What a beautiful day.

Am I? Squeeeeee! (If I am.)
 I can barely see this, but it looks like I squeezed through.
Chips honey, if you keep the font at this size, you’ll soon have to be supplying magnifying glasses, even to those of us already wearing glasses!
I don’t think it’s the font. If you talking about how the page looks on phones, it’s been that way for me for quite a while. Might have something with the way the page is rendered. Don’t know what setting would need to change, but it’s whatever will cause the page to adjust according to the size of the screen on whatever device it’s on. Resolution? Zoom level? Something.
This font is excellent on ipad2.
Oh crikey, is it MightyP? Help? What do I do? It’s fab for some, a nightmare for others!!!
Update Chipsticks: Sprint says it not the fault of the phone.
My problems have not improved. Thread opens grey, and when I click on Comments, I lose the pics & words and the Leave a Comment section is a mixture of pink and white and I have to scroll right to see the whole comment or tweet. :-(
Ditto to GGail, but that is only on iPhone. does not happen on iPad. Sent you some screen caps, and a {{{{{Chipsticks}}}}}
Oh, I have no phones, iphone, ipads, or any of those thingies. On my laptop it is clearly the font. Everything else works well, but tonight the actual letters are much smaller, like the size 8 on Times New Roman. In fact, even my WH Flickr pics to the right are miniscule, in comparison to the way they were before.
it is the font. have trouble with my laptop but Chips is working on it.
Congrats VC! I missed your last victory :-)

Thanks Dudette - I love Dave Brubeck and especially this cut! “That’s a JAM”
This day will be one I will remember the rest of my life. I remember well the taking of the hostages in Tehran in 1979. One of the hostages was the son of a dear friend. We followed every event religiously. Do any of the rest of you remember that this is why and how Nightline started? I was sorry to see it leave.
When I worked in the Senate,(1962) the administrative ass’t came back to the pool where I was and asked if anyone wanted to attend a joint session to hear the Shah of Iran speak. I was lowest person in seniority. I watched….no one raised her hand. I couldn’t believe it….finally, when no one answered, and the offer was about to be withdrawn, I said timorously, “I would.” And, so , little lowly newly hired me got to see and hear the Shah. But more impressive than the Shah (he was very short, but had a magnificent uniform) was his absolutely gorgeous wife, sitting next to Mrs. Dean Rusk, across from me in the gallery. She was tall elegant, and was wearing the most beautiful light blue silk coat…..
Throughout this Iran negotiation, I have been thinking of the Book of Esther, in the O.T. There is a verse when Esther does not want to do what her Uncle Mordecai wants her to do…..it is a fearful task. Mordecai says to her: ” Who knows whether it is not for such a time as this you have come to the kingom.” This is how I feel about PBO. It is for such a time as this, including many more, that he has “come to the kingdom.” These negotiations could not have come about with anyone else in the White House, and as several have commented, this today, and resultant negotiations, has been in his mind since at least 2009, probably 2007.
Wonderful post, carolyn.
That’s an amazing personal story carolyn and thanks for sharing it. The world is truly blessed to have Barack Hussein Obama leading it. There will have to be a new peace prize for those who come after him named the “Obama Peace Prize”.
Beautiful memories, carolyn. I remember this time as well…and as so many of us here have said and felt for so many years…this man is THE man to guide us, not just our country, but our world at this time. He “has come to the kingdom” to be sure. We are witness to history and have been, for all these many years. Heaven forbid that I should die this day, I will have be so honored to live in the years of Obama. A smile on my face and pride in my heart. I’m not religious…but we are blessed and I am more than grateful.
With that, I must check in with all of you later…my friends flew in from IN and I’m off to drink my dinner! ( Oral surgery, remember? :)….Doctor didn’t say I couldn’t have my G&T!! Cheers to two Presidents!)
Beautifully, beautifully stated, Carolyn. Only, only with President Obama could this day happen. This was his vision and he has worked for it from day 1.
Wonderful carolyn - thank you.
After President Obama made the announcement of the phone call, these words came into my mind and heart “if God/Allah is for us, who can be against us”?
Beautiful, carolyn. Thank you.
President Barack Obama! His name elicits trust, joy, peace, quiet warrior, an honest broker…. are there enough words to describe PBO? I can’t keep up with his awesomeness. I have been skipping around all day… I am quite speechless. What a man!
Sure lives up to his name, doesn’t he?
Barack - One who is blessed (and as President, is a blessing to us all)
Absolutely! What a blessing TOD is! One day I will catch up with all the posts :).
So glad someone else knows the English equivalent of his name. In the Hebrew O.T., Barak (same name, different spelling) was a judge, an honest leader of his people. Hmmmmm…….his mom knew what she was doing when she named him. It is indeed a name with a LONG and honorable history.
Just one more personal tidbit…..names are important as we all know. My husband’s first name is Darwin…..I love it. I think it is elegant. Growing up he hated it. People called him Dagwood, Durwood, etc. However, we know the provenance of that name, and it is great. Now, fortunately, where we go to church everyone thinks it is a magnificent name. One of the dear ladies said to me last week: “I would just love to be able to tell people my professor’s name is Darwin……..” (He was a professor.)
I would say PBO has lived up to his name.
Remember this?
***
Traveling though Montana … Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., made his first stop as a presidential candidate to an Indian reservation – and got a little more than expected.
Obama was adopted as an honorary member into the family within the Crow tribe that inhabited the reservation – who gave the presidential candidate a new name and new parents.
“Awe Kooda bilaxpak Kuuxshish” was the honorary name given to Obama meaning, “one who helps people throughout the land.”
Obama was escorted out to the stage in Crow Agency, Montana, arm-in-arm between his adopted parents: Sunny and Mary Black Eagle.
Obama thanked his honorary new parents – for giving him another name to tack on to the list, “I like my new name Barack Black Eagle. I mean that’s a good name.”

