The White House press office statement read: “The President’s thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends, and colleagues of Laura Pollán, the founder of Las Damas de Blanco, who passed away Friday in Havana. Pollán and the quiet dignity of the Ladies in White have courageously voiced the core desire of the Cuban people and of people everywhere to live in liberty. Through their brave actions, the Ladies in White draw attention to the plight of those who are unjustly held in Cuba’s prisons and pushed Cuban authorities to release those political prisoners wrongly jailed in the Spring of 2003.
Since the beginning of the Administration we have worked to reach out to the Cuban people in support of their desire to freely determine their future and Cuba’s future. We will continue that work in Pollán’s memory.”
Chips, thanks for posting the MC Yogi video. Like you, it is my most loved too. Nothing transports me back to the election more than that video. I would play it incessantly. It is truly brilliant. It really gives me chills to hear it now. The sentiments in the video still apply, It is our rallying cry for 2012.
Obama junkie here, too, and I thought I was the only one who hadn’t seen it before. Wonderful memories of the ’08 campaign; can’t wait for ’12, when it’s 4 more for 44 and President Obama wins in a landslide. And that WILL happen - mark my words.
I spent most of my day working in the yard, but as always, I checked in many times today….so many goodies. I love you, Chips.Truly. Thank you so much for all you do for all of us.
Last night I watched Lawrence O’Donnell interview Michael Moore about the OWS movement. Michael Moore loves to keep saying that he wants to see a perpwalks. No one on Wall Street has gone to jail. It’s a travesty. Lawrence just let him spout this nonsense. He played a of clip of Tim Geither saying that there had been some prosecutions. But they both pooh poohed that.
I sent Lawrence the brilliant post from The Peoples View by Deaneac83 entitled “Why won’t he perpwalk them!!!”. The post explains exactly why there have not been the perpwalks to satisfy Michael Moore . Bottom line, there were NO REGULATIONS during the Bush administration. It was a free for all. It was essentially legalized gambling. Some of the activities were immoral and unethical but not necessary against the law. President Obama said as much in his press conference. Has everyone gotten temporary amnesia about that important fact??
I really thought that Lawrence and Michel Moore were being incredibly disingenuous with the perpwalk nonsense. Leave it to them to overlook the fact that the very reason we need Dodd-Frank (which the Republicans are blocking) is so that there are laws in place with rules that must be followed. With the implementation of Dogg-Frank, it will be easier to prosecute the lawbreakers. I give up on the lazy media.
So glad that you did that, Ladyhawke. I read that brilliant piece by Deaniac and should have thought of that myself:) But since we ARE the kindred spirits that we are…I’m SO glad that you picked up the slack for me and sent that to LOD:) I watched that too…seemingly smart people…why didn’t THEY know that???? Lazy is an understatement.
Yes, Ladyhawke, it’s sad to see them being paid to do their jobs, when you could do a better job! Thanks for following up on this.
Lawrence and the rest of them keep insisting on having MM on - I guess to prove they are all lefties together. MM is a big windbag whose 15 minutes of fame were up around the time Nader’s original 15 minutes were. I wish he’d go home.
It’s all about the MONEY…the media doesn’t care about facts, what’s legal, what’s not legal, what’s fair, what’s right. You might as well “give up on the lazy media”…they are all about the money.
The Supreme Court ruled that the news does not have to present facts. They ruled in favor of faux noise when they fired the last real journalists on their payroll because they would not falsify a report. They sued and when it went to the SCOTUS the journalist lost. All the rest apparently decided that they can not get sued for not telling the truth.
This is just a bullshyte excuse to keep the focus and anger on the President while ignoring the CURRENT antics of the Republicans in congress who are trying to water down or prevent any regulation legislation proposed by the President and Democrats. The media is full of it. I keep saying that if OWS doesn’t get it’s act together and ends up enabling the GOP in 2012, they are just as bad (or worse) than the baggers.
I once worked at a Navy organization that had an old chain link fence around it for security, but the barbed wire thingie at the top was facing the wrong way. We used to joke that they were keeping us from escaping during the work week, rather than keeping trespassers out.
I’m thinking if we ever had a “Herb” Cain in the White House, they’d have to install this electrified border fence to keep us in the country.
He is definitely a sorry bastard. Seems to have less of a heart than even Romney or Perry.
I saw that the White House was going to call her with the particulars. I DO feel like I’m “in” on it:) We can all live vicariously through Donna, just this once! I can’t imagine what this will feel like to her….holy moly:)
Former New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine (D), Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour and movie producers Harvey Weinstein and Jeffrey Katzenberg each bundled more than $500,000 for Obama. In total, 41 bundlers broke the $500,000 mark.
Note the “+” after the $500,000. I’m sure some of them raised 1 million, easy. Jeffrey Katzenberg, head of DreamWorks? Yeah, I’m sure his buds ponied up over a million, VERY easy…
El Paso, Texas (CNN) — A brigade of U.S. troops originally scheduled to be among the very last to leave Iraq is being pulled out of the country months ahead of its planned departure, military officials said Saturday.
The announcement follows news this month that a deal to keep American troops in Iraq past a December 31, 2011, deadline to withdraw was on shaky ground after Iraqi leadership said any remaining U.S. forces would not be granted immunity from Iraqi prosecution. Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta and other top brass have repeatedly said any deal to keep U.S. troops in Iraq beyond the withdrawal deadline must require a guarantee of legal protection for American soldiers.
Thanks Chips for Hey! My all time favorite along with Yes We Can. We all tell you how blessed we are my your dedication and spirit to have this supportive community in which we can join together to support PBO and the future of our country. I know many agree since you are rapidly approaching 5 million hits!
Please especially remember this and celebrate it during the truly miraculous day of Sunday 16 Oct 2025 as millions (I dare say billions) celebrate the promise, the passion, the treasure of Rev/Dr Martin Luther King Jr:

Sleep well, Chipsticks! We’ll be “quiet” (somewhat), while you’re resting!

If they admitted that it would take away their talking point.
Sorry bastard.

Did we find out when the President was going to give Donna a call??? (seems funny to even type that!)
Last I recall hearing, she was waiting for the exact date. I feel as though I’m “in” on it, don’t you?
I saw that the White House was going to call her with the particulars. I DO feel like I’m “in” on it:) We can all live vicariously through Donna, just this once! I can’t imagine what this will feel like to her….holy moly:)
Anybody see this?? http://blog.reidreport.com/2011/10/collapse-of-the-emoprogs/#more-26698
LOOK at all these people that raised 50-100k dollars for the President:

I saw that:) Amazing!
Wow, 40 people raised 1more than /2 mil. That’s more than 20mil already. Cool. These people can raise more or is there a cap ?
They can keep raising more, finding more people to donate.
Note the “+” after the $500,000. I’m sure some of them raised 1 million, easy. Jeffrey Katzenberg, head of DreamWorks? Yeah, I’m sure his buds ponied up over a million, VERY easy…
