Hey COS, I venture to say it means OBAMA WON, as in he will keep on winning, if the lesser of us have anything to say about it!
I guess it could mean a few different things especially from that … eh…. governor (wanted to cuss but thought better). However, to me it means number one, the best, one MORE term etc. I can only guess that Snott Walker may have had other ideas. You are so right though Cos, he is a hypocrite. Isn’t it so absurd to hear MSM pundits repeat this lie, over and over again? How many presidents or presidential candidate, other than President Obama, routinely hear shouts of ” We love you” or, “I love you” from their audiences? I don’t even recall Bill Clinton getting the kind of genuine expressions of love that President Obama gets from many people who show up to listen to him. I love the fact that President Obama always responds with: ” I love you back” every time some one in the audience shouts that they love him. Yet, the MSM pundits insist on programing us to believe that “POTUS can’t relate to the masses.” What they really mean is that POTUS does not spend much time socializing with the elite in the media.

Romney is still railing against the auto bailouts, long after his famous “Let Detroit Go Bankrupt” op-ed. The Economist pushes back:
Free-marketeers that we are, The Economist agreed with Mr Romney at the time. But we later apologised for that position. “Had the government not stepped in, GM might have restructured under normal bankruptcy procedures, without putting public money at risk”, we said. But “given the panic that gripped private purse-strings…it is more likely that GM would have been liquidated, sending a cascade of destruction through the supply chain on which its rivals, too, depended.” Even Ford, which avoided bankruptcy, feared the industry would collapse if GM went down. At the time that seemed like a real possibility. The credit markets were bone-dry, making the privately financed bankruptcy that Mr Romney favoured improbable. He conveniently ignores this bit of history in claiming to have been right all along.
Because he’ll say anything. He’s beginning to make Bill Clinton look like a pillar of honesty and candor. I too opposed the bailouts for the same reason as The Economist. And like its editors, I walked back my position after the amazing results came in.

Thank you Economist. This will be good reference to have when campaigning. I am going to put it in my ‘handy folder’ that I keep. Found it very helpful in 2008 when I was doing phone calling to have a couple of really good bullet points with back-up for phone calls where someone really wanted to talk about a subject.

Well, I can say in New Zealand, not many people would know who many of the Republicans are lol Most would only remember George ‘Dubya’ Bush very well for many of his failures, especially the ‘show throwing’ incident.
Willard Romney, Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum would be known to some because of this years Presidential Elections… but only just slightly because of maybe 30 seconds worth of air time they might get making it onto our local news stations here.. but that could be once in a blue moon.
Other times Republicans tend to only make the news here, is when they make gaffes or do something really REALLY stupid and full-blown crazy! I don’t think Republicans have ever made it onto our news for anything ‘good’ since PBO has been President. They have pretty much been seen as obstructionists and partisan, not capable of comprising for the good of the American people. Analysts, Anchors, Contributors etc would be bullies compared to what we have here LOL The whole thing with MSNBC vs FOX and their hatred for each other.. you would never see that on our 2 news stations here (our 2 news channels times are like 6am-8:30am, then again in the afternoon as an update at 12pm-12:30pm and then in the evening when people finish work so at 6pm-7pm and then they have one for those late shift-workers who may finish after 9/10pm, that update news is from 11pm-11:30pm.)
NZ people don’t really get into American politics and possibly a majority don’t care for it because obviously we have our own P.M and Politics happening here and we get caught up in our own issues, but from what I’ve come to know.. is that they like President Obama and don’t understand the extremism of right wing politics or personal hatred for him. We have a “Republican” a.k.a what we call “National” run government here in NZ…… but boy our Prime Minister would be run out of the party if he had a House/Senate like the GOP there

Here in the UK since 2008 so many more people have a positive opinion of the USA as a direct result of Barack Obama winning the Presidency. People who know that I am a big time PBO supporter have been following the republican primaries and are shocked at the calibre of the candidates. One recently said to me that he hoped that PBO won again not only because he believes that he is a great president but that the rebups scare him so much that he would even prefer GWB as prez. (He positively detested GWB!!)
President Obama has done more for the positive image of America and Americans in 3 years than any of the republican party could ever dream of achieving. I guess that’s what happens when you have the best.

