Thanks, GGail. A big surprise for me. I am enjoying my temporary access to the computer because my daughter took the week-end off from her work. Did you go out and enjoy the fabulous weather today?

Yes, it was a beautiful Palm Sunday. I’m happy to see that your daughter was thoughtful and shared the computer this weekend, enjoy!

Thanks, 99ts! Congrats on the big cricket win. I feel bad because my niece’s husband is from New Zealand. Naturally, I was rooting for their team. Actually, my family was deeply divided because my dear nephew and his family spent 25 years in Australia and they were rooting for your team. He called me last night from New York to gloat!

It’s nice to win but the best thing about this series was some amazing games - in that regard the final was something of a letdown.

Sorry it was a let down. I was rooting against you, but I actually never watched the game because I no longer have cable.

Thanks so much Judith. It’s indeed a pleasure to share top spot with the great GGail. How is Portland? Although I’ve been gone for a long time, I still treasure the lovely time I spent in Oregon: four years in Portland and two years in Eugene.

        March 29, 2025 at 8:44 pm

Nath, you would not believe how gorgeous Portland has been this winter into spring. We went on a walk today in Tryon Creek Park and saw trillium, California poppies, and lots of other blooming trees and flowers. I almost feel guilty since so much of the rest of the country has been suffering from either drought like you Californians or freezing cold and snow in the Northeast.

I thought Governor O’Malley was supposed to be an alternative to Hillary. If he thinks the way to succeed is to bash President Obama he suffers from poor advisors and poor judgment. To think that a governor of a small state has the temerity to call the President’s foreign policy a failure is astounding.

      1. I cracked up when I saw the picture, because I could imagine your mom letting out a big yell. LOL.

      2. You’re welcome, Chiparoooooooooooooooooireland.

      3. 1-1. Hmmmm….is that your Man United gets 1-1 and you claim a win or is it a legitimate win because Ireland has more points?

      • March 29, 2025 at 8:35 pm

        1. The last video she saw of PBO galloping down AF1 steps, she just said: “Ah Jeeeeeeeeeeesus!1!1!’

        2. Thank you Nerdyaroo!!!!!

        3. Oh, okay, it is my sort of Man United 1-1 victory - but the Ireesh equalizer came in injury time, so it’s totally morally a victory - and Poland, Germany and Scotland are about to be swept away

I know I posted a video of this before but it was pretty late at night and I’m not sure if anyone watched it. It’s sad that the media hardly reports what’s going on in Israel besides pretty much white washing everything.

    Please read this, everyone ….

    The world is ignoring Netanyahu
To ensure that the national, religious or private demon of a single person or couple will not send Israel to oblivion, a completely different leadership is necessary here.
    By Amir Oren | Mar. 30, 2015 | 3:35 AM

    clip

“The crux of the matter is not the leader’s political platform, but his character and personality. If he is arrogant, yet squashable, the damage is particularly harsh.

The testimonies heard last week in the case against Netanyahu and others by Meni Naftali, the ex-chief caretaker of the prime minister’s residence, were illuminating. The residence, which should be a prime example of labor relations in a country that brags about closing income gaps, was a sign of polarization and alienation between masters and servants. The latter – to whom most of Netanyahu’s voting pool belongs, until they get to know him – are held in the rickety, dependent status of contract workers. If they dare complain about the harm to their rights, they will be crushed by the steamroller that carries out his words, like an attorney defending a rape suspect by trying to prove that the victim is a wanton seductress while their client is a virtuous hermit.

When Squadron Leader Robert Lee Scott, Jr. described his World War II battle antics in his book “God is my Copilot,” nobody imagined that a copilot could take out his captain and 144 passengers and be revealed as the Devil.

A government, in essence, is no different from a machine flown by a person who is liable to go crazy. Tight supervision by a responsible team is required, of the type that prevented Netanyahu from taking off for Tehran. It would be a delusion to suffice, like in U.S. nuclear submarines, with two keys, because the deputy is liable to be too weak – or the source of evil itself.”

I want the loud voices that have been raised in defense of equality to be just as loud against Voter Suppression…These draconian laws are enacted by legislators who were elected into office…we must see the connection…

    • 110 nathkatun7
      March 29, 2025 at 11:40 pm

I am with you, PF! These voter suppression laws, which have been given a green light by the majority right wingers on the U.S. Supreme Court, are a 21st century version of the disfranchisement laws enacted by former confederate sates following the overthrow of Reconstruction and the triumph of white supremacy. Just as white supremacists in South Carolina, Mississippi, etc., realized that they couldn’t restore, and sustain, white supremacy, so long as African Americans were free to exercise their right to vote; today’s white supremacist Republicans also realize that they can’t maintain white supremacy so long as Blacks, Latinos, and young people of all races who are not racist, are allowed to vote without any restrictions. As far as I am concerned, voter IDs requirements are the 21st century version of the Jim Crow era Poll-tax and Literacy requirements. On the surface they appear to be color-blind, but in reality they are aimed at disfranchising a great many poor Blacks, poor Latinos, and young college students of all races. Sadly, very few people know the history of the overthrow of Reconstruction after the Civil War and the “Triumph of White Supremacy,” which ushered in the “Jim Crow” era.

thank you for you commentary Nath…i believe that the reason why there is very little outrage is because of the systemic nature of racism…disenfranchising blk folks is as American as apple pie…The GOP and the forces that they represent have waged a coordinated attack against workers’ rights…women’s rights…etc…you would think that the DEMs would be waging a coordinated counter attack around these Middle Class issues…but they are not…one has to wonder why…and then you have the two Dem candidates who will be running for the Presidency attack the President who has accomplished so very much for the middle class…what is wrong with this picture.
