Thanks Ladyhawke. I love how the Obama crew points out that there really isn’t any comparison to between the Obama Campaign and the Sanders Campaign. They have two very distinctly different goals.

More than 20 Hispanic celebrities — including “Law & Order’s” Benjamin Bratt, comedian George Lopez and “Avatar” actress Zoe Saldana — are slamming the entire GOP presidential field for “capitalizing on negative stereotypes and inaccurate information about our community.”

In an open letter addressed to “the Latino community” and released Thursday by the liberal advocacy organization People for the American Way, the Hollywood stars write, “In this year’s 2016 Republican presidential primary, the candidates crossed a line.”

“In trying to win the nomination, every one of the leading candidates dug themselves into a deep hole pandering to the anti-immigrant base of the Republican Party that idolizes Donald Trump.”…“We must not, though, let Trump’s xenophobia overshadow the extreme policies being pushed by every single one of the GOP’s leading presidential candidates.”

I wish I had the words to describe Bernie Sanders in a way that I could describe Hillary or Bill Clinton, at least with the Clintons all of their machinations made sense to me whether I disagreed with them or not, I still understood them. But with Bernie Sanders there is no there, there. Sanders is surface deep, beyond the calls for revolution and his almost Captain Ahab zeal to go after the big banks he is a politician incapable of serious and deep contemplation. After President Obama’s speech in Springfield yesterday it only solidified for me what I already knew in that he is a very deep thinker. Only a deep thinker could stand before a rapt audience and give you chapter and verse on the idiosyncrasies of past Presidents. For me personally I get joy from President Obama when is professorial.

Perfect, Don. I read a comprehensive article earlier today. It is eerie and terrifying that Bernie has not changed a syllable or a thought in 50 years. No growth, no depth, no introspection, and worse, no curiosity. He would be a terrible POTUS. He is, I have come to realize, à Marxist in the worst sense.

    GA TODville.

Been away for most of the day, but for those who have 45 minutes to set aside, this truly is a must-see interview.

It was so touching to see what deep affection PBO has for his former state senate colleagues (posted this on Early Bird thread, before I had a chance to view the video — wish I had the skills to break the video down into manageable chunks, instead of a 45-minute long video).

See tweet for what PBO has to say about his legacy (something Obots already know):

The portion of the video that talks about how PBO is treated because he is Black begins at around the 28-minute mark. The former state senator who brought this up (sitting between PBO and Christi Parsons) said this about PBO being African American: “When I talk to Republicans, that’s all they talk about; and I say ‘Get over it.'” PBO laughed heartily and said “I have.” ;)

    Here’s the transcript:

    • 33 arapaho415
      February 11, 2025 at 5:51 pm

Here’s something else that TODville knows to be true as well:

Article is worth viewing as it provides a better glimpse of what PBO said in Christi’s interview:

For instance (don’t know why Christi said “complain,” because PBO was simply stating a fact).
“After he first entered the White House in 2009, he said, ‘I would invite a number of Republican senators… to come over to the White House for movies or some other events.’

But increasingly, he complained, “it was hard for them to do it without getting in trouble’ with others in the GOP.

This is so funny and so sad at the same time. Trying to find evidence that Bernie was a significant presence in the civil rights events that John Lewis helped lead is, well, very strange. The pushback against Lewis cannot be more damaging to their campaign efforts. Why don’t they see that?

I know, right? What kind of shoot yourself in the foot strategy is it to do all of this PBO and John Lewis bashing on your way into the SC Primary?!? Aside from being all kinds of wrong from a moral and historical perspective, it’s several levels of stupid from a political perspective.

Well that didn’t take long, President Obama hasn’t even taken the first family’s picture off the wall to pack up for the Obama’s eventual move and already my brothers and sisters in politics are showing their asses for all to see. What is utterly fascinating and sad is the zeal at which they are trying to maneuver themselves to capture whatever crumbs Hillary and Bernie is willing to throw their way. If only they manufactured this same zeal to help President Obama. I got so much to say about all of this shit, when I get my thoughts together I’ll say what I have to say.

Exactly, Bill! Bernie Sanders has run as an independent socialist for more than 30 years. Now all of sudden he wants to run as a Democratic presidential candidate, but at the same time, he is running against a sitting Democratic President as well as most policies backed by Democrats.

What the Senator from Vermont fails to realize is that until you have an engaged citizenry, one that remains involved all the time and not only during presidential primaries or elections, his statement will be a pipe dream. Because he sees large crowds at his rallies, he believes that these followers will be there all the time should he win the presidency.

He seems to forget that people revert to their everyday routines after elections and expect their elected officials to deliver on their promises no matter how hard the other party makes it for them. He underestimates that the left especially has the bad habit at sitting out critical mid-term elections.

He probably thinks that once anointed to the WH, he will speak and things will move.

No. When it was clear there would be NO Public Option or Medicare for all, they all gave up, stopped voting and took their toys and sat out the rest of the elections. Complained that nobody on wall street went to jail (could never tell us what crime they committed to land them in jail), the Thom Hartman’s of the world KNEW the laws were changed because Bill Clinton signed to end Glass-Segal (not that George Bush and the GOP House/Senate would not have passed it anyway.

“The Best Decision I Could Have Made”: Stories from 2008 Campaign Veterans

Yesterday, President Obama returned to Springfield, Illinois, where he began his political career and launched his historic candidacy for President.

In his speech, the President talked about building on the vision he laid out for our country nine years ago, one where we reclaim the meaning of citizenship and restore our sense of common purpose:

“Each and every time, a new generation has risen up and done what’s needed to be done. Today we are called once more — and it is time for our generation to answer that call. For that is our unyielding faith — that in the face of impossible odds, people who love their country can change it.” — Barack Obama, February 9, 2025

Read the stories of some of the staffers who answered that call nine years ago  — and still serve beside President Obama in the White House today.

The “holier than thou purity progressives” who are now attacking Congressman John Lewis aught to be ashamed of themselves. Being a social media “Revolutionary” requires no life threatening sacrifices. Rep. Lewis put his life on the line, for more than a decade in the struggle for freedom. Having been jailed for more than 40 times, and being severely beaten , the least we could is show him some respect.
