GM Tod - hope your Sunday is as peaceful as mine has been. Grandbabe left this morning & we spent the day missing her (& catching up on some quiet :) )
Ah, 99, I know that feeling of missing the little one, as exhausting as they are. Grandbabies get under your skin and deep into your heart, which is just what nature intended.
We have granddaughters of an age jackie & they have so stolen our hearts. Given I wasnât at all keen on the mothering I am truly amazed by my feelings for this little one.
Good morning Ms. Chips, Danny and TOD family, I hope all is well with everyone this lovely Sunday morning. Congrats Chips, on being first to open up your wonderful village this morning.
To all, I hope that Godâs grace, loving-kindness and mercy is bestowed upon you today. <3<3<3
Thank God that President Obama is still the President of The United States of America. âđ âđ âđ
Morning RanMan. Your words are so appropriate for this ‘almost Marchâ day. The sun is shining for the first time in days and this is the only time it will make an appearance for a whole week. Canât help but smile and feel loving kindness when the sun is out.
You wouldnât believe how envious I am of your forecast for “no sun” this week.
Summer has literally begun in SoCal, average high temps this month must be around 80F — our current “cooling trend” means that forecast high is “only” 80F, with temps rising tomorrow. :(
Relentless sun means few clouds, disappointing sunrises.
Hereâs one from last month that I tweeted.

Iran election: Reformists win all 30 Tehran seats.
Allies of Iranâs reformist President Hassan Rouhani have won a landslide victory in Tehran, in the first parliamentary vote since Iran signed a nuclear deal with world powers.
With 90% of the votes counted, the pro-Rouhani List of Hope is set to take all 30 parliamentary seats in the capital.
The leading conservative candidate Gholamali Haddad-Adel is in 31st place.
///
The results are a huge setback for hardliners. Two of the most prominent amongst them have lost their seats, and a third is hovering right at the bottom, in danger of being eliminated.
The biggest shock is the poor showing for Ayatollah Mohammad Yazdi, the current chairman of the Assembly. He replaced former President Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani when he was forced to relinquish the role. The irony is that Mr Rafsanjani is now leading the polls in Tehran.
The top ideologue of the hardliners, Ayatollah Mesbah Yazdi has also lost his seat. He is the spiritual guide of a group that includes former President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
The parliamentary result in Tehran is significant because lawmakers from the capital usually determine the political direction of the house, analysts say.
However, reformists look to have done less well in constituencies outside the capital.
Mr Rouhani said on Saturday that the election gave the government more credibility and clout.
“The competition is over. Itâs time to open a new chapter in Iranâs economic development based on domestic abilities and international opportunities,” the official Irna news agency quoted him as saying.
“The people showed their power once again and gave more credibility and strength to their elected government.”
Apparently he says this at every campaign stop. So the comment may be less about SC results and more about the “We know whatâs best for everyone” attitude of his supporters coming from the top down.
O.k. Gonna try to get back to sleep here on the West Coast :-)
Interesting take on Walt Whitman and how he would have viewed Trump. His advice to Americans: “Enter strongly yet into politics. Always inform yourself; always do the best you can; always vote.”
Hope TODville is waking up (or getting ready for bed like amk, 99ts, et. al) to a peaceful, blissful Sunday.
This weekâs #Campaign2016 really depressed me — the white supremacy status quo (WSSQ) really digging in their heels.
So hereâs something to cheer up all those who appreciate looking good in politics (most of the women here in TODville). Should be against the law to look so good behind a podium, LOL — #HatTip to our Meta:

Wow! Iran enters a new era and fully embraces the 21rst century. Hope women of Iran embrace their power and take their rightful place in the leadership of their country.
Bob, I believe it is who she is and her religious (Methodist) roots run deep. I lived in the DC area during the Clinton era and she was a dedicated church goer. Sometimes she dragged Bill along, but often went by herself. The Methodist church she went to was one of the most enlightened in DC with an absolutely stellar minister/preacher and I would often go there just to hear his sermons. Itâs sad, sick and ironic that many so-called Evangelical Christians will support the immoral Donald Trump and label the deeply Christian HRC as a liar. Those who have not eyes to see…
Maybe sheâs slowed down and learned the lesson of authenticity v political posturing. I saw a video of her a few days ago with a young distraught Latino immigrant girl and I was actually moved by her response.
Meta, I saw that video as well and was welling up with tears. Every child who lies awake at night worrying that their parents will be taken from them needs to hear those words-“Let me worry for you.” It means so much to children to know that someone is looking out for them and they are not alone.
This is the only ad they used the last 3 days to close out Nevada last week, Meta. …..Then they released the “voice of god” Morgan Freeman ads on Monday. She has one that is running nationally on all the cable networks (it is cut from 1 min to 30 secs) and the second Morgan Freeman ad is what they ran in SC
There is a new Gabby Giffords ad running in MA & I assume other Super Tuesday states too
I couldnât believe my eyes when I saw that. I just picture Larry Legend winning 3pt contests every year, but never actually thought about his regular season makes :???:
to me these stats are misleading…the caliber of players in Birdsâ era ..(Jordan, Parish, McHale, Kareem, Magic Johnson)were all hall of famers….stats are more than just numbers on a page…you have to look who the player has played against to appreciate the full scope of what those stats mean
She simply is not that good an actress. What she has learned is how to share that. Good for Hillary!
Going back to her first Senate race, she went to all corners of New York state, listening to constituents. This is a significant trait. BS listens to no one unless they are in complete agreement with him.
Bob, this image always leaves me wondering what happened next. Did she leap across, fall into the water and swim ashore? Wish the photographer had not left us hanging.
We all know that @NerdyWonka is the best live tweeter in the twittersphere, and IMO outdid herself in the tweets she published on yesterdayâs overnight thread front page.
Dems who “wish” PBOâs policies were more liberal pretty much align with #Berniebots, which is a non-winning strategy. I havenât sought out MSM tweets this week (because of the battle between schoolyard taunts known as GOP candidates for President), but have heard that Sanders is running low on $$$ and that it looks like the only states which he might eke out a majority of primary votes in the next couple of weeks are Colorado and Minnesota.
Because MSM works as GOP propaganda machine, it seems to surprise them that Dems have a *genuine* affection for Barack Obama (as a person, as the leader of a stellar team of energetic young staff). An Independent who bashes PBO will not win the Democratic nomination for President.
Tweets referenced here are from last nightâs front page (will post embedded tweets below):

