CONGRATULATIONS SWB…YOUR TEETH ARE LOOKING GOOD THIS MORNING!…I’M TICKLED PINK OVER THE TRUMP STINK..THE SWAMP IS GOING TO BE OVERLOADED WITH BAD FISH!
Congrats, SWbluega! Will never forget that day in 2007. Hats off to POTUS and FLOTUS for raising those darling little girls in the White House to make us all so proud!
Thanks, Judith. The announcement of his candidacy, his campaign, and especially his Presidency awakened a sleeping nation. He and FLOTUS made the White House truly the People’s House.
OH I REMEMBER THIS WELL…THESE MEMORY LANE TRIPS ARE DIFFICULT…IN FACT I HAD WRITTEN AND REC’D A LETTER FROM THEN SENATOR OBAMA PRIOR TO THIS AMAZING EVENT…GOOD MORNING TOD FAMILY!..<3
The media is so happy to put down President Obama by hyping the two anti-Obama winners in a tiny white state that they ignore how unrepresentative the electorate is. Neither Bernie or Trump has faced anything like the vetting given Senator Obama and Hillary in 2008. Racism and misogyny are ugly strains in the US. Bernie supporters actually booed Hillary when she was talking about going to Flint. Trump and Bernie supporters at their rallies and online are two sides of the same coin. I miss the mantra of “Respect, Empower, Include.” It is clear that the President is realistic that only Hillary will build on his achievements (when he cautioned against voting for the candidate who just shouted slogans).
NEARLY 8 YEARS OF DISRESPECT AND ABUSE WHILE HE HAS BEEN IN THE WHITEHOUSE….THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER ONE…THEY BROKE THE MOLD..I LOVE MY ENERGIZER PRESIDENT…FIRE IT UP…AND PRESS ON!
Bernie was expected to win in NH; media/pundits have been saying it for weeks. But NH is very early in the process and is not representative of the rest of the United States. While there may be lessons learned from both IA and NH, I don’t think the panic the media is trying to stir up is not yet warranted.
I hope HRC, her campaign leadership, and her supporters follows PBO’s example and take/stay on the high road. That will come into play at the end of the nomination process.
but, this is who they are. they have always been this messy. they are always running to the press to try and convince the MSM how important they are to Camp Clinton.
and, if she wins…these same muthaphuckas will be leaking to the press like a sieve.
BECAUSE THIS IS WHO SHE HAS AROUND HER.
It was never ‘JUST HILLARY’.
A lot of the trepidation about her is WHO IS AROUND HER.
I miss the “No Drama Obama” campaign. Then, all the drama came from *outside* in an effort to distract and discourage. In addition to a campaign site, the OFA blog was like a support group…continuous encouragement and rallying of the troops. Exciting times. [sigh]
Exactly prettyfoot.. this is just more bs from the m$m… besides President Obama wants Hillary to be the next POTUS, and AG Holder, John Lewis.. all the 170 African American Women Leaders who are going to South Carolina to knock on doors and make phone calls for Hillary.. including the strong and beautiful, Angela Bassett!
All these esteemed leaders know who’s going to be the best POTUS for us. And, they know berniesanders is just out to destroy the President’s legacy.
Didn’t Hillary come out of NH with almost as many delegates as Bernie? Plus she is way ahead overall with pledged delegates. Not the monster win the pundits are saying it is. Hillary supporters should learn from the two Obama campaigns to play the long game.
Bernie Sanders will win at least 13 of the Democratic delegates in New Hampshire and Hillary Clinton will win at least nine. Two delegates haven’t yet been allocated.
In the overall race for delegates, Clinton has 394, thanks in large part to endorsements from superdelegates — party officials who can support the candidate of their choice.
Sanders has 42 delegates.
It takes 2,382 delegates to win the Democratic nomination for president.
Yes, but we also need an electorate eager to go and vote for the nominee. That’s what really worries me. Sanders’s followers don’t seem interested to support a Democrat. Will they go out and vote for HRC?
. And if there are disaffected Bernie supporters who tell us next fall that they will not voting for Hillary Clinton those people had better get out of our way.
