Thanks for asking, VC, actually doing pretty well, but not much has changed, as far as work. Things are going slowly toward improvement with the lady, but some days are just hard. I don’t do much except work, read TOD, and try to keep up with my daily chores, and of course following Denea right now. But, I am so blessed to have work I love, and have aptitude for, I really cannot find anything to complain about! Well, except the Republican Party…… But, spreading the word for Obama~Biden, so many Democrats here, lots of bumper stickers and yard signs… S’all good!

You know, old gurl, your idea of not doing much makes me shudder. ;) When I say I’m not doing much you better believe I don’t have a list of four or so things I AM doing. Yup - I stopped listening to Thom Hartmann shortly after the health care debate, because he was so bitter about the lack of a public option and it was anti-Obama almost all the time. I’m glad to hear that he’s come around to looking at the alternative, and putting his fantasies to the side for the election year.
I used to listen to Thom Hartman (“the super intelligent liberal guy”) on the radio and he consistently bashed President Obama. in 2009 and 2010. I stopped listening to his radio program as I did to all the purity progressives. So I don’t know what he’s been up to the past two years. But AMK is absolutely right: Hartmann was one of the PL pundits who constantly bashed President Obama for not being as progressive as FDR and Thomas Jefferson. The same was true of Bill Press whose idol was LBJ. Cenk Uygur and Arianna Huffington are, of course, worse than Hartmann. But then again, we know that they were both right wing Republicans before they became the icons of the holier than thou progressives.
In any case, since I know a bit about the dark side of the Icons of of Hartmann and his fellow purity progressives, I stopped listening to his radio show. If he is now supporting the President, I welcome him back. On the other hand, “a super intelligent liberal guy” who is so in love with Thomas Jefferson that he ignores Jefferson’s slave holding record and Jefferson;s pseudo scientific racism, which is still at the heart of modern racism, does not impress me very much. Please don’t give the excuse about what historians call “the climate of the times.” Many slave holders, in Virginia and Maryland, who were transformed by the enlightenment, took seriously Thomas Jefferson’s words in the Declaration of Independence -“we hold these truths to be self evident that all men are created equal”-and freed their slaves. But not Thomas Jefferson, who upon his death his hundreds of slaves were auctioned off to pay his debts. Thom Hartmann may well be ” a super intelligent liberal guy” but from my vantage point he puts on blinders when it comes to critically examining his heroes in history - and in particular Thomas Jefferson.

Amk, I am with you! I am not Indian but I am absolutely biased when it comes to Indian food! We have some good Indian restaurants here in San Diego. But the best Indian food I tasted was in London. I am sure it’s even better in India. Nothing wakes up your taste buds as Indian curries, both vegetarian and meat dishes. And I just love Nan(I don’t think I spelled that right) bread. My dream is to visit India one of these days.

Every state has its special cuisine with a different taste, flavor and preparation. And my state (Tamilnadu) is the tops in that. We have the sweetest of sweets to spiciest of spicy. If you come to India, it will be my pleasure to treat you and your family. :)

I saw a headline on that page that said something about Grover telling GOP not to compromise on Bush Tax Cuts. Who is making a deal, anyway? If nobody does anything, then the tax cuts expire. She was worried we would not want her because she is a Republican. I assured her we were happy to have her & let her know we have republicans, Independents, Libertarians and Democrats alike supporting President Obama. I gave her the FO’s # and told her the FO would call to schedule a 1:1.”

I saw the President at the Franklin Institute yesterday. It was so exciting to be around such an enthusiastic crowd, even in the rain.

True story. Had a mango and pineapple fruit salad the other day. My arugula was on the same plate and accidentally mixed together with the fruit salad. Pretty good.
I was looking at the earlier posts and loved the one of the students at the science school. (it show a side view of PBO with the main focus on the graduating students) What struck me about it was the total mix of students. I remember not so long ago a picture like that would have been mostly asian and caucasion male students. This picture had them with a nice mix of females of all persuasions as well as young men of color.
Remember the uproar over the science loving Barbie doll? Or how young men of color in inner city schools didn’t get good science classes…or scores?
The point being ‘the times they are achanging’. No I am not advocating for or have any desire to see LESS young white or asian men. I’m just happy to see MORE females (of all stripes) and men of color in the mix. Hopefully we’ll soon see more handicapped men and women in the mix the next time around. Together they will build a more just and welcoming world.

The WH needs to expose the treason that was plotted the night our President was sworn into office. It would be great if 20/20 or 60 minutes did an investigation into this meeting that took place. How many millions of Americans have been harmed by the actions of the Republican Party? Have they answered? They need to be thrown out of office….can charges be brought against them?

After months of messy crowds, tent cities and confrontations with police calm has returned to two parks in downtown Washington.
Occupy DC and its supporters filled McPherson Square off K Street in downtown Washington demanding economic justice for the now-famous 99 percent. The demonstrators frequently took to city streets in the middle of afternoon rush hours to make their points, but now quiet has returned. The demonstrators gone.
Truly a waste. They didn’t want any advice. Attacked the people who were working to help them. And ended up frustrating themselves an everyone else. Somehow, they thought they invented protesting.

The ‘job creators’ in the health care industry, once the product of health is affordable to everyone. The ‘freedom’ to keep your home if your child has a preexisting condition. That everyone coming into the system ‘frees’ society from the crushing burden of uncared for illnesses. A healthy society is a productive society.

