I’ve done a lot of reading on this issue, its a very complex partnership. To get 12 nations to agree on anything is difficult, and to introduce money to an agreement is beyond difficult. I’ve always admired President Obama’s intellect and his leadership skills, for me this deal represents President Obama at his best.

w10 is no great shakes over w 7 or 8. They brought back the start button and now updates are automatic. There ain’t gonna be w11 or whatev crap name in future. It’s gonna be only w10 with regular updates. So I would use the free upgrade now than pay for it later since m$ threatens no more updates for w 7 & 8 in future.
Yes, it comes with games but you have to go online to play them which is total bs. Luckily I have a xp solitaire exe file and I use it.

Hf, I am not a supporter of HRC, although I would work and vote for her over any Republican. But we can’t underestimate the heartfelt support she has among many women. I have had random Democratic women come up to me and whisper how outraged they are about Hillary’s treatment in the press and how much they’re looking forward to voting for her. I’ve seen the quiet pride a lot of older women have as they sport their Hillary buttons or line up to take photos with Hillary cutouts. This is where her support is and we will have to tread with empathy and care if/when VP Biden declares. These women feel they’ve waited a long time for a female president and they are going to feel betrayed if they feel she’s been slighted. In 2008, the Hillary supporters I knew eventually fell in line and worked hard for candidate Barack Obama, so when and if the time comes, I will try to extend the same courtesy back to them. This is what makes us decent, caring human beings and Democrats.
Jackie, I hear what you’re saying, and I agree 100% with you that at the end of the day, we’re Democrats. However, voting simply on race or gender lines, is problematic - if not dangerous. As I said, I didn’t vote for Obama simply because of his race. The idea that HRC should be elected because it’s “time” for a female president is a bogus argument. It also implies that PBO’s election was all about his race - which is FALSE.
If VP Biden decides to enter the race, I don’t think his supporters should “tread lightly” in their support for him simply out of fear of alienating HRC voters. PBO has a large coalition, and if people are truly about policies and not about race/gender superficialities, they will find Biden’s policies quite appealing. I’m sorry but adult voters should not require “empathy and care” when making serious decisions about this nation’s future.
If HRC wins the Dem nomination through a fair and square democratic process, I will be ADULT about it, and vote for her in the general election, regardless of whether or not she was my first choice in the primary. I won’t require “empathy and care” to make a responsible voting decision.

You’re talking about after PBO won the nomination through a rigorous democratic process. And as I said above, I will support whoever the Dem nominee is 100% AFTER the Dem primary. Chips, having listened to a lot of union guys, there are very few of them who dig beneath the surface of ‘catch phrases.’ Nafta was bad, so TPP must be worse is the extent of the thinking. Right now Bernie and his rants, especially his digs at PBO, are revving up the disaffected who have not been able to keep up with changing global dynamics. Bernie tells them there are real villains and good guys and he will magically make this a better world for them and they believe him. He doesn’t do complexity and he yells. His supporters don ‘t do nuance or research. Mercifully for all of us there won’t be enough primary Sanders voters in enough states to make him the nominee.

Sadly, meta, you and I both know that those who complain the most loudly about this agreement and its co-called secrecy will NOT take the time to read it. They will rant and rave about imaginary points and put their fingers in their ears if you try to tell them the facts. This is one very important reason (among thousands) why VP Biden needs to enter the presidential race. He actually KNOWS what he’s talking about and can put down the pandering idiocy among the D presidential candidates and members of Congress.

ISIS unveils two shocking theme parks for children

As much as these photos may resemble Banksy’s Dismaland theme park, this is unfortunately no joke. ISIS has unveiled two new theme parks to mark last week’s Eid Al-Adha.
The Islamic State showed off photos of its two new fairgrounds on social media. The Daily Mail posted the photos, which show children spinning on tea cup rides, playing bumper cards and miniature train rides.
According to Yahoo News, the parks reportedly opened last week. ‘Ride City’ in ISIS’ self-declared capital of Raqqa in Syria, and the other in Fallujah in Iraq, are both known as war zones.

