They are all absolutely gorgeous, Dudette, including Grandma Robinson. Anywhere they go in the world they bring love and magic with them and nobody is ever the same after meeting them.
Think I heard theyโve rounded up about 200 dissidents today and yesterday (I believe), and not sure if theyโll be released in time to hear the President, although some are on the guest list.
We are so lucky to be able to come here and share this great historic moment with our TOD family. This is our communal living room where love for our President and his family always brings us together.
Stupid Chris and one of his guests are contemplating what will the President do if this happens or that doesnโt happen, etc. The other guest was smart enough to say that every second of this trip has been carefully planned, to the last detail.
Chris is what happens when you send a kid to do a manโs/womanโs job!
Wow! Such an emotional moment. Who would have imagined this day back in the early sixties when fear and threat of nuclear war were everywhere. Fear and communist boogeymen have kept this great moment from happening for over 50 years. Only President Obama has had the courage and the wisdom to move beyond the past. This is what it means to be a great leader. And this is why our Presidentโs legacy has to continue after this year. Hate mongers who would throw us back into a dark past have to be soundly rejected and defeated.
CNNI is reporting that the family of the late mobster Meyer Lansky wants compensation for the hotel Lansky had invested in when Castro seized power and took it over.
Being of a “certain age” I often think about Mrs. Robinson at events like this, and marvel at the arc of her life, and wonder whatโs going through her mind. She has seen and experienced so much, and lived through so much, and experienced such huge change in her life. I know she never dreamed that her Michelle, living on the south side of Chicago, would one day be married to the President of the United States, and that she would travel all over the world with them. Some day, I hope she writes her own story.
I often think of Mrs. Robinson as well in the course of the many earth-shattering firsts that she and her daughterโs family have made. She is a very level-headed lady of no pretensions who, even now, lives her life on her own terms. She raised her kids to be independent, strong and decisive. From what I have been able to pick up over the years, she is not the kind of parent who tries to micro-manage her childrenโs lives in any way. Because she steps back, they want her more involved than she is.
I always look for her in these photos, because I think sheโs seeing it all with the eyes of my generation of women. For her sake, I hope sheโs able to just enjoy and experience it all— Iโm having palpitations just seeing the photos! :)
Just posted a comment which got lost in space. I remarked that I am also glad that the President is visiting Cuba. I visited Cuba, remarkable place. One of the things which amazed me was the fact that they are able to maintain those old vehicles from the fifties.
They really are. I had to switch to CNNI. Theyโve since moved on to coverage of horse breeding - I guess in Saudi Arabia or somewhere near there. A big race coming up.
According to CNN, after the embassy visit, the Presidentโs motorcade will travel down a famed boulevard in Havana … would have to check the schedule to see where heโs going, because - of course - CNN is taking it one mile at a time.
Have a request:
There was a link to a video earlier today of McConnell in Congress demanding a hearing for a presidential nominee.
Cannot find it. Help appreciated. Thanks!
oh thank you Dudette & everyone, for the video and the photos. My son needed the computer for his homework… and just finished ;( So I missed it all live. Completely grateful to all of you for posting the happenings for us :):) .
Damn! ESPN has exclusive coverage! Iโm strictly Over the Air now - no cable. Sooooo not fair that this is exclusive! A historic game like this should be on broadcast TV, or at least made available to all on line.
The only comment I hope to make about Trump tonight … but I heard earlier that when he “speaks” (barks, screeches, yells, lies, insults) at AIPAC this week, thereโs a group of Rabbis who have planned a walkout.
Iโm bursting with pride in my First Family!
Congrats Dudette! Iโm just able to sit down at the computer. Gotta catch up with the NUMBER ONE Family!
Hey there, sabreen! Thanks! Itโs a great day for the world! Cubama has landed! :-D
They are all absolutely gorgeous, Dudette, including Grandma Robinson. Anywhere they go in the world they bring love and magic with them and nobody is ever the same after meeting them.
THIS!
I am as well. This man, this man, this man! How we are blessed to live under the sun of his good governance.
Amen!
Hello TODers!
Lovely! History in the making. A beautiful family to represent the US.
Well, well, well… look who decided to turn their cameras on history in the making!
I WATCHED THIS…WISH IT WERENโT RAINING…HOPING THE SUN COMES OUT WITH A FRESH GREETING SOON!
Hehehe… :)
Bring over from lastโฆ Will post this on every thread…
HELP!!! HELP!!! HELP!!!
Do we have a graphic artist here? If so, could you design a TOD logo that I could repro on buttons, name tags, etc for the June Meet-up in DC?
Hi Alycee, PurpeshoesLA has a brother who can do wonders with your idea. Iโll text her so she can email you. Sheโs flying with me to DC.
OUTSTANDING! Thanks!
Okay, what is ‘CUโ? Cuba airport code?
I think thatโs the two-character country code.
thanks Dudette :)
This is very sad. Iโd imagine this will figure heavily in POTUSโ speech on Tuesday.
Ladies in White is one of the dissident groups the President is planning to meet during his visit to Cuba.
Iโm sure he will, Dudette. There will be rocky, painful moments in the journey ahead for Cuba with their long history of oppression to overcome.
Think I heard theyโve rounded up about 200 dissidents today and yesterday (I believe), and not sure if theyโll be released in time to hear the President, although some are on the guest list.

