Evening everyone.
:star: for you!
Thanks MP!
Congrats cd4biden on #1! :)
Thanks hopefruit. :-)
Congrats cd4biden on First :-)
Thank you GGail :-)

Hey, this post didn’t want to load for me!
Hi, everybody. Hi first place entrant!
Hi back VC!
:D (giving a royal wave)
* Elbow, Elbow, Wrist, Wrist, Wrist
And very little effort. That’s it! :D
Vc, the tweets won’t load on my iPhone. Going into overload 😳
I’m on my laptop and loading this one took longer that recent posts. /shrug/ I don’t see why because the content isn’t any longer than posts we’ve had before, but who knows with WordP? You’d best switch to your laptop, I guess.
I’m now on my Mac and it loaded quicker :-)
:)
Amazing Tweets NW, as you always continue to bring us. Thank you.
My heart is totally overwhelmed by the drawings by Shirin Barghi in the MIC Tweet about BLM victims’ last words. So very powerful.
You’re welcome, cd4biden.
This is freaking awesome! My college roommate (Clay’s) Dad:
‘CONWAY, S.C. — Cliff Ellis’ resume includes 770 victories and 10 appearances in the NCAA Tournament, and the veteran coach says watching the flag go up at the U.S. Embassy in Cuba for the first time since 1961 is one of his most memorable experiences. Ellis and Coastal Carolina were the first American college team to tour the island nation since the United States eased relations with Cuba this summer. The team got a chance to view history on their final day of the tour last Friday, first content to watch outside the gates before being invited inside. Ellis said tears welling up in his eyes “became a trickle down my face,” with three Marines who lowered the American flag in 1961 on hand to watch it rise up again last week. “This was a life changer,” Ellis said Tuesday. “I told the team, this is bigger than anything you’ll do in basketball.”
…Ellis and the Chanticleers said they discovered a warm, welcoming group of people eager to show their support for their American neighbors. Ellis said he had tears in his eyes when the anthems were played before the opening game against the Cuban national team and gifts were exchanged; Coastal giving the Cubans polo shirts and hats with the school logo, plus 40 basketballs, and the Chanticleers receiving Cuban flag lapel pins. After the games with the national team, Coastal Carolina coaches taught the game to Havana coaches and the Chants players held basketball clinics for children. “Teaching Cuban kids the game of basketball made me feel great and hopefully they felt the same way,” freshman center Josh Coleman said. “It puts a smile on my face to give to the less fortunate people, who I found to be very nice and chill, an opportunity that they will never forget.”….Guard Jaylen Shaw of Hartsville felt blessed for the opportunity to learn about a different culture and people. “At first we were all nervous,” he said. “But being around them and seeing they’re just like us and just being with them and them showing us love, it was just all good.” Ellis, who has a piece of the Berlin Wall, said he would gladly return to the island whenever possible. “This was maybe as big a moment as I’ve had in college basketball,” he said.’
Mr. Ellis is clearly one of the very good people - Auburn should be very proud of him beyond his excellence at basketball;
I am happy for the team of young men who were able to have this one-in-a-lifetime experience of common humanity;
GE, Global. I used to be very intimidated of him…he had a very deep voice and was always so serious, but he was really cool to Clay’s friends letting us travel with the B-ball team to tournaments and we would get to stay with team at (The Ritz-Carlton or W hotels) …places I would never drop $500/night on in real life…we also had the best seats behind the bench! Unfortunately, he got fired from Auburn a while ago and has been coaching at Coastal Carolina ever since. (Auburn hasn’t been back to the NCAA tournament since he was coaching there)…deep down he was a cool cat & I still talk to Clay on occasion. This is Coach Ellis’s band
S/N Another reason I hate Ohio State…the last time Auburn was in the tourney they were a #1 seed and lost to the Buckeyes in the sweet 16 (this is when Scoonie Penn & Michael Red played for them) ….we got robbed by the refs…they only called one foul on OSU the entire 2nd half…I’m still salty about that game!
Good evening, TOD!