I agree with you and JackieG! Quite a few of Bernie’s supporters are Naderites! They are fair weather Democrats! What we theloyal Democrats need to do is work hard to register new voters. After that, we should work just as hard to get out the votes in November. I am not a big Hillary Clinton fan, but since my #1 and #2 candidates, VP Joe Biden and Gov. Matin O’Malley respectively, are not in the race, I am ready to embrace Hillary Clinton.
According to this Charles Gaba retweet, BS gets 13; HRC gets 15. Bernie supporters were complaining about the process to allocate delegates and was reminded that it was the same process in place in 2008 and that then Senator Obama worked the system to eventually win.
Bernie Sanders nearly doubled Clinton in NH yet he got fewer delegates than her. This is how democracy works? pic.twitter.com/6OqhSb7yDh

Wilson Michael, that mold has been broken and cannot be duplicated.
HRC is savvy enough to see the long road towards the end game…not just bask in the short-term victories. She is smart enough to use the lessons learned, and I think she is open-minded enough not to discount any of the lessons. She’s learned lessons from being President Obama’s opponent, and from being a part of his administration. Let’s just hope that she is smart enough not to duplicate past mistakes.
You may be right in everything you said about HRC. But I am a bit concerned about her campaign. I think her team, including DWS, thought that this was going be an easy coronation for HRC. Lets hope her people have learned a good lesson from Iowa and New Hampshire. They (the Clinton people) must prepare for a long and protracted campaign. They also must avoid a taking African Americans, Hispanic Americans, Asian Americans for granted. HRC must continue highlighting her policies that will address their concerns.
She is a sweet kitten amk but how does she get along with jenny? I say she because its a calico and most callies are female. Please get her spayed before she goes into heat. I know she over 2lbs and can be.
This picture was made on the evening Barack Obama made his now famous “Yes We Can” speech after losing in the New Hampshire primary to Hillary Clinton. A Loser Can Become the Winner.
Sue, I am with you all the way! I am proud of what they’ve done for this country. But I am glad that in less than a year now, they can go home and start living a normal life, away from the media vultures and from from the right wing and left wing vicious haters. Most importantly, their lovely daughters need some room to breath and enjoy their teen years.
They are such a beautiful and loving couple! Surely, this is what TRUE LOVE looks like. Their deep love for each other has sustained them through all the ugliness they’ve faced since he announced his candidacy for President. At 70 years, I’ve voted for many politicians. But the votes I am most proud of are the three votes I cast for President Obama.
I am not so sure, Bella. My grand niece and her family in NJ are glad that his out of the state. That means that he is not in the state inflicting misery to the people of New Jersey.
Yeah, he’s heading back to NJ…long enough to regroup and concentrate on getting on someone’s ticket as VP, or for consideration for someone’s cabinet. No work on behalf of the citizens of NJ.

There’s the respect, empower, include path that the President has been demonstrating. About Writing While Loving Blackness and Hurting White Feelings
Awesomely Luvvie — February 10, 2025
Are you mad about this title? Keep reading. You’re probably the main one that needs to read this.
It has been an interesting 5 days, since Beyonce dropped her Formation video and broke the internet. People (me included) have not been able to stop talking about it, and it has spurred a gajillion thinkpieces. Most folks love it and have been vocal about it but the critiques have poured in too. Then she performed at the Superbowl, had her dancers dressed as Black Panthers and everyone lost their collective minds.
Beyonce’s unapologetic Blackness has heartened those of us who see ourselves in her, and it has offended some people who don’t think she represents them. There have been oceans of white tears for folks to swim in since it happened.
On the night of the Superbowl, I received an email from a woman who reads my blog. What she thought was her passing on some advice to me was really her being Den Mother of Hurt White Feelings.
A hit piece. My guess is that Bernie Sanders, who joined the Democratic ticket but not a Democrat himself, is much better than HRC, for everyone, for those mothers that lost kids to gun violence.
I also think that the author may be promoting a Republican.
