A little OT. FLOTUS is headed to Maine for a fundraiser. I really like the rules for people commenting at the end of the article.
The Bangor Daily News encourages comments about stories, but you must follow our terms of service.
In brief:
1.Keep it civil and stay on topic
2.No vulgarity, racial slurs, name-calling or personal attacks.
3.People who harass others or joke about tragedies will be blocked.
The primary rule here is pretty simple: Treat others with the same respect you’d want for yourself.

Everytime I see footage of those events it still shocks me that they took place and wasn’t some alternate universe debacle. Those people have no heart.
The fact that “not one candidate” spoke up is evidence of how far right, how radicalized, how extremely hateful the Republican Party has become. There does not seem to be a spot of decency in any of them. The gap between President Obama and any of these candidates could not be wider, the differences more stark. The choice has never been more clear. I just shake my head because this shouldn’t even be a contest.
What do you want to bet that in the next debate ( :( ) they’ll all be falling over themselves to speak out if a similar situation arises? To show leadership. Like McCain did during his campaign - (probably) after the Alaska barbie had been called out. GOP candidates have no decency meter; they’re just puppets channeling prescribed ideologies and emotions, the latter only after it’s been called to their attention. The choice indeed has NEVER been clearer, and I’m fervently hoping the American people will blast that message out in November 2012.
They can just keep adding to this list. Add Rick Scott bragging about laying off 15,000 Americans who happen to be public servants - even though many of those public servants are also veterans. Add Michele Bachmann saying that a US company is making a drug that causes mental retardation for young girls (this may be true or false, but she didn’t offer a shred of evidence). Add Republicans voting against every measure put forward to heal this country, including funding for veterans and 9/11 first responders. Add footage of GOP calling public employees and union members “parasites” and “losers”. Add all the racist comments directed towards the President of the United States, including Congress applauding a foreigner on the House floor who was in the process of disrespecting the Head of State of this country through lies. The list could go on and on.
Nor will they. Ever.
They sure won’t Tally and Chips. It is a shame.

SMH at the fact that some people will do ANYTHING to achieve something they don’t deserve.
