President Barack Obama arrived in Afghanistan on Sunday for a previously undisclosed meeting with soldiers stationed there. NBC News reported Obama’s arrival at noon eastern.
Reuters reports that President Obama will speak to the troops, receive a military briefing, and visit wounded soldiers at Bagram Air Force Base. Obama left for Afghanistan from Andrews Air Force Base on Saturday night.
Country music star Brad Paisley is with the President, and will be performing for the troops.
OMGosh, the soldiers from America’s heartland could not ask for a better entertainer than Brad Paisley to mark Memorial Day 2014. It’s something that they will tell their grandchildren.
As a country music fan myself, hats off to Brad Paisley, who was a source of controversy for his accidental racist song.
I say give the guy a break, his intent was not malicious, he composed the song from his own POV.
That’s why courses on white privilege should be required from elementary school forward. Both whites and people of color would see and interact differently with each other after hearing diverse POVs.

BAGRAM AIR FIELD, AFGHANISTAN — President Obama secretly slipped into Afghanistan under the cover of darkness Sunday for a weekend visit with U.S. troops serving in the closing months of America’s longest war.
Air Force One landed at Bagram Air Field, the main U.S. base in Afghanistan, after an overnight flight from Washington. Obama was scheduled to spend just a few hours on the base and had no plans to travel to Kabul, the capital, to meet with Hamid Karzai, the mercurial president who has had a tumultuous relationship with the White House.
Just turned on the radio, which reports that damn emoprogs are marching today to DEMAND that President Obama bring the troops home from Afghanistan.