Ohio Boy Suspended From School for Staring at White Girl; Court Upholds School’s Decision
A 12-year-old boy claims that he and another student were playing the ‘staring game’ yet he was suspended in 2014 for reportedly intimidating his female classmate. A court recently upheld the suspension.

A 12-year-old Ohio boy was suspended last year for staring at another student while playing the “staring game” and recently, a court has upheld the suspension.
According to Fox 19, the incident happened in September 2014 at the St. Gabriel Consolidated School in Glendale, Ohio. According to the boy’s parents, who didn’t want him interviewed on camera, the two teens were engaged in a “staring game” when they claim their son was disciplined.
“The perception is he intimidated her,” Candice Tolbert, the boy’s mother told the news station.
“My son stared at a girl who was engaged in a staring game,” she said. “She giggled the entire time.”
The boy’s parents filed a lawsuit in an attempt to get the suspension lifted from their son’s record, noting that the school didn’t give their son due process. The Tolberts told the news station that the incident happened on a Monday. The girl’s parents contacted the school about the incident on Tuesday and on the same day; their son was suspended and apparently wrote an apology letter without their knowledge. They claim that they were not aware of the suspension until Wednesday.
According to court documents viewed by the news station, the girl claimed she “felt fearful.” In the apology letter written by the 12-year-old, he stated, “I never knew she was scared because she was laughing.”

Malia Obama’s College Pick: Ivies, Liberal Arts or Public University?

WASHINGTON — President Obama recently had some fatherly counsel for his 17-year-old daughter, Malia, even as he acknowledged that she might not listen to him.
“One piece of advice that I’ve given her is not to stress too much about having to get into one particular college,” Mr. Obama told a group that included high school students in Des Moines last month. “Just because it’s not some name-brand, famous, fancy school doesn’t mean that you’re not going to get a great education there.”
His second piece of advice, the president said as the room broke into laughter, “is keep your grades up until you get in, and after that, make sure you pass.”
It is college application season in America, including at the White House, where Malia Obama, a senior at the elite Sidwell Friends School in Washington, is in the middle of the pressure-filled process of writing personal essays, asking for teacher recommendations and narrowing her choices.
Reports from college newspapers and conversations with campus tour guides indicate that Malia, perhaps the nation’s most eligible 2016 college applicant, is winnowing a list of Ivy League schools, liberal arts colleges and at least one top-ranked public university. Her current grades and SAT scores are not publicly known — the first lady’s office declined to comment for this article — but Mr. Obama, for one, told the students in Des Moines that his daughter was a “hard worker” and that he did not expect her to “start feeling a little slack” in her senior year.

But in recent months, a focus on mental health – which must have tested well with focus groups – has become one of the GOP’s principal talking points. Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn (R-Texas), the day of the mass-shooting in Oregon last week, urged President Obama to back Cornyn’s bill “to address mental health factor in mass violence incidents.”
In the Washington Post over the weekend, University of Chicago professor Harold Pollack described some provisions of Cornyn’s proposal as “helpful and constructive,” but highlighted a missing piece of the puzzle.
Cornyn’s proposal does not address the most glaring issue in American mental health policy: the Affordable Care Act’s Medicaid expansion. Medicaid expansion was always the public health cornerstone of ACA. It remains the single most important measure to expand access to mental health and addiction treatment, serving severely vulnerable populations such as the homeless, addressing the complicated medical and psychiatric difficulties of many young men cycling through our jails and prisons.
I suspect that for many Republicans, the idea of “Obamacare” playing a meaningful role in preventing mass-shootings must sound ridiculous. After all, “Obamacare” is inherently bad, even when it’s good, and all of its provisions must be rejected because, well, just because.
I am with those that believe Jeb will be the ultimate nominee….but, even I don’t see how. I just don’t think the GOP Establishment has ever lost. So, while I never thought Trump would be the nominee, I always wanted him to stay in as long as possible. Now, we’re in October and he’s still in…teee hee hee

