‘repugnant and reckless obstructionism’

Time: AFSCME President rips Republicans for putting “billionaires ahead of the needs of … America’s middle class” …. suggests sympathy for Obama’s decision.

American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Pres. Gerald W. McEntee made the following statement on the tax compromise:

“Unless Senate Republicans could keep the tax breaks for billionaires, they were willing to raise the taxes of every American working family. They put the interest of billionaires ahead of the needs of millions of unemployed workers and America’s middle class. Their repugnant and reckless obstructionism should now be clear to all. They were willing to do real harm to millions of families if they didn’t get their way. There are no easy choices facing us when GOP senators are willing to sacrifice the middle class in order to protect the interest of Wall Street and the very wealthy. We will continue the fight to require the wealthiest Americans to pay their fair share.”

The indignation is starting…..rethugs will be seen for the evil that they practice. Now, if dems and lefties can get off their high horses and shine the light where it’s needed, we just may have a working democracy.

Lynn, John Kerry was on Meet the Press this past Sunday, and although I no longer watch the program I was grateful to be directed to a video clip of his statements. He did an excellent job of vigorously defending the administration, and calling out the Republicans for their BS. He totally mopped the floor with David Gregory, (which I have to admit, did my heart good). You might find it reassuring, although we definitely need more elected Democrats to take strong public stances. I was so impressed I called his DC office to have his staff convey my gratitude. It also inspired me to write several strongly worded letters to key Republican Senators re the Repeal of DADT, ratification of the Start Treaty, and passing of the DREAM Act. I hope you will give it a look.