Oh man, if you hear screaming from this region, its only MP, roaring in frustration at all the hoopla over tehbern.. Oh! He will be first president elected by using the INTERNET! Oh! He is a Jedi Master, having reached the highest level of the Force! Oh! He will save us all!! Oh! Oh! Oh! Omg I could just puke.
agree. I do not feel the bern… I am taking a deep breath and not listening to any of the MSN with huge agendas. Remember this is a long campaign and there is no reason to believe that the Bern will do as well in SC. Nevada is a mystery to me so I have no idea what will happen there.
Gotta run, hope to be back in time for PBO’s Springfield address — so much is going on this year, hard to find time to savor every moment of PBO’s final year. :(
As a reminder, this speech will have flourishes from our fav @jonfavs:
“‘The central message beginning in 2004 and throughout the 2008 campaign was: We are not as divided as our politics in Washington would suggest,’ former Obama speechwriter Jon Favreau, who helped write the Springfield announcement, said in an interview. ‘And Obama wanted to use his time in Springfield as an example of how people of different views and parties could come together and make progress.'”
In #SpringfieldIL today, @POTUS will remind US that people can come together and make progress. via @MikeDorning https://t.co/GummLyiiH5
Watched the speech. Thanks TOD for making it easy to do that. This reminds me of the many poignant speeches timed perfectly to the situation as things evolved. Our President knows when to interject and todays speech was as much a support of Hillary Clinton’s campaign and evolved positions as is possible in a primary season. If this President campaigns for Hillary Clinton it will be something for the ages. He was an amazing ability to speak to your condition and he did that today. I love my President.
This was such a memorable day for me. This was during the time that I used to watch MSNBC religiously. I can remember coming home and turning on the TV and all these young, invigorated, smart, techie people were on the show talking about all this innovative (at the time) stuff that they were going to do with this campaign. My excitement was off the chart. I had waited 4 years for this moment to come and it was finally here.
They directed us to his website (which was the envy of all of politics) and that was my first venture into online activity. I lurked on that site for almost 6 months before I posted a single comment. Everyone seemed so in-tuned to what they were doing and I was such a novice to this new phenomenon. Over the years (before they destroyed it with trolls and incompetence) I met on the Obama Blog site many committed supporters like J’OB, Meta, PrettyFoot, Jackie4Obama, Sue, Sam from the UK, MightyPamela, Theo67 and many others (forgive me if I left some out) that are now a part of this site daily.
We fought with everything we had to beat the mighty Clinton machine. There were moments of triumph and moments of anxiety but we never gave up the fight. We knew that history and karma was on our side and in the end we won and there was no greater jubilance than the night that he was declared President Elect of the United States.
This is why in this year’s election it isn’t so much to me about Clinton and her character, trustworthiness or what she did or didn’t do in 2008 it’s about the struggle that this President has had to endure to get ANYTHING done. And yet, he has persevered with many successes along the way. I marvel at his patience and fortitude and I want my grand babies to pick up their history books 10 years from now and read about how we elected the first African American President and the legacy of Obama Care and Dodd Frank and I will not stand by and let anyone take that away from him. Those things will not be a footnote they will be a full chapter in our US History.
DD4O - we stand in living witness to the power of the many. We heard his voice, felt his heart, knew deep inside this was not ‘politics’, and had the courage to Hope. He knew it was about us, he knows it is STILL about us, and he knows our courage is flagging a bit in the face of the depressing odds. I think we are going to need some kind of serious miracle this year, and I have no idea where it will spring from. But I do believe! <3 Keep You The Heart. <3
Thanks for a wonderful comment, Donna! I discovered TOD a bit later than you via BWD’s blog. But I found real wonderful people here. I especially admired people like you, Judith from Oregon, Jacke G., Linda with with WIW, and many others who were were actively engaged in the campaign. Your example inspired me to volunteer for the campaign to contribute as often as I could. I will forever treasure that experience.