Milwakee’s Sheriff cuts back on Obama visit security
On the eve of President Obama’s visit to Milwaukee’s Master Lock factory Wednesday, Clarke let it be known in the Journal Sentinel that because he lost some funding (and a bit of ego) in a budget battle with County Executive Chris Abele, the Sheriff’s department just doesn’t have the resources to fully staff the County’s end of the presidential security detail when Obama is in town.
I was wondering what was that I heard earlier.

Every point, I’d go back to George. I’d memorize every notable thing he said and rattle if off like a Republican quitting Reagan. I’d jump so far inside Mitt’s head, he’d never shake me out.

In 2008, Obama won 49 percent of men; Pew finds him with 45 percent against Romney. Against McCain, Obama won 56 percent of women; Pew finds him drawing 59 percent against Romney. Among white men, Pew finds Obama’s support slipping from 41 percent in 2008 to 36 percent now (with all of the decline coming among white men without a college degree, the toughest audience throughout his presidency.) Among white women, though, Pew finds Obama rising from 46 percent in 2008 to 52 percent against Romney—and recording gains among both college-plus women (whom he carried last time) and the working-class “waitress moms” who strongly preferred McCain.

Romney has no shame. He will say and do anything to get the nomination. I seriously think he has some daddy issues. He just wants to be president, because that office is one step up from the cabinet post his father held.
There Mitt goes again, flip flopping.
Three comments on the speech.
First, I was pleased that he brought up unions, noting this is a union shop, and that companies can be succesful when they are unionized.
Secondly, and I am noticing him doing this more and more, talking about how the values that he mentions are not Democratic values or Republican values, they are American values. This is a very subtle slap at the current Republican party and especially the rich overlords, who quite obviously don’t have these same values. Unlike the Bush adminsitration, which had no difficulty coming right out and calling people who disagreed with them unAmerican, he leaves it up to the listener to decide the issue.
Finally, you can tell he is ready to use the same meme he used in 2010, of “you don’t want to give the keys back to the people who drove you in the ditch to begin with.” This is way of saying, you didn’t listen to me before and look what happened, especially in places like Wisconsin. MAybe you will listen to me now. He is too graceful to say “I told you so” but I think this will become another of the main themes this year.
Yes - I noticed that comment about keeping our foot on the gas. It reminded me of the car keys story, too. Good insight on the other points.

Republican fundraiser on Mitt Romney’s problem: ‘You run out of people you can hit up for $2,500′

BuzzFeed’s Zeke Miller takes a look at a provocative question: is Mitt Romney’s campaign on the verge of facing a cash crunch? Romney’s campaign says everything is fine, pointing to recent fundraisers and a $1.3 million ad buy in Michigan, but Miller talks with several anonymous Republican fundraisers in New York who say Romney has a problem.
At the core of it? Romney’s fundraising is extremely top heavy, relying overwhelmingly on big dollar contributors. Unlike President Obama, just 9% of Mitt Romney’s financial support comes from small donors. A campaign can always resolicit small donors, but big donors are limited to $2,500—and as one Republican fundraiser told Miller: “You run out of people you can hit up for $2,500.”
According to Miller, another GOP fundraiser said Romney is “tapping out” the donor network in big cities, where donors feel it is “embarrassing” to ask for money to help Romney beat Santorum given that (in their view) Santorum should be so easy to beat. Ultimately, the problem may come down to the simple fact that Mitt Romney is running a lackluster campaign. As another Republican fundraiser told Miller, Romney is “a Republican John Kerry running Hillary Clinton’s campaign.”