Thanks for asking, VC, actually doing pretty well, but not much has changed, as far as work. Things are going slowly toward improvement with the lady, but some days are just hard. I don’t do much except work, read TOD, and try to keep up with my daily chores, and of course following Denea right now. But, I am so blessed to have work I love, and have aptitude for, I really cannot find anything to complain about! Well, except the Republican Party…… But, spreading the word for Obama~Biden, so many Democrats here, lots of bumper stickers and yard signs… S’all good!
I like the ‘slowly toward improvement’ part as that’s the best direction. You know, old gurl, your idea of not doing much makes me shudder. ;) When I say I’m not doing much you better believe I don’t have a list of four or so things I AM doing. Yup - I stopped listening to Thom Hartmann shortly after the health care debate, because he was so bitter about the lack of a public option and it was anti-Obama almost all the time. I’m glad to hear that he’s come around to looking at the alternative, and putting his fantasies to the side for the election year.
I used to listen to Thom Hartman (“the super intelligent liberal guy”) on the radio and he consistently bashed President Obama. in 2009 and 2010. I stopped listening to his radio program as I did to all the purity progressives. So I don’t know what he’s been up to the past two years. But AMK is absolutely right: Hartmann was one of the PL pundits who constantly bashed President Obama for not being as progressive as FDR and Thomas Jefferson. The same was true of Bill Press whose idol was LBJ. Cenk Uygur and Arianna Huffington are, of course, worse than Hartmann. But then again, we know that they were both right wing Republicans before they became the icons of the holier than thou progressives.
In any case, since I know a bit about the dark side of the Icons of of Hartmann and his fellow purity progressives, I stopped listening to his radio show. If he is now supporting the President, I welcome him back. On the other hand, “a super intelligent liberal guy” who is so in love with Thomas Jefferson that he ignores Jefferson’s slave holding record and Jefferson;s pseudo scientific racism, which is still at the heart of modern racism, does not impress me very much. Please don’t give the excuse about what historians call “the climate of the times.” Many slave holders, in Virginia and Maryland, who were transformed by the enlightenment, took seriously Thomas Jefferson’s words in the Declaration of Independence -“we hold these truths to be self evident that all men are created equal”-and freed their slaves. But not Thomas Jefferson, who upon his death his hundreds of slaves were auctioned off to pay his debts. Thom Hartmann may well be ” a super intelligent liberal guy” but from my vantage point he puts on blinders when it comes to critically examining his heroes in history - and in particular Thomas Jefferson.

Amk, I am with you! I am not Indian but I am absolutely biased when it comes to Indian food! We have some good Indian restaurants here in San Diego. But the best Indian food I tasted was in London. I am sure it’s even better in India. Nothing wakes up your taste buds as Indian curries, both vegetarian and meat dishes. And I just love Nan(I don’t think I spelled that right) bread. My dream is to visit India one of these days.

Every state has its special cuisine with a different taste, flavor and preparation. And my state (Tamilnadu) is the tops in that. We have the sweetest of sweets to spiciest of spicy. I saw a headline on that page that said something about Grover telling GOP not to compromise on Bush Tax Cuts. Who is making a deal, anyway? If nobody does anything, then the tax cuts expire. The only way they’ll be extended is if the GOP come to the table to negotiate for them. Grover’s crazy. I don’t think they realize that most people want the rich to pay more.

I was looking at the earlier posts and loved the one of the students at the science school. (it show a side view of PBO with the main focus on the graduating students) What struck me about it was the total mix of students. I remember not so long ago a picture like that would have been mostly asian and caucasion male students. This picture had them with a nice mix of females of all persuasions as well as young men of color.
Remember the uproar over the science loving Barbie doll? Or how young men of color in inner city schools didn’t get good science classes…or scores?
The point being ‘the times they are achanging’. No I am not advocating for or have any desire to see LESS young white or asian men. I’m just happy to see MORE females (of all stripes) and men of color in the mix. Hopefully we’ll soon see more handicapped men and women in the mix the next time around. Together they will build a more just and welcoming world.

OK, it just may be me, and I’ve been wanting to say something for quite some time now, but how long has it been that PBO’s been doing that bite the bottom lip thing he does. Looking at the country results on TPM - the red ones are 100% in - so Barber can only do better than his current 52.7% (if I’m reading the map correctly)

You’ll see Pinal County only had 2 precincts to count, Santa Cruz county had only 5 precincts, Cochise had 64 precincts to count, but Pima had the largest by FAR — 281 precincts. So far, counting is complete for 233 of 281 precincts.
By the way, turnout across all 4 counties has been only 45.5% of registered voters.

Reading the George Lakoff article yesterday, he makes a point about reclaiming words that the Repubs have coopted, like ‘freedom’. There has been no selling of what’s coming in 2014: the ‘freedom’ to be an entrepreneur by eliminating the ‘burden’ of crushing health care costs or staying at a dead end job to keep health care. The ‘job creators’ in the health care industry, once the product of health is affordable to everyone. The ‘freedom’ to keep your home if your child has a preexisting condition. That everyone coming into the system ‘frees’ society from the crushing burden of uncared for illnesses. A healthy society is a productive society.
When this President decides to sell something, it sells despite the evil MSM and the lies.
