’ news.:grin:
I remember when President Obama eloquently spoke to the young people of Israel.
In essence He called for them to be the one to make that change. I am praying that they help vote this ” nut job” out of office.
He comes here in total disrespect begging for money to fight his wars. His arrogance is on the same level as Putin. How dare you disrespect the President of the country you are begging 30 million dollars. Our tax money. Our young men and women will be asked to fight your delusional war.
He does not want peace.
Those who are loyal to Israel, I understand that. I get that.
But there were Germans who were loyal to Germany and somehow it all got cloudy and we know the outcome. Southerners who proudly fly the confederate flag are loyal to the “south rising again.”
We must not allow our loyalty to state or country be pimped or manipulated by arrogant egotistical madmen who do not know or care to know their era is over. While being fixated on becoming a legacy they become blinded by the fact that peace is always an option.
To the Dems. who want to be entertained by attending this ” nut job’s” and condoning this all out disrespect to this country. All I can say is,
GO TO HELL!
To ease some of my frustration with Bibi and *his* democrats, here are a few of the tweets I sent. Nobody may read them, but I felt better after freeing my system of the bile I feel towards those who do not choose to actively stand with the president.
.@TylerCullis @Kat4Obama: Clearly @Netanyahu lacks integrity (tho not effrontery) disparaging the man to whose household he comes begging.

Indeed. They should have risen up as one Congress to deny Boehner this chance to insult the country and it’s President - Republican AND Democrat. Now that Netanyahu is in the country and claiming to be living history it’s too late for them to come running home. They infuriate me.
If any Democratic Speaker had done a Republican President like what Boehner did to this President, can you just imagine Fox and right wing racists radio and MSM would be saying?

The President says that Netanyahu is a distraction…..
reminds me of this video…
It is a distraction… so that no one pays attention to Boehner and how he is bad at his job!
I LOVE THIS VIDEO…AS FOR BIBI…’B’ IS ALSO FOR BOOMERANG…BIBI BOOMERANG BOING!
You’re an inspiration, Prettyfoot :-)
as you are to me
“House Speaker John Boehner’s annoyance with President Barack Obama is turning into a grudge match against the Constitution.
Thank you JER!!!
it is incredible…something that the MSM should be informing the citizens of America…something that the Dems should be exposing…
something that those who tweet and facebook should be sending out as fast as fingers can type.
Thanks JER for posting this!
You are welcome, GGail.
You are welcome, Bobfr.

Not everyone voted…..
Awesome!
It is about darn TIME!
SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE A HELL OF A LONG TIME AGO!…NOTHING LIKE YOUR OWN COUNTRY ALLOWING THE ENEMY TO USE HOME TURF TO COMMUNICATE…CLUSTER MUCK OF IDIOCY!
Who is this Tulsi Gabbard woman? She is really annoying.
She just was on CNN. She sounds like she has a problem with whatever President Obama does. How did she get elected.
She is big trouble. There is talk of her hiring a cult member as her office manager.
Some cult in Hawaii she is connected to.
CNN again ? I have contacted them at least 4 times about her…
As long as she is willing to say something controversial or negative toward PBO then CNN will continue to invite her on their shows. Thanks for the alert about this woman. I’ll be keeping an eye on her!
She definitely is a problem.
the number is 55 now…55 are boycotting the speech
sorry..it is 53
But earlier it was 34. It is growing. And I have a hunch it will get larger, and if Bibi says anything anti-Obama, others will walk out.
I am not as upset as some about Dems being there. I think some presence is necessary, but the more that don’t show up, the better.
hello japa…why is some presence necessary…do you think folks will actually walk out…
I think some may.
Boehner will get nothing out of this, Bibi might.
what might Netanyahu get….
Oh, I agree, he never would.

^^Thank You Donna.
Japa, I respectfully disagree with you on this & would suggest you read this:http://conservativecorporatism.blogspot.com/2015/03/gop-big-fed-govt-role-of-partisan.html?showComment=1425318594529
In Israel there is also a President who is the nominal head of state - but he has little political power.
h/t JER
I LOVE DR. RICE…SHE VERBALLY STOMPED ON SEVERAL SILK TIE COCKROACHES TODAY…GREAT SHOES AMBASSADOR!!!!
All the democrats need To skip the speech period. I don’t understand why this is such a hard call. Borhner had no business inviting Netanyahu He did an end run around President Obama . Why are they letting him get away with it?
Because all they care about is being re-elected . They don’t want Sheldon Adelson running ads against them. They are cowards.
Walter Jones-R North Carolina will not be attending Bibi’s address to Congress.
He is the first Republican to do so.
According to the way the GOP says things, this means there is bipartisan opposition to the speech.
Good evening Chips & TOD! :)
Eeeeeeevening Hopefruit!!
If this was a repub president and Nancy Pelosi had done the same thing Boehner did the repubs would be raising hell at not one of them would go to the speech.
Without a doubt Debra. If this was a White President in general…you wouldn’t hear the last of it. There would be no debate.
DR. RICE WAS EXCELLENT AT AIPAC…CAN YOU PUT THAT UP..???..:)…DOUBLY AWESOME SPEECH!
So the Rep has a sidepiece and she wants to pay him with taxpayer dollars. Gee. Where have I read this before?
She’s a liar & a fraud. Yet the media protects her.
I don’t trust her.
White and gold.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOH STOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOP! IT’S WHITE AND GOLD!!!!!!!
‘Tis not.
Where did you two get ‘gold’? The bird is clearly b-l-u-e and white. /smh/
Are you even aware of the dress controversy?
:)
blue and gold vs white and gold, or the opposite of what PBO chose, ;) ;)
Hi, J! :) :) I do try to keep up once work is over. They are keeping me busy this month, I think.
Actually black and blue vs white and gold.
OTH, I did feel proud of our reporters in the village since these days I am invariably a day or two ahead of our ‘local’ news.

Exactly!!
“To the Dems. who want to be entertained by attending this ” nut job’s” and condoning this all out disrespect to this country. All I can say is,
GO TO HELL!”
Say it again!!
Chips it seems she has had a change of heart.
Oh wow Donna, that’s some turnaround - wonder how she’ll explain it?
There is a growing group of folks deciding at the last minute not to show. I think they are hearing it from their constituents.
That’s probably it Japa - I wish they had the courage of their convictions from the start.
in that list there were folks who were on the fence …she was one of those people….i guess she got pushed as japa said
Indeed. They should have risen up as one Congress to deny Boehner this chance to insult the country and it’s President - Republican AND Democrat. Now that Netanyahu is in the country and claiming to be living history it’s too late for them to come running home. They infuriate me.
Pleased to see that - hopefully there are many more to join her.
Good for Senator Warren.
New post.
http://theobamadiary.com/2015/03/02/a-tweet-or-two-251/
by tomorrow, we will know a lt about many of the elected officials
If any Democratic Speaker had done a Republican President like what Boehner did to this President, can you just imagine Fox and right wing racists radio and MSM would be saying?
Exactly Bella!! It gets even deeper when you consider the role that race plays in this.