The “holier than thou purity progressives” supporting Bernie are hypocrites! Bernie is now 74, my age group. Why did he wait so long to run for president to launch his revolution? If he was so opposed to the 1994 crime bill, and to NAFTA, and global trade, why didn’t he run against the policies of Bill Clinton and Al Gore? But even more importantly, why didn’t he run against the policies of Ronald Reagan, George Bush Sr., and George W. Bush? Why is he going around trashing President Obama? Does he really think that President Obama is worse than Ronald Reagan, George Bush Sr., Bill Clinton and George W. Bush?
I pray that in this crucial election, Democrats pay heed to George Santayana’s warning about forgetting history. You see: in 1968 the “purity progressives” abandoned Hubert Humphrey and we ended up with Richard Nixon; in 1972, the conservative “DLC type” abandoned George McGovern and we ended up with Nixon again; In 1980 the “purity progressives”abandoned Jimmy Carter and we ended up with Ronald Reagan; and, once again, in 2000, the “purity progressives” abandoned Al Gore and we ended up with George W. Bush. Now Richard Nixon (despite revisionist history), Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush took our country backward, but they were angels compared to the current leading Republicans like Trump, Cruz and Rubio.
If Bernie Sanders was not out there trashing President Obama and openly running against his policies, I would have no problems supporting him. It seems to me that he has chosen to run against the President and has surrounded himself with the so called progressives who have been trashing a sitting Democratic President for the past seven years. Despite my utter disgust for Bernie and his supporters, if he is the nominee of the Democratic Party I will cover my nose and vote him. I hear, however, that many of Bernie’s supporters would rather not vote if Hillary Clinton is the nominee; and some are saying that they will vote for Trump over HRC. If that is the case, then I have absolutely no interest in supporting Bernie Sanders. I don’t know about anybody else, but I refuse to support any one out to undermine and destroy the Democratic Party.
A righteous rant. I agree with everything you said. I will add one thing: ideological zealotry aside, Bernie is unfit to be POTUS. How does someone sit in COngress for 25 years and be so dim and disinterested in FP? I always thought he was an intelligent man - I now fervently believe that he is one-trick pony who is dim on what it means to be POTUS. A disaster.
Lukewarm Russert just announced that Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio WILL show up to vote on North Korea sanctions. So far this year Rubio has not shown up for any votes. I think he said Bernie has also missed all the votes and Cruz showed up for only one.( or vice versa, I wasn’t paying close attention to the last part .)
I know it will seem like a leap but I think today President Obama gave his endorsement to Hillary Clinton in a most powerful way. Now we shall see what the Bernie Bros do when confronted with our Jedi master. No one does rope a dope like our President. Bless him.
Quite a contrast today as both President Obama and Governor Christi head back to where their political lives began. One goes back as a transformative statesman for the ages, the other a two-bit petulant bully whose temper tantrum led him to inconvenience the citizens of his state by closing down a bridge, and is now most assuredly waiting on a looming federal indictment.
Just read on Facebook that Rachel Maddow stated in her commentary last night while hosting the election show that Bernie Sanders was the first person running for President who has ever articulated what she believed. I guess this is what’s in store for the next few month. :(
Nope! If they were honest they would tell us the TRUTH! They just couldn’t stand the Black guy in the White House who refused to be at their beck and call on every issue. Historically, this is nothing new when it comes to many white progressives who think that they are superior to Black people. Black Abolitionists experienced similar treatment once they decided to speak for themselves instead of always relying on white abolitionists to speak for them. Although the great white abolitionist had been a mentor, and supposedly a friend, of the great Black abolitionist, Frederick Douglass, Garrison was so angry when Frederick Douglass launched his own paper, the “North Star” in direct competition with the “Liberator.” But What Garrison was most angry about was the fact that Douglass had abandoned the Garrisonian creed of “moral suasion,” which advocated non-involvement and non-participation in politics. By the time he launched his “North Star,” Douglass had concluded that “moral suasion” alone would not be enough to bring about the abolition of slavery. He joined abolitionists, black and white, who called for involvement in politics and using the U.S. Constitution to attack slavery. Consequently, Garrison regarded Douglass as a traitor. Because Frederick Douglass grew and decided to rely on his own judgement, Garrison, like Bill Press and the Bernie supporters, expressed “Buyer’s Remorse.” Once Douglass embraced political abolitionism, William Lloyd Garrison was so angry that urged his fellow abolitionists not to read Douglass’ paper, the “North Star.”
