hey, hugs!

First Lady Michelle Obama visits students at Ballou High School in Washington, March 30

Politic365: First Lady Michelle Obama and some of the most powerful women across a variety of endeavors will fan out this week across Washington, D.C. area schools to promote mentoring for young people.

On Wednesday, March 30, Mrs. Obama and 22 guest mentors will split up to visit six high schools in Greater Washington. At each location, some of the featured women will participate in a Q&A session and share their personal and career experiences with students. The school-based events area open to all students, but will have a specific focus on mentoring for young women.

Later in the evening, the First Lady will host the guest mentors and 120 additional students for dinner and a program in the East Room of the White House.

See here for the list of guest mentors for Wednesday’s events

Actress Hilary Swank, actress Anna Deveare Smith and Israeli violinist Miri Ben-Ari pose with students at Eastern High School in Washington. Swank joined the prominent women to promote, along with US First Lady Michelle Obama, mentoring by successful women as part of Women’s History Month at the White House.

This is really fabulous.. as a woman, I’m so glad to see this sort of thing.. and it doesn’t surprise me even a little that our gracious First Lady would be heading it off. And what beautiful pictures, I love that last one the most.. so perfect.

Indeed, she is a winner. Her warmth just saturates my soul. She and PBO are both so real. It is truly wonderful, and I love the idea of the program.

Ah ha…..what, no Sarah Palin, no Michelle Bachman? Out of all those on the list, ya mean these 2 aren’t role models? Now, doesn’t that tell ya something? LOL

I love to see her with the young people also. It is also so wonderful that so many of the women were involved in the First Lady’s Mentoring program. Thanks so much for this follow-up Chipsticks. Someone was complaining about why our First Lady does not do something else besides the Gardening etc… …. and I just yelled at the tv and threw my book in the process and said, “You just do not know!” So this is wonderful that you shared this on this wonderful site, Chipsticks. I like the positive attitude. This reminds me of my 36 years spent with the young people, teaching, sharing knowledge, dancing, and sharing how they can do great things in their corners or the world. Just brighten up the corner where you are in life. Surely, many can take a lesson from this First Lady also. We are very blessed to have such a beautiful FLOTUS.

She also did this last year (I think it was last year). Remember, she had Debbie Allen, Phylisha(sp?) Rashad, and other famous/well-known women, fan out to the schools in the DC area to speak to students after meeting at the whitehouse with some of the young people from the area.

HZ….These people who asked that question why our First Lady doesn’t do something else beside gardening, were they the haters? Because our wonderful First Lady does alot of things, like working with the military families, her other project, Let’s move. What else do they want her to do, fine the cure for cancer. Let’s not forget, her number one, most important by millions of miles is to be a Mother to her two young girls. She’s the First Lady yes, but she is also the mother of a 12 and 9 year old who needs her attention. Our First Lady is just wonderful, that’s my opinion.