Shonda Rhimes Shares How She Lost 117 Pounds but Hated Every Minute of It

Shonda Rhimes is probably the busiest woman in Hollywood. Between juggling her popular TV shows and being a mother, Rhimes realized that there was one thing she was neglecting, and that was her health.
In a recent interview with Extra, during the ShondaLand TGIT party, she explained that she lost 117 pounds by changing her eating habits and regular exercise.
But it wasn’t easy, and she said she hated it the whole time, but Rhimes had some pretty big motivators.
“I just decided I was going to get it together and get healthy. I have some little kids, and I want to be around them,” Rhimes told Extra.
Rhimes has also gotten used to her new healthy lifestyle and says it’s a little bit easier.
“Once I decided it wasn’t going to be fun, I lowered my expectations,” she explained. “It got kind of easier.”
She added, “I actually eat everything I want to eat. I tried to make it much less and smaller portions, but what’s happened is, is that you change what your palate wants. I’m suddenly craving fish and salad. It’s upsetting,” Rhimes stated. “I’m like, ‘Where’s my cake?’’’

Racial pattern in Alabama DMV closings suggests dirty trick
Rachel Maddow reports on the closing of DMV offices in Alabama, ostensibly due to budget problems, but the closures are in predominantly African-American counties, and a driver’s license is the most common form of ID used to comply with the state’s new voter ID law.

Pollsters surveyed by POLITICO have a unanimous warning for the Republican National Committee and the TV networks who are using public-opinion surveys to exclude presidential candidates from debates: Don’t trust polls to detect often-tiny grades of opinion in a giant field.
Indeed, the unprecedented reliance on polls to winnow the Republican field is coming at a time when many pollsters feel they’re blinder than ever to trends in public thinking — and that using polls to keep out candidates who are otherwise well qualified could seriously alter the race.
“Polls are being used to do a job that they’re really not intended for — and they’re not as qualified for as they used to be,” said Cliff Zukin, a professor at Rutgers University and past president of the American Association for Public Opinion Research.
Zukin warned that polling has become increasingly unreliable because Americans are harder to reach — nearly half of adults are unreachable on a landline phone — and roughly nine in 10 are unwilling to participate in surveys even when pollsters manage to contact them. New Hampshire Gov. Maggie Hassan will challenge GOP Sen. Kelly Ayotte next year, Hassan announced Monday — a decision that boosts Democrats’ chances of winning the swing-state Senate seat and taking back control of the chamber.
“You can count on me to take my bipartisan approach, my common sense and my commitment to problem-solving and results to the Senate,” Hassan said in a video announcing her candidacy.
Polls have showed the popular Hassan — who is forgoing a third two-year term — running close with Ayotte in early matchups.

It has always been a pet peeve of mine when biracial people seem to ignore their white side and act as if the world perceives them as black through and through. I always felt that in their determination to identify solely and sternly as black, they were missing out on an opportunity to share some of the insight they may have about how white people feel and think about race relations. That they might be missing out on an opportunity to act as a conduit between both racial groups.
In an interview with The Guardian, Grey’s Anatomy star Jesse Williams does a fantastic job of articulating the privileges and insights that being biracial affords him, and how he uses that knowledge to inform his work as an activist in working-class black communities. Williams’ mom is white, and his dad is black.

What will it take for African Americans to close the achievement gap in science, technology, engineering and math? It’s a complex issue that experts say involves, among other factors, the public education system, poverty and teachers’ unconscious racial bias.
So far, the solutions have been elusive. But there’s a consensus that mentorship is a key.
Terrence Southern, 37, knows the challenges that lie ahead for the next generation regarding STEM. He’s a robotics engineer with 15 years in the tech industry who grew up in Detroit, where his dreams were nurtured by an eighth-grade teacher. He wants to be that kind of support for as many young people as possible.
