Jeffrey Young: New Rules Bar Transgender Discrimination In Health Care
The Obama administration is making a major push for transgender rights by prohibiting health insurance companies and medical providers from discriminating against patients because of their gender identities. Under a proposed regulation issued by the Department of Health and Human Services Thursday, transgender people would be entitled to equal treatment in health care and would gain the legal right to make civil rights claims against insurers, doctors, hospitals and others who deny them coverage or necessary care because they are transgender. That includes forbidding health insurers from categorically excluding treatments related to gender transitions.
Transgender people can face significant barriers to getting medical care, as insurers often won’t cover treatments such as hormone therapy and mental health counseling, especially when this care is related to transitioning, and health care providers sometimes refuse care. The health care regulation is the latest in a series of actions President Barack Obama has taken to advance transgender rights, including tangible steps like making it easier for people to get new passports that reflect their gender identity and symbolic gestures like mentioning transgender people during his State of the Union address.

FURST.
Thank yooooooooou Nerdy!!
:)
Congrots (from the dictionary where FURST is written)!
Fuck you, Corey Booker.
AMEN
My sense is that right about now shit just got real for Kim Davis, in her mind it was cute to her that she was able to stop someone from getting married. But now that she sits in federal lockup, it is slowing dawning on her that this isn’t cute anymore.
Hope she also gets fines on top of it until she complies or resigns.
No fines for a contempt of court charge.
Contempt of court can include fines I thought…
The judge said no fine because her supporters will just pay for her anyway.
contempt may include either fines, or jail time or both.
My bad, I thought you couldn’t get fine for a contempt of court charge.
Once again, Fuck You, Cory Booker.
My contribution to #TBT
lol in a room with my 2 dogs who are wondering whats up
Isn’t the important thing that he’s supporting the deal! Why do we have to attack him, he’ll get enough attacks from the people that are opposed to the deal as I saw on his twitter timeline.
the flaw according to Booker is that AiPAC didn’t get him what he wanted. That or he was worried about not getting re-elected. Sorry, I’m glad he decided to do the right thing but I don’t trust Booker.
Ha!
This!
Too late, Cory, we see who you are.
And if people vote these creeps out next election the will say it’s because they supported POTUS on the deal; not because people can’t stand their creepiness.
I’m surprised. I was prepared for him to knuckle under to AIPAC and Bibi. He was on many lists to vote against.
These Senators are sounding like a pain in the ass, with that deeply flawed Iran Deal. Have any deal every been perfect, shot even war isn’t perfect.
Deeply flawed. Hahahaha! Looks like dude calculated that short term $$ wasn’t as crucial as his long-term political aspirations. ;-/
He is trying to ride both sides of the fence; he needs to stand up a be man (he has had a perfect model for this in PBO for all this time). Corey got too much attention too soon before he really had sustainable success in public office. He was everywhere from Oprah to an episode of “Finding your Roots” with Skip Gates. He got in congress and became a yes man, and an Uncle Tom (yes, i said it). In what manner is the Iran deal “deeply flawed”? What would he change and how would he do it (if it was his responsibility which it never will )? He is like the usual politician who wanted public office to be something rather than to do something. I am sure that he is a big disappointment to the people who were singing his praises years ago.
THIS a gajillion times! I said on the last thread, thought this guy had some substance. But nope, nope and all the nopes in nopeland. After seeing the “real deal” in action, our illustrious Prez by his words and deeds alone has shown what a bunch of hucksters, fraudsters and selfish ass mofos our “representatives” are.
Wow, meta, what a dweeb Booker is. I’m sure the ‘deep flaw’ in his mind is that it didn’t come with AIPAC approval and thus threatens his
future financial support.
OOOPPPSSIEEE!!!!
But, but, what is Kim Davis to do???
She was going to cash in from the lunatics that were ready to stand with her and donate to Gofundme.
What’s happening now?
