I keep getting “out of area” phone calls that do not stay on the line long enough for me to get to the phone. I answered in time once and got an automated message. I hung up right away. I am suspecting they are fundraising calls. I will not donate this time until and if Biden gets in, but I do not want the GOP to win either.
pls be careful about those phone calls. this week, NPR had a report of where scammers were calling people’s phones to see if they was a live person at the end of the line.
once a person answered, then the phone would automatically connect to an automated message. long story .. but at the end of the phone call, these hackers who already were in possession of crucial details associated with this phone number would use it to contact your financial institution.
this confirmation would then be used in a financial scheme to rob people of all their money from their bank accounts
A guy leaving a voicemail for his boss witnesses a car crash, and the accident ends up being a million times more hilarious than your average car crash.
had a hard time stopping the loud laughter - thanks for this hook up (and for almost getting me ejected from my neighborhood because of laughing too loud)
One of my favorite videos…that shows the inner curiosity of the President…this is my favorite next to this year’s video of the lil girl scouts at the wh science fair
Tomorrow’s breakfast menu (which was supposed to be today’s, but sporting depression took hold):
Bratwurst breakfast sausages, skillet fried in butter
Skillet fried red potatoes
Scrambled eggs with just a touch of cream
Coffee or Irish breakfast tea; haven’t decided yet.
Been a long time. Just went to kos. There’s a diary up about DWS blocking the Iran resolution. Read through a lot of the comments. Not ONE positive comment about her or the job she’s doing. All negative and saying same things we say here-she needs to go and no one can understand why she isn’t already gone. One person suggested that she threatened PO with “would be because she’s a woman and also be anti-Semitic.” Will admit I had never thought of wither of those and thinking about it, doesn’t seem so far-fetched.
First of all, I can’t see DWS threatening that. (Other people on her behalf without her permission, maybe, but not her.) Secondly, I can’t see President Obama holding back on anything because of threats.
Me? I want her gone because she won’t support the President. Hasn’t, isn’t, and won’t be. If I thought she were, I’d be joining in with people fighting to keep her. I admired her for years, relating to her work as a Florida representative and loyal Democrat, and the early years as DNC Chair when she more or less swung over from HRC and supported Pres. Obama. I have no clue now to whom she’s being loyal, but it’s not him.
Agree completely, JO’B. She’s floundering around as DNC chair, pushing her own agenda, rather than the Democratic Party’s. I send emails with her name on them immediately to trash and I imagine a whole lot of others do, too. PBO has enough problems dealing with a lunatic Republican Congressional majority without having a disloyal DNC chair stabbing him in the back. I hope she drops out to spend ‘more time with her family’ in the very near future.
I don’t know how to say this without bringing a bunch of irate females on my head, because I do know there are very competent/productive/outstanding women in leadership roles, and I do know more need to be involved (in Fortune 500 companies, for example.) However, performances like Wasserman-Schultz’ is one reason why I’m not at all sold on the familiar ‘It’s time for a woman president’ refrain. The fact there is a woman at the higher echelons of politics vying to be president does not mean that she’d make a good president and that she should be handed the role. There is very little that HRC has done that suggests presidency to my mind. When a good, sincere leader comes along who is also female and who is able to articulate her vision for the country, a leader who is not afraid to make decisions wisely without waiting to see which way the collective wind is blowing…… *that* will be the time for a woman president. Wasserman-Schultz and her buddies who are setting the stage for HRC and trying to squeeze her through the doors of the WH are misguided IMO. If HRC is so good and so ‘right’ for the job, she ought to be able to stand on her own feet and convince the voters.
You are preaching to the choir here at TOD. I agree 100% that HRC and her minions are trying to guarantee her the nomination and will not let anyone else be considered. Unlike PBO who had his own coalition and did not need the DNC or HLC. If O’Malley or BS is waiting for the Democratic party to be on their side and not get their own coalition like PBO they are just wasting their time.
And because MO’M and BS are wasting their time and nobody else of stature is in the race, DWS (and her cohorts) will succeed in muscling HRC into the role of primary winner. :( I am not a HRC fan, but I’d be better able to accept her in the role if I thought she won it on her merit as opposed to getting it because those in charge fixed it for her. Right now, I can picture HRC doing as well in the job of president as Wasserman-Schultz has been doing in her leadership position. She’ll go through the motions, becoming surly when her decisions are questioned.
I remember a certain consternation in ’07 when Barack Obama announced and at some point I had to make my choice between him and others (and it appeared Hillary would be his biggest competition). I’d already had my hopes somewhat dashed when I realized that wonderful Joe Biden wouldn’t be getting the nod as our nominee (was a big fan of his for decades, still am). I’m an original baby boomer and had gone through the ’70s women’s movement (Ha ha) and really really really wanted to get cracking on that glass ceiling. I recall expressing my feelings to my friends that I felt I just had to push for Barack Obama since he was everything anybody would ever want in a President, but there was still that nudge to see our first woman President. I felt kinda bad about it since there was, finally, a choice. One of my friends helped me decide by reminding me: “Yes, we want a woman President. We just don’t want ANY woman President.”
Barack Obama it was, and I never looked back.
I totally agree with every word you wrote, VC. (Run, Joe, Run)
Can yo hear us, VP Joe? At some level we know you are in pain, but we so do not want to settle for Hillary if it is at all in your psyche to finish the hand you and PBO have been handling so well. Some of us (okay, I) believe seeing your & PBO’s efforts continued will help *you* in some small measure over the next couple of years.
I was glad that in 2008 I did not have to hold my nose and vote for HRC and I hope that I won’t have to in 2016. I hope that VPBiden runs and does not need the DNC or DLC. I delete their emails and do not answer my landline. When I do make the mistake of answer the phone and it’s some poor fundraiser I tell them exactly why I won’t give them a dime as long as they keep running away from PBO’s record.
And a Bernie supporter added another question. (Either these “Vice Chairs” need to admit it’s only a titular role or get together and change DWS’ decision on these issues, if they agree with many of their fellow Democrats. My take.)
@R_T_Rybak How do you feel about the Debates or lack of Debates?

