Thanks for bringing this over. While I was never a Hillary-hater, I did have serious trust issues and believed (well, as I still do) that Bill is one of her biggest problems. However, when I think of the respect that PBO holds for her (I still remember the interview that they did together at the end of her tenure as SOS) and the fact that he would not put someone in such an important position without knowing that she could and would handle it, as well as how she she held up against the the hours of interrogation regarding the scandals that never were and her debate performances, I have gone from okay, at least she is not as bad as the rest of them, to having more faith in her and a belief that she can and will serve the country well. I hope that she stand firm and that more of us get to see the Hillary that is revealed in these e-mails and that Bill does not fuck it up for her and the rest of us. I have begun talking to my circle (Florida primary will be here soon) about why they should vote, whole-heartedly for Hillary.

Well said, CEB. Talking to our various circles is what we all need to do to help dispel misconceptions about Hillary and to address delusions about Bernie.
Right now, she is making the same mistake she made in 2008. She waited too long to setup field offices in many States. I don’t understand how she could be making the same mistake again. Go figure.
At this time, I too believe she is the best qualified candidate. I don’t give a shit about Bill Clinton, but Hillary Clinton needs to stop shooting herself in the foot.
I am pissed off about Bernie Sanders’ comment about democrats not being able to be both moderate and progressive. That is absolutely what I am. I agree with all the soaring ideals, but I want somebody to get shit done.
Obama’s departure will break my heart. But the forces of change he began are stating to pay off big. We are finally seeing the complete destruction of one of the most odious political parties ever. The death of Scalia will mobilize the Democrats as much as his candidacy. I am totally invested, and ready to raise hell. Bring it on.
Thanks, Bobfr. Hillary is earning my trust and dare I say, admiration. I did not expect to be here, I really didn’t. I wish even decent progressives would actually watch and listen to the Hillary of 2016. She is warm, comfortable, strong, nuanced, and extremely intelligent, more than capable of rolling with the punches of the presidency. What Bernie doesn’t get is that PBO earned his nomination by building comfort in his abilities to be POTUS. Hillary has learned from PBO. I am comfortable with her ability and heart to lead this nation. Is some of it b.s.? It’s politics. But I criticized Hillary in 2008 for blowing her chance at greatness. I am totally surprised that she may have finally found it.
I’m at the same place, 57, regarding Hillary Clinton. I did not think that would happen.

That soaring denial of racism may go well with some of the white emoprogs. But won’t sell at all with POC. As we know he started out the campaign wanting to not talk about racism at all, only class. Bernie is a marxist in his view of the social paradigm. And in that view the only thing that counts is class consciousness. All ills, racism, war, poverty, bigotry of every kind, environmental destruction- are a manifestation of class in that system. He’s a deluded person.

In my mind, that could also have been some “cutesy” (immature, inexperienced) handler of Bernie’s (they don’t seem real bright, at least some who are speaking for him on the teevee, which also speaks to Bernie’s judgment) making comment that Hillary’s statement appeared to mirror the RFK quote. It was wrong either way. This kind of back and forth will never work for Bernie the unknown, in any event.

I’ve been thinking about McTurtle’s comment that he’s recommending not working to approve any nomination from President Obama. And also other Republican colleagues of McConnell actually agreeing with him and putting off nominations.
so this is what I’m thinking… Republican’s are shooting themselves in the foot because once again, they are showing they don’t want to work. And then if Trump goes ahead and forms his own party (I heard on the news he was considering this) any democrat will be a shoe in. Hell I could probably get a write-in campaign for my dad. (God rest his soul he’s been gone for many years now).
Just have the feeling that whoever gets the democrat nomination is probably going to be President.

Great article. We knew all this, but glad to see it in a publication like the Huff Post. Needs widest dissemination possible.
What I liked about the President’s press conference, as it started, was that both CNN and MSNBC were touting it as being all about Scalia. And then they had to sit through the entire first part, where the President discussed the US-ASEAN conference, thus actually informing the citizenry of why their President was in California, in the first place. I laughed.
I am passionate about this comment. Using the word replacement feeds into the narrative that this appointment is about replacing Scalia when in fact its about filling a vacancy. It has nothing to do about replacement. Scalia is dead (may he RIP) and cannot be replaced although this is what the Republicans want and wish for. Words matter and this one bugs me to no end.

Truthfully - and I confirmed it by listening to how the President answered the question today - I recall it has always been unseemly to agree there would be any litmus test to picking a nominee for the Supreme Court. That’s why you read all their casework and decisions and other things, so you can determine for yourself how closely they’d get to agreeing with your (a President’s) positions. They are supposed to be “objective,” technically, and just follow/interpret the law.
There is some dirty deeds going down in Nevada. A close friend is going this weekend to canvas so I hope to get a good report.
I have no doubt I am voting for Hillary.
To me it is becoming apparent that either Bernie doesn’t mind letting questionable tactics be used then apologizing after the fact when his crew uses a dirty trick campaigning or he is unaware of their actions casting questions about his suitability for the office of the presidency.