And she isn’t alone. One who we used to admire for her honesty…Randi Rhodes….is also a supporter. I do recall her being dismayed a number of times with PBO, who she mainly favored, but I began detecting her radicalism after a while. Bye Randi, nice having known ya. Rachel, stay on good documentaries….with facts. Otherwise, you live as well in LaLa land !
I thought she had said the same thing about Ralph Nader and Dennis Kucinich! For the life of me, I don’t see any difference between Ralph Nader, Dennis Kucinich, and Bernie Sanders. I do, however, give Dennis Kucinich high marks for remaining a Democrat even though he vigorously disagreed with most of his fellow Democrats. The same couldn’t be said of Bernie Sanders and Ralph Nader.
“Sharpton says he and various heads of national civil rights organizations plan to meet with Hillary Clinton next week. He says he won’t endorse a candidate until that meeting with Clinton” - Yeah Okay.

Correct me if I am wrong, but didn’t the “Nation’s Publishers” endorse Ralph Nader in 2000?
tired of this…..
Eyes wide open. She is going to have to work her a*s off for her crown.
You are not alone.
agree. I do not feel the bern… I am taking a deep breath and not listening to any of the MSN with huge agendas. Remember this is a long campaign and there is no reason to believe that the Bern will do as well in SC. Nevada is a mystery to me so I have no idea what will happen there.
Really ……….
Hope all of you are having a good day …. bbl ….

GM TODville.
I don’t think it was a failure of his Presidency, I just think that America’s id was unleashed.
THE LIGHT REVEALED THE EVIL IN THIS COUNTRY…PERIOD!
Donna - you spoke for me and so many others in the trenches from the start. Thanks you!
Standing UP….YES WE Willllll…..
SUCH A GOOD MAN AND A WONDERFUL FAMILY…NEVER AGAIN!
Chips, I’ve got a lost post :(
Found and freed, Donna!
Thank you :)
Who is playing dirty politics, look like Bernie supporters know how to play it very well.
A disaster.
Last night on PBS Newshour , Judy Woodruff announced the Dem Debate on Thursday will include Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders AND Martin O’Malley.
Huh ?
Bless him.
I don’t know what to make of this election season. I never fathomed in all of my (almost) 66 years that I would an election like this.
LOL. So true.
Thank you for this.
Yep.
I’m really curious to see how they react when she wins the nom. Some of them might be nuts enough to actually sit back and not vote or write-in.
I am ignoring all bs till super tuesday.
Me, too.
2006-08 was enough for a lifetime.
So it wasn’t a healthcare bill, and an end to two wars, and it wasn’t marriage equality, nor was it an end to DADT?
Apparently not.
Rachel Maddow has shown she is a disappointed.
That is easy to say when your net worth is 13 million Rachel…..
da dahling of progressives.
I stopped watching MSNBC years ago. Can’t stand her know-it-all bashing of President Obama.
Beauty break:
thank you for this…

“Sharpton says he and various heads of national civil rights organizations plan to meet with Hillary Clinton next week. He says he won’t endorse a candidate until that meeting with Clinton” - Yeah Okay.
Bernie: I didn’t know I would have to explain to black people why they should for me.
Al: Yes, you have to explain to us why you want our vote, President Obama did.
Bernie: But I marched with King.
Al: And.
Bernie: Revolution, big banks, wall street, wall street, wall street.
Al: Check please!

Institutional discrimination in the work place, schools, colleges, housing where it was easier to be on welfare than get a job was institutionally designed to keep AA’s out of the workforce until it became a campaign tool just like crime, drugs in minority areas. This guy is a uncle tom and i hope he enjoys his 30 pieces of silver.
You’ve got to read this entire timeline.

While I’ll vote for Sanders if he is the nominee, I can’t stand his surrogate. This woman has turned into an obnoxious supporter.
No Child, my sister mentioned her nastiness yesterday. I have not seen her lately because I rarely watch the pundits. What is her present job?
Cool!