And this…
Let's look at this for what this is. Clinton & Sanders supporters are hardened. Only votes left to get are us Obama Democrats. Rest is noise
Thanks, Arapaho, for the tweets and the charts. If, like Sanders, you are building your campaign for the DEMOCRATIC Party nomination on criticism of a beloved, sitting DEMOCRATIC president, you are building a house of cards on top of sand. Itâs my sincerest hope that the Bernie boomlet dies on March 15 and we can get on with the real task of winning the White House and the Senate and making inroads in the US House. Iâm sick of the Bernie whining and sick of the delusional ‘revolutionâ that is made of spun sugar and dreams of unicorns.
I
I wonder who told this smart ass Bernie Sanders and his supporters that they would get Obama Democrats by attacking President Obama? Who sat around in a room and came up with that wise plan?
Oh God, these are heartbreaking stories. I want every one of those Daesh sadists to be beaten into extinction and I want women soldiers to do it. Please let there be a safe haven for these tortured young women and please let them have a chance at a decent life. This makes me furious with rage.
I have to make a confession here: I am enjoying the clown show on the right of everything that is RIGHT in America. I am learning new words, trash words. And, what could top my happy feelings is the certainty that THE DONALD will go nuclear and either 1) run as a third party, or 2) force a brokered convention. Either way, I will be a happy camper…. running to vote for HRC in the general elections, absent any upset from BS and his young, athletic, and smart revolutionaries.
Wretched human being indeed, meta. That so many millions of Americans think this sorry excuse for a human is presidential material fills me with profound sadness.
Donald Trump is a loud filthy mouth sexists, itâs all about me, racists, bully. The rest of the world has to be wondering what the hell is wrong with Americans to even consider electing something like Trump.
I spoke to a friend in Paris yesterday who told me that French people canât believe that this buffoon is the front runner of a major party. The French are in pure disbelief and wondering whether America has lost its marbles. All. Of. Them.
Ever since President Obama backed his former 2008 Hawaii state chair Brian Schatz in the primary to replace Senator Inouyeâs seat and backed Hirono over Tulsi in re-elect she has been all scorched earth. She is Wolf Blitzerâs favorite “Dem” b/c all she does is go on TV and trash all his policy decisions.
I just saw a tweet about Melissa Harris-Perry. She is no longer on MSNBC? What the heck? People talk about the Oscars so white. MSNBC is not only white but leaning right!
Wow! Iâm really disappointed in MSNBC.I wonder if thatâs why we are seeing Tamron Hall everyday on MSNBC. I know she has a morning show on MSNBC but she is also on the Today Show at 9am ET. Maybe some of those black preachers who met with Trump should educate Trump about the KKK. Although I have a feeling the racists Trump donât need any education about the KKK, he is well aware of.
I know many will boycott the Oscars tonight but please DO support #ItsonUs by following them and helping to get out their message. VP is doing some really great work.

Gov. Chris Christieâs endorsement of Donald Trump is giving many people in New Jersey indigestion, but none more than former Gov. Christie Whitman, a Republican who has watched in horror as her party drifted rightward for the last decade.
I have a full column on Christieâs shameless stunt coming tomorrow, but I wanted to share Whitmanâs quotes right away.
First, she says sheâs planning to vote for Hillary Clinton if Trump gets the nod. Sheâs keeping her options open, in case we find out something new and horrible about Hillary. But thatâs her plan now:
“Youâll see a lot of Republicans do that,” Whitman told me. “We donât want to. But I know I wonât vote for Trump.”
The real juice came when I asked her about Christieâs move:
“I am ashamed that Christie would endorse anyone who has employed the kind of hate mongering and racism that Trump has,” she said. “I would have thought being from a diverse state would have given him more awareness and compassion.”

Forgot to include Tweet context with my comment:
The film adaptation of the erotic novel Fifty Shades of Grey has swept the board at the annual Golden Raspberry or Razzie awards in Los Angeles.
Fifty Shades won worst screenplay, and worst actor and actress for Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson.
The duo also won worst screen combo, but Fifty Shades tied for worst film with Fantastic Four.
Eddie Redmayne was named worst supporting actor, a year on from winning the best actor Oscar.

The Razzie awards seem far more interesting and fun than the ponderous boring Oscars.
