    Howdy Chips & TOD faithfull!

    “Aaron Miller stood on the sidelines at TD Garden on Tuesday night as Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James walked over, shook his hand and rubbed his head, and he reacted as any high school student might. “I just said, ‘Oh, my God,’ ’’Aaron said by telephone Wednesday. “I can’t believe he’s doing this right now. I can’t believe he’s doing this.’” Aaron, 16, reached out his left arm, his good arm, and briefly placed it on James’s shoulder before James turned to continue the game against the Celtics. But while James was still within earshot, Miller gathered himself to say one last thing. “Look at my shoes!” The shoes were made by Nike, which recently agreed to a lifetime contract with James. But these Nikes, which essentially open at the heel and can be fastened with a strap, were made to make life easier for someone like Aaron….

    He suffered a severe stroke at birth that caused a rare form of cerebral palsy called spastic hemiplegia. Most of his right side was paralyzed, vision in his right eye was blurred, his brain function was limited, and he was unable to walk. “We were told that he’s basically going to be a paraplegic and won’t be able to have a normal life,” his father, Scott Miller, said. “But right from the beginning we totally said, ‘That’s not gonna happen….When Aaron was introduced to the crowd during a timeout, James was among the many to be touched by his story. “I was actually in the game and Coach was drawing up a play,” James said. “But I looked up at the Jumbotron and seen what he had been through and where he is now, and I think the doctor said he would never walk again or talk again or something like that. I looked up there and I just . . . this game is so much more than basketball. Also, I seen he had my shoes on. I designed those shoes for kids with conditions where they’re not able to tie their own shoestrings, and he had a pair on.” When the game ended, Scott Miller said, a cameraman said James wanted to meet the Millers. James then took off his Nikes and handed them to Aaron. “He congratulated me and said like, ‘You deserve it. You’re an inspiration to all of us,’ ” Aaron said. “Aaron almost passed out, of course,” Scott Miller said. “And there’s LeBron doing his interview standing around in his socks. The whole thing has left Aaron just in awe, but he really appreciates it. He’s not a kid that likes the spotlight or anything. He’s just happy in his own quiet world, and this really kind of made him shine…continued”

    Glad to see our beloved First Family off to enjoy their vacation. :) I enjoyed our President’s presser this afternoon. He means business when he says that the 4th quarter is the most interesting; it’s not even halfway and he’s going to be out on the field next year! I look forward to savoring every last minute of his final year in office. :) :)

    Is that FLOTUS Mom in the light blue coat? Since the right wing haters are always talking about the cost of the Obamas vacations, let me say this, as a taxpayer let me say I hope the Obama family have a wonderful vacation all on me.

      Second that, bella! The Hawaii press writes about the Obama vacations here, always with a paragraph about the cost in security. And they dredge up some cranky rethug willing to say the road closures are irritating. Whatever. Haters can’t take away the beauty of this family and their holiday together!

          WOW…great interview! I especially loved his response to the final question. I would be incredibly happy if he did another “running wild” with PBO after he leaves office. :) :)

    occasionally some local media people practice actual journalism, but it’s incredible how as a whole “the news” covers up basically any crime committed by republicans, and literally makes negative things up about democrats (new york times). we’ll see if any other outlet picks this major expose up:

    How I wish every Pres Obama supporter would use ISIL and or Daesh when they Tweet.
    The Media has willfully refused to use ISIL/Daesh while simultaneously chiding Pres Obama for not say ‘Radical Islam’. Who is fighting ISIL/Daesh? The Obama Administration and the Allies. Who are currently denying the Administration a Bill to Fight ISIL/Daesh? Congress. Who are the main cheerleaders? The US News Media with two exceptions; Al Jazeera and Mark Knoller.
    ISIL/Daesh it should be from now on.

    my only comments about the voter data base fiasco:

    if there are any breaches or backdoors in the Dem voter data base, it is best that these can be found now and hopefully fixed;

    as the campaigns and supporters of each of these two candidates go back and forth accusing, counter-accusing, insulting, suing etc each other, I suspect that the gop is listening closely and scheming of ways to exploit this gap in infrastructure;

    in case people here are unaware or have forgotten, there have been actual events in the past where gop jammed the dem data or made attempts to make it unavailable at the critical time (e.g. GOTV drives just before and on election day).

    some gop operatives have even gone to prison over this so you can expect them to try this again;

    that is why when PBO was running his campaign, his ICT team had to “attack” their own data base till it was nonfunctional and then tried to build it up again to see how long they would need to rebuild and to test for any shortcomings. they did this multiple times until they were satisfied that it would withstand external attacks;

    And while the resistance may be symptomatic of death throes, a rage at the dying of the white male light, it nonetheless presents a very real threat — there is the possibility that the old and angry may triumph over the new and different. Those who are furious are not without power to effect change that lasts generations: Imagine Ted Cruz or Donald Trump or Marco Rubio in office with a Republican Congress and Supreme Court seats to fill. Voting: restricted. Immigration: halted. Abortion: banned. Equal pay: unprotected. Same-sex marriage: overturned.
