President Barack Obama boards Marine One at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland. President Obama will spend the rest of the weekend in Camp David with the First Family
Well…still having trouble with the email on my iPhone…went to the phone store today and they told me what to do, I did it, and something is STILL wrong! Will have to tend to it tomorrow or Monday. I won’t forget you:) Promise!
Thanks for the coverage of all things Obama, NW! That selfie picture of the Obama siblings melts my heart. My husband’s birthday is today, so we have been out sampling Portland’s food offerings. He’s such a good sport that 4 years ago, he let me ditch him on his birthday to attend the 50th birthday bash for President Obama in Chicago. Good times!
A documentary that Donald Trump, the Republican frontrunner, killed 25 years ago with threats of litigation is now available for all to view on the Internet.
Trump: What’s The Deal? paints a powerful and disturbing picture of a financial Dorian Gray whose public image bears little resemblance to his conduct away from the cameras, including hiring actors for $50 each to applaud at his campaign announcement.
In public, Trump presents himself as a businessman so skilled his deals are an art form. The 80-minute documentary peels back this façade. Hidden from public view, the documentary shows Trump manipulating politicians and the criminal justice system, pocketing millions in taxpayer welfare, not paying people he hired, doing some of his biggest deals with mobsters, retaining a cocaine dealer as his helicopter pilot, and evidently benefiting from having his sister working in the Justice Department before winning appointment as a federal judge. Former advisors and employees describe furious tirades that no one, not even his family, could escape.

Happy upcoming birthday, Mr. President! So glad you’ll have a little rest and relaxation and guacamole! (I just guessed at the guacamole, of course.)
Hi, GGail - Yes, he is, thanks for asking. Doc says he’s doing well and the bio-glue fix to the tear in his chest is staying in place (they will watch it and look for signs of infection, for a few more days). He’s back to going walkabout in the corridors, and enjoyed being wheeled outside in the sunshine - twice today. Yeehaw!
Good! Pleased to hear he’s doing well with his walkabouts and wheelies. BTW, JO’B, is your son a Steve too? When I was catching up yesterday I saw more than one person refer to him as Steve and I was a bit confused because I ‘knew’ Steve as Carolyn’s son.
And last I saw, Carolyn shared that the family had a beautiful celebration of life ceremony that was very, very well-attended and son Steve was holding it together.
So glad to hear the good news, JOB. Hope he can come bounding out of that hospital soon and back into his full life. He certainly has a wonderful family in his corner.
There were many Dems who voted for the Iraq war for fear of being Termed as weak……..
The Iraq war failed.
These same people wanted war in Syria. Many advocated for strikes and some for boots on the ground in Libya.

Walker lands JOE RICKETTS, billionaire conservative whose family owns the Cubs. $5m super PAC haul: http://wpo.st/jlyS0
So tax payers subsidize sports stadiums (‘stadia’?) so billionaires can showcase their athletes, make more and more money, donate millions of it to political puppets like Walker, thus garnering for themselves more corporate welfare. Then they can continue the cycle ad infinitum. O the times (or should I say the laws) they are not a-changing fast enough!
Former President Jimmy Carter believes the United States’ campaign finance system is so broken that the country is no longer a functional democracy. He said the same problems are present in elections for “U.S. senators and congress members.?

I don’t know, Alycee. Reports of wrongdoing surface fairly often, yet Republicans never seem to be halted by them in any way (off the top of my head I think Christie, Walker, Perry…). They just go merrily along above the fray, plotting how to destroy the nation.
And in reality, today, there are over 125 GOPers who have filed papers to run for the Presidency. In total, there are over 300 from all parties running for the Presidency in 2016.
THe speaker of our parliament - who is supposed to be independent & does not have the political power of the US speaker is under attack/investigation for her “expenses” claims. “If our reforms can work in a blue state like Wisconsin, they can work anywhere in America.? But which reforms? The changes that Walker trumpets on the campaign trail—assaults on public employees, public education, public services, and unions; the rejection of federal mandates; and the remaking of economic-development programs and tax schemes to distribute wealth upward—haven’t worked any better than the failed austerity schemes in Europe. Wisconsin trails far behind neighboring states like Minnesota and the rest of the nation when it comes to job creation and economic vitality. However, the “reforms? that matter most to Walker—those that enhance his personal power and electability—have been successful enough to make him a serious contender for the Republican nomination.
The way to understand this governor begins with the recognition that, while he has always embraced Republicanism and conservatism, his primary focus is Walkerism—the advancement of Scott Walker. Don’t look for, say, a libertarian streak in this guy, or the old right’s dubiousness about military adventurism. Walker talks a good anti-government game, but he’s been on the government payroll for 22 of his 47 years. Scott Walker has spent a lifetime preparing for this presidential campaign, and everything about his record says that he will do whatever it takes to win. If he were to secure the nomination and win the presidency—and arrive in Washington with a GOP-controlled Congress—he would no longer be restructuring the politics of a medium-size state to his advantage; he would be restructuring the federal government and the nation’s future.
