Be polite and respectful when stopped by the police. Do not, under any circumstances, get into an argument with the police. Keep your hands in plain sight. Make sure the police can see your hands at all times. Stay calm and remain in control. Watch your words, body language and emotions. “Your goal is to get home safely.”

the tweet about the 10 things to do when stopped by the police reminds me of the JIM CROW era …when blk men had to walk with lowered eyes in the presence of white men,,,to always call them sir…and to never ever look at or speak to a white woman….

sooooo very angry at the BS surrounding the President’s speech at the Prayer Breakfast…we are supposed to forget our past and how there are so many incidences of the past in the present….they do not get to set the table…and then decide what food is to be served and who gets to eat…..NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I have no doubt that the meetings in Munich, with leadership particularly from VP Biden who has been articulate on the need to support Kurdistan and to face the reality that Iraq’s stability requires a restructuring, are going to lead to a significant shift in our support for the Kurds and for a cooperative governmental structure in Iraq.

VP Biden always said to section off Iraq in 3 and Kurds having their own nation. Not accepted by the Shia’s.

An independent Kurdish state seems like one of the most equitable outcomes for that area, but will be met with resistance from those countries which include indigenous Kurds — Iran, Iraq, Syria and Turkey.

Would love to see this happen, though, and am thrilled that @VP Biden is steering the US course as it relates to liberating the Kurdish people.

      Emirati would be UAE?

One day this week half of the WHPC assaulted @PressSecretary about UAE having stopped airstrikes against Daesh. Jackals is too good a term for them — they are so rude to Josh Earnest, who nothing but polite and provides articulate answers without any uhs, ers or stumbling. He is a keeper, hope his loyalty to PBO is like @JonFavs, not like some other former aides.

The WHPC rudeness about a fluid situation where lives are in the balance absolutely drives me nuts. They truly seek to #BlameObama for absolutely everything that happens on the face of the earth — as if the UAE is incapable of making its own decisions.

Now the WHPC will have to find something else to #BlameObama for.

    Jeez.

Just heard this on the radio, 7 victims (including children) in GA with 5 confirmed dead.
    http://www.cbsnews.com/news/deadly-shooting-in-georgia-with-children-among-victims/

Wasn’t it in GA that a man shot and killed 5 family members last week? (Please correct me if I’ve forgotten the state where that shooting occurred — I heard a single report on the radio and saw very little mention online about that shooting.)

If you Google “Georgia shooting” you are helpfully offered “Georgia shooting today” as one of the pre-fill options — I guess mass shootings are a daily occurrence there.

Mass shootings are becoming the daily norm in this country, yet there is zero pushback by the MSM on the NRA when literally thousands of US lives are forfeited every year because of this country’s infantile obsession with a provision that was important 250 years ago.

MSM loves to stir up trouble and debate over Dem foreign policy (yet give the GOP a free pass) and fleeting domestic issues such as gas prices, the stock market, etc., but don’t have the time of day to challenge GOP positions on things that have an enduring impact on everyday Americans such as education, health insurance, immigration, infrastructure, upticks in job openings, etc. — again, a free pass to the GOP.

Sorry to hear that your cousin is in that town — but sadly/shockingly, there’s probably no town of any size in the lower 48 which hasn’t been affected by fatal multiple shootings in the last 20 years or so.

The problem the media has with the lies Brian Williams told and the lies chuck todd and Joe Scarborough tell is this: Brian lied in an effort to self-aggrandize, which had no benefit for the 1%ers/GOP/corporations. He also badly damaged his credibility, so his use as a propagandist has been compromised. chuck todd, Scarborough and Lara Logan all lie to advance the GOP cause by attempting to inflict damage on the PBO administration.

      • 56 hopefruit2

This is more than just a grieving relative. There is a political agenda - how come we don’t see the parents of the thousands kids being killed daily with guns on ABC news blaming the NRA?

        • 57 arapaho415
          February 7, 2025 at 9:51 pm

          You’re absolutely right, HF2.

The media cherrypick the shock and grief that they exploit and blast over broadcast, internet and print to promote their agenda, which apparently is to see the US go down in flames and have anarchy reign among the 99%.