Wrote this on the previous thread: “Oh she’ll be fine. She’ll sit tight in the lockup for a while – let that martyrdom marinate for a bit – then come out, resign and hire a booking agent.”
Besides GoFundMe isn’t the only means her supporters would have to get money to her. She’ll have a lawyer shortly, who will see to that.
hahahaha! Take that Davis!
Of course they will probably use another outlet though..
Exactly
Yippee for Cory Booker. The deal is not “flawed”. There is a BIG difference between “flawed” and “not perfect” (which I loathe as well). A deal means both parties gave up something to resolve an issue. In this case, we keep ALL of our options on the table if Iran does not comply, and an Iranian nuke is off the table entirely. Exactly, how “flawed” is that?
Don’t anybody call me a racist when I rail against Booker as his ambitions for national office grow. He’s a sleazy opportunist and nothing more. He, and the others like Schumer, could have led. They had the ear of the RWNJ rabbis and the RW Israelis. But instead they sat with their hands folded, taking orders. Or at the very least, listening to what they were being told to do, instead of changing hearts and minds that are too blind to see the huge advantages of this deal.
So I’m with Don. Eff you, Cory Booker, and thank you for your vote.
A day late and a dollar short, this guy could have been a contender!
A moral compass that only points in the direction of his ambition. I won’t diss him on Twitter until the damned vote is over and done with, but I will say what I think of him here at TOD, that’s for sure.
Co-sign.
And I just tweeted Booker with my thanks. I know how to play this game…….
Seems to me - the politicians against the deal think EVERY treaty should be 100% US - 0% everyone else - that only works when you then spend billions rebuilding the countries you bombed into oblivion and the people in those countries are willing to go along with the options.
You got it, 99ts.
From now until I have no more phuqs to give John Ellis “Jeb” Bush will be referred by me as J.E.B.
….or BUSH! Again?
😎
fuck you booker.
We have now passed a point of no return that we should have never reached, leaving our nation to choose between two imperfect, dangerous and uncertain options,” Booker’s statement said. “Left with these two choices, I nonetheless believe it is better to support a deeply flawed deal, for the alternative is worse.”
typical weasalism from a fucking noob.
“fuck you booker”
+ 1,000,000,000,000
Let me see now, seven zeros is one million, and nine zeros is one billion. So what’s twelve zeros? I give up, fucking math man. I come here to relax and I’m constantly being put on the spot.
Don, your math sounds as dodgy as mine - and holy heck, that’s saying something!!! ;-)
LOL!!!
LOL! :-D
Relax Dude! Google is your friend! :-)

Bazillion works too! :-D
or 1 to the infinity
Amen!
Well said, AMK!
Gag.
And he’s touted as a VP possibility? Really?
The hypocrisy of these Ds is mind boggling. Let’s not forget it is due to the traitorous Dems that Congress is going through this drama to begin with. But for them, PBO would have signed it with no fanfare like any other executive agreement. But Congress wanted to weigh in. Now they act like it is some big act of courage to support the best arms agreement ever negotiated by the President of their party. I am rapidly getting to the point of thinking they are all utterly despicable. I also am growing increasingly concerned that a number of them will vote for cloture even if the Ds have the votes to prevent it. That would be the final insult to PBO and if it happens I will not forget it.
From what I’ve read, Foxfire, it was Schumer who whipped the vote for Congress having a say with numbers that would have overriden PBO’s veto. In true PBO fashion, he got a better bill than originally thought. I don’t even think Dems would have gone that direction if Schumer hadn’t cared more about pleasing Bibi and using GOP traitors as his instrument.
But a couple of them may still vote for cloture to have the “debate”. Casey alluded to it and Manchin has been explicit. Coons may be another. I am sick to death of all of them at this point.
I think it’s more important now to get to sustaining the veto in the House as well. We are not going to get to a filibuster. Although the more that commit to the vote, the stronger we are.
Well, well, well
well, well, well. I had pegged him as an iffy.
surely the other ‘wavering dems’ must know by now that the rethug goppers don’t give a ratsfvck whether these wimpy dems would vote with them or not.
does that make 36
37!
