Danielle Burger: Affordable Care Act Attracting Younger, Healthier Insureds
Obamacare is attracting younger and healthier people to its coverage plans this year, according to research by Express Scripts Holding Co., a trend that could help balance and sustain the law’s insurance markets. According to the report, which looked at people enrolled in drug coverage administered by Express Scripts, drug costs were 36 percent lower than in 2014.
People in the exchange plans were also younger by almost four years than those who signed up for 2014, Express Scripts said. Insurance markets depend on a mix of people paying premiums to subsidize the medical costs of others when they fall ill. To be sustainable over time, Obamacare will have to attract enough healthy people to keep coverage affordable.

Thanks for on going updates.
Congrats vetivera :)
back to work ….
Thanks Bobfr
:)
Thank you NW for continuing to focus on the many dimensions of health care that #OBAMACARE has transformed!!!
Also …
I’m not letting up on Senator Reid. As soon as he announces his support for the #IranDeal the dynamics in the Senate Dem caucus will change and he knows it.
#TrustBarack
bbl ….
Thank you, Bob, for your relentless pressure on Sen Reid and other Dems. At this point, I feel that many of them are living in a surreal world where logic and common sense don’t apply. What are they waffling about on the Iran deal? We have one clear path forward-to endorse the deal. Everything else is a step backward toward potential war and isolation for the US. I understand reflex rejection from the Republicans, but the Dems are getting on my last nerve with their wavering.
I’m with you Bobfr, keep up the good work.
Likewise!
Thank you Jackie, bella, Bill & hf2!
Agree with you, Jackie!!
Thanks Bob for these excellent truth-telling tweets. :)
Too important not to remain vigilant Bobfr
Indeed, vetivera!!
Congrats, for your also earned a Gold :star: ;)
Hear Jeb is going to talk about HRC abandoning Clinton. He needs to be reminded that GWB negotiated terms and Iraqis could not ensure safety of U.S. Soldiers. Nothing to do with Obama administration.
Abandoning Iraqis. Sorry. Hate self correct sometimes
Vetivera, Jeb understands nothing because everything he says comes from a well of hatred toward President Obama and the Clintons. He’s a shallow man who clings to lies because that’s all he has. Unfortunately the US media condones all lies from Republicans so he will keep on repeating them in the hopes of duping enough Americans to vote for him.
Can’t even give him the ability to lie credibly as a means of self preservation. He’s just dumb.
if a tree falls in the forest and there is no one around, does it still make a sound?
…..just a thought that popped in my mind as I read your statement. :-D
Many, many, many happy birthday wishes to Donna, who I hope takes a peek at this thread. She is one of our true warriors for justice and if I were into cake making or had anything but elementary computer skills, I would make/find her a cake with a warrior queen on top.
“I were into cake making or had anything but elementary computer skills, I would make/find her a cake with a warrior queen on top”
yep and I would add a replica of Mankini Newt on the side to get the party started. (lolol)
Happy Birthday Donna!
The Dems got a chance to get control of the Senate in 2016, but we the voters do not want Chuck Schumer to be the Democrats Senate Leader.
The Democrats have a chance to get back control of the Senate in 2016, but we the voters have to come out to vote. I am not voting for Netanyahu-Chuck Schumer to be control of the U.S. Senate.
Congrats, vetivera.
Bob! I’m glad you appreciated my closing remarks on the last thread. I expected an avalanche of TOD telling me I am crazy.
Of course, nobody should believe me.
My optimism got 2014 100% wrong.
Still, we have to keep on fighting for what we believe in.
In NYC the anti-Obama crowd has revved it up to deafening proportions.
Michael Bloomberg and Mort Zuckerman (Zuckerman owns the almost out-of-business Daily News and Bloomberg the TV station watched only by his family and friends.) Both came out today with anti-Iran Deal fear and hate editorials. Plus the endless commercials on TV warning us about Eye-Ran.
The Deal is happening whether they like it or not and I have to believe that they know that.
And still they rail on and on. It is not about Iran at all, let alone Iran having anything.
This level of vitriol has to be about long-standing jealousy, hate and racism.
Well, I hate to disagree, but! I don’t see Bernie Sanders fans flocking to VP Biden. Bernie and his followers spew a LOT Of anti-PBO sentiment. They are the emo/Occupy/drone crowd who believe PBO is a sellout. So I don’t see much rollover there.
I agree with you, meta. There are a lot of emos in Bernie’s group. What they won’t do is get off the sofa to vote for HRC.
They may very well turn out for VP Biden. Especially if Bernie joins Joe. Not on the ticket, but on a podium. Down the road a bit. Not saying I am right. I do see a possibility here though.
If not. If it is HRC only, I will face that if and when i must.
