Good morning Ms. Chips, Danny and TOD family, I hope all is well with everyone this lovely Sunday morning. Congrats Chips, on being first to open up your wonderful village this morning.

        GM JackieG.

You wouldn’t believe how envious I am of your forecast for “no sun” this week.

Summer has literally begun in SoCal, average high temps this month must be around 80F — our current “cooling trend” means that forecast high is “only” 80F, with temps rising tomorrow. :(

Relentless sun means few clouds, disappointing sunrises.

Here’s one from last month that I tweeted.

Also hope to catch up with you later on your gardening plans for this year. BBL, off to say good morning to my plants. :)

Iran election: Reformists win all 30 Tehran seats.

Allies of Iran’s reformist President Hassan Rouhani have won a landslide victory in Tehran, in the first parliamentary vote since Iran signed a nuclear deal with world powers.

With 90% of the votes counted, the pro-Rouhani List of Hope is set to take all 30 parliamentary seats in the capital.

The leading conservative candidate Gholamali Haddad-Adel is in 31st place.

    ///

The results are a huge setback for hardliners. Two of the most prominent amongst them have lost their seats, and a third is hovering right at the bottom, in danger of being eliminated.

The biggest shock is the poor showing for Ayatollah Mohammad Yazdi, the current chairman of the Assembly. He replaced former President Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani when he was forced to relinquish the role. The irony is that Mr Rafsanjani is now leading the polls in Tehran.

The top ideologue of the hardliners, Ayatollah Mesbah Yazdi has also lost his seat. He is the spiritual guide of a group that includes former President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

The parliamentary result in Tehran is significant because lawmakers from the capital usually determine the political direction of the house, analysts say.

However, reformists look to have done less well in constituencies outside the capital.

Mr Rouhani said on Saturday that the election gave the government more credibility and clout.

“The competition is over. It’s time to open a new chapter in Iran’s economic development based on domestic abilities and international opportunities,” the official Irna news agency quoted him as saying.

“The people showed their power once again and gave more credibility and strength to their elected government.”

The film adaptation of the erotic novel Fifty Shades of Grey has swept the board at the annual Golden Raspberry or Razzie awards in Los Angeles.

Fifty Shades won worst screenplay, and worst actor and actress for Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson.

The duo also won worst screen combo, but Fifty Shades tied for worst film with Fantastic Four.

Eddie Redmayne was named worst supporting actor, a year on from winning the best actor Oscar.

Bob, I believe it is who she is and her religious (Methodist) roots run deep. I lived in the DC area during the Clinton era and she was a dedicated church goer. Sometimes she dragged Bill along, but often went by herself. The Methodist church she went to was one of the most enlightened in DC with an absolutely stellar minister/preacher and I would often go there just to hear his sermons. It’s sad, sick and ironic that many so-called Evangelical Christians will support the immoral Donald Trump and label the deeply Christian HRC as a liar. Those who have not eyes to see…

We all know that @NerdyWonka is the best live tweeter in the twittersphere, and IMO outdid herself in the tweets she published on yesterday’s overnight thread front page.

Dems who “wish” PBO’s policies were more liberal pretty much align with #Berniebots, which is a non-winning strategy. I haven’t sought out MSM tweets this week (because of the battle between schoolyard taunts known as GOP candidates for President), but have heard that Sanders is running low on $$$ and that it looks like the only states which he might eke out a majority of primary votes in the next couple of weeks are Colorado and Minnesota.

Because MSM works as GOP propaganda machine, it seems to surprise them that Dems have a *genuine* affection for Barack Obama (as a person, as the leader of a stellar team of energetic young staff). An Independent who bashes PBO will not win the Democratic nomination for President.

Tweets referenced here are from last night’s front page (will post embedded tweets below):

    And this…

It’s a CW myth perpetuated by GOP/MSM that Blacks favor more liberal policies than other Dems.

Thanks, Arapaho, for the tweets and the charts. If, like Sanders, you are building your campaign for the DEMOCRATIC Party nomination on criticism of a beloved, sitting DEMOCRATIC president, you are building a house of cards on top of sand. It’s my sincerest hope that the Bernie boomlet dies on March 15 and we can get on with the real task of winning the White House and the Senate and making inroads in the US House. I’m sick of the Bernie whining and sick of the delusional ‘revolution’ that is made of spun sugar and dreams of unicorns.

    http://www.nj.com/opinion/index.ssf/2016/02/whitman_scorches_christie_over_trump_prefers_hilla.html

Gov. Chris Christie’s endorsement of Donald Trump is giving many people in New Jersey indigestion, but none more than former Gov. Christie Whitman, a Republican who has watched in horror as her party drifted rightward for the last decade.

I have a full column on Christie’s shameless stunt coming tomorrow, but I wanted to share Whitman’s quotes right away.

First, she says she’s planning to vote for Hillary Clinton if Trump gets the nod. She’s keeping her options open, in case we find out something new and horrible about Hillary. But that’s her plan now:

“You’ll see a lot of Republicans do that,” Whitman told me. “We don’t want to. But I know I won’t vote for Trump.”

The real juice came when I asked her about Christie’s move:

“I am ashamed that Christie would endorse anyone who has employed the kind of hate mongering and racism that Trump has,” she said. “I would have thought being from a diverse state would have given him more awareness and compassion.”

Evidently the smarter Whitman. Morning everyone.