Somehow, this doesn’t ring true. Romney’s got several million he can pump into his own campaign, he’s got the media and establishment that are still crossing their fingers that the base will fall in love with him, he’s got the SuperPACs - which have no limits. I don’t buy this article for a minute, and I think they’re just trying to make him the underdog.
I’m wondering, Theo, is this isn’t more of a psychological running out of money than a real one. It’s unlikely anyone expected that the primary would need to expend so many tens of millions of dollars knocking out Mitt’s opponents, especially an opponent as flawed as Newt. Now he’s going to need more big bucks for Santorum and he still hasn’t locked up the nomination. He was supposed to be the inevitable one. The nomination race was never expected to be this bruising. I have heard that Romney is a very prudent, parsimonious man and is very unlikely to spend big sums of his own money on his campaign while its still possible to get a dime from someone else. And he’s still got a general election to fund that’s going to require mega bucks. Sure the SuperPacs can collect big anonymous contributions, but I’ll bet these are mostly the same sources being tapped for the official primary campaign.
I’m wondering if they’re trying to find an easy excuse for not running an all-out negative campaign against Santorum. I heard Mitt was advised at CPAC to be careful with the negativity towards Santorum, because he’ll likely need him later to rally the so-called “Christians”. I think they’re trying to start a narrative that Romney needs to conserve funds, so he’s not going to attack Santorum like he did to Newt. Granted, I’m paranoid when it comes to the GOP and their deceptive ways.

Lots of folks calling into Rev Al’s show stating what $40.00 loss would mean to them. Very engaged. Now a caller and guest stating how internal criticism from the left wasted 3 years of valuable time and support that PBO now has to work extra hard at to re-coup. In other words, they were stupid and damaging. This we all know, so thank God there are so many new supporters to take up the slack from the cynics of the so-called left. I say, left of what?

President Obama Up Big In Michigan!
Michigan is looking more and more like it won’t be in the swing state column this fall. PPP’s newest poll there finds Barack Obama leading the entire Republican field by double digits.
The biggest surprise in the numbers might be how badly Obama is beating Mitt Romney- he leads him by 16 points at 54-38. That’s a major departure from PPP’s previous 3 Michigan President polls, which found Obama ahead by only 4-7 points.

Could it be that in 2010 the results of the bail-out were still modest? I mean… Things were getting better but not fast enough so people in Michigan were still very nervous? Now the auto companies have called back thousand of workers, GM is #1, people really feel a big change, etc… NOW it’s obvious that the bail-out was a success and people reward President Obama for this success.

Fox ‘course correction’ rankles some

As a white, male, middle-aged conservative talk radio host from Virginia, John Fredericks is something close to the Platonic ideal of a Fox News fan.
And until last year, he was one. But then Fox’s treatment of the Republican primary race — the presentation of Karl Rove as a political analyst despite his having “thrown in for Romney” and Sean Hannity’s clear ties to the Republican establishment — began to grate on him. So he changed the channel.
“I’ve gone from all Fox to no Fox, and replaced it with CNN, which I think right now is giving me a much fairer analysis of what’s going on,” he said. “I feel they’ve lost that independent conservative mantra that had drove people like me to them. I used to feel that I got it straight, and I got an independent conservative view. Now, what I get is some wholly owned subsidiary of the RNC [Republican National Committee].”
Across the Conservative Political Action Conference this year, there were similar grumbles among conservative activists that the cable channel was no longer speaking for them as it once did.
The grumblers were picking up on a strategy that has been under way for some time — a “course correction,” as Fox chief Roger Ailes put it last fall — with the network distancing itself from the tea party cheerleading that characterized the first two years of President Barack Obama’s presidency. Lately, Fox has increasingly promoted its straight-news talent in the press and conducted some of the toughest interviews and debates of the Republican primary season. Just last week, it hired the openly gay liberal activist Sally Kohn as a contributor.
All along, Fox watchers warned that it risked alienating conservative true believers as it inched toward the center.

Before the ratification of the 17th Amendment, state legislatures — not the people — elected senators. But a state Senate committee approved a bill to poll state senators on their preference for federal representation, a move that even Republican critics say undermines the popular election of U.S. senators and may be more about cronyism than good policy:
Sen. Daniel Thatcher, R-West Valley City, was absent during the vote. But he said later that he opposes the resolution taking effect this year, fearing many will see it as a move to help former state Sen. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) suggested Wednesday afternoon that recent backroom negotiations have yielded some progress on the pending surface transportation bill.
“We have made some progress in working to an end to the issues preventing us from moving forward on this bill,” said Reid from the floor. “There is enough importance in this bill to do just that.”
As has become routine in the Senate lately, senators from both parties have complicated the bill, which enjoys broad support, by offering more than 100 unrelated, controversial amendments, such as one that would repeal the Obama administration’s recent contraceptive decision, an amendment to stop foreign aid to Egypt, and another regarding abortion.