The one thing that might make these fans vote Biden over HRC is their own misogyny. Many of these male emogressives have a streak of misogyny (well, the females have internalized misogyny as well). And to have a female leader is just as bad as having a black leader…it won’t sit well with them..
I agree meta and I suspect that a significant proportion of Sanders fans are actually Rand/Ron Paulites. If you notice, Rand Paul’s support has dramatically diminished in the GOP field. That’s because his supporters have tagged on to Bernie’s campaign. So VP Biden is not losing anything via Sanders…they would otherwise vote GOP anyway.
Yes, I think you’re right about that.
hf. Again I agree with you about Bernie Definitely not hurting VPB.
Sanders is injuring HRC.
i agree with this…they are more likely to stay home
This is a great interview:
It really is. I just sat and watched it here at work. Having watched and listened to this man for the past 6 1/2 years, I know I shouldn’t be amazed anew when I listen and read what he says and does but I always am; as if I am hearing/reading his thoughts for the first time. It is something to witness the unwavering character and integrity of our illustrious prez.
I agree completely. PBO is always bringing fresh ideas and thinking to the task at hand. I’m constantly in awe of his unique perspective. He is a constant but always finds new ways to approach everything. He has been a great gift to this world.
Amen!
Thank you endlessly, Nerdy, for always staying on this topic and updating us every week.
It will no doubt go down in history as one of the most important pieces of legislation of our time.
:)
Good post, NW! Thanks.
:)
Nerdy, our president isn’t the only Energizer Bunny ’round these parts! You are too! Thank you “Legend”
Awww……thanks so much, Purpleshoesla.
Thanks for your usual excellent labor of love here, and even more so these last many days! Love ya!
GA all.
I just want to say that I found The Hill’s headline “Go back and get a better deal” particularly offensive and that is obviously the takeaway from Sen Schumer’s statement.
Firstly it reeks of basically treating PBO like a “fetch and step” person with all those connotations. Do as I say and only my judgement is worthy.
It discounts and disregards all the years of work done by Secretaries of State Clinton and especially John Kerry, Wendy Sherman, Secretary Moniz etc and the European negotiators of high skill, experience and real knowledge. “You people” are really not worthy of my respect and support.
Secondly , it is such a betrayal of his President, Party and country that it is almost unbelievable from someone in his position.
Lastly, the fact that he is not being excoriated by his Democratic colleagues suggests that many of them are very out of touch with their constituents and I think need a serious wake up scream not call from all Democrats but mostly their district voters. How that can be done I am not sure given the current state of the Democratic Party’s’ political arms but it really needs to be done.
I know many Dem Candidates seem to feel that it matters little what they do nowadays because the GOP is so extreme that Democrats will even vote for bad candidates but the rejection of the Iran Deal has such serious world consequences ,these Democratic reps who are opposing for whatever reason really need to be dealt.
Who can come up with the best strategy and implement it? What else can ordinary people do beside calling, emailing etc?
I agree with you, Criquet. I was really offended by the Hill’s headline and Schmuer’s offensive attitude towards this President.
Chuck goes lower and lower every day.
And with him the (D) staying in the WH looks worse. The DLC cannot beat the GOP.
Yes, thank you, criquet.
they do not fear the DEM base…because we are notorious for not voting
As much as I am not a BS fan he is making headway with a lot of dissatisfied Dems, Independents, and moderate Republicans who are sick and tired of the way our elected congress stick up for each other and their moneyed interest. Too many of them could care more about getting into office and less about the voters who put them there.
It would make sense for someone to ride the BS coat tails and challenge many of these D/RINO’s in Congress. It takes money to get on the ballet but if they were smart they’d be passing out the hat at all these sold out rallies. Although the media won’t show BS’s crowd social media will. The Stand w/Rand crowd are slinking over the BS.
Omarosa from past Apprentice shows seems to be making the rounds endorsing the Donald. An attempt to win over Black voters?
Not.Going.To.Work.
I noticed that also.
I also noticed she has an annoying little laugh after everything she says. I never heard of her before. But then again I never watched Trump’s show…
She is a Dem.
She is in supportive of Trump in this GOPer/Media/Fox tit for tat.
I doubt that she will be voting for Trump over a Dem.
So she’s just doing this to get another 15 minutes of fame? She could do a lot more for that 15 minutes.
I saw her on with Don Lemon last night…..she mentioned something…….it looks like she was also pushing for more fame and attention for her Web-something.
Trump Tweeted praising her.