That would ensure MSM jobs for awhile.

The horrific and gruesome nature of the slaughter of civilians by Daesh is stomach-turning, but literally thousands of American families must cope with the untimely deaths by guns in this country every year — yet the NRA seems to be the third-rail for the MSM.

        • 58 Nena20409
          February 8, 2025 at 11:16 am

Yes, it’s also political. It depends on who the person is and on how the press covers these stories.

I remember Sheehan(sp) during the GW Bush Iraq invasion. The Media was in support of the GW Bush and the Iraq war…..so CindyS. was ignored…….until after Katrina in Aug of 2005.

I am adding additional reasons why this family are currently being manipulated.

John Kerry took a very different and more direct path to engaging with the world community. He’s not running for office again and I think he felt unfettered by that politically. I believe he’s done a very conscientious job of meeting the demands of a lot of difficult situation and may be poised to make some breakthroughs. To cast doubt on his service just reeks of an HRC operation. JMO.

It is coming down to Sheldon Adelson versus The President of The USA.

Unless you are a longtime student of israeli politics and factions you have no hope of following the vying claims.
One organization says this and another one says that. False equivalencies abound. A group representing almost no American Jews speaks as if they speak for all of us. The whole mess is maddening.

I think it is fair to say that the only sane solution is an outright cancellation or a face-saving postponement.

If this speech is made and the democratic party splinters then Sheldon Adelson will finally be able to kid himself that he has triumphed over Our President.

I want to share something that showed up in my Newsfeed earlier. The writer is President of Carson-Newman College, a Southern Baptist Liberal Arts school an hour east of Knoxville. As you will read, he & his wife attended the Prayer Breakfast as guests of Cong. John Duncan. Bless him for writing this & sharing it on Facebook.

    Dear Friends,
In the interest of fairness to the President of the United States, I would like to offer an eye-witness, ear-witness, soul-witness to the President’s words and spirit shared at the National Prayer Breakfast. Kay and I were in attendance as guests of our U.S. Congressman, and esteemed friend, the Honorable John J. Duncan, R-TN.
Kay and I are dismayed by the vitriolic attacks on the President and his address by an unnamed news organization. Hearing the reports we wondered if we were present for the same Prayer Breakfast. By disingeniously lifting two sentences out of context from approximately 130 sentences in the President’s speech, the news agency and other political enemies of the President managed to misconstrue the confessional, bridge-building nature of Mr. Obama’s remarks. (The entire speech is available for you online by googling, “President Obama’s National Prayer Breakfast Speech.”)
We shared a breakfast table with Dr. and Mrs. Julio R. Huaranga, Congressman from Peru, and other new friends from the Ukraine, Israel, and the United States. No one at our table was offended by the President’s remarks. In fact, he rightly strongly condemned ISIL for its savage brutality. His tone was conciliatory as he asked us not to condemn Islam for the evil of some, reminding us, after all, of past evil done in the name of Christianity. That was it.
Upon completion of his remarks, the President was given a standing ovation. The Prayer Breakfast was beautiful, powerful, profoundly spiritual.
Then came the reports, . . . the ironic opposite.

It was a wonderful speech, he spoke the truth and as I told some of the people making negative comments about the speech, I said that you people will fine some fault with what the President said if he had just got up there and said Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savoir, thank you. Because if the truth is told, your problem with this President is he is a black man and you can’t stand that he is President of these United States.

“Russia has become a totalitarian monster, - the statement says. - Power fabricates one criminal case after another. We must work together to find ways to get out of this situation.””

    Now, this is courageous ….

I used to think I’d like to see some of these dolts brought kicking and screaming into the 19th century, but now I kinda think we should just leave ’em back there where they belong … so they can just die off.

Bobfr, my ‘Book of Gratefulness’ has a beautiful spirit of specialness tonight: “Thank you, Dr. Bobfr. I always felt something so very special about your core and your generous spirit within this family. What an honor and a total debit of gratitude for you and to you for your brilliant mind and spirit.” Always felt your specialness and humbleness, Bobfr. HZ