Hi there!
H
That extra H mistake cost me first. :(
 You are morally furst, OG!
Woo Hoo!
Do you think it is possible that DWS blocked the resolution because she though it might fail
No, not at all. I think it had tremendous support. I think that’s what motivated her. She has too much personal business at stake.
sigh….i think so too… :-(
Photo for the ages! Makes me choke up…
Hmmm…. ;-)
Hmmmm…..
Congrats on 1st pf58 :)
Could not agree with you more, Chips re: photo of the week!! TY!!

yes…yes he would.
I adore this photo. PBO is looking into the heart and curiosity of this child to connect. It’a just beautiful.

He should be good to go for a couple of hours.
Good evening.
I have just opened a sassy California pinot grigio.
And we have home-made steak fajita leftovers for dinner.
Meanwhile, women’s marathon is on the teevee box.

For some reason this makes me think of Schumer, Menendez and Wasserman-Schultz
Yes Debbie W. Schultz need to resign.
I should not say what I think, engage Bernie supporters at dkos when I’ve had a bottle of wine on a Saturday night…….
Too funny.

:) Crossing mine as I head to bed. Nighty-nite, JO’B
Nighty-nite, sweet VC! Guess I’ll head off to dreamland, too.

But not before I land this (oops - when over to escape twitter and found another!) …

Jojo, I’m wishing, hoping and longing that you won’t need to hold your nose to vote this time around either.
I agree with you.
Well, the Mayor responded.
But didn’t exactly answer my question, so I sent him another.
This was my original tweet, which I sent to three or four of the DNC Vice Chairs.
And a Bernie supporter added another question. (Either these “Vice Chairs” need to admit it’s only a titular role or get together and change DWS’ decision on these issues, if they agree with many of their fellow Democrats. My take.)
Excellent tweets Jacqueline!!
good night TOD ….
Oops, it’s after 1a.m. people! I’m going to bed. Sweet dreams all you sleepers! Hope you get some relief, LPlains.