Demi Moore ain’t got nothing on them
Airway Heights mayor resigning after uproar over Obama comments. Mayor Patrick Rushing compared the President and First Lady to monkeys.Well all I can say is racists bigots like him need to go. I’m glad the people didn’t stand for his racism.
Very informative slate of tweets this evening. Thank you, Nerdy.
In not a surprise to anybody here, Bob Menendez voting No got lots of coverage. Big news.
If Senators Hirono, Reed and Whitehouse got any mention at all on TV, I didn’t hear it. Linda??
You’re welcome, Vicki.
the last words tweet and story is heartbreaking. not one of those people should be dead.
Sadly, there are still hundreds of thousands of women who dismiss this hard earned right and don’t bother to vote or even stir themselves to find out what’s at stake in an election. I’ve heard the “I don’t vote” comment far too many times from women who simply can’t be bothered to exercise the power that other women worked so hard to achieve for them. It makes always me angry to see such a precious right thrown away.
Congrats cd4biden :)
Another great set of tweets, NW!!! Thank you!!!
It is sad that he managed to fool so many people for far too long……and now, NJ is paying a hefty price.
I assume they are paying his court costs as well
Thanks Bobfr. Love this tweet Christie chickens comin’ home to roost. :-)
I wonder who’s paying for all these court battles? Somehow, I don’t think it’s Christie himself. The people of New Jersey got snookered in too many ways to count when they voted this clown into office. I’m very glad his presidential campaign is floundering. His FU attitude is eclipsed by an even bigger loudmouth.
You’re welcome, Bob.
Sometime between now and Monday, 24 Aug., he (and the world) will know the verdict ….
Excellent Newsy Tweets, NW. Thank you.
Congrats cd4biden on your Au :star:
You’re welcome, Nena.
Thank you, Nena.
reading what republican candidates, especially Trump, are saying about the Iran deal, makes me realize how much damage
oups… how much “damaged” is the republican party. They are incompetent fools. Or opportunistic liars.
It’s not normal. The presidential candidates of a big national party should offer a minimum of competence. A minimum capacity to understand/explain how things work IN THE REAL WORLD.
This is scary. Really. My goodness, George W. Bush was almost sane in comparison.
I’m kind of hoping they keep talking…maybe, just maybe, people will get their asses to the polls and vote for a change. This batch of scary Republicans can not get near anything to do with govt of/by/for the people…
I concur with both of you. I hope and pray that the majority of those that voted for POTUS twice will come out and “fire” the GOP nominee, whoever s/he is. These crops of people should not be near 1600 Pennsylvania. Not now. Never.
As for The Donald, I refrain saying in writing what I think of him. Let’s simply say that The Donald is a Birther.
I, too, am waiting. I want the GOP party to, actually, agree. Openly and forcefully.
Hope he’s not going to hold his breath….
Isn’t this the guy that was a tad bit snarky when he interviewed President Obama? Wonder how he likes him now?!!
WordP, I find it hard to believe nobody has said a word since Df at 11:03pm. I’m going to read a chapter in my book. Toodle-di-doo!
Interesting analysis.
Let me guess… those “plans” have been written by lobbyists of insurance companies. The objective: less regulation and more profit.
And the more vulnerable, poor people, people with big health problems, will be screwed. Again.
Americans won’t fall for this.
Nerdy W., thank you for all that you do for all of the TOD family. {{{{{{{{{{{{{{TY, NW}}}}}}}}}}}}HZ
Thank you so much, HZ.
As always, NW, a great post with informative tweets.
Thanks, Bill.
h/t JER & df :)
good night TOD
Good Morning TODVille.
Happy hump day!
Climate change…
The NY Times is reporting that POTUS has authorized 1,300 health clinics in under-served areas of 46 states plus Puerto Rico and DC. The news is in a confusing editorial that involves extension of funding to existing clinics as well as authorizing some new ones.
This is another BIG Win for Obamacare and it is sure to include many people who were hitherto uncared for.
No wonder the Times piece is confusing.
The editorial is titled A Part of Obamacare the GOP Can Love. Maybe somebody here can put it in plain language. Without mentioning the GOP, for instance. Like they can or will like anything that helps ordinary Americans.
Rise and Shine, TOD!
