Turkey’s opposition leader, Selahattin Demirtas, has accused President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of trying to exploit an ISIS suicide bombing in the southeast of the country to bolster his own power, writes Gareth Jenkins in Ankara.
Demirtas, a Kurd, said Erdogan was attempting to use the attack in Suruc last month to overturn the result of June’s general election that cost the president’s party its majority.
“Erdogan refused to accept the outcome of the election and the Suruc massacre gave him an opportunity,” said Demirtas, leader of the largely Kurdish People’s Democratic party (HDP).”

My God, I would like him to be president forever. Brains, Wisdom, Authenticity, Moral Strength, Determination and Confidence combined with empathy for others,
And, MOST OF ALL, a REFUSAL to play politics. He speaks TRUTH, unvarnished. No demagoguery. No cheap emotional appeal. But something so much deeper. He offers reason and heart at the same time.
This magnificent man is not cold AT ALL. He is serious, but passionate. A depth of heart and soul rarely seen in american politicians.