AMEN Jackie…Amen
It sure is JackieG. Our communal living room :-)
Chris Cuomoโs in Havana, so looks like CNN will be covering the trip, since that guy never shuts up!
Stupid Chris and one of his guests are contemplating what will the President do if this happens or that doesnโt happen, etc. The other guest was smart enough to say that every second of this trip has been carefully planned, to the last detail.

Yeh, he was getting on my nerves. I switched to CNNI.
Good thinking! I just muted. Ha! Gonna pick up online now.
Itโs the daily Mail, hate to give them clicks but they have some good pictures:

TY, Edwina - I loved the fact there were LOTS of pics at the link.
I am really surprised by the news coverage and discussion of the event…..pleasantly surprised
They even had coverage on our local news last night. It was very positive. Was so surprised.
yes
These photos are absolutely amazing. Thank you, Dudette.

Yes, Jackie. We lived through all that fear and threat. Itโs like coming out into the sunlight after being in a tunnel…..thanks PBO!!!
Here is a tweet that chronicled a similar moment
Hey, people! I just got home. Do we have a livestream for events in Cuba? SO HAPPYYYYY!!!!
CNNI is reporting that the family of the late mobster Meyer Lansky wants compensation for the hotel Lansky had invested in when Castro seized power and took it over.
Yes, let me get right on that.
I thought Michael Corleone took care of that in Godfather II?

Oh, I hope that too, Carolyn. What a tale she could write.

Is that a painting or a real scene in Havana? Gorgeous!
I wondered the very same thing. The light is phenomenal.
Iโm in love with most images I see from Cuba, anyway.
Photo or painting? That was my first thought. This is a masterpiece!
Pf posted another gorgeous photo above.
Itโs the real deal jc.
Wow! Gorgeous on so many levels, isnโt it?
The US media - guess we should be thankful they arenโt discussing whether President Trump will open an hotel in Cuba. Pfffffffft
OMG, what a sight!!
Wow!
Amazing!!

Home from work in time to enjoy this historic day with TOD! Thank you Chips!
CNN TVโs current coverage, while the Presidentโs in Cuba, which I have muted, shows the header:
“Trump shakes up Cuban-American politics”
Freakinโ evil turds.
They are useless!
They really are. I had to switch to CNNI. Theyโve since moved on to coverage of horse breeding - I guess in Saudi Arabia or somewhere near there. A big race coming up.
Hunting for another feed on news in Cuba!
Love FLOTUSโ dress!
Love that!
Bigmouth Chris Cuomo is back on live. At least itโs something, although heโs just spouting make-up stuff.
Luckily, he turned it over to a real CNN reporter, in Havana.
“statements to reporters” - guess the US pundits wonโt be able to ask questions about Donald Trump. Smart people in Cuba.
According to CNN, after the embassy visit, the Presidentโs motorcade will travel down a famed boulevard in Havana … would have to check the schedule to see where heโs going, because - of course - CNN is taking it one mile at a time.

AFP video of waiting for and landing. Air Force One fly in starts around 25:38
Skip to minute 44:00 to see the family deplaning. :-)
Thank you Dudette - I slept through most of this
oh thank you Dudette & everyone, for the video and the photos. My son needed the computer for his homework… and just finished ;( So I missed it all live. Completely grateful to all of you for posting the happenings for us :) :) .

Does anyone know if the Tampa Bay Rays/Cuban All-Stars baseball game will be broadcast on Tuesday?
Damn! ESPN has exclusive coverage! Iโm strictly Over the Air now - no cable. Sooooo not fair that this is exclusive! A historic game like this should be on broadcast TV, or at least made available to all on line.
