Jordan Fabian: White House Announces $79M To Clear Rape Kit Backlog

The Obama administration announced Thursday its teaming up with the New York City district attorney on a $79 million effort to speed testing of sexual assault evidence kits. The federal government will kick in $41 million in grants while New York will provide $38 million to clear a backlog of untested kits in 27 states. “When we solve these cases, we get rapists off the streets,” Vice President Biden said in a statement. “The grants we’re announcing today to reduce the national rape kit backlog will bring that sense of closure and safety to victims while improving community safety.” The rape kit backlog is a major issue for law enforcement and women’s groups.

Good morning Nerdy. Leave it to our President to take care of women.

This, Nerdy, is one of six billion reasons why President Obama’s successor must share his heart and compassion. Joe Biden “knows” what it’s like for people to feel powerless, angry and ashamed and he has little patience for hypocrites. His background on women’s issues would by itself qualify him to be president.

World leaders must shake their heads in wonder at the stupidity of those who hold the majority in the US Congress. They must look at our President and look at elected ‘leaders’ in the Congress and whether the US electorate loses its collective mind in mid-term elections.

    Hi again, TOD.
Today is (D) local election day and i voted at the same time I always vote. Same time and place for a decade plus.
This gives me a pretty good baseline idea of turnout.
Today, with the help of a pleasant woman at the scanning machines, I got a tally of how may votes were registered by 1:00. Under 100.
This is a tiny fraction of the usual off-season or mid-term votes.

To me this is the canary in the coalmine if ever there was one.

The RWGOP and corporate (D) have convinced us that everything is awful, why bother to vote?

Turns out Karen Tumulty’s tweet of an empty room is backed up by her story that HRC is speaking to herself today. @ktumulty.
Add to that DWS declaring that 6 debates, on weekends and the Saturday before Christmas will continue to be the plan.
As will excluding any candidate that tries to have anything resembling a debate outside of the 6 on the schedule.

I’m not seeing any optimistic possible interpretation of these events.

With this article the difference between Obamacrats and Republicans can not be made more stark. That crazy Davis lady celebrating her weekend in jail with losers like Huckabee is all about denying people rights and putting people down. Our pres and VP joe just keep on working to make this country a better place, without needing to rip off eye of the tiger like they just won some stupid contest.

No matter what happens in 2016, the president, VP and their supporters have done what could be done in ways big and small to move this country forward to a better place. That is something the GOP/MSM will never be able to take away, no matter how many idiots they trot out there.
