With so much powerful stuff all over, this seems a bit light - but I just learned my very talented nephew (Katisse) in LA is the featured flute soloist in the new Minions movie. He was the soloist in the original Anchorman, but not Anchorman 2.

I can’t imagine what his parents must be going through. There is so much hope and possibility in that sweet face. To think that all that potential was destroyed in one hateful act by a murderous policeman. What have we become as a country when this kind of destruction is not only possible, but commonplace.

      • April 30, 2025 at 5:53 pm

It’s heartbreaking Jackie, especially when we see images of these young men as children and all the innocence and hope and confidence and optimism about the future.

He beautiful with his beautiful eyes. When I saw the picture of him as an adult it took me a minute because he looks so much like Sidney Poitier as a young man. So very very sad that he’s gone.

I have heard this for years. It was crystallized by example on how Netanyahu was treating president Obama. Google makes it possible to learn these facts.

Cop Who Arrested Freddie Gray Had Guns Confiscated Over Mental Health

BALTIMORE (AP) — The highest-ranking Baltimore police officer in the arrest that led to Freddie Gray’s death was hospitalized in April 2012 over mental health concerns for an unknown duration and had his guns confiscated by local sheriff’s deputies, according to records from the sheriff’s office and court obtained by The Associated Press.

Lt. Brian Rice, who initially pursued Gray on a Baltimore street when Gray fled after Rice made eye contact April 12, declared three years ago that he “could not continue to go on like this” and threatened to commit an act that was censored in the public version of a report obtained by the AP from the Carroll County, Maryland, Sheriff’s Office. Rice lived in the county, about 35 miles northwest of Baltimore. At the time, deputies were responding to a request to check on his welfare by a fellow Baltimore police officer who is the mother of Rice’s son.

Deputies reported that Rice appeared “normal and soft spoken” and said he had been seeking “sympathy and attention.” But citing “credible information,” the deputies confiscated both his official and personal guns, called his commanding officer and transported Rice to the Carroll Hospital Center. The weapons included his .40-caliber police pistol, a 9 mm handgun, an AK-47-style rifle, a .22-caliber rifle and two shotguns.

Americ 2015….UNBELIEVABLE! The head of the police and the mayor need to go. This is shocking.

‘Knowing all of this, I was still not prepared for what I saw when I arrived. The small concrete booking cells were filled with hundreds of people, most with more than ten people per cell. Three of us were sent to the women’s side where there were up to 15 women per holding cell. Most of them had been there since Monday afternoon/evening. With the exception of 3 or 4 women, the women who weren’t there for Monday’s round-ups were there for freaking curfew violations. Many had not seen a doctor or received required medication. Many had not been able to reach a family member by phone. But here is the WORST thing. Not only had these women been held for two days and two nights without any sort of formal booking, BUT ALMOST NONE OF THEM HAD ACTUALLY BEEN CHARGED WITH ANYTHING. They were brought to CBIF via paddy wagons (most without seat belts, btw-a real shocker after all that’s happened), and taken to holding cells without ever being charged with an actual crime. No offense reports. No statements of probable cause. A few women had a vague idea what they might be charged with, some because of what they had actually been involved in, and some because of what the officer said, but quite a few had no idea why they were even there. Incidentally, I interviewed no one whose potential charges would have been more serious than petty theft, and most seemed to be disorderly conduct or failure to obey, charges which would usually result in an immediate recog/release.
The holding cells are approximately 10×10 (some slightly larger), with one open sink and toilet. The women were instructed that the water was “bad” and that they shouldn’t drink it. There are no beds-just a concrete cube. No blankets or pillows. The cells were designed to hold people for a few hours, not a few days. In the one cell which housed 15 women, there wasn’t even enough room for them all to lay down at the same time. Three times a day, the guards brought each woman 4 slices of bread, a slice of american cheese and a small bag of cookies. They sometimes got juice, but water was scarce, as the CO’s had to wheel a water cooler through every so often (the regular water being “broken”.)
My fellow attorneys and I all separately heard the same sickening story over and over. None of the women really wanted to eat 4 slices of bread 3 times a day, so they were saving slices of bread TO USE AS PILLOWS. Let me say that again. THEY WERE ALL USING BREAD AS PILLOWS SO THAT THEY WOULDN’T HAVE TO LAY THEIR HEADS ON THE FILTHY CONCRETE FLOOR.”

Professional athletes have the platform to make a statement if they so choose and stand up for what they believe. That’s why New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony has taken part in the Freddie Gray protests in Baltimore.

On Thursday, Anthony—who spent part of his childhood in Baltimore—marched in the streets with the other protesters.

This whole media narrative is very interesting. Of course, it all works in favor of the cops, who will claim Mr. Gray was just fine when he was put in the van and the only thing they did wrong was not belt him in. Saw an interview today with a forensic pathologist from John Hopkins who disagrees. He stated that he believed it is most likely the injury to the vertebrae occurred from the officer kneeling on his neck during the take down, which was exacerbated by not being belted in the van. Of course, this would explain Mr. Gray’s screams of pain while he was being loaded into the van. But the officers would much prefer he was solely injured in the van which reduces their culpability. Disgusting.

      April 30, 2025 at 7:21 pm

The Cops are lying and the 98% of the TV/Cable Presenters are eager to believe them……The Narrative the Media Portrays must be maintained at all costs.
Kudos to the Lady Pint Reporter who has been tweeting The Truth. The Cops know that saturating misinformation is to their benefit for acquittal.

I have worked in a Spine Institute and that struck me as the most likely scenarios. He is not using his legs and is screaming in pain when dragged to the van. To crush the larynx and fracture 3 vertebrae and tear the cord there must have been direct compressive force such as an obese cop kneeling on his neck while he was being handcuffed.

The word here in Chicago is that it will be at the University of Chicago with the possibility of a satellite location in Hawaii. This really was the only possible scenario. The Illinois General Assembly just passed a law so that an organization called Friends of the Park couldn’t sue because the museum will be built on park land. This was the assurance that PBO needed to move forward. There will be an announcement May 11th. The south side is thrilled!