Quite the chilvalrous gentleman. ;-)
Hey, I tried to be nice. You don’t have to insult me. I have never chivaled anybody.
Yea right
/whisper/ Dudette, did you forget to give him my message? Did you, eh, did you?
Huh, whatcha talkin’ ’bout? I thought you meant Jovie! :-D
Ooooo. Sorry I wasn’t clear. I wasn’t aware you were unaware of the first sword thrust.
……..
I sent Jovie a different note earlier.
America, we, the people from the rest of the world, sincerely love and profoundly respect your president and his family. May God bless, prosper, guide and protect them always.
Thank you! We love him, too.
Connelly, a 22-year-old student at Rutgers University, heard about it only the next day when a friend messaged him on Facebook to tell him the news — and he was not exactly thrilled. In fact, he is supportive of the law and has already reaped some of the benefits of the ACA, often referred to by its detractors as “Obamacare.”
“Maybe he should’ve spent less time reading Dr. Seuss and more time looking into the policies that he’s talking about,” Connelly said, referring to Cruz reading from Dr. Seuss’ children’s book “Green Eggs and Ham” during his speech.
This is the most cogent and articulate formulation I’ve heard from any Gov. about the benefits of the ACA. Even better, it is after he trashed Mitch McConnell and Rand Paul, to their face a few weeks ago.
And that’s my Governor. Smart man!

President Obama in 2008 said he saw himself as a transitional President. Doesn’t seem glamorous but in a way he is spring-cleaning 20th century gunk that makes no sense on both Foreign Policy and Domestic fronts.
He’s doing the hard work necessary for the 21st century generations to build up our future on a clean slate, not bogged down in stupid conflicts from the 20th century.
Remarkable, really
Yes, zizi, and he had a “fierce urgency” about what needed to be done if the US was not going to sink into a morass in the 21rst century from which it might never recover.

Coming up on Sunday:
Republicans are pouting because this historic day took all the oxygen out of the air for their little whine fest. They thought they could undermine the historic call with the Iranian president with little snipes about PBO not calling Boehner. But nobody cares what they think and the White House is flicking their little complaints right off the table. The president told Republicans what needs to be done. They need to do their jobs and there’s is no negotiating. End of story. The saboteurs in the House are like so many termites trying mightily to eat away at the ship of state. But the world honors the captain of the ship, the once-in-a-lifetime leader who knows exactly the course he’s set and is steadily guiding us in the right direction. In the immortal words of the great Joe Biden, today was a BFD.
Unlike the GOP troupe that focuses on one thing at a time, the arms of the Obama Admin all seem to be working efficiently and effectively in the areas where they are assigned., moving forward step by step by step. (This is from the Dept. of Justice.)
The Third Annual Summit on Preventing Youth Violence
September 27th, 2013 Posted by whornbuckle
Courtesy of Assistant Attorney General Karol Mason
For the past two days an extraordinary group of people gathered to understand and to develop strategies to address a serious and complicated problem: the surge in violence committed by and – perhaps more troubling – against our young people.
The impact of this violence is greater than it appears on the surface. We can see the immediate physical damage it does, and we know it causes emotional trauma in the kids it touches. But we don’t always appreciate the full toll it takes on a child’s body and mind and on the families and communities he or she belongs to. A growing body of research in developmental psychology and neuroscience is showing us that trauma does great harm to the brain and can have life-long consequences. But there is good news, too. Just as research is showing us the extent of the negative effects of violence, it is also shedding new light on what we can do to counter those effects.
Attorney General Eric Holder and Director of the White House Domestic Policy Council Cecilia Munoz stressed the Administration’s commitment to this crucial issue as they opened the third annual Summit on Preventing Youth Violence, where mayors, police chiefs and youth from 10 cities shared their strategies to reduce violence and gang activity and mitigate its impact on our children.

Did I miss this earlier?
(Reuters) - Iran resumed payments on old loans to the World Bank, the bank said on Friday, just as the country held the highest level conversation with the United States in more than three decades.
The poverty-fighting World Bank, which did not provide a reason for the resumption of payments, announced in July that Iran had not made any payments for more than half a year, a possible sign of the strain on the sanctions-hit Iranian economy.