who loves Obamacare?
I do.

Thank you.
Gold for Vetivera24, :)

FLOTUS, Malia, and Sahsa had lunch today. How nice.
A Photographer Is Taking Beautiful Photos Of Black Girls Getting Their Hair Done
Photographer Adama Jalloh is celebrating black British girlhood via the hair salons of south London in her “Identity” project.
posted on Aug. 2, 2015, at 7:57 a.m.
“Rarely do you go to exhibitions and see images of black people, especially when it’s in the UK.”
Adama Jalloh recently completed a degree in photography at the Arts University Bournemouth. “I went to a uni where it was predominantly white people and most of the projects they did tended to be things I wasn’t necessarily interested in,” she says.
So in her second year, she started a project that was personal to her, and would shine a light on her – and other black girls’ – beauty rituals. She began visiting black hair salons around Peckham in south London to find subjects, and named the project “Identity”.
“I thought the way I live, and the way other black girls have lived, should be shown in that same kind of environment, and in a positive light. Because most of the time when you see images of black people, it tends to be quite negative

Sick Bastards with guns…..
Now where is the freaking outrage by the News Media?
Outrageous.
Totally. Believe Bernie Sanders says he’ll get rid of institutional racism. Probably on day one. Or 3 a.m., I forget. Maybe he ought to bring his plan out now, rather than waiting.
As more polls came out today, Trump is leading in IA and NH.
Fox and Ailes are his personal propaganda Cabler.
Pardon me…..this is the link, I had intended to post.
Omarosa isn’t worth dog doo.
She and Trump weren’t so buddy buddy at one time.
Maybe I shouldn’t have said that about Omarosa.
When Trump announced he hired actors for his audience. I would not put it past him to have hired Omarosa to say good things about him.
They are tightening up their organization, for real:
The subject of the email I got from the Draft Biden folks today was “This is it.” Almost jumped off my chair. Ha!
Oh wow, I’d be flat!
I had to calm myself down for a bit. :)
It worked for me. I donated again. Hope over fear.
I will donate, I haven’t as much to give as years ago with PBO, but I know every bit makes a difference.
Me, too!
#LetsRollJoe
This will not end well ……
This seems like a very significant event. And her stonewalling hasn’t helped.
I feel sorry for her. I know. I am so Not a Hillary fan. But this just smacks of persecution to me. If he die-hard supporters feel this way too, as Bob says, it will not end well.
predictable.
bad judgement #nomoreclintons #none
I think…LP will like this…. funny
YES, PF! …though I did hate having to put together DNA models w/ ATCG last semester….I remember Legos being much more fun :)
:-D
:D :D :D :D :D
great one pf58!!!
:-D
Trump seems scared to death in this presser. Meaning he’ll go over the edge soon, to regain control of himself.
Like all schoolyard bullies.
They claim he “kept control.” Missed it. I was busy feeding myself a grape.
“Over the past three years, however, we have seen a sea change in the attitudes of the community. It started first with community members getting terrifying reports from relatives in Iran about the suffering they had to endure as a result of US sanctions. Frustrated by the repression of the Iranian government after the 2009 elections, many had shifted towards favoring sanctions in order to pressure the government. But as reports started to drop in around 2012 that those being pressured in Iran were actually ordinary people — their relatives — and not the government, support for sanctions started to drop dramatically.
The surprise election of Hassan Rouhani in 2013 also had a big impact on the attitudes of the community. The fact that the Iranian population decided to go out and cast their votes despite of the 2009 debacle, and the fact that Iranian hardliners did not have the ability to push back, reignited hope that a peaceful path of reform through the ballot box was still viable for Iran.
By the time the political framework agreement was reached in April of this year, the shift in the community was unmistakable. Diplomacy had worked.”
ibid.
Sec Kerry has done a heroic job. I’m just sorry he doesn’t have the full support of Congress.
At presser (I’m already losing interest, of course) …
Trump: I will be great on all women’s health issues.
My Q: Even if we have blood coming out of our eyes?
I’ll allow myself just one tweet about him, then I’m done.
Bobfr, thanks very much for that NPR tape. I always appreciate getting an interview/speech in its entirety the first time I hear it.
Happy to oblige, VC :)
:D :D
You spoil me, for sure, but TY.
This MF!
MF is way too polite. Sen. Chuck needs to feel the consequences of this traitorous behavior.
Consequences will have to be nation-wide.
The NY media is supporting Schumer with bogus polls saying New Yorkers agree with him. Bloomberg, Murdoch and Zuckerman are on fire against PBO and the iran Deal.
What gets me is when the GOP and corporatists are in charge running up the deficit, starting wars and causing unemployment to rise leave office and hand over the disaster they made to PBO complaining of all that they themselves did demanding PBO fix the world. Then when he actually does what is required to fix their mess they get in the way of helping it happen. Examples are numerous but voting down the Iran Deal after fear mongering about a nuclear attack is a major example.
I’m sick of these back stabbing D’s ….have never had PBO’s back during his entire Presidency….always providing anonymous quotes to MSM about how he won’t call them/invite for drinks/play golf & all the other litany of B.S. they cry about. They are all squishes!!! …sorry bout the semi-rant, Vicki.
No apologies need, LP.
Between Schumer and what is happening in Ferguson ranting seems appropriate.
With over 180K signed petitions, numerous phone calls, editorials with scatting views against his idiocy, Donors speaking up loudly, people writing and tweeting……..Today, Social Media is not like in 2002 and 2003 when many Congressional Dems ignored the anti-war activists and went along with a unnecessary war in Iraq.
People leaning left are Not For wars in the Muslim world any more.
Schumer’s new BFF’s
And what would he know about ‘principled’?
This was my exact thought when I learned that the 2 women actually commandeered the stage and the microphone.
Sen Sanders behavior was pathetic. He didn’t show leadership. He wimped out.
As previously noted …
Will have to await a moderator for my previously noted comments to appear …. btw, for all the wrong reasons, Trump is correct.
Heartily agree, with nena and the donald on this point.
What a dam racists ass disgusting loud mouth bully Trump is.
This P.O.S. & his partner in crime Eli Lake, are such a RW hacks
