The President may even get a bump when he returns from Europe if the trip continues to go as well as it has. Hopefully more Americans are waking up and realizing what a once in a lifetime, brilliant leader President Obama truly is. I believe history will see him as one of the greatest leaders the world has ever known.
I want to move this comment over here… from our own CEB on the other thread.. I really hope he/she doesnāt mind, but I just think it so perfectly spells out what we heard and saw of our President today- what we all know of him here already, but I for one am finding it difficult to state artfully enough. I watched the stream from whitehouse.gov. One thing that struck me beyond his words was the look in his eyes. There was a humility, a deep sense of caring and seriousness; it seemed at times that he was almost in tears. I could feel the yearning, the desire that he has for all of us in both countries to realize what we have and to share it with others while respecting their differences. He seemed full at the end. This is a man who understands, deeply, the world around him; who has a sense of destiny, but not blind to our past failings and the possibility that we could make the same mistakes if we appproach the rest of the world with arrogance. I know PBO always says that we are the ones that we have been waiting for, but I must respectfully disagree with him to a certain point; He is the leader that we have been waiting for; truly transformative in a way that invites all to be better so that we can all thrive. How blessed we are.
Sherijr, Thank you so much for reposting this beautiful comment from CEB. What heartfelt beautiful words and what a Godsend we have in your extraordinary President. As I say often we are ALL blessed to have such a man as your leader, I know the POTUS is always known as the ‘leader of the free worldā but President Barack Obama is truly the leader of the free world in every way.
PBOās speech today was truly historic - first US President to address both houses of parliament and WHAT A SPEECH! I was so moved by it. The other historic event today has been our usually snitty media who often look for negative were all so postive and respectful of PBO. Only one insignificant woman - a daily fail (oops sorry daily mail) reporter was talking out of her you know where!) What an embarrassment! Still the rest of the media for once have behaved.
To returm to CEBās elequent post - I wholeheartedly agree with the last line ‘ He is the leader that we have been waiting for…ā
AWESOME.
Hey Sam- thanks for that update on the media… and I so very much agree with you in regards to our President, he truly is something we havenāt seen in almost forever: a real world leader. Iām so glad for the outpouring of respect and regard he is receiving in both Britian and Ireland- thank YOU :)
Just heard Debbie Wasserman-Schultz briefly with Andrea Mitchell (yes, I know…..) but Debbie is SO strong! She supported the president full bore on Israel, and set the NY-26 election clearly for what it was; she lets noone get by her! The Republican advocates are trying to say Hochul was outspent…..WRONG!!! Debbie didnāt let anyone get by with that.
Iād like to make just one snarky comment: I saw NOONE texting during the Presidentās speech!!! They paid attention, and therefore, will actually know what he said, instead of deciding beforehand what he is going to say, then commenting on their own idea and missing it all.
Iām still amazed that the press and Republicans landed on just 13 seconds of the Presidentās Middle East speech, and ignored the rest! That part was so small, I hardly noticed it as I listened, and I listened to every word. He said SO much else…..
I believe we will see slow, steady growth in his approval ratings. Ever the optimist, I see people finally beginning to catch on to him, and that he represents the best in us, not the worst.
For so long our lower natures have been appealed to, and the President is always appealing to our better angels. This is quite an adjustment.
Oh No!!! Look at those tumbling numbers! Poor, poor PBO. The embarrassment of it all.

There goes the Irish-American bump! :-)
IS FEIDIR LINN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Any why is he not at at least 80%? What other President has been this great as a leader, orator, family man, scholar, . . . need I go on.

AS THE PRESIDENT HAS SAID TIME AND AGAIN THAT “CHANGE” IS NEVER EASY!!!
Those who are disapproving, what exactly are they disapproving? Haters much!
So many brilliant comments here today - I have nothing new to add, except to say - Thanks.