I’m sorry to say but there is no there there to Cory Booker, at best he can lead around by the nose. And at worst he has no political courage. Courage makes up stand up to the fight, cowardice makes you run from the fight.
but rescuing cats from burning houses must count? …. for something.
He is such an empty suit, a lightweight.
….not if you set the house on fire in the furst place…
//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js
great job, meta. It’s having effect.
We need five of eight. Well, actually we may need six because Manchin said he won’t do a filibuster.
Casey and possibly Coons are iffy on filibuster as well.
Coons………L……..LO………LOLOLOLOL!
Let’s work on ALL of them!
CNN’s debate ad must have been done by the WWF. It is embarrassing.
I was reading a comment online earlier today that said that even though we have all these Senators saying they will support the Iran Deal a few of them who support it will not filibuster the vote on this deal. Dems in Congress drive me crazy!!! Republicans support their leaders no matter what!
Donna, Dems do support their leaders, its just that you have to get caught with an intern for them to support you.
Do I smell smoke? :-D
i think that Dem representatives do not fear any repercussions from the electorate…..our voting record is poor…. so whats to fear…not us…..
Very True PF58. All the pressure comes from the lobbyist. I have been listening to Progessive talk radio on Sirrus radio a lot of late and there is virtually no call to actions to their listeners to petition their reps on this deal. Unlike the TPP when they were hammering their listeners day and night. I’m so frustrated that it is beyond words!
Hilarious. And what’s with the Max Factor pancake make-up from 1971 under his eyes?
He borrowed it from Brian Williams.
Ha!
CNN…. Where is takes 5 press-titutes to analysis what ” I have signed the Pledge ” really means.! All talking at the same time.
lol..
Cory Booker really thought he was going to be a ” Star ” in the Senate.
When he got there, he was told to Shut Up and Sit Down.
Same thing with Republican Tim Scott.
This just goes to show you that not many people are built like Barack Obama.
^5
There it is. Too many on both sides thought: If he can do it, I can do it as well, without taking into account the very singular person that PBO is.
BooooooooM

Another good one, bella! Thank you!
I’m not sure why, but when I clicked the link I got a 404 page error. So I just went to their website and found the article. Don’t know if this link will be any different, but here ya go:
http://www.salon.com/2015/09/03/the_right_wings_hideous_crusade_against_michelle_obama_has_completely_fallen_apart/
I like these passages from the article especially:
“… the Republicans haven’t stopped either and they plan once again to try to reverse the new nutritional guidelines. But this time they are getting pushback from some very big players: the food industry, which is making a lot of money selling the ever-so-slightly-more-healthy products under the new regulations, things like whole wheat cinnamon rolls and cereals without artificial colors. And they see no reason to turn back. They are furiously lobbying Congress to leave the guidelines in place.
Sadly, Michelle Obama is forced to take a back seat in this fight because apparently her mere presence makes Republicans lose their faculties, but her feelings probably aren’t hurt. These huge conglomerates are still serving junk, it’s just slightly better junk than it was before. But that’s better than nothing. If the Republicans had their way, kids would be gorging on Cheetos and Coke and sitting in front of the TV all day watching “Duck Dynasty” marathons. Instead, the USDA reported this week that The Healthy, Hungry-free Kids Act is helping to lower childhood obesity rates. Because of this act, the USDA says kids are eating roughly 20 percent more fruits and vegetables in their lunches each day, up substantially from five years ago….
Michelle Obama has endured an orgy of insults from the likes of Limbaugh and Palin. But her legacy will exceed anything those two have ever done. If, in spite of tremendous gridlock and partisan obstructionism, her efforts have helped to stall the epidemic of childhood obesity and educate the government and the public about the necessity of eating healthier and getting some exercise, then she’s done more than 90 percent of the U.S. Congress to better the lives of the American people.”
Thanks for the link bella! Tweeted it!
Donald Trump has an Anchor Baby.
On April 7, 1977, she married Donald John Trump in a lavish society wedding. The Trumps became leading figures in New York high society and business during the 1980s. Ivana’s legal status between 1976-1977 is questionable because she overstayed her Visa. Even though she married Donald Trump, a US citizen, her questionable status did not change until the birth of her oldest son, Donald Jr.
It appears the same applies to wife # 3 as well. Their child was born in March of 2006. She became ” Naturalized ” sometime the same year.
Trump is a blow hard!
He actually has 4 :)
What is it with Trump and his mail-order brides?
His mother was Scottish……he loves women with accent?
South Carolina will seek the death penalty for Dylann Roof.
BREAKING NEWS: Kim Davis says she has no problem with gay marriage and that the probable cause of this unfortunate situation was caused by a mixture of medication and alcohol.
Is this real news because I can’t stop laughing
Investigation underway after ‘mass baptism’ at Georgia high school
Administrators are investigating what went down at the Villa Rica high school in Georgia after a video was shared on YouTube:
The video, posted by First Baptist Villa Rica, was shot on school grounds just before football practice. “We had the privilege of baptizing a bunch of football players and a coach on the field of Villa Rica High School! We did this right before practice! Take a look and see how God is STILL in our schools!” the caption with the video reads.
Annie Laurie Gaylor of the Freedom From Religion Foundation asked for an immediate investigation (which the school district says is now underway), and she notes that many students involved in the football program are unlikely to have a choice in the baptism:
“Starting this video out, they call it a step of obedience, and then the camera pans to the students,” said Gaylor. “It’s forcing them to undergo a religious ritual to be accepted on a team. How are they going to cross their coach? They have no choice. It’s proselytizing, it’s coercive, and it’s not legal in our schools.”

Linda, the part about the Football booster club is totally insane, these people are nuts.
They are trying to make our country a theocracy…….
It really unnerves me.
How does the school NOT KNOW whether these kids already were baptized and go to church. What if they come from a Catholic or some other religion? This is so wrong….
Incredible!
Whoa
ah…. the Keystone Pipeline Liar who said it will bring tens of thousands of jobs.
I read somewhere she was holding out for some sort of oil export deal. Guess the hour is getting late.
Oh. My. God. I am speechless. Did any of us think THIS would happen?
This is great, I was thinking she would be a definite no.
This is good but there is no pathway to the 41 to filibuster the vote. :( :(
Casey, Coons and Manchin all said they will not support a filibuster of the vote and certainly Schumer and Menedez wont.
OK, thanks. I hadn’t heard about Casey.
They may change their minds, when it actually comes up to vote. The important thing is that they won’t stop the agreement from being passed.
Cool! I had my doubts about her, she votes so often with the Rs.
We might be able to do this is they all hold.
This guy is an expert at making enemies.
OMG, is that Donald Trump? OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He forgot to put on his girdle.
He’s disgusting
Chat away
http://theobamadiary.com/2015/09/03/chat-away-657/
I am speculating that all the R candidates are furiously pouring money into “opposition research” on Trump, private detectives fanning out across the USA to dig up the dirt. And I’m sure there is plenty of it, based on what we already know.
Wow!
I go to the eye doctors and come back to see—-Cory Booker, Heidi Heitdkamp, and Mark Warner join the Yes votes. 37 on the way to 41!!
Thank you to all who wished me well.
The meds are working which takes me out of immediate danger. The sight that is gone cannot be restored, but one eye is perfect and the other blurry, I am grateful. Regular visits to check and the miracles of modern meds should keep me going for many years.
I don’t understand what Meta and Donna are discussing. If we have 41 votes then we vote down a disapproval resolution. No????
Vicky, I’m glad that your visit went well, and that your meds are doing what it’s supposed to do, and that one eye is perfect.
Great news for you, Vicki. Thank goodness for good insurance and doctors.
DD and I are talking about the filibuster.
